and people raging because they have warriors on their team xD
As this warrior facestomps them.
If the warrior on my team facestomped me, I would be raging too.
You’re supposed to facestomp the other team!
Server numbers above 100 are 5v5 instead of 8v8. Try those instead. You can even create a filter to just show you 5v5 servers.
What do we do if you have 2 players? Or 3? Or 4?
Does that go into the team queue or the solo queue? If it’s the team queue, would we have to wait for another group to queue up with exactly the right number to make the difference? How about if there’s 4 of us … there would never be somebody queued solo.
Will this make it impossible for 2-4 players to reliably play tournaments together?
P.S. Something is wrong with creating new topics. It puts a bunch of extra letters in the title as soon as you try to submit.
Players who are not even remotely interested in WvW queue up and join WvW because it provides easy access to merchant, bank, TP and crafting station.
Either remove those services from WvW or provide even easier way to access the services outside WvW. As we have seen waypointing to Lion’s Arch and then travelling back is too much effort and cost for PvE players.
I would be happy with PvE players heving access those services anywhere, anytime, for free and immediately BUT outside WvW queues. For example put those into player’s home instance with free of charge waypoint and a return to where you were portal.
Simple solution would be to put those services in heart of the mists.
Free LA Port is Easy… Port to PvP Mists, or to WvW walk through big Purple gate. Boom you’re in LA for free.
I think the point is, if it’s this easy and everybody does it anyway, why not just make the port to LA (or any city) free to begin with?
Having this step in between is a waste of player time and server resources.
You know there’s a fairly good chance of getting a charged quartz from your home instance node? I’ve received 3 or 4 of them that way. Cuts down the time a little bit.
I have yet to get one from that. I’ve only done it 3 times so far (since I keep forgetting about it), with the molten pick, so thats not really saying anything.
From what I’ve seen so far it seems to be roughly a 1 in 4 or 1 in 5 chance. Guild and WvW gathering bonuses likely help.

Towards the end of our 3rd fractal, we got the message, a new build will occur in 3 hours. That was ten minutes ago. One minute ago we were all booted from the game while the patch comes in, and now I’ll have to start over the fractal run from scratch. This also means for me that It’ll take an extra day to get a time-gated ascended ring. I’m really frustrated with this and I think that a more appropriate warning for when the patch would happen should’ve been used so my time wouldn’t be wasted. Sorry to complain, but seriously?
Normally when a patch hits it allows people in instances (dungeons and fractals) 3 hours to complete.
Note that this does not mean the patch will come in 3 hours, it means the patch has already come but they’re giving you 3 hours on the old build to finish up what you were doing.
Usually you’re fine unless you leave the instance, but I guess in this case something went wrong.
Yea, Why the hell do they take wvw + pvp down so early? They could just leave them open like pve and close when the kitten patch is ready.
They are most likely not built the same way the PvE server are and could therefore be more likely to screw something up with a patch.
The reason why they take down WvW before a patch …
When they put out a patch they have two versions of the server running at the same time, the old one and the new one. This is why, with a short patch, you can exit the game as soon as you get the 3 minute warning and be back in before some people have even left yet.
This is also why people doing dungeons have 3 hours to finish, but as they leave they’ll get kicked out (and they can’t bring in replacements because they are on a different client version).
Having two versions of WvW running at the same time would not really work. This is why WvW is shut down until the patch is done.
Why they shut WvW down so long before the patch this time I can’t tell you. I suspect it’s taking longer than expected, and a lot of the time when something like this comes up it’s hard even for the people fixing it to give a time estimate, so they’re not going to bring it up again just to have to bring it down again in what could only be minutes.
A jumping puzzle is man vs environment (with occasional man vs ai enemy)
throwing a Jumping Puzzle and making it a pvp area is one of the stupidest ideas I ever seen implemented. Infact it’s ANTI-fun.If you’re on a low populated server, the only possible way you can get this done is to go with a massive zerg of people and make sure everyone gets to each spot at the same time.
If you’re on a low-pop server, you’re fighting other low-pop servers. The tiers aren’t really skill, they are coverage.
As others have said, doing it with other people is probably your best option. Either that or go and take their keeps so they can’t access the JP.
I mentioned this in another thread, but remember that ascended have no upgrade slot.
This doesn’t matter much with trinkets as the only thing you could put in them was jewels anyway. You lost a little bit of flexibility in your build, but generally this is not a major concern.
But with armor … runes are completely different. First you have special effects that many won’t want to give up (warrior/guardian with soldier runes is probably a good example). Second, you get a pretty good boost to a single stat which will probably exceed the boost from exotic to ascended.
I think for many builds, you will still be better off with exotics.
Well you still need the shards to make it, so you need to run the fotm level that drops it. I think it’s lvl 20.
That’s better than running <fotm 10 and hoping for a bunch of globs to upgrade.
You just need a vial of condensed mists (which drops in 1-9), which he says he has already. After that you just need the 24 skill points, 50 ectos, and 250 of a T6 mat.
One thing a lot of people aren’t considering is that there’s no upgrade slot on ascended items. That’s not a huge deal on trinkets where you could only put a jewel in, but with armor are you going to give up all the special effects from Runes?
It’s also likely that the single stat bonus from a rune set will exceed the small bonus you may get to that stat from ascended over exotic.
Shout warriors and guardians, are you willing to give up your soldier runes for a small increase in stats and likely lower vit/tough?
1. 80 Ranger: 1,219 hours; 2,711 deaths
2. 80 Necro: 438 hours; 963 deaths
3. 80 Guardian: 235 hours; 330 deaths
4. 80 Warrior: 146 hours; 228 deaths
Of course PvP and WvW players will have much higher death counts than those who only PvE.
Before anyone can make them? I have 2 pieces already.
With or without MF, Celestial is perfect for what I do on my ranger. Which is mostly just open world stuff … dailies, explorer achievements, guild missions. I do dungeons, fractals, and WvW on other characters.
Blueprint storage. For the stash anyway. Anyone can donate their blueprints and our officers and commanders can withdraw.
We also keep 10 vault transports built so it can be accessed from a WvW map if the commander forgot to stock up prior.
The other two panels are pretty much a free-for-all.
If it means that much to you, you can still go to GW1 and complete them.
Outside of the PvP stuff, most of it can be done with just heroes. If you really want some company, I know there’s some people in my guild who are happy to go back to help people out and I imagine it’s the same for any reasonably sized guild.
You miss the point of this thread. I didn’t make this thread so you could tell me/us how much better Radiant is than Hellfire. I made this thread so you could write how much better they could have been made.
Looks really kittening wierd with silver colour on gauntlets when my armour is gold/black. Can’t even dye them.
Well then the appropriate action is for you to adjust your dyes. Not expect the shine color to adjust to you.
No. I don’t want a full set of armour in silver. Make the whole gauntlet shine instead. No point in leaving a part of the gauntlet silver or whatever colour it is and then don’t let us dye it.
No, I don’t really want a 100% glowing armor set thank you.
I like the silver, but I guess it would be nice if you could dye that part.
They’re fine. I previewed all 3 pieces from both sets in the PvP locker before deciding, and I think the radiant is the better of the two.
I’m at 7k and change on achievements (top 10% of players). I got them just by playing the game without intent to fulfill them for achievement points. I do, however admit to playing the game too much.
I do do the new content as it’s new and fresh. I usually get my dailies done just goofing around.
I will admit to using the achievements panel on Jumping Puzzles, not to max them out but to find ones I had overlooked.
I’m just shy of 8,500 and I’m the same. However, I do enjoy having a task in the game so I’ll try to complete as many daily categories as I can (PvE, PvP, and WvW). Usually there’s only a few left after just playing the game normally.
I also try to complete as much living story as I can, got everything but the charged quartz done in this one.
You don’t have to do anything. The rewards are always available without completing all the achievements, maybe there’s 10 or 20 points you won’t get … that just means you might need to wait a couple more days to get your next chest. I didn’t get the two hard dungeon achievements in the last one, that’s 30 points I think, but I’m not crying over it.
People will probably calm down about it a little bit once we stop getting the reward backlog.
(edited by Nabrok.9023)
Oh relax, there isn’t a single thing on the gem store that you “need” to buy. This is not anywhere close to where most F2P games are.
And a lot of people like the temporary content, and honestly I don’t really want an expansion if it means I need to regear all my characters. No thanks.
ok well im gettin mixeds answers sinc i done the best daily can i still get a lower lvbl lvl 18daily
You’re not getting mixed answers.
If you’re level 27, the highest chest you will get will be the level 20-28 chest, regardless of what difficulty the actual fractal is.
For example, if you do a 28 fractal you’ll get your 20-28 chest, and you’ll move up to personal level 28. If you then do a 38 fractal, your personal reward is still only 28 so you’ve already had your chest.
You can go back to do a 10-18 and get a chest from that. You could also get a chest for 2-8, but no pristine in those.
Once you get up to level 30, you can get up to 4 chests/day (2-8, 10-18, 20-28, 30-38).
Awesome addition to the game, I really love how it works with transformations too.
You can also bring it out when you are dead.
On the other hand.. The kites also have a function as Badge of Shame. Everybody can now see who buys gems and so helps to keep the gem-store focus alive.
Oh yes, how shameful it is that we chose to support the game we enjoy playing.
I will now hide in the corner (with my kite), while you continue to play the game we helped pay for.
This needs to be fixed. It’s ridiculous. I don’t know if it’s bugged or just bad design, either way it needs a fix.
Can’t you forge unidentified dye with PvP salvage materials and then sell those?
For now, we only know what we get up until 3000 points. At 1000 points (That chest is rewarded tomorrow) you get a choice between Long bow, Short bow, Staff, Greatsword and Hammer. Then at 2000 (which is rewarded in 3 days) you get the same choice as before, meaning you can choose a second skin. At 3000 you get the choice between the 2 armor skins available. My guess is that at 4000 you get another weapon skin, but as we can’t see further than 3000 it’s only a guess.
Hope i could help! Have a nice day ^^

Thank you for your answer.
I think thats a litte bit stupid. Becous we won’t be able to get the skins on all our alts. I really like all the Zenith Skins but it is impossible for me to get it on all 3 of my professions.
Having an alt myself I understand why you feel the alt will be left out however it is as fair as it can get at the current situation. It is supposed to rewards players and despite how many alts you have, you are still considered as a single player.
On the contrary this is great for people with alts. I picked the warhorn and I am using it on my warrior, necro, and ranger.
So tomorrow you have to have 2000 acheivment points to get another large ach chest, which containts a second zenith skin which can be unlocked, the first time around i got a short bow for my main, but i really want the hammer for my warrior that im trying to cap, but im only at 1300 ach points and getting another 700 points bye tomorrow seems impossible.:(
You don’t have to have them by tomorrow. You’ll get the chest when you reach 2,000. And one when you reach 1,500 before that.

Once you select a skin you can get it as many times as you like.
For example, if you had a warrior, guardian, ranger, and mesmer and you picked the greatsword skin you can equip all of them with the skin.
Simply go to your achievement panel, select the skin under “Unlocked Rewards” and click the withdraw button.
I guess I can see the reason for it as people could accidentally spend a lot of influence, but I would prefer if it didn’t prompt. It takes long enough managing all the stuff I need to build.
At least they could have fixed it so that the crafting column actually disappears when I uncheck it.
Even if you never PvP, there are some places in the game that use your PvP armor.
Mostly mini-games. For example the race in the current living story uses your PvP armor.
You can use the deposit all option instead of depositing them individually.
Word of note to people considering this axe, it is by far the most lacklustre of the trio. The model itself is very nice however the animation is incredibly underwhelming. I suggest anyone debating whether to buy it or not go find a video of it being used somewhere and check it first, even if you are a person like me who doesn’t like to spoil the surprise. It is much worse than even the Sickle.
Unlimited uses. Never running out of tools in mid-gather again. I’d buy it if it had no animation at all.
I think it will be account bound (and permanent) like any meta achivement before , because the achivementsystem of GW2 is account bound.
The bigger question for me:
Can i harvest quartz with the permanent harvest tools from the gem store?!
(don’t know if it will be axe, hack or sickle)
Quartz is a rock. Well, a mineral. So only the mining pick makes sense.
Has there been any word on this?
It would be extremely useful to be able to save builds. Preferably including what equipment you’re wearing, but I’ll settle for traits & utilities only.
After that, it’s exactly the same as it’s always been. Highest goes green, lowest goes red.gs.
http://mos.millenium.org/matchups
Not rly, (this is europe matchups)
Tier 2, 3, 5, 6, 7 and 8 show that it isn’t like that anymore.Tier 7 is the best example rly, Gunnar’s hold has more rating than other two servers together.
ok, let’s try to explain this with an example. Let’s say server A has a rating of 1,600 and server B has a rating of 1,500.
Server A’s match-up rating might be anywhere between 1,400 and 1,800.
Server B’s match-up rating might be anywhere between 1,200 and 1,700.
If server A rolled low their match-up rating might be 1,450.
If server B rolled high their rating might be 1,600.
In this situation, server B becomes green.
However, because server A starts out 100 points higher than B and the range of possible values is the same, it is far more likely that A will be green.
More likely does not mean always.
If you look at NA matches, four out of the eight have the highest ranked server as green. If it was entirely random you would expect 33%, not 50%.
Here’s the thing … the match system hasn’t really changed.
What did change, instead of the system saying “your rating is X”, it says “your rating is somewhere between Y and Z”.
As we play against more varied opponents, the system gets more confident in the rating and the difference between Y and Z will get smaller. Arena-net could also make some adjustments to the calculation to bring the range down quicker.
This means, once the range is small enough, we will be playing the same servers most of the time (as before), but unlike before the colors will swap more frequently and we’ll see the occasional server jump up or down every now and then.
Honestly, I haven’t seen lag at all since the second round of improvements they made.
Then you must not play wvw enough or only use autoattack. I dont think anyone can avoid noticing skills that doesnt work when there is no one around you. Just today I was running out from a borderland spawn (maybe 10 random players there) and popped temp curtain for speed. Nothing happened. Did it again. Nothing. On the 10th try, the curtain pops some 10m behind me. Yeah… I was alone when running out and saw neither friendly nor foe.
Lets not even begin to discuss what happen in 50v50 zerg clashes inside Stonemist.
If you havent seen this then congratulations, you’re the eqvivalent of finding a precursor.
I saw it plenty before the second set of optimizations they announced. The first set didn’t seem to help a lot.
I don’t play EB as much as borders, so maybe that’s something to do with it, but in my experience it has been much, much better.
The match-ups are not entirely random.
There is a margin of error in a servers rating. The randomness is to account for that. Instead of saying your server is this rating, it says your server is somewhere between this rating and that rating.
When the matches are determined, the rating used is a random number between those two values.
After that, it’s exactly the same as it’s always been. Highest goes green, lowest goes red.
As the deviation gets lower (which I think it should with lots of varied matches, my understanding of the math is a bit fuzzy here), there is a shorter range your rating could fall into, which means we shouldn’t get quite as many weird matches as we have been getting.
This also means that generally if you have the highest rating you are most likely to be green, especially if the other servers have significantly lower ratings.
Honestly, I haven’t seen lag at all since the second round of improvements they made.
I know you already answered your own question, but the answer is also given in the stickied API documentation thread.
event_details lists the event’s static starting position (where the event is located by default when the server starts), so if the event moves around, it’s not accurate. It also doesn’t take the server into account, so you wouldn’t be able to lookup where it is on your server anyways.
With a guild bounty, the event doesn’t actually move, but the start point could be almost anywhere on the map. But yeah, good point about no server parameter.
Now that we have a maps API, the coordinates for WvW objectives would be greatly appreciated. (beside the correct objective names and types)
Yeah, I figured them out by changing the example script to use the WvW map and clicking on each of the locations (which outputs the co-ordinates to the javascript console). But, it would be nice to have this so that I could just import them, especially if there are any changes/additions in the future.
Once the target has been found and the event activated is the location accurate?
Things I want to see on the guild API (some of these may be dependent on the OAuth system completion):
Member List
Upgrades (and buff activations?)
Currency Information (influence, merits, etc)
Member list with online/offline status
Member last online date
Member last rep date
Guild Chat (eventually? please?)Since the in-game guild tools are somewhat lacking, the ability to write an informational app for use by guild leaders would be great. Roster management/maintenance/culling is pretty much impossible in-game at this point.
Hey Hick!
In DIS we use the achievements leaderboard for roster maintenance. If you login you can filter it by guild. If you hover over peoples points it gives the date they last earned a point. This isn’t very practical with a large guild, but what you can do is append ?pjax=1 to the URL and you get an ugly table, but one that includes the date you can just copy/paste into something else.
For DIS the exact procedure is:
Copy the table into a text editor
Search and replace " Since " with a tab character (puts the dates in a column by themselves)
Search and replace " PDT" with nothing (allows google spreadsheet to recognize it as a date).
Copy and paste into a google docs spreadsheet.
You need a bit more editing for anybody in the top 1000 as they’ll have an extra column.
Then we sort by date and anybody who hasn’t gained an achievement point in the past month gets set to an inactive rank.
If we see anybody at the inactive rank online we promote them (just in case somebody manages to play without ever getting an achievement point).
Next time we do this, anybody still at inactive is removed.
We do this twice a month. It’s a pain, but it works.
I found it … maxZoom needed to be changed from 7 to 6.
They have to be using mumble and have sending location turned on, which in my experience, most do not have on.
It is great when somebody says “over here” and it actually means something though!
I’m trying to modify the example script to show the WvW map.
First thing I did was change the tileLayer URL to https://tiles.guildwars2.com/2/3/{z}/{x}/{y}.jpg
I changed the southWest and northEast co-ordinates…
southWest = unproject([5118, 16382]);
northEast = unproject([16382, 6922]);
I changed the continent_id and floor to 2 and 3 respectively in the JSON call.
The waypoint markers seem to show up in the correct places for for the bounding box defined, but the map itself is way off.
What am I missing?
I think https://api.guildwars2.com/v1/wvw/match_details.json needs to include timestamps to show the last time ownership changed (or to show when the current ownership took effect).
The reason for this is, many people are relying on the API to detect when an objective changes hands, at which time they start a 5 minute countdown so they’ll know when the objective becomes ‘capturable’ again. in order to get one-second accuracy on the countdown, this means you need to query that API around twice a second. that’s a lot.
People doing this could dramatically reduce their query frequency if the results included a timestamp showing when the ownership change occurred.
-ken
That’s crazy, you don’t need that level of accuracy.
Does it really matter if you get to the camp a few seconds after the buff expires? Even if you answered yes to that, you couldn’t really do it anyway as the API can sometimes take a few seconds to respond.
I don’t see any reason to pull match_details more than about every 5 seconds.
https://leaderboards.guildwars2.com/en/na/wvw
Any of the top 6 and you should be fine. Top 9 if you don’t mind being the underdog more often.
If you’re planning on doing structured PvP as well (5v5s or 8v8s) it doesn’t matter what server you pick, it’s all regional.
I believe that’s the plan. Though, I think it would be great if chat was via XMPP or something like that. Admittedly I’m not all that familiar with XMPP, so not sure how feasible that would be.
My guild already has an application process on our website, it would be pretty awesome if clicking “Accept” on the website also sent out an in-game invitation, and perhaps even a “Welcome!” in-game mail.
