Says right where the ranked arena queue is, January 25th. I believe there was dev confirmation on reddit that there will be 4 leagues, so yes you have time to complete the back piece. I presume it’ll be a league for two months, a month break, then another league for 2 months, etc. Should take up the year that way, since they’re supposedly also going to create new backpieces every year for pvp.
That’s right, they actually sell white/common weapons in heart of the mists for use, since those basic weapons are just as potent as ascended in pvp matches
Since the level requirement for cultural armor is 40, that means you can now wear it. It doesn’t mean that since you’re past 40, you have to, but it’s a new option for you.
I presume those are the new guild armor skins. Your guild has to have a hall, and go pretty far into the marketplace and stuff. Think it’s like level 40 guild, but anyways…they added new guild armors and weapons that are craftable once your guild gets the necessary upgrades
Think of it like the Power Rangers. In the first few iterations, members came and went all the time, sometimes with a couple of characters being in multiple versions. Just because it’s not the original lineup, doesn’t mean they’re not part of the group. They’re just a different dynamic, and a bit bigger.
Yeah, skill points changed into hero points and spirit shards. Hero Points function as the traits/utility skills currency now, and spirit shards are the currency for mystic forge stuff. You can get Hero Points by doing the open world hero challenges, like you used to for skill points in getting map completion. Spirit Shards are gained through completing 3 dailies (you get a bag of 3 spirit shards), sometimes as a random drop, and using a level up tome when you’re already level 80.
When we were capturing our guild hall last night, someone remarked that the crystal does indeed grow with your guild level.
You need to unlock the recipes for each individual piece of gear you want to make. I haven’t checked, but I assume it’s just random drop rates, possibly buyable from the TP.
Viper’s stats are bought from the Exalted vendors in Auric Basin. You need Exalted Mastery 2 to buy from them
I don’t know if you are aware of this but you can save Beigarth and Occam in Prisoners of the Dragon. As for what happens after they escape, that is indeed unexplained. Perhaps we will see them again considering they are important smiths.
Might be referring to this, but they’re also in the open world Verdant Brink, along with Shashoo and the warrior quaggan at one of the pact camps. I’d posit they’re also in Dragon’s Stand, as from what I’ve heard all the random npcs we meet in HoT show up in that zone again.
I think that “Grenth shield you” line is probably just a generic human line.
^The GW1 ones sure, unlikely to be concluded. But stuff like Caudecus, Mai Trin/Aetherblades, Magdaer, all could show up in future expansions theoretically. Now that we’re done with the “Sylvari Expansion”, we can venture to other areas of the world and pick up on these storylines.
You might need like Tier 5 I think, Dulfy at least suggested that you need to get the rank that mentions challenging the toughest Nuhoch.
Hello devs, love the expansion so far. I’ve been going to my characters unlocking the elite specializations, but when I point in the first 60 points for chronomancer, I did not get gifted the shield skin in the reward chest like all the other specialization unlocks. I was in Heart of the Mists at the time, so it might be a bug with unlocking while in a pvp setting. Thanks for all your hard work on developing, keep it up
I presume that rewards are dependent on your toon’s level, as most reward bags are.
A quick google search suggested that Sea of Sorrows is one of the top oceanic servers, but again there’s no need unless you’re looking to play wvw. Guilds don’t really have a downside, so apart from immersion breaking that you talked about there’s not much reason to ignore it. Your choice, however.
Mesmer and Engi are pretty high skill cap imo. Engineer possibly more so, because there are so many skills to learn. Personally, I’m not very good at it, but if you like rotation juggling then you’ll have a great time with them, especially in pvp. Currently I’m playing Mesmer in PvP, and while it’s not as good as it used to be, it’s still pretty strong imo. But again, it takes a while to get used to, when the game launched I tried mesmer and was completely against it, took me a few months to try it out again.
Race makes no mechanical difference except for some subpar skill options, and the first 30 levels of the story missions. Other than that, play what looks cool to you, or what you think blends with your profession.
As they’ve said, dungeons are generally a pain in pug, so your best bet is to join a guild that would be willing to help you through it/make friends who will. There’s a lot of knowing about your class, and what gear is helpful where.
PvP is basically all that but condensed. You need to know what strengths your class has and capitalize on it, constructing a build which can counteract weaknesses.
I’d say creating a warrior would be fine, as it’s probably the easiest class in game. If you want to get better at your current classes, maybe try out some build websites if you’re stuck on that, otherwise like I said just practicing with people who are willing to help you learn.
what’s the context? deads probably just means dead, and I’m pretty sure ppt means power precision toughness, which is a stat set for your gear. ppk I assume follows the same pattern, but I don’t think there’s a stat that starts with k.
I agree there should be more lore on where the elite specs come from, but I think a pretty widely held assumption is that the Exalted will teach us the ways of the elite specs. There’s going to be collections to unlocking the elite spec skins (like the shield skin on Chronomancer, the helm on Berserker), so I assume we’ll gain some lore from those collections. It’s not the best, but given we’re getting lore-ish collections for the precursors, they’ll probably do the same for the elite specs.
As someone with 16 character slots, leveling up is a chore now. With the amount of level up tomes we get thrown as well, why not just speed to 80? I’m not sure what you want to hear from people who speed level, other than leveling gets tiring after the third character, ESPECIALLY if it’s a class you’ve already played.
A nitpicky remark as well, but unless they changed it, you get more experience playing a zone the same level as your current one. That is, if you’re 40 playing in a 1-15 zone, you’ll still get experience and be downleveled, but it won’t be as much experience as you’d get in a level 40-50 zone. They incentivize playing content that’s right for you, but still sorta hamper your ability to level when playing in lower level zones.
Just a personal observation, but man I’ve been gone for a while. I feel like a year ago people were complaining about the oversaturation of players not leaving starter zones, and now the problem seems to be that no one is in the starter zones because they’re all 80’s.
Yep, if you go to the story journal right now, you probably have all three releases of LS 2 already unlocked, you can activate any of the three at any time on any character. Just have to log in once every two weeks and you’ll always have the option to replay those stories
The Sylvari and Asura pairing is hardly ‘bro’ status imo. Sylvari are kinda distrusting of the Asura actually, since one of the firstborn was experimented on by the Inquest.
I remember before Scarlet was revealed, she was a forerunner for being the true Scarlet, so it’s definitely crossed people’s minds. Not sure about after that, but there is still some room for suspicion.
Your necro could make weapons for any character on your account that uses weaponsmith items, but like roundabout said, the recipes might require you to be level 80 to learn.
Shouldn’t matter, you can hold items that are above your level, you just can’t equip them, so it should be the same for crafting.
You can only craft heavy armor for armorsmith
For number 2, seems that it can proc even when there’s no boons on the target. As for number 1, I don’t have THE correct answer but I think it would do the newest boon first, if not the most recent then the oldest one.
Having more achievement points gives you a little more magic find, like 1% every 2k or something. There’s also food, banners, and guild improvements which give more magic find, but that wouldn’t be more than 10% for the latter two. Commander tags don’t influence mf as far as I’m aware.
Should be able to access your personal account bank, but obviously not the guild bank since that’s server specific.
Welcome to the game. Since you’re probably not gonna be doing wvw, any server will do, as players can play across servers and meet other people just by running around the open world. Everyone’s gonna have a bias to say theirs is the best, but I’d vouch for SoR or NSP (Sanctum of Rall and Northern Shiverpeaks), both servers I’ve been on that have friendly communities.
Engi or guard are pretty useful in wvw.
Server doesn’t really matter as much anymore, but if you want to get into competitive wvw you’ll want to be on servers like JQ, Blackgate, or TC.
relog/go back to character select
I think Thief fits best. Knows the weak spots of all his enemies, so even if he does have to fight, he can easily take them down.
Nope, you’d have to make a light armor class character to use the phoenix skin at all.
Try to get into tequatl runs, that’s an easy 30k karma for like 20 minutes or less of gameplay. But yeah, eotm is also fast, assuming your team has direction
Personally, it’s a nice break to just roll through a 20 minute key when I’m bored. Since I’ve completed most of the goals I have (aside from working on my legendary), gambling safely with black lion chests is an easy and quick thing to do.
Play what you want, if you’re not enjoying the game then why play? Warrior is rather OP in most cases, which is why you seem them a lot and why you tend to do better in pvp. Mesmer is mainly known for its utility uses, personally I suck at mesmer though. Necro is more condi based, so that’s probably why people dis it so much, condi isn’t that helpful in dungeon runs when everyone else is trying to kill asap rather than through attrition. Power necros in pvp are godly, and there are some good bunker necro builds for pvp as well, so don’t know where you got that misinfo.
Like I said, just play what you like to, there’s really only a facile level of players that won’t accept you in their dungeon team or whatever, you can always play with friends/guildies.
It’s probably just poor wording, but Da Sonic is correct. Using the weapon swap functionality will not remove stacks, but unequiping will. Also, some sigils will lose their stacks (the fleshreaver one resets when you weapon swap), but I believe all the stat boosting sigils are unaffected by weapon swap.
I believe they made it so that outfits are now one-piece equipment items, so you have to wear the full set.
It might take a moment, but if you successfully finish casting, you will get the health, and any interrupts won’t remove that heal.
It’s one booster per powder
Activating a powder converts boosters in your inventory into a special booster. This special booster lets you choose out of a few options, then immediately use it upon confirmation. Using the powder only converts into one booster, some of them require 2 boosters to exchange into the special booster.
Yeah, biggest problem I think is that you’re joining the wrong group, story mode is simple, but you do need a party of 5 to complete, which is weird since it’s your personal story and all…
If the LFG tool doesn’t get you a group, you can even shout in map chat, someone will probably help you out.
Left one is most definitely Bolt, the legendary sword. Right one is probably one of the legendary greatswords, or else just some sort of skill bug that keeps an aura up longer than intended (guardian heals sometimes keeps you glowing blue or something)
Right now, best bet is to keep saving up and hope for precursor crafting/scavenger hunt. That said, if on your travels you get rares you can always chuck em in the forge, but unless you feel like you’re rather lucky on a character, it’s not worth it.
Recipes are character bound
That surprisingly sounds plausible. Although I’m not sure how long she’s been around (I know at least since Tower of Nightmares), she has been a very investigative person.
The home instance nodes are account bound, at least for the candy corn, watchwork sprocket, quartz, and the obelisk. Not sure about the gem store one, but I’m pretty sure it’s the same. Since the shoulder skin isn’t class bound, I’d assume it’s for all armor classes, the molten gauntlet gives for all three as well.
