Why is so difficult translate GW2 in italian?

in Suggestions

Posted by: Navzar.2938

Navzar.2938

Because, simply put, there aren’t enough italian-speakers playing the game. Don’t forget that Italian is only spoken in Italy.

also by this reasoning, if everybody should talk the most spoken language in the world, we should all learn chinese as a main and spanish as a secondary language…

Except he didn’t say anything like that. All he said is that not enough Italian speakers play the game, so Arenanet didn’t translate it into that language. The game is only in four languages, there’s a lot more than that in Europe. Those languages were chosen precisely because they had the larger majority of would be players.

For the record, play=/= beat.
Anyway, a game for everyone to play would mean having something for everyone, not everything is for everybody, which is impossible. If everything were easy to beat, it’d no longer be a game for everyone to play because it excludes the group of people who like challenge. Also, gauntlet isn’t disappearing, it’s coming back.

So let me get this straight, because it’s tied to achievements, you think you shouldn’t actually have to be able to achieve anything other than face rolling a keyboard? If other players are better and can achieve more, then they deserve more achievement points.

As for the actual achievement chests- No, they don’t matter. It’s just some badges, karma, laurels, pvp skins and a few gem items. All of these things you can get far, far faster by actually aiming for them than trying to grind achievement points.

Perhaps you missed the part where I mentioned Gate of Madness, Glint’s Challenge, and Shards of Orr. Those are not cake walks in GW. Gate of Madness for example is “considered one of the hardest in the Nightfall campaign

As for this-
Shards of Orr solo- Never tried soloing it (unless by solo you mean H/H, then yes, it’s easy).
Glint’s Challenge HM- It can be somewhat challenging maybe? You shouldn’t fail with a decent group of players that know what their doing (aka did it in normal mode).
Gates of Madness HM- This is nightfall, you have heroes. Good heroes makes everything except Urgoz and the Deep H/Hable. With players, you just took some decent builds mixed with good pve skills and made sure you knew the environmental effect. Don’t overaggro on the way to the end and then pull shiro and kill him alone if you want the easy way out.
Even if it was “one of the hardest in the Nightfall campaign”, that’s not saying much seeing as the campaign content isn’t something difficult.

Now that that’s sad, how does one do this with a ranger? I just got mine geared up with exotics (which I was doing anyway, but main happened to be that lvl 80 ele that couldn’t do it, and I had an influx of gold from champ loot).

Because a lot of easy content isn’t very enjoyable for people who like challenge. So that content isn’t for them, just like this content isn’t for you.

How is it any different? The inherent damage of the classes isn’t changed between PvP and PvE. There’s a difference between burst and DPS. DPS is sustained while burst is sudden spike damage, like backstab or Dragon’s Tooth.

Pve mobs are a lot easier to hit than decent players, so there’s a good difference in effective dps.

But this topic is to make people aware of the situation.

If a large amount of people are aware of a good investment, it’s no longer nearly as good of an investment because too many people are trying to get it.

There are many putrid essence dropping. So many that a topic on the forum wont manipulate prices.

In the short term, it only takes 2 or 3 people competing to drive up the price of this item closer to 80~1s for a few days.

If it fails, you sell for vendor price and loose a small ammount. If you win you COULD win big.

Again, this is only true if only a small number of people are doing it. In it’s current state (~75c), this is far from the case, unlike a month ago and two months ago. The more people trying to do this, the less this becomes true since it causes prices to go up again.

Profession, much like race, is tied deep into your character creation.

That’s not really true. You answer a question depending on profession, but that changes a piece of starting equipment or your pet, something like that.

As for the problems, it’s not really that many. Automatically unequip all items and weapons before the change occurs. If they’re not usable by the new profession, you simply can’t equip them anymore just like anything else. For skills, just refund all the points. Anything else?

My problem with guilds

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Navzar.2938

Navzar.2938

Start cost- I don’t think this itself is a problem, but I do agree that guilds could use something more physical to build up to. Hopefully guild halls can give us this in the future.

Charter req- I don’t see this as an issue. In other games, I’ve seen some people just ask randoms to join for the start up to get around this (alts makes this easy to happen). Even if they have to stay, it’s just 5 people. All this really prevents is one man guilds for banking.

You can join up to 5 guilds at one time. I can see the attraction and convenience of multiple guilds for specific tasks (it practically makes it a lfg tool), but I do agree that this takes away the close guild feeling and loyalty. However, players can choose to get together with others that will mainly represent one guild. Fortunately for me, I was able to come over with my gw1 guild, so most of the members stick to representing the main guild, and we’re large enough that we can get a group for a variety of activities.

Making it everything beatable by everyone would be alienating players who like difficult content.

big post

It feels like it’s sometimes more about needing to feel elite and special than it does about liking difficult content.

Well to me, the thought process is that if I do something that’s harder, I should be get something more/better/different because I’m not taking the easy path you know?

As for the rest of your post, that makes me ask a simple question. Would you be more okay with this if it weren’t part of the living story? I can definitely understand your concerns about not having that much less difficult content to do when in comes to these, but when it comes to the rest of the game, it mostly does cater to those who don’t like difficult content. So would it be better if it were just an addition to that permanent world instead? (fyi:I personally think so)

As for how much content there is outside of gauntlet, it’s actually not that little in comparison (though not that much either). You have each little mini area and boss in the pavilion, which isn’t really that much if you don’t grind it, but it’s still 6 bosses and little areas there. Then you also have the open world events like the 5 of the queen’s champions, delegate escorts and the aetherblade attacks and the torch thing for a little side activity. Yes you’re right that it should be more, but I’m assuming that the next half of the living story won’t have anything difficult like the gauntlet and will focus more on the story missions and such. In comparison, the gauntlet only lasts people a good deal of time as content because it’s hard and they fail. It’s 12 timed bosses, a few of which are easy as well, and the bulk of which are middle difficulty and the last third being hard to very hard.

Honestly, what is the big deal that some people have with needing the game content to not be accessible to everyone?

It seems as if the same people that are so fond of pointing out that frustrated players don’t need the achievements and/or rewards from certain content are always forgetting that they also don’t need to feel like an uber-special-crystalline-snowflake because they have something that someone else doesn’t.

The problem with making content that everyone can beat is that if everyone can beat it, it’s not really fun for everyone. Some players like a challenge, so they don’t really enjoy easy content.

Making it everything beatable by everyone would be alienating players who like difficult content.

Sorry about the titles. This was kind of an oversight. I am nearly certain that the Gauntlet will return. Possibly as part of the activity rotation someday. Ideally we’ll extend it with more tiers of bosses, gambits, and achievements (and titles). I’m not sure if its possibly to retro-actively associate a new title with an old achievement but I will investigate. If so perhaps we can add some titles when the Gauntlet returns.

“Middle ground” isn’t one monolithic level of difficulty. What you want to aim for is content that most people can do if they work really hard at it.

Yes, but you were complaining nothing existed between Liadri level difficulty and extremely easy, so I was pointing them out.
Is the second sentence meant to be about middle ground, or in general? Because if it’s the, that would defeat the purpose of hard content. Also when you say work hard at it, do you mean something like a progression where you slowly build up the title, or just work to get better to beat it?

An example of how to make Liadri challenging instead of impossible for most is to remove the orbs in phase 2. They introduce an element of luck that’s out of place with “it’s just skill” since a random spawn can down you instantly.

There’s plenty that the imagination can come up with. It’s not a false dichotomy between impossible and lol faceroll!

They only spawn on the sides of the arena if you’re talking about the clones. If you’re talking about pull orbs, those aren’t a problem since they’re killed so easily.

This is a different kind of work to earn this one. Rather directly making progress at the task itself, you have to make progress towards making yourself better. It’s a learning experience.

1. If they really wanted it to be only about skill and improving yourself, they would have put it in the heart of the mists. No armor repair, no tokens costing money.

2. Suppose they designed content so that exactly one person in the entire GW2 playerbase was good enough to do it after a lot of effort. It that reasonable? Probably not. So once we’ve established a limit, the philosophical question comes into play again.

Strangely everyone here seems to think that there are only two options – insanely difficult and impossible to beat for most people….or faceroll. Why have so many completely ignored the middle ground? Requires skilled play…but no such skilled play that most people simply can’t do it regardless of how hard they try to improve?

1. Having to pay to try doesn’t imply it’s a place where time spent = reward. I do agree that paying to do it is pretty annoying for difficult content though (excluding the armor repair, I find that reasonable since it’s just like dying in any other portion of the non pvp game). I also think it’s meant to discourage people from repeatedly trying unless they have a chance, as well as being a gold sink for those who don’t want to earn tickets through events.
2. Far more people than that have beaten her.

For moderate difficulty type things, there’s (some) dungeons and fractals, but I agree we could use some more. We actually don’t have much content that would be considered very difficult.

So how would you feel if people didnt res you ? That would put a dent in your oh so important timetable. Seriously, it amazes me how selfish people are.

You still don’t get it, do you? The Gauntlet is a boss rush mode. It is single-player content. I wish to play it at my own leisure, without queues (or a paywall for that matter). An extra 5 minutes may not seem much to you, but when you’ve been playing for 1-2 hours, then an extra 30-60 minutes spent waiting is a lot of time.
Imagine this; you want to finish a story instance, but the game forces you to enter a queue because another player is already doing the same story step. I can’t imagine anyone would be okay with this.

Yes, but if no one is resurrecting, you’re not saving time overall because you have to run back to the arena.

If bob stays dead, then Mike and John only have one person to wait for. But if they rez Bob, they will have to instead wait for two people instead of one.

John is already in queue, so he’s only waiting one person. If Bob is resurrected, then he goes into the queue after John. If he is not resurrected, then he waypoints, runs back, and then still goes into the queue after John, while Mike is now in Bob’s situation.

Its also not difficult to be a good person and obey the easy down/defeated rules of pve, if downed, help, if defeated let them rot for being lazy.

The down/defeated thing is meant for pve events where everyone is combat. This is because ressing someone while in combat is painfully slow, takes away dps, and might get you killed. So they’ll get back to the fight just as quickly if they use a waypoint.

Trying to apply that to a situation where you’re out of combat and just standing around waiting anyway is pretty stupid.

Took me 41 tries.
Condition builds work well for this match since you’re spending so much time avoiding the aoe and walking bombs, but you also need to be able to keep up perma vigor or something similar for dodges.

As for me, the things that I find the most discouraging about the arena are
1. Queue- this one is the worst in populated maps since it’s really limiting your attempts
2.Environmental effects from the area affect you. I find this kind of ridiculous since you match is supposed to be isolated from whatever else is going on. Not only does culling and lag from a zerg below have effects of on some players, but effects like heat exhaustion are also hindering you in a tough fight.
3. You’re basically paying for each attempt, + repair and waypoint. This is kind of reasonable as a gold sink and to prevent people from endlessly trying it unless they have a hope of winning, but I still feel kind of iffy on this.

As for the fight itself, I don’t think it should be made easier. If the time limit was removed, it’d be easy to indefinitely kite her until she dies on a bulkier character, so that definitely needs to stay.
For the claw autoattack try continuously straffing left and right as you do anything to avoid a decent amount more of the claws.
Pay attention for the rifts so you can destroy them right away (unless you plan to use it for a rally, but I wouldn’t risk it). An aoe will take care of it easily if your ranged attacks aren’t hitting it.
The gangbang thing shouldn’t really start happening until after 4 or so whirlpools, so just make sure to hit her with the first three orbs.

You can get a pristine relic for every 10 levels you’ve unlocked though, so it’s not too bad.

Bonus chests and similar things like dungeon gold are different. You can buy the stuff inside, so it’s not really time gated. You can still get them by putting forth some extra effort elsewhere.

It’s true that you can never please everyone, but I feel this wouldn’t be as big of a problem if players had options for ascended gear that wasn’t strictly time gated.
