Bots on the TP?

Navzar.2938

^If you were buying them, wouldn’t it make sense for him to keep listing more of the item like that?

But anyway, while it’s definitely someone playing TP or manipulating or whatever you want to call their business tactics, this type of behavior is more likely to be human. After all, a bot is far from necessary to use for such simple and small amount of transactions. And the undercut amount has little to do with it being bot or human here imo, seeing as bots would be more useful for rapid 1c undercuts than large ones.

And while 1c undercuts are most common, large ones aren’t that odd either, since they encourage faster sales by flippers or some other opportunistic buyer. Though I’ve only done it when I wanted to unload a large amount of cheap mats quickly.

If you craft it yourself, you get the same item as well as experience. Therefore the mats are more valuable.

The gem store in game is accessed via the TP. I assumed people would understand that with the TP shorthand.

Um no… The gem store is accessed via Black Lion Trading Company. Trading Post is also accessed through Black Lion Trading Company, but gem store and TP are different areas. The difference is TP= buying from players with gold; the item is generated somewhere else. Gem store= buying from Arena Net with gems.

What do you mean by selling a skin via TP? Do you mean the gem store? Because TP is players selling to players. Anyway, I don’t thinkt hey had “skin” items that just affect item appearance except for gems items before, and that’s why it was introduced as non max tier armor. That way it’d still be paying for skin.

Point is, you were only meant to be paying for the skin, thus stats don’t matter. So it shouldn’t be about the stats matching the price, but the looks matching the price. I don’t really see why you’re so fixated on those stats.

T3 Cultural armors - why so expensive?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Navzar.2938

I think they make them rare quality so when you buy them, you’re paying for the skin alone.
This is because they’re supposed to serve as prestigious skins to show off your wealth. Kind of how legendaries are incredibly expensive because they look awesome. Unfortunately, cultural armors don’t really look good enough to fit this role (imo).

Why can you buy Legendarys on the TP ?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Navzar.2938

Navzar.2938

Even if you craft it yourself, you’re just buying most of the mats off of the TP. The only parts you do yourself are the 1mil karma, dungeon gift, gift of battle and 340 skill points, all of which are easier than farming the gold for mats and pre cursor.

I think its fine. Legendaries are just a large gold sink anyway. If people can sell them then the tax is applied to that sale as well as the mat sales, so it’s more effective.

I certainly agree.

Though I wonder why we keep hearing that bunker eles are basically untouched. I’ve heard it in about 10 different threads now.

Mobility is nerfed (RTL)
Survivability is nerfed (Less regen and vigor)
Damage is nerfed (Less fury).

Because soothing disruption and zephyr’s boon were stealth nerfs, so people who don’t play eles won’t know about them by just reading the patch notes.

But anyway, what was the nerf to renewing stamina? I didn’t see anything posted about it elsewhere.

I don’t really understand the “if he dies in mf gear, he’ll die in regular gear too” argument tbh. If you switch to knights, you’ll be 2/3 of the direct damage you were before.

That’s like an extra layer of permanent protection. Even if someone’s not a good player, that’s still gonna make him much more likely to survive. Especially if he’s only dying dying by a fair margin, since it would now take 1.5x more direct damage to kill him.

There’s more than just extremes in skills, so those extra stats can make quite the difference. If he’s dying a lot, it’d probably be worthwhile to switch to a set of non mf gear, it’ll help him die less even if he’s as unskilled as before.

As for the rewarding player skill thing, using mf means contributing less to the team, so I don’t think sharing mf is too crazy of an idea or anything to add as a party option.

Edit: The main point is, if he sucks in mf gear, it’s true he’ll probably still suck in normal gear, but at least he’ll suck less.

Suspicious undercutting

in Black Lion Trading Co

Navzar.2938

It could be that it’s an undercut by a large amount for fast sales, and in small quantities in case another person undercuts that offer.

Of course trying to artificially lower the price is definitely possible too, but then wouldn’t it be easier to offer a large quantity to do it?

Sell orders doesn’t equal demand because people will horde commodities and because some people will sell instantly instead of placing an order.

Buy orders doesn’t necessarily mean demand because a lot of people will buy instantly instead of placing buy orders and because there are also a lot of “false” buy orders at very low prices

Probably some other reasons I’m missing on each of them though.

Hard to get ascended rings? started fractals about 3 days ago, today I got 2 infused ascended rings, one from drop and another from upgrading.

And while I have been quite lucky with my ring drop, the chance of you going several days without a ring drop from 10 or 20 chest is absurdly low, and if you don’t luck out on a infused ring, then put the work in and farm the ingreds to infuse it yourself.

Seems like you however have had some rather bad luck, I do however strongly suggest you pop a 50% mf buff before doing maw, both days I did I got a ring.

MF doesn’t affect chests to my knowledge.

Interesting… except we weren’t discussing how MF reduces your performance, but how much it matters. None of that got you to “socially evil and undesirable stat”, did it? That would be a Red Herring, if I’m not mistaken.

This is the problem here. How much it matters is very subjective, so most mf proponents will think it reduced performance doesn’t matter much, while people against it think reduced performance is a significant issue. So that’s all this arguement really is “does it matter to you?”, seeing as any facts are just dismissed as it doesn’t matter…

That’s probably how he got to the “socially evil and undesirable stat” thing too, so it’s not unrelated, he’s just saying it matters to him.

As for the unskilled/undergeared, it’s mostly because they don’t choose to be be that way and would gladly be skilled and well geared if they had the option, whereas mf users make the choice to nerf their performance.
And honestly, running full blues/whites can get hate/disapproval/noob status from a fair amount of people as well. (Although not necessarily anti-mf people.)

Honestly, the best way is to save up jugs of karma and then use ice cream+ guild banner+ guild buff+ booster for 175% karma and open them all.

Now there’s also an infusion that gives +15% karma if you want to use that as well, but you can only get it and the item you can add it to with laurels.

does said +15% ascended infusions give +15% more karma from jugs?

No one knows since it’s impossible to have gotten enough laurels for the amulet and infusion already.
But it probably does since the other karma effects work on jugs, except for outmanned in wvw which is bugged and doesn’t work at all for karma.

Navzar.2938

When supply is really low the price can fluctuate easily because when one is bought, it will go to the next like regular items. But unlike regular items, there isn’t really the 1c undercut here so there’s a good difference in price. This means you can have listings like 900g, 800g, 600g. If the 600g is bought, then the price goes up 33% to 800g. The high listing fee on these items also means people won’t be taking them down to relisting them at a lower price for undercutting either.
^just posted this to explain how it can move up in price so quickly in two days.

And of course anything too low in price will be bought quickly by flipping merchants or people who want to keep the value up.

The materials have some value. I can’t tell if the weapons do from their icon though. If any have yellow text, they’re fairly valuable. If they have orange text, then they’re worth a few gold at lvl 80.

Hierarchy goes white, blue, yellow, orange, pink, purple with white being the lowest. You can’t normally get pink as a drop (exception being fractals 10+) and they’re very few in number, being restricted to trinkets atm. Purple is only for legendaries.

A good undercut does speed up selling items because a buyer will see the listings and think “oh that’s a good price, I should buy it before someone else does” as opposed to many similar prices, in which case they’ll just buy it when they need it.

Although this depends on the item in questions of course.

It would be nice to gift gems to another player. But then that might become a way of trading items to each other through mail (if people even still does that).

What would be the difference between this and trading with gold through the mail?

I think you should be able to send gems since you can already send gold.

Also, it’s be 1600 gems> X gold> 1120 gems. It’s only “taxed” on sell, so it’s not going happen twice.

What they DO NOT show is the Net Profit AFTER the TP Tax.

They do show the amount of money you get after the TP tax. They just don’t subtract the listing fee from it, so it’s not really “profit” until you take away the fee you paid.

Ex. You list an item for 100g. You paid 5g to do this and it shows a projected profit of 90g. So your real profit (including the initial listing fee) is 85g.
