66% slower. The highest slowing effect will be the one that takes precedence. Actual condition damage stacks, however
Sounds like a personal problem, and you should go with what you think is fun. I’ll tell you I personally am a Altoholic, have all 80’s, but you’ll find yourself floating to certain characters just based on who you play with. So, I would suggest finding a guild you like/is active (which sounds like a problem as you described it), and when you play with them, you’ll see if they have a solid coverage of professions. If not, then you can go alt, so as to be a player with options. If they’ve got some ‘staples’, then I’d suggest just mastering your two 80’s.
Another approach is just playing around with your 80’s, seeing if you still like their playstyle. A pro of altoholic is variety, so I never get bored of playing. If I’ve been playing a lot of warrior/guard lately (which I have), then I hop on my necro/mesmer (who are still working on the story).
Well now we’re getting into the personality of Sylvari again, which is debated enough in the racial subforums >.>
The theory of DE 2.0 is that the races are all represented and gender swapped, hence Braham/Rox, maybe Kiel (or Kasmeer, although she’s not as prominent). If they had a Sylvari, my bet would go towards Canach rather than Scarlet. Asura is still up in the air, IF Anet is really planning some sort of mirror group
I agree, but it sounded like OP wanted something less involved
Are you asking what profession you should main? Or out of thief and engi, which you should make next?
If the former, Ranger is probably the best ‘passive’ ranged class, seeing as three of its weapons are ranged. Pet is good for taking aggro, so you can just sit back and do nothing if that’s what you like.
If the latter, Thief and Engi are pretty involved classes imo. Thief would probably be the easier one, since you can do lots of spike damage through stealth
*Metrica Province, the Fire Ele
Anyway, as a guardian, you are probably better off using a scepter (has 900 range, compared to staff’s 600). Just auto attack, using the other skills when you can/aren’t dying. You can technically do this event as many times a day as you want, but you can only get the chests for it once a day, per account
Perhaps they’re funded by the LA council? (Spitballing here, I’m sure someone else will come along with hard evidence XD)
Yeah, this is the forum post from almost a year ago. I think the question was whether they changed it so now it does affect chests
Based on Engi or War, Engineer has a far better lore-friendly ring to it. I personally have a statics warrior, but it’s kinda bending the ‘rules’ more so than an engi would
I think it was meant to do that, so if you’re a hardcore guild you can be on a dedicated server, but if you just want to be with friends or w/e then you can be on different servers. As for guild missions, you personally can get credit (commendations) as long as you’re guesting and repping that guild/server. The merits are only rewarded to the home server (whichever the leader is on)
In terms of auto attack, the rate of fire (which is what I thought you were asking) of a shortbow is the fastest. Scepter and pistol are pretty fast (for a guard), but they aren’t as fast as shortbow (as far as I’m aware, this is all based on observation, no stats). Someone else mentioned the pistol/pistol barrage type skill for thief, that’s probably the fastest (watch as someone names another skill I forgot).
I think Ranger shortbow has the fastest “1” attack, followed shortly by Thief shortbow. Ranger longbow has a barrage type attack (number 2 I believe) which is even faster, but as far as autos go, it would be shortbows
I don’t remember him being called a Genie, I think (almost wrote Melonni), Miyani says that he’s a Djinn she smuggled from Elona when she came to LA
Easiest for afirst character ranged would be Ranger. You have the most weapons at your disposal for that end. Engi or thief would be good alternate attempts, the scholars next, and the heavy classes are pretty heavy on melee weapons
As in chests in dungeons/such? I feel ike it does, but I don’t have any official claim to that. I do happen to get rares in world boss chests (not the daily account bound one) more frequently
Agreed. Or have some way of refining the stones into a Fine Trans stone, I literally have tossed away two stacks of regular trans stones because they’re so useless
What Lord Aargadon said. I got a random key drop a few days ago, but you’re more likely to get them from daily/monthly/map complete. Even then, unlikely.
I haven’t tried power necro, but I run staff ele all the time. Great for AC, HotW maybe, but yeah, it’s pretty good for support. I never see necros, though, if that’s what you’re asking about
They are continually trying to find ways to make fractals rewarding also, they said something like that when they gave dungeons the daily gold reward
I haven’t done it myself, but I’m guessing if you did all starter zones you’d be at level 25-27, from the start. (I estimate 3 levels per zone, plus the 15 you need to be able to complete one zone). Events are much better than completing zones, but don’t take that as me saying go do event farms in queensdale. It would probably be fun, and rewarding, but might be just as easy to map a zone in terms of levels. Depending on what level you are, dungeons are the quickest quickest way to gain levels (completing one will give you 70% of a level guaranteed).
If you’re a glass cannon, you wouldn’t want to grind for defensive gear anyway ;p. But if you did switch from pure damage to a more survivable set, then yes, that would be a major difference in terms of dying. I like to think of my two heavies, war and guard, who are complete opposites. War is pure attack, has about 3000 attack, and 50~% crit damage. However, he’s also got a lot of vitality (with gear and traits, he’s at around 24k health). He can dish out damage, but he goes down pretty quick (especially when I put on my zerker gear, he has even less chance of making it out alive). My guard on the other hand is pure cleric, has maybe 2400 attack, but armor is well over 3k, health isn’t too great but she makes up for it with a lot of healing. Survives a lot better, but doesn’t do much in terms of killing things. They have the same ‘tier’ of gear, but the stat boosts they give are completely different, changing the way they survive. My war kills things before it can be killed, and my guard just tanks all the damage away from others. (If you want to try glass cannon, my war uses Valkyrie, which is power/crit damage/vit)

1. CM is notorious for spike damage, such as the Cuthroats (12 stacks of bleeding) and Riflemen (Can take out more than half your health with one shot). So part of your problem is that they’re strong.
2. Depending on your gear, you could go up a significant amount to survive easier. For instance, you could be in green gear (Masterwork) and specced for a DPS, which means you’re basically a glass cannon. Exotics will boost your stats a bit, but it won’t mean you’ll be a god in the dungeon or anything. The stats you’re specced for also will determine how easy you survive (Zerker vs. Cleric, for instance).
Also what Natsu said, you can buy most of the ascended stuff on the TP anyway, including the inscription, and I believe Spiritwood Planks and Deldrimor Ingots
Because they’re trying to make a vertical progression. Let’s say you get it your way and you can craft whatever ascended if you have the mats. Ok. Now you can’t reach for any higher thing. I made it, now I’m bored again, because I’m at max tier. The timegate is to add some sort of feeling of achievement, that yes, I spent the time and money on making the max tier of equipment
I can’t think of any PvF, but in a wvw context PvE would mean doing the non-capping stuff, such as taking mercenary camps or sentries
DR could mean Divinity’s Reach, the human’s city in Kryta. The only other thing I can think of is Diminishing Returns, which refers to the system in place to…deter people from grinding/farming.
You don’t start quests, since in GW2 there’s no such thing. If you’re looking for levels, then cpg’s advice is good, just roam and explore, do events that you find since they give good experience. If you completely map a zone, you should have gained around 3 levels.
*Strongest out of the three he wanted to try. I realize that any class can play any type, but the fact is some are better than others in areas. In my experience, ele is the best at dishing damage of the three
It’s funny, because I would recommend elementalist for you. I think it’s probably the strongest out of them all, and it can go support, or power, or anything really. The conjure weapons add some variety, as do getting to know your attunements for your weapons. Necro imo is more based on lasting long, I personally haven’t found a good way to do lots of damage on it (but I don’t spend too much time trying). Engineer I use as a condition build, but like elementalist, can probably be fun for you because of the different weapon kits
lots of dungeons for transferring exotics into forge food, or buying the 30 token rares and salvaging those for your ectos/dust. I know how you feel, I’m down to just lodestones and the precursor for Frostfang, but if Anet doesn’t do something about the precursor soon, I’m gonna be crying as I desperately chuck my life into the forge.
As someone who is getting into Guardian again, I use the same weapons XD. Staff is a great asset, from the speed boost to the might/healing. Scepter is good for range if you need it, in fact the longest reaching wep a guard has. Shield is my default offhand as well. However, I’d suggest trying torch offhand (didn’t see you mention it here) as it offers a lot of burning damage to offset the staff’s more supportive role. Mace was my main weapon for a long time as well, I should really get one again so I can see if I still like it. Sword is alright, has a blind and a little block. GS and hammer are also great weapons for DPS if you’re willing to go all 2 handed weapons, and there’s even a trait that decreases the recharge of 2 handed skills.
As for the other 5 slots, I personally use the signet heal, which passively removes conditions. I run a cleric guardian, so my main setup is being a supporter/healer with the staff, and tanking some damage. Shouts are pretty good, and there’re some supportive traits for them. My utilities I use the signet that reduces damage, Purging flames, and usually Wall of Reflection. Purging flames and Smite condition are great condi removing skills, and can be cast more often with a trait that reduces consecration recharge. Wall of reflection is mainly on my bar for dungeons, where it’s helpful to gather enemies and then reflect their attacks. Elite-wise, they’re not that great imo. I use Tome of Wrath mainly for the 5 or so seconds of quickness that it can grant, but the other tome has a party wide full heal, so it depends on how you want to play. My friend uses Renewed Focus since he gives up his virtues all the time.
But yeah, just some of my thoughts, wasn’t sure what you wanted to know exactly since you kind of just told your build XD
Probably just Tequatl becoming the most powerful of the undead now. It would be easier to explain as just an update on the boss mechanics if not for the fact that Teq is now the highlight of the update, which to me sounds like it’s part of the Living Story.
Probably a medium armor class. I main a ranger, and Engi is pretty fun to play too. Thief might have some survival issues. Ele is a bit weak for solo play (imo), and I never really got into necro or mes
I can see your point about people not bothering with crafting the weps, but I personally think the amount of drops are fine. Adding some additional use, or some other function so that it’s not just wasted loot would be a good addition to the game.
Either A. Town clothes, or B. unavailable armor.
There are ‘Monument Stones’ in Arah Jotun path, similar to these, so I’d say it’s probably notes on astronomy, or the like.
Not sure about other metas, but seeing as the Ascalon one is the only starter zone meta that’s not on the same tier kitten, Maw, etc, yes, I agree it should be upped to the same level reward wise
So, with the new ascended crafting and whatnot, we have new materials. Most are reused materials from GW1 (Damask, Elonian Squares, Spiritwood) but I’m more interested in the Bloodstone, Dragonite, and Empyereal (I think I spelled that wrong). Anyone have any ideas on what the latter two are related to?
Thus far, she seems to have a Joker complex, causing trouble and chaos because it’s fun for her.
In response to the sylvari intelligence, I’d say that the Dream definitely gives them an advantage. As stated, it carries experiences and memories of the Sylvari, so it would be my guess that all sylvari grow together, rather than like humans where we individually have to learn for ourselves.
One can hope. Seeing as most ascended stuff has flavor text (laurel stuff, at least), it would be nice to see the legendaries get a bit of flavor text. Supposedly, there are clues around the world that hint at what you need to make a legendary (or there was supposed to be a long time ago? idk)
Anyway, as Bruno said, doubtful, but it would be cool
I like the idea, but what I think you’ve come up with is a bit exclusive, is what Chrispy was pointing out. It would be interesting to play profession specific PS, but they’d have to be unfocused on the gods. You mention Grenth and Melandru, but only the Humans would really LIKE to do stuff for them. Also, given the fact that the professions changed since GW1, they aren’t gonna tie perfectly to the gods anymore. Who is the patron of Engineering?
Something more racially unbiased would be cool. Like you mentioned, helping cleanse a forest of Oakhearts would be cool, and is not racially specific, meaning Anet would only have to make 8 stories instead of 40
Or add the nornish armors that are in concept art.
http://wiki.guildwars.com/images/d/db/Norn_concept_art_4.jpg
http://wiki.guildwars.com/images/a/ac/%22Jora%22_concept_art.jpgWow, who do I have to crush to get those armors added?
And I would totally support a hide chest armor button.
^.^
Love that Norn female armor!
Ah, the good old days of GW1 Norn baring all. But I agree, I’d like a toggle for chest pieces, but right now I’m coping. My medium male norn has I think T2 armor, which is pretty much just sleeves and a back.
Counter argument to not allowing toggle on chest armor, as some people have proven in this thread alone, some people just want to stare at cyber ahems. (Guilty as charged, since my ele is in CoE armor, but still)
My suggestion is just more Norny armor, reminiscient of GW1 days.
You can replay story dungeons. Unless you’re talking about finding a group, in which case, that’s more of an incentive problem.
how much are your commissions, sir edus?
Jennah and those guys wouldn’t know about your promotions in the Orders, seeing as you leave Kryta when you join them. And it’s not like you’re pen pals with them either, so the only real connection you still have with them is level 1-30 PS.
Assuming Jennah could have escaped, that means they would have lost Ebonhawke, and the Ministry would probably use that as an excuse to start a rebellion against Jennah’s rule, saying she’s weak and can’t even keep control of the Ascalonian city and blah blah
Also @Konig, I know he’s not her slave, i said “basically”, didn’t remember the exact way that she mesmerized him
In the books, Jennah basically makes him her slave, so if she summons him, he has to protect her. And she was in Ebonhawke or something when Kralk was waking, so the Ogres (or charr, can’t remember) were attacking, and he went to protect her instead.
A dev makes mention of this in the Queen’s Jubilee forum. They said something about fixing it, and that Braham and Rox are gonna be in the next update as well
