That means it’s below you, or above you if the arrow points up. For that particular one, try going to the water and swimming to the point. You’ll find it’s a cave with a quaggan who mocks you.
I’d say Engineer is better at disorientation/has more builds that work in 1v1 than Ele. Hopefully more people give input, but as far as I’ve faced in PvP, only one ele has really caused me trouble because of constant stuns and kd’s.
Actually, the game discourages just mindlessly killing mobs. Sure, you can do it for a while (with experience boosters and killing the correct mobs) to get lots of exp, and I’ll be honest it’s strangely satisfying since the game conditions you to not do it. But anyway, I’d suggest not just grinding mobs, Ignavia listed a lot of ways to get experience, and the most important one imo is doing events. They reward 7% of a level just for completing, and if you find lots of them then you’ll be flying in no time.
Not on an EU server so can’t help you there. 2. I’d say Necro is a good choice, it’s a very easy class to play in PvP, and PvE is alright as well. There’s no healers in this class, the most supportive being a Guardian or perhaps staff Ele, but even then the meta build for this game is to go full DPS. As far as ranged classes go, Necro is alright as I said, Ele has a bit higher learning curve, and Mesmer is probably the hardest of the scholars. Rangers are easy to understand, if not undervalued by the community as a whole. Thieves ranged-wise are rarer imo, but you’ll see a lot of them in PvP (generally melee thieves at that). Engineer is a very fun class, with lots of playstyles. Warrior is probably the most used class right now, and they’re also an easy class to excel in. As for the latter part of this question, all currencies are account bound, meaning you don’t have to send mails to yourself (gold, karma, gems, glory, and other tokens are all stored in your wallet, which you can access any time). Items are generally soulbound (meaning per character), but you can store items in your bank for ‘trading’ with your other characters.
3. Again, on an NA server, and my guild is kinda specialized in the lore of the world, but I’d be willing to help out when I’m online with questions.
4. Levelling is not as bad as in other MMO’s (most recent one I’ve played is SWtOR, and that takes forever, nowhere near the max level). You’ll get a level at least every hour if you play correctly (might be skewed, when you play for a while you get boosters for experience and such).
Yep, I carry a weapon of every type for my class, and occasionally another armor set in my invisible bag. Also minis, but they fixed it so the deposit collectibles doesn’t do minis anymore
keep making dem clovers imo
hope that you don’t actually get clovers, it gives you loads of T6 mats if it fails (or sometimes not so wanted T6 rotten flesh stuff). If you aren’t using your laurels, grab a bunch of the T6 bags (I think it’s a couple mats for 1 laurel each).
Thanks for the headups, although again it’s a lot of “we’re saving it for later”. Hopefully we’ll see them come to fruition, there were actually a lot of cool points brought up that we get no immediate answers for (Taimi, Garm/Eir)
sorry man, you’ll probably find better feedback on the fangen content forum. this is less Rp and more players talking about the world of Tyria
I see people use the Rampage elite sometimes in PvP, lots of stuns and kd’s, so it’s kinda annoying to deal with. Avatar of Melandru I see less of, mainly because racials are generally weaker/less useful of skills, so I can’t comment there x.x
They didn’t plan on making new classes, so there’s obviously no news about it. If anything, we’d get new races, and we still don’t have news on that. Only new class we’d get is a third heavy related to dark paladins or something

no written lore, only speculations/obvious associations. There was datamined info on some sort of text for Legendaries, but that’s yet to be implemented (most likely won’t be seeing any of that stuff until the maintenance patches after Scarlet’s done)
Pretty sure this is before the patch update
Ah, the Modus Sceleri events. Yeah, one spawns near the Priory, another is in Fireheart Rise (don’t know the waypoint, but it’s the same event). There’s also one in FR on the east side, there’s like an initiation fight going on and you can activate it to fight in a battle royale. A similar one is in Lornar’s I believe, by the ettins in the south of the map. Just wiki Modus Sceleri, lots of weird stuff going on with them, wish they’d remember those guys x.x
Yeah, Berserker is an all around favorite, so it should be fine on an Engi too. A cheaper/more resilient version is the Valkyrie set. As far as skills go, I prefer Pistol/Shield, and toggling to a tool kit. I don’t usually use the elixir gun, but Grenades are good as I said, and flamethrower is fun.
Carrion set for engi isn’t bad, it’s just condition damage is generally looked upon as a weaker form of damage than pure power.
First I’d check the Guild Wars 2 Wiki, since it has lots of detailed articles about the basics of core gameplay (crafting, dungeos, game modes, etc)
But to be more specific to your questions, I’d say start crafting in the Leatherworking line, and also the Huntsman. There’s no rush, so just do what you can as you can. As for upgrading your gear, assuming you haven’t started crafting, the fastest would be buying off the TP or running dungeons for gear. Just try to get all exotics as soon as you can, which will go quicker than you think (if you run the main fast dungeons, you’ll get easily 5+ gold a day, plus tokens for exotic gear). I don’t main an engineer, so I don’t know a specific build, but the meta stats right now are power, precision, and crit damage, which is the “Berserker” gear set. I’d put points into the Explosives trait line, and trait for grenade kit. It’s a pretty solid weapon of choice for Engi, I know it’s a popular kit for WvW so I assume it’s alright for PvE as well.
Taimi…
Probably more but need 15 chars
It almost looks more like Zhaitan than Primordus now x.x
The tails are tentacleish, and the head-looking things were a motif of Zhaitan as well. While I’m more inclined to believe she’s connected to Primordus, if it were Zhaitan that could tie in the Tequatl update
Might be misinformation since I haven’t been playing for a bit
I was doing a lot of PvP since the change, so I finally used my boosters, and before I went on hiatus I just activated all the boosters I had and I believe it went up to 70ish hours of the pvp booster. So when I say stack, I mean the time is additive (again, might be wrong, but you can just use two and see if it adds up to 2 hours before you go on a splurge)
Use your boosters now, they’ll stack anyway (I used the 70 or so I had on a character I planned on perma pvp’ing with). The glory rewards will be around for an unknown amount of time, however, Anet will give a warning when the new reward system is in place, so you can spend all your glory then.
I think technically the LS is supposed to take place any time, but for simplicity’s sake before the PS. Back to the question, I’m pretty sure the ‘secret deep below’ is just the wurm boss, since it is below the whole of the map and is a new ‘raid’ boss. For it’s origins, i honestly thought right away that it was connected to the Toxic Alliance. I don’t think it’s tied to Mordremoth (since the Great Jungle Wurm is possibly his).
The voice changes for every dang trailer, so at this point I haven’t even bothered with figuring out who it is speaking, I think it’s just dramatic now. The article did say a new asuran character would join the LS heroes (Kasmeer, Marjory, Rox, Braham), but I doubt that’s the voice we heard. As for Lornar’s Pass, the Durmand Priory is a strong magical presence, so Scarlet could probably be trying to siege it (given the size of her Marionette, it’s possible).
1000 influence is a lot of game time for a personal guild (it’s definitely cheaper, being only 1 silver in the long run), but other than buying an influence scroll, you’ll be doing a lot of events, dungeons, and whatever you can to get that 1k. Events are 2 influence each, PvP matches I think are 5, Dungeons are 10, Logging in is 10 a day.
Dungeons give 75% of a level upon completion of a path. Personal Story missions give 25% of a level. Events don’t give anywhere near this amount, but at the rate that you can complete them, they give a lot of exp eventually (they also give more if you’re closer to the level, and not downlevelling). Hearts give about the same amount as events I think (don’t have any evidence for this, haven’t paid much attention), but they’re a one time thing, so…
There are no quests in the traditional sense. What you referred (the giant wurm) was probably an event, which are numerous in each zone. All you have to do for those is kill, gather stuff, escort someone, traditional quest goals in a sense, and when it’s completed, you will automatically be rewarded money, experience, and karma, which is another currency. There are also ‘heart quests’, which show up as hearts on the map (you can go talk to scouts, which are shown as telescopes on the map to find more hearts). These are also similar to events, but they can only be completed once on a character, and when you do, a vendor becomes unlocked (the heart gets filled and they sell stuff after).
As for combat, your 1-5 skills are preset to correspond to certain weapons for each profession: skills 1-3 for your main hand, 4-5 are your offhand, and 1-5 for a two handed weapon. 6-10 are utility skills, with 6 being a dedicated heal skill, 7-9 being profession skills rather than weapon skills, and there also being some racially dependent ones, and 10 is an elite skill, which is ‘a game changer’ in a fight. Sorry for going on a tangent, but back to your question, the reason you want to use all your skills is because of cooldowns and recharge times. Skill 1 is an autoattack; you can change your autoattack to any skill, but skill 1 is usually a chain of 2-3 attacks, and it is the only move you have with no cooldown. Each skill after that (2, then 3, so on) is theoretically stronger than the last, and will usually have a longer recharge time than the previous. I suggest hovering over each of your skills to see the effects and such, as some skills apply crippling, or bleeding, or something, and just getting used to what attacks you’re doing.
There is probably a guide or two on the forums for your specific profession, but you should probably check out the wiki for specific information on what you want to know.

Yeah, I think the first scout in Metrica Province (and possibly all other first scouts) say that Waypoints are Asuran made devices to facilitate travel
Guardians or Warriors are usually the more team oriented builds, they can give lots of buffs and some heals to others. That being said, in my experience for PvP, it’s better to be more reliant on yourself than others, so you’re gonna wanna be able to do some damage too not just supporting. Warrior has more potential at being a solo player, and are typically damage dealers but like I said, can be good at shout or banner support. Guardians, especially in PvE, are imo the most support oriented class.
Yeah, a heavy class would be good with a thief, but out of the three you want, Ranger is a good starting class. Pet can tank for the two of you, and it’s pretty easy survival wise. Engineer and Mesmer are a bit more difficult to grasp, but they’re fun and useful in their own ways.
If you go to the specific potions, you can get a full list of enemies that fall in that category. For the Fire Elemental, that counts as an Elemental (the meta event in Metrica). There’s only one human slaying tonic, so you could try that for any human bosses, but they might not fit under that category (outlaw slaying)
Nice read, actually pretty informative (I’m sure I once knew this, but was a nice refresher about the other buffs that defiance gives). Definitely useful knowledge for smaller servers, but in my experience on SoR, we haven’t had trouble with mega bosses because of defiance stacks.
People mainly play War and Guard in dungeons now, with Mesmers being common and helpful as well. Most other classes have niche roles if any, but the latter three you mentioned I’d say Ele or Engi are the more common.
If you’ve only got one legendary, the effects will show up no matter which hand it’s in.
I used it on one of my characters at least a month ago, I do play a lot of characters, so I might not have played this one enough to know, but thus far I’ve had no soulbound item issues
Easy listening from Wooden Potatoes, it’s basic enough to get the story of GW1 (the very first one, he’s working on the expansions) in a narrative sense, since it seems like you just want the plotline.
Like Vayne said, you’ll be stronger at an 80 scaled down than a 10 in a 10 level zone, due to armor/weapons and traits. If all you REALLY want to do is champ farm in Queensdale, then I suppose there’s no point in ever leveling.
Humans are taking a more traditional elvish role in GW compared to other MMOs, they’re on their last legs and are generally more magically adept (along with Sylvari and Asura) than the other races. All the races have hints of real life human cultures, such as the Charr being heavily influenced by Roman culture.
Maybe after he lost his job, the programming went awry and he overcame his inhibitor? It seems the real shift is after Southsun’s events, to me the article claims that it’s just a regular golem made for a task of slave driving.
Stats are same, yes, but the one up that a legendary has is the ability to switch stats whenever (you’re not in combat). If you only ever want zerker stats, then it’s cheaper to just get the ascended gs.
If you’re ok with the grind of farming, then frostgorge is the way to go. Personally, I’d just do the CoE paths everyday, you get 3 gold from just running the dungeon, plus a chance of charged cores/stones and champ bags. You can also use the dungeon tokens to get exotics for ectos
Couldn’t he just send it in increments instead of all at once?
(I didn’t realize there was even a counter measure against something like this, so I don’t have an answer)
33% i believe, from the actual buff called ‘swiftness’. Most professions (if not all) have a trait that give 25% boost, but the actual buff is the fastest you can go
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Equipment_acquisition_by_stats
No, looks like only through crafting and the mystic forge.
In a sense, yes. In PvE, you can armor spec, putting certain stats into your armor and weapons. In PvP, that’s removed, so the base damage and defense is the same. That being said, you still have traits, so you’re probably not specced into defensive traits.
They could use at a mass production area for airships ;p
And what I was trying to say is that the Pact would be a neutral party with ‘claim’ to it until there’s a time when everyone can actually dispute their right to it.
Who in their right mind is trying to settle Southsun?
As for Orr, I’d say that the Pact would govern it first, and decide who can keep it.
The invasions still occur, just not nearly as frequently. I haven’t checked which ones, but I’m fairly certain that all of them can spawn steam creatures; there’s a phase where you fight only twisted creatures, and sometimes there are steam creatures among them.
The thing in the picture is only in Gendarran, you had to look at it for a part of a ‘quest’ to get to “Scarlet’s Playhouse”
Solo and Team arenas give more glory for participating than just hotmatch joining. As IVIUIEI (…) said, doing all those can get you some more glory, assuming you do the most on your team, you get a reward called “top player” in that category.
That was from Queen’s Speech patch, when Scarlet’s invasions were running 24/7
The gloves might be the same armor set. The chest, legs, and helm are Phalanx, you get it from the gem store. Not sure on the boots, but probably T3 or phalanx as well
For number 5, the only thing I can think of is that Caithe probably didn’t want to entangle the PC with Orr and Zhaitan. She was probably just looking out for us, knowing how bad they are (even though she knows our Wyld Hunt is for dragons x.x)
Always get new armor as you go, the stats will only increase. I tend to salvage everything I don’t use, but if you don’t want to do that, you can salvage white (items with white text) items and ‘salvageable’ stuff. Blue and green items give essence of luck, which increase magic find-increasing overall chances of getting even better loot. But, if you’re kitten money, it’s fine to sell those two rarities. Personally, when I’m still leveling to 80, I don’t focus on the runes I have; you CAN upgrade your armor both by level and runes as you go, but I tend to just pick up whatever loot I find and stick it on if it’s better.
In the long run, you should probably start crafting now, so that when you’re 80, you’re at a decent crafting level. When you max your crafting, you can obtain ascended items, which is one of the few ways to get that max tier of weapon/armor. For Ranger, Leatherworker is good, as is Huntsman or Weaponsmith, depending on which weapons you use. PvP is alright (this is very subjective, as I have just four days ago gotten into it, and they’re making changes in a radical way to how it works). You can earn gold for competing in PvP matches, but other than that, nothing carries over to PvE (yet, like I said, I’m not big in the scene, but they might change some other things related). WvW is fun, if you understand what’s going on. I suggest you see if your server has a voice chat server and jump into one of the borderlands for a little bit, to see if you like it.
