Nothing really sinister just people who mapped out what they wanted and needed to do from day 1. They bought gold and took control of the market right at the start. Hell I wish I had done it. But I am learning. From what I gathered the top 5 have about 65% of the control and top 25 have about95% of market control.
Has nothing to do with paranoia but economics, control and wealth distribution.

The only thing legendary about a legendary at all is how long it takes to gather mats needed to craft them. They have the exact same stats as exotics and a different skin. As it stands now, that doesn’t justify the insane grind needed to craft the legendary items.
People keep saying they are buffing legendaries. They are going to be better than excotics. I can comfirm this myself, but alot people are saying it
It was lindsey murdoch/marshall? cant rem who stated they will be upgrade in stats to BIS no matter what whenever any new tiers are released. Do the grind now and never do it again. Nice selling point.
My issue isnt the grind but the dumb RNG and Precursor stuff that is horrible and doesnt belong. Not dumb kitten luck the determines if you get something.
They should be an epic adventure and show that you put time in and showed skill and determination. That way they truly represent some level of mastery of the game. Now I can just buy gems →gold and go to TP and bang there it is. Woop I am awesome and rulze da game.
So for me I could care less about seeing them they show no in game representation of skill but that you got lucky or exploited or bought gold legal or not. And for those who did it without that it is an accomplishment but arent that common.
I dont see the problem. If you cant keep up buy gems and covert to gold. That is the option and what Anet obviously intend for us to do. They encouraged the market inflation and at the same time decreased open world loot to 0 all in an order to force those who dont do fractals 24/7 to buy gems.
Play Their way and be ok or Play the way you want and Pay Real Money to keep up. The only final option is what I do – I log in to trade only I dont play for fun anymore because I get 0 rewards for doing the things I enjoy.
Ps there are about 5 people that own the precursor and legendary market and they have over 50k g each easy so they could relist forever if they wanted.

You do realize that they are all controlled my a few people right? That just gives the illusion that there are more than a handful of actual listers. They own all the legendaries and buy others that are listed immediately and remove them from the market.
They control exactly how much each one is sold for and ensure a monopoly on the ultra high end stuff.
The game is in trouble. It has shed the vast majority of the population it started with and the exodus continues. I dont want to do a huge post about all the bad decisions Anet has made. Accounts on a server does not equal the amount of people playing or population concurrently online. Just the amount of people who have their account on it.
PVE – open world loot drops =0. The nerfed open world loot drops to the level of porous bones – not enough to cover way points.
No one is out there try to do plinx but you have to wait till 7-10pm cause that is the only time people are on to run the full cycle and you get 10% of the loot you got before Nov 15.
They introduced the Fractal dungeon and Ascend grind gear. Gated gear content that is a huge grind. But it has the best loot and best gear drops so that is all people do.Funnel everyone to LA to spam LFG.
Spvp- done like dinner outside a few hours like PVE
WvW – stale they let it go way to long without addressing the issues and outside of T1 there isnt a q for anything. But there will be an update to add a little more in the future. Soon*
Anet has exhibited the same kinda of management decisions that are associated with Bioware and on the same level of impact on the player population.
Balance is way out of whack still and dueling doesnt happen (but you can in SPVP cause there isnt anyone in there). You may want check out ascend gear if you like that kind of grind for endgame. That is a quick update of the state of the game.

I wouldnt doubt it because I am sure there will be charge backs for banning them. Nov 15 was the same they refused a lot of refunds so people went to the CC companies for help.
I would expect that there is more to the charge back and fees above and beyond the refund and it would simply be a better business decision to pay them off then incur the penalties and raised CC transaction fees because the company has a lower standing with Visa/MC or whatever company.
Which of course would effect revenue from the sale of gems/expansion in the long run as well. Eating away at the profit long term is far greater than a payout.
I agree with what you are saying, give some quality of life things and let us enjoy the game. However this game doesnt have time – it is in trouble.
I will help you and hopefully you will get the ah ha moment. It is a direct replication of Bioware and Tor.
Tor launched and had ability delay in the game it affected the republic more so but they kept saying no nothing wrong at all it is your computer. Patch 1.2 notes- fixed ability delay
Anet and security – they were warned about security and issues what happened is they blamed us the player and not them who developed the game. 1.5 months later guess what added security and an app but it was still our fault. Stop going to nefarious sites/ bad password.
Hacking/exploiting/forum moderation – At the start Bioware said there wasnt any and no
way to report people. If you did try Bam- nasty gram and you get a nice 3 Day time Out.
In Tor the Valor exploiter on Illum where able to keep their speed levels as well cause Bioware needed the subs and new things were going badly for them.
Anet- Ring any Bells? Bots no way to report/gold sellers. Hacking there were no hacks in WvW or anything you were just a noob who didnt understand mechanics. By the time they decided there was a problem it was too far gone to control and WvW most people have left because of Orbs/Hacks and free transfers.
As for the Karma Weapons exploiters they were unbanned on the promise that they deleted their gold. lots kept it – at least the ones I knew about.
Say anything on these boards and Nasty-gram. I dont blame the mods at all they take a lot of abuse from Us it is just them doing what they are told to do.
This is just the opening few weeks of each games life and they mirror very well. You can trace the Bio decisions and compare them to Anet decisions and see the ramifications are very similar.The one thing it has going for it is that there is no sub fee. What I can say is that of my friends I am the only one playing and after whatever caused them to leave they havent come back.
I truly hope Anet can right the ship because we all know how Tor is and GW2 isnt far behind. Just take a look at the biggest MMO 2012 mistakes. And Before you go and GW2 is game of the year – So was Tor.

Let me see World PvP against another server and you want to do 1V1. Wrong choice of location to do it.
If it is red it is dead.
Either take it to the most secluded part of the map at an agreed upon time and take the chance of the interruption or do it in Spvp.
I see it the same as PVE in WvW as well.
You may be in luck as to what will be released in added content but I dont know what is in store for WvW.
The date on that article is from May so it isnt valid or holds water anymore. Anything pre Nov 15 doesnt matter and has been proven to be a miscommunication or wrong interpretation or whatever they choose to call it this week.
As for legendaries make them worth getting for all professions. Right now that isnt the case some are significantly better than others in my view.
But what they do have going form them is the raise in stats on release of new equipment. So they are future grind proof no matter how hard the new stuff is to obtain. And I do expect it to be one huge grindfest. In perpetuity so that is a major advantage far beyond looks.

Do you mean you loot drops are lower. It happened to me when I came back in Dec.
My plinx runs in pre Nov.15 where 4-6 rares now I get 0. Edit that last night I got 1.
I mean when I did plinx before I never ever got less than 2 rares with full MF and food ect.
But since I came back no matter where in world I go or whatever event I do I get 0 loot mainly crap. Last night 1/2 before patch something changed and I got 1 rare and a few greens instead of the usual porous bones from plinx.
So yes there is something very very very wrong with the open world loot code and they refuse to do anything about it.I think the thing is designed to get you to buy gems. Sorry but if that is how you treat me VS a dungeon runner then no I wont play your game.
Most likely Feb/March release. They borqed the Fracs so bad they need to restore balance to the open world via a scavy hunt.

When I see someone come in with a large quantity and undercut my listing I figure it is a trader. What I do is pull my stack reduce it into 3’s and list them all at significant lower prices than the original under cutter driving down the market price enough that theirs either dont sell at all or are forced to pull and re list to keep up.
Turn about is fair play and this is war. I have deep pockets too so taking a small loss here for fun doesnt matter to me at all.

I may not agree with him on the Bans but I do agree with him that they want you poor or play their way. That is undeniable. If you dont do fracs 24-7 like they want you are poor it is that simple. grind the way they want or buy gems that is how it is.

I am not a crafter so I cant comment on the should have know better however if your able to make money at crafting then something is wrong simply because most other crafting doesnt net that kind of return. Or maybe I need to look into it.

Every time Anet says something it is to restrict/attack me somehow or reduce my ability to make gold. It seems almost assured to tick me off since what they “say” and do are 2 different things especially when it comes to the actual state of the game.
Take a break from content and fix what needs to be fixed(there is a lot) and bring life back into it. Work on the expansion but just leave the game alone for a while please.
Check back in a couple of months you will be very surprised at what is coming down the pipe and this will be in there. It goes with the guild and having more to do as an activity and cohesion to the game – IE endgame. SO look for guild activities (raids) and trinity type mechanics since all dps is a zerg and well that doesnt work so well.
An active happy guild are happy gem buying people or so I am told.
It was a decent and happening place pre nov 15. Plinx and shelt/pen ran on a good timer and the temples where fun to do.
Then the 15th happened and they nerfed plinx and more importantly they killed open world loot. Before I got 4-5 rares for a run now I get 0 and all zones are like this.
The best loot and gear is in the fracs and on top of that Karma as well (plinx use to be good) so everyone stays in LA doing fracs.
Why go out and do DEs when you dont get rewarded the same as a dungeon runner?
I still try cause I dont like dungeons. But that is the main reason for me.
I just wish they banned everyone from the get go from the karma weapons at the start and Araha ect.
Going 0 tolerance now is just bad since there are significantly less players playing the game and contributing to the overall health.
It is just a bad precedent now that they really hit hard whereas before they let you play on and continue to destroy the economy through the many exploits that have been available.

That is how the game is now I am sorry to tell you. I delayed my crafting and because they nerfed every open world loot drop to 0 and porous bones crafting materials are far and few between and expensive.
Add that they included DR on top of the above and frankly there is no point in going out into the world.
My best advice is to grind fracs or dungeons to get gold and buy them when you get higher up in level.
All I can do is wish you luck and to hope bots keep the price down for you because after a ban wave goes out the price of materials spikes for a week.

yup I miss it and expect that there will be a shift to that extent shortly. I see it when they release the raid stuff that there will be a trinity type mechanic included cause no point having 20 people pound on a boss that is a zerg and we know how well that has worked.
If you love dungeons yes rejoin the population.

Open world/Events – dead (orr as well) Anet nerfed plinx and on top of that every open world loot drop has been nerfed to porous bones. I am barely exaggerating – doing explore this weekend all I got was a few bones and blood and porous bones for 10hours of work and killing.
You get 5 blues for jormag not worth the 20 mins.
Pvp- toast outside a few hours cant get anything.
WvW – stale and old but added a breakout event to help the underpowered.

It is so bad that I am going back to just doing the TP again – log in and do trades. I dont like dungeons if that is the only way then I wont play. So 70% of the pop has left cause of all of this.
But a little bit of advise – right after patch goes live there have been reports that things are better for bit then DR hits and back to 0 drops.

It was yes a few months ago. If you saw one it was 99% and exploiter or gold buyer. But now since about month ago most are legit now. Things have become so legit that they are openly traded and not via RMT by shady website.
casuals should take 5 months to get for a time frame and HC 2-3 months was the time frame for it.
They are far beyond vanity now as they will be constantly BIS and perpetually raised to that level forever. That removes all grind in the future for a weapon slot upon release of a tier.See Lindsey Marshalls post for specifics.
And yes you can just buy one at level 1 by converting gems →gold.

It is nice to see the people finally waking up to this. Yes the grind is huge and it is only going to get worse as it seems that is the only thing Anet seems to know how to do.
It appears that is their idea of endgame – grind.
I really hope they have taken some time off to take another look at and fix the game and its economy because soon the only thing that will save it will be F2P and it isnt that far off.

I agree that adding an extra incentive to do earlier level content is a good thing. However this goes against what Anet wants to do.
The have put the best loot and gear all in 1 location fractals. That is what they want people to do.

I think the burden of proof is on you not me. There are allegations and observations about loot drops from Nov15 on and DR before that by 1000s of players.
Prove to me how the drops havet changed and why as an open world player I receive far less per hour than a fractal runner does. Why give 1 player more than another?

Yes we need mounts, duels,lfg.
My favorite that we need is loot roll.
Please bring in gear check as well – I need to know what MF the person beside me is running.
Loot drops for open world are crap. They dont even cover my waypoint costs.
Champs and Vets usually drop nothing – I mean nothing not even porous bones.
So I dont go out in the world. They are trying to squeeze revenue from open world players by making them buy gems all the while rewarding dungeon grinders with loot and gear.
I dont think it is right or fair that fractal runners get rewarded 100X times the loot and exotic gear drops for their time and I cant get 1 rare doing plinx now. I dont like dungeons and should never be forced into a gear check gated content system to make money.
One of the worst design decisions I have seen since Illum.
Yes I have stopped playing and only log in to trade on the TP.

Actually hold on till around Feb there will be raids. Well called guild activities but they will buy and large be raids.
It is just a matter of holding out till then.Anet knows this has been lacking for some time and from what I have been told working on this. With the epic new content we should see raids and more to do as a guild as it has been sorely lacking.
So yet again we take another big step toward being like everything else on the market and nothing unique in game.
