However to trigger the pre events it is enough to do one point (we mostly do the charr thing). (Sometimes some of the charrs will die at the northern gate and have to be revived before the pre events will trigger.)

“Fixed a bug that caused some melee attacks to behave inconsistently.”
Which melee attacks? Can it be that the fix did not apply to the berserker and the underlying bug is still happening to the berserker?
Could something like this have caused the whole issue?

That’s why I wrote it might be that (s)he will be refunded. There is no guarantee. (I am not sure why in this particular case some get refunded and some not. Maybe it’s the agent that doesn’t know that they do refund these things or the player did not explain very well what happened.. we’ll never know.^^)
And I am really sorry for all other cases where support is not worth calling support.
Refunds should be standard. Loss due to bugs should be compensated ASAP.
There should be also a compensation for mistakes (doesn’t matter if the game causes the mistake or the player).
A loss that includes losing real cash should always have high priority (if I remember right they do find solutions for these issues?).
But it isn’t. :-(
The floater issue is just another addition to the entire problem.
Players have been refunded with another ascended ring due to this particular problem. (You might read the provided threads or not)
However there is no official statement from support on the forums where they stated that they have done so.
And of course I am very sorry to hear that you have encountered an issue and support has not been supportive. I don’t like that they tell there is no way of helping because in my opinion it should be standard. Especially if someone lost items because of a bug etc.

You can contact support and it might be that you will be compensated with another ring.
This issue has been a problem for many players before and most of them (when not all) who have contacted support have been refunded. (I will look for a few links for you that are about the same issue.)

If you were talking to me, I really don’t know what berserker screenshots I shall make. I saw yours and did exactly the same (at least I think so), I just included the last strike as well which finished the golem off (shown as “round 8”).
My pictures show one full “session”. The berserker needed eight rounds/ eight full attacks until he killed the golem and each picture shows the highest damage he did. (Like your pictures??? You also did not include each single damage number? One round/ whirl/ attack does hit between 0 to 4 times, but it’s quite difficult to do a screen for each of these numbers. I cannot see that you would have done that?)
However, it doesn’t make any sense for me to post further screens. Your intention might be good, but you are looking from another point of view. You try to look where the build is weak or whatever. But that’s not the point here.
Please note I am not playing in PVP and that’s why I find it strange I should provide you with pictures of my berserker hitting the stationary pvp golem (because the berserker has other results to pve enemies), however it shows me that something isn’t quite alright.

All damage shown is the highest damage he did per whirl/ round.
The berserker needs eight rounds to kill the golem.

Lol. Your numbers might be that high (3000 – 4000). Mine are not.
I don’t want to start with “maybe only some players are affected”, but we are not talking about the same numbers. And you are still talking like these high numbers (3000+) are real, everyday numbers for nearly all mesmers.
They are not. Maybe for a very small number of however skilled mesmers, but the average mesmer that want the old berserker’s damage back, does way less damage.
These affected mesmers do not complain about not doing 12k damage anymore, not even 6000 average damage numbers.. that thought/ assumption really misses the point. -.-

I cannot figure it out when exactly the bug started to reoccur (28th of January.. would be my guess.. or 26th February; I think the forum software has an issue with displaying the correct date for older threads), but can you please check if any of these “fixes” could have had an impact of the berserker’s inconsistent behaviour which we mesmer players still experience right now?

Embolism, I just went to the pvp heavy golem and this is what my berserker did (and I had 3400 attack):
→ 500 – 1000 – 1500 no cripple
→ 500 and bleed – miss – miss
→ 600 – miss – 1600 bleed and cripple
→ 822 (critical) – miss – 2940 (critical) no cripple
→ 560 – 1028 – miss
→ 494 bleed and cripple – miss – miss
→ 517 cripple – miss – miss
It doesn’t say “miss”, there is just no other damage taken by the golem. Not just the missing damage floater. Just the one or two hits.
Would you mind to try the berserker in pve against some moving targets? Like in Orr?
I did not get these “6000” with my berserker anymore (after he became bugged again) and even before it was extremely rare to do that much damage.
The issue is (and I am not sure how often I have to repeat it ^^):
a) the berserker sometimes does not hit at all due to his inconsistency in his bugged behaviour; even if he hits he mostly hits two times -> before he always hit 3 or 4 times (I can’t remember exactly if he always hitted 4 times, but I know not less than 3 times)
b) my berserker (and a lot of other mesmer’s berserker) does NOW damage around 500 and up to 2400 maximum and most of the time I experienced number between 900 and 1500 -> before he did 6000 maximum (which means that was the highest damage output that you sometimes could see) and in average between 2400 and 4000 (or whatever I do not exactly remember the numbers)
Ah well.. ^^ (and I am talking about pve berserker)
Two other suggestions:
- dye your weapon! -> if you do not introduce it for free (like you had it in gw), you might consider charging gems for it (<300 gems each)
- profession effects change -> unlock other styles for your professions, let us customize color, particles, etc.. (you will be creative enough to fit it into the profession’s theme) -> For example: right now mesmer is all purple and butterflies, but maybe we could change it to a darker purple, slightly black with more swirls than butterflies, or a bright pink with flowers or whatever.. (there should be a few options available to choose from)
If you do this – and I think that would be a top seller – please include the option to only see my changed theme (e.g. disabling changed themes of other players).
And please do a reasonable price.
It is indeed nice to see that some of you made up to 12k, but that was not the norm for the majority. Not knowing how it comes to these high damage numbers, it could lead to the assumption that we mesmers deserved a (stealth) damage nerf.
These high numbers are exceptions!
The regular player had an average of ~ 6000 maximum (I do not really know the numbers, it is just an observation I made by reading other mesmer’s posts in these forums). Maybe with some higher crits. The average damage numbers we have seen the berserker made was way under 6000.
Now the damage is below 1000 and up to 2400. (In addition to the inconsistency that the berserker does not always hit)
That’s quite a reduction!
Just to remind other people who are reading these numbers that this is not what we are generally talking about.
And I feel with you, MakersMark, a reduction to 3k compared to your high damage numbers before is just sad.

Oh, I forgot to mention that. In my opinion the pre events should trigger as soon as you have defeated the champ. ^^
If I remember it right, they told us the last time (~ Nov 2012) that they would tell us if they would nerf the berserker.
Berserker became bugged the first time with the 15th November Update and it was then acknowledged by anet that it was a bug. (The bug at that time is very similar to what we experience this time)
They fixed the berserker (at the beginning of December 2012) and gave him back his properly working mechanic AND his damage that was also decreased due to that bug.
Berserker was completely properly functioning from:
1. launch to 15th November
2. 3rd/ 14th of December (if that was the exact date?) to Jan/ Feb (but he was fixed, not working as before, I think there was a slight damage decrease left over, but it did not have a huge impact compared to what the bugged berserker was doing before)
Then they broke him again either with the end of January or February Update (most of you say it was Feb, isn’t it?) and he shows very similar misbehaviour and problems that he had the first time he was “officially” bugged.
That is where we come from.
Now they tell us it is only damage floaters that are not shown properly, but it is not. We have tried to provide them with information to show otherwise.
However until they say they nerfed the berserker’s mechanic and his damage, we can assume he is bugged AGAIN.
A stealth nerf is not okay and I am convinced we can trust them that they “would put it into the patch notes”, like they always state they would do it with nerfs that impact us players.
My guess is that the person that has created and been working on the berserker mechanic/ behaviour isn’t any longer working for anet OR (s)he simply does not know that the berserker is bugged again OR (s)he does not know how to fix it.
Well, that is my opinion why it is not okay to downplay the current berserker issue by stating it is only a damage floater issue.
There were two times the berserker was properly working and had a fully functioning mechanic that was quite consistant. Compared to that it’s hard to believe the berserker NOW is working as intended.
Not every berserker did HUGE damage as he was properly working.
But now his damage output is ridiculous for most of the players. Yes, there are some players where the berserker still does enough damage, but as I could see that’s the minority.
We do not want an uba-imba-20k berserker, we want a properly working and decent damaging berserker back. :-)

A player had been spamming the mapchat for nearly 30min until I decided to help him, along with someone else who tagged along.
We downed Grenth which was easier than I remember it used to be, just to be crushed by this single spider (as if the huge amounts of mobs + the “unknow explodes” wasn’t enough for 3 players to handle).Then I regret I wasted time and repair going out of my gathering walk to attempt that.
Yeah, that’s really “challenging”…. -.-

I literally lost hope of Mesmer bug fixing right after John posted that absolute garbage in the “Did phantasmal berserker get fixed this patch” thread.
I deeply hope they won’t do that.
And I really, really hope they will fix (all) the mesmer’s issues anytime soon. I have to believe this, otherwise I am not sure what to do anymore.

Can you have a look if there are several dead charrs at the northern gate?
If you have done everything to trigger the pres, but there are not all charrs inside the camp/ dead at the gate, the pres will not trigger. Once they are revived, they then will port inside the camp (to the other charrs standing around there) and immediately the pre events will occur.
If that does not work for you, you indeed might have encountered a bug. ^^
Many of the events listed were added shortly before or after launch to make sure that low level zones could handle a large influx of players. They won’t become active if there aren’t enough players in the area.
Does that also apply to some mid and high end events?
I will “yaaaaay!” when its fixed, but acknowledgement is a start.

Well, you see, my expectations are not very high anymore..
I was really happy to see someone communicating and we did not have to wait months for it. ^^
Now we know they are aware of it and we will see what results will come out of this… maybe they will fix it and then they will get yaaaaaaay-ed by all affected players.
Some days ago it indeed happened that my bf and me received only three things from a regular boss chest (I think it was at jormag’s claw).
The other “missing” items (nr 4 and 5) did not go directly into the inventory as I described it in my priory posting in that thread here. I knew that because that happens very often (and when it happens you can see that you receive the loot from the chest “too fast”, it has an accelerated display) and this time it was just the three items. (Guess what, just blue and green items.. it didn’t make it any better!)
Is that a bug or working as intended?
[I really hope it is okay to post it in this same but old thread.. it is not just bumping it.. or do I have to open a new one?]

I know it makes sense anywhere that a sb has a smaller range than a lb, but they could have handled it in another way (e.g. decreasing the sb range to 1050 and – but not necessarily – increasing the lb to 1350 OR only increasing the lb range to 1500 OR give us the possibility to trait for higher range).
No they just have to cut the range for the sb.. sigh.. ^^

It is how it is.. there is no robust crafting system to get the materials that we need.
And nerfing loot/ reward/ whatever AND increasing the “difficulty” (as I described it a few days before for me it is not really more challenging than before by adding stupid and dull enemies/ fights that just neeeeeeeeeeed more time to be killed ) is not a great way to encourage players to spend their time in Orr. I don’t know who thought this concept would be a successful idea.
I had some fun and good times in Orr, but that’s long ago (and I wasn’t just fixated on farming).
Yeah, but that is not easy to solve. If the events do not come back in a “short” time, a lot of players that came after the event ended will just go away, if there is nothing to do for them. (The nerfed respawn time of shelter/ penitent is a very good example for it.. now it it just too much time in between..)
On the other side it really doesn’t make much sense that every waypoint seems to be contested most of the time.
Maybe they should have made the waypoints a short distance away from the events.. (like the waypoint at shatterer.. it does not become contested when he is there)

Humm.. my second weapon set was scepter and focus (I first decided for the anomaly and then loved my little warden <3).
So I’ll have a look what could be my other weapon set. I normally used the great sword because it was my chance to have one decent and reliable AOE..
I already did experience limitations with my mesmer (e.g. compared to each other profession it is quite hard to get loot, so if I ever wanted to “farm” I would not use my mesmer.. sad enough that there are such discrepancies!).. sigh.. now it has only gotten worse..
Well, I will have a look if there is another weapon set that can make me happy again (maybe even happier than the bs great sword could do in its bugged state).
I see what you tried there, but in my opinion it is still too easy. To gather 20 things, craft ten things, eat 25 things (maybe that already includes the 10 items to craft), recycle ten things and throw a few things in the forge.. humm.. that is done very easily.
I did not read the arguments why dailies feel forced or are too “difficult”(?), but should it be that easy?
The reward contains one laurel, monthly only give ten laurels and are most of the time more work than ten dailies (in my opinion). The reward should reflect the work/ time you do and if dailies are too easy they also will have to rework the monthlies?

The dailies are not very difficult to accomplish. Sometimes you need a little bit more time, but it is not truly impossible to do them each day (if you don’t expect them to be finished after 5 minutes^^).
Maybe it would be another option (if it is really an issue for some players) to extend the selection to choose from either by adding more dailies to the existing 46 or by extending the 5 from 11 to 5 from 15 (or whatever).
Permanently implementing this mf boost could have saved southsun cove a little bit. ^^

They should just let them drop. It is one of the very few incentives to go there.
Things I would pay for (of course if the design suits my taste):
1. Costumes like you had them in gw!!!! (Buy it once and unlock it for all your characters. Get it whenever you want from the costume guy. Display it during fights.)
-> make a reasonable price like 10 dollars per each costume
2. An account-wide wardrobe or costume guy (yeah, I think I would pay to unlock that.^^). Otherwise you can simply extend the function of the HOM guy. ^^
3. Armor and weapon skins that can be unlocked (once paid, unlocked account-wide/ make them account-bound, unlimited use).
4. Special event armor/ weapons. Put them directly into the gem shop, not that cr.. RNG (once paid, unlocked account-wide/ make them account-bound, unlimited use).
5. Race armor/ profession armor sets (once paid, unlocked account-wide/ make them account-bound, unlimited use).
6. Sell more minis and not just for limited time. ^^
7. More styles/ hairs/ tatoos.. whatever, BUT as you see my concepts above as an unlockable feature. For example:
- Unlock a barber that provides you with all hair styles (and beards etc.). It would be also okay to have a gold sink in it, let say we pay 1200 gems for the barber and then each time we want to change our hair we pay 10 silver (or what would be appropriate). If you add new hair/ horns/ etc. you can either sell them directly for gems (but very low cost) and we can unlock them or we can pay the barber to learn them for us with any ingame currencies.
- Unlock a tattooist and visagiste available for all races, not only norn specific that gives you the opportunity for new tattoos or make-ups, scars, sylvari glowing, asura body patterns, charr fur patterns, etc..
- etc.
-> Put them to the HOM guy until we have housing or whatever is planned. ^^ Or put them into the main cities (incentive to visit the main cities).
8. Sell dyes directly. E.g. the regular dyes like abyss could be unlocked account-wide after you bought it from the gem shop.
And – of course – whenever you have these limited dyes (like flame & frost dyes), you should also sell them directly (to unlock them account-wide, etc.).
Until now there is not much incentive to buy from the gem shop and spend real money. I will NOT spend my money on any RNG or on “town clothes” (the concept behind them is not as well thought out as it has been with the costumes).
I really liked that the dragon horns have been decided to be armor, not town clothes. ^^
That is my opinion.
But.. oh oh… if these things would come true.. I would feed you with my cash.. O.o

I think it is also legit to question the ecto salavage rate even if we do not have hundreds or thousands as a “valid” sample size. It is not our job to do that.
If it feels a little bit off and especially after it was recently bugged, it is understandable that people might question it.
I like my mesmer, she is my main. That’s why it is so frustrating, disappointing and sad (fill in every word that describes it for you) what they are doing to us mesmers.
They obviously nerfed us. Period. It makes it worse that they do not officially acknowledge that they did it!!!!
And it seems they do not bother to care for the affected dissatisfied mesmer players.
Well, it seems it is now on us to decide what the future will have for us.
I would like to have more clarification about the berserker topic, but if they are not willing to pay full attention to what we are telling them, what can we do/ expect now?
Would it be the right step to lay down the great sword? Didn’t they tell us (long time ago) that they try to make weapons on par if they see some weapons are not used that much as others?
Or shall we wait a little bit more?
I am a little bit lost. I really want to enjoy my pve mesmer experience, but I cannot completely. (It is more the fact that the berserker behaves that strange and they pretend it is his normal behaviour.. the damage reduction also sucks.. and the fact how they handle it makes me sad.. )
Hopefully they enjoy what they have created…
Let us keep our fingers crossed for them not putting these weapons into RNG boxes!
There should be more ways to acquire them and not only be it RNG, grinding or whatever.
(One option could be to sell them directly for gems.. or to let them stay ingame forever and buy them with ingame currency/ currencies/ material.. etc. they are game designers, they are able to be creative!)
