^Totally agree with that. The warrior is more mage like than the mage with the massive AoE damage. That needs to be changed.
I’m mainly concerned with what happens to celestial. Replacing the MF stat with boon duration or just upping all the rest of the stats by 5-10% would be nice.
^ Switch to a less stacked server then and you won’t see that. Don’t screw over those of us who aren’t on bandwagon zerg servers who enjoy things the way they are now.
And I now understand why OP wants to change it. We faced their server last matchup, they were terrible. Probably getting tired of getting owned and want less customization because he can’t think of a way to counter his opponent’s better builds. My guild slept on the bridge leading to their base while they tried unsuccessfully to kill us. Cant even kill us firing cannons at us and attacking us while we sleep.

While it might be the case that the two trade-offs are too strong relative to the first benefit, the second benefit seems unbalanced on its face: where else in the game to you maintain a benefit without the thing granting the benefit being in use? Why should one type of sigil work after returning the weapon to your inventory, but none of the others do?
What if you class mechanic doesn’t have weapon swapping period like the other classes? Elementalists for example, have no choice but to return weapons to inventory if they want to ‘swap’.
Exactly. If this does get changed, then elementalists and engineers need to be given an in combat weapon swap. Otherwise it completely screws over both of those classes and puts them at a disadvantage compared to all the others who can swap weapons. If it’s going to be removed from removing weapons then either give eles and engineers in combat weapon swap, or make the stacks disappear on weapon swap as well.
Reroll as a warrior would also be an acceptable answer. It so ridiculously OP right now its not even funny. I was with 2 of my guild members today on my warrior. we got jumped by 5 thieves, I pretty much dropped all 5 of them at once with one combustive shot. Over 900 damage burn ticks on them. And as quickly as I regain adrenaline on my build I can do it pretty often and just drop it on myself and stand in the flames. They try to run in and stab me and they die. And the damage just jacks up even further when all 3 of us stand in the flames and spam blast finishers. I saw a few 1300 ticks at one point.

Our traitlines need to be reworked completely. Our base attunement recharge should be at 9 seconds and arcane should give boon duration and aura duration. Auras should be our mechanic. we should gain an aura on attunement and auras should be removed from all weapons and replaced with something else. That way we always have access to all auras despite what weapons we choose to use. Offensive builds will no longer be tied to arcane traitlines anymore, and aura builds will be more useful now. A lot of people would still want to go all into arcane though because of the water dodge on evasive arcana. the rest we could live without. The dodge on water should just be removed from EA and replaced with something more offensive that’s water related. the cleansing wave dodge should be a trait all its own in the water traitline as an adept or master trait. Add it to stop, drop and roll maybe. Bountiful power should be moved to arcane and be brought up to 3% per boon (mesmers get an adept trait that gives them 3% per illusion and warriors get a similar trait that gives 3% per boon on the enemy. Why should we be stuck with a crappy 1% when our damage is already exponentially below theirs in the first place?) and something else stuck in its place in the water traitline. What exactly, i’m not sure yet.
^ As badly as ele has been nerfed it can barely manage to kill a competent ambient creature. I’ve shelfed my ele for now until it gets better. I just use it for pve stuff occasionally because its still the most fun class to use for me. In terms of actual usefulness though, ele just doesn’t measure up to what other classes can offer. I just use my guardian, or warrior, or thief depending on what I want to do and do it more efficiently with a fraction of the effort that can be done on the ele. My ele spends the majority of her time in LA now tossing roses at people. That’s about all the class is good for now after the repeated unjustified nerfs.
Except RTL could be stopped. Guardian 3 ball chain thing, Mesmer line pull, ranger knockback & probably more I`ve not noticed.
Worse, in RTL we`re a useless ball of sparks, at least those chilled can still fight/heal etc. Also they have higher hp/armour to boot.
Warriors can trait for any movement skill to remove immobilising effects, fairly sure both cna still move whilst using their copious amount of movement spells, even if a little slower.
Ranger pets can remove conditions, combined with they also get higher damage output as standard, due to ele having to go into 30 arcane/30water just to survive average goings on.We get stunned, we can`t do kitten & we die.
The main problem is that we`re still either okayish melee only or feeble staff ranged.
Every other profession can do both at press of a button, Warriors traited weapon swap every 4 seconds.Gimme that, you can keep your RTL..
You’re right about that. When I have Mobile Strikes on, Rush won’t be affected by movement impairing effects. it breaks them. And you can also trait to reduce the cooldowns on all GS skills. Warrior’s movement is superior to ele’s in every single way. Even if they did un-nerf RTL, they would still be superior. Its ridiculous how much ground I can cover when I hit my Signet of Rage then whirlwind, then rush, then bulls charge, then swap to sword and savage leap and because I have Fast Hands I wait 5 secs then swap back to GS and by that time I can rush again. No one will EVER catch me. Ele just has RTL on a 40 sec cooldown, burning speed, only 15 seconds but goes a very short distance, LF which is also 40 seconds. I don’t count Firey Greatsword because if you get jumped, in the 4 seconds it takes for you to summon it, which can be interrupted if someone hits you, you will die. If a warrior specced for movement gets jumped, he’s getting away no matter what. Same deal with ranger or thief. An ele specced for everything we have at our disposal that gives us speed, will rarely ever get away. RTL and lightning flash both need much lower cooldowns especially now that they nerfed LF by removing the stunbreak. there’s no justifiable reason why it should have that long of a cooldown even if it does do damage.
They need to make another stat that’s necessary for conditions to be effective. You need power, precision, and crit damage to make power builds effective. You sacrifice defense for that. You only need 1 stat to make condition builds effective, condition damage. The other 2 stats could be whatever you want. With the new set, condition builds sacrifice absolutely nothing and can max their most important offensive stat AND their defense as well. How is that balanced? I’m seriously beginning to question the intelligence of the balancing team in this game.
Now if only power builds could get a gear set with power, precision, toughness, crit%, and vitality so they also don’t have to defensive stats for offensive ones.
I don’t get why RTL was nerfed but Swoop and Rush have been untouched. They should either revert RTL, or nerf those 2 abilities since they’re the same basic thing and used for the same purposes. And the pitiful amount of damage it deals is no reason for it to be on such a long cooldown. I can deal WAY more damage with Swoop than I can with RTL even using a bunker spec on ranger. It needs to be reverted to how it was before, or the radius of the burst and the damage need to go up exponentially to justify 40 freaking seconds. 40 seconds is longer than most utility cooldowns of other classes. I wont even get on the subject of our horrendously long cooldowns on our utilities.
(edited by Nikkinella.8254)
If they insist on RTL being used primarily for offense, fine, I can deal with that. But make it acutally worth using offensively. It should be unblockable and damage anything it hits along it’s flight path and go through targets like burning speed. Make it like Ky Kiske’s Ride the Lightning in Guilty Gear. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lSIh0vj3sT8&list=PLE43F72C1A75C1A52 skip to 1:03 in the vid. THAT’s how it should be.

I wish they would take off the condition damage and mf and just boost all of the other stats by about 10%-20%. Then it would be perfect. Or just replace the mf with boon duration. lame that they’re removing a stat and not compensating it by boosting something else. Hey, kind of like what they do when balancing ele’s. Nerf something decent and give nothing else and return. Celestial gear is the armor equivalent of elementalists.
I don’t get why dagger storm reflects projectiles, does WAY more damage, and has a much lower cooldown as well. Tornadoes are more destructive than someone throwing daggers. It should be better than that, not inferior to it in every way. I’d gladly swap dagger storm for tornado to have a half decent elite.
The runes need to go, and I mean it.
p/s: All this people defending it is just plain dumb. Why bother defending something that is completely broken?
because they’re bad players and need a crutch to win? I use them and I admit they’re fun but come on. Anyone can see how overpowered they are. They need to be nerfed. They need a cooldown at the very least.
ALL runes and sigils with a proc have some sort of cooldown on them Perplexity doesn’t. It’s obviously a mistake, so i’d say expect a nerf. It’s broken and overpowered. I can kill someone just spamming headshot with the perplexity runes on my thief. Stand there, press 1 button over and over again. Just trait for as much initiative regen as possible and press 1 button and win. And I have stealth if anything happens to go wrong and by some miracle they can constantly cure the confusion.
Well I just found out something disturbing that I could do with runes of perplexity. respecced my thief so I had as much initiative regen as possible ignoring everything else, spam headshot over and over again. Instant win. You don’t have to dodge or stealth or anything. No matter how many condition cleanses your opponent has, they will NEVER be able to get the confusion off of themselves and they will die no matter whakittens kind of funny watching someone struggle and die just from healing and be able to do absolutely nothing about it while I literally just stand there and press 1 button, but this is kind of ridiculous. Those runes need a serious nerf. they need a 30-60 sec cooldown on how often they proc confusion. Keeping a constant steam of confusion on people and making it impossible for them to take any action whatsoever without dying from it is really overpowered.
They should just reset our skills every time they add a new mastery. They did it once already, so they do have the ability to reset all our wxp abilities.
Aww, you beat me to it. I wanted to post that pic. Oh well, I’ll still post it anyway since it’s such a beautiful sight it’s worth seeing twice.
they need to make focus good and then let us dual wield them. I just want to wield 2 anomalies at once. Replace all the focus skills with the skills from Aspect Arena, and there, we have a great weaponset with high mobility and decent defense and offense.
If celestial gets boon duration, which im hoping it will, that will probably be the best ele gear to get. We pretty much HAVE to take boon duration runes for most builds since we need to have all those boons just to be at the baseline effectiveness of what other classes are without boons since we have such crappy stats. I’d definitely go for celestial if it got that since it would open up a lot more possibilities with different runes.
Is this a joke thread? You’ve got to be kidding. After all the buffs we’ve gotten I’ve barely touched any of my other classes. You’re doing something wrong. Enjoy us not sucking for once and being able to destroy everyone who still thinks we do. Try the mace/gs stun build or the S/S longbow condition build and enjoy the bodies piling up at your feet. Personally I prefer the condition one. People underestimate it and it’s funny watching them run away once they notice they’re taking damage then drop from conditions. My favorite move in the game now is probably pin down, just be careful you use it after they blow all their cleanses, it’s hilarious.
Do what most of us did and start playing an alt. camp your ele in LA and wait till they fix it. Not worth using now over any other class.
There’s videos of level 12 necros eating level 80’s alive by spamming conditions. Obviously something is wrong. Anyone who thinks conditions aren’t overpowered now probably runs one of the easy mode condition spammer builds. I run a condition spec on my warrior. And fun as it is watching people bleed and burn to death unable to cure the conditions I stick on them because I can put them back on as soon as they cure them, I’ll admit it’s overpowered as hell and in need of a serious nerf.
Admit it, they trolled us good.
WvW players: “We want to see new changes on the maps!”
Anet devs: “Don’t worry, new changes are coming soon!”
WvW players: “Really? Yay!”
Anet devs: Changes the colors on the maps
Yeah, they got us good.
So if I were to go into a 0/10/0/30/30 build, what sort of gear would I want for healing and damage output with defence as third importance? Precision vitality healing or something like that?
Cleric gear works great if you want a more defensive build.
there’s no point in going into fire unless you plan on using a signet build or lightning hammer build. Fire is generally crappy and has very few decent traits in it. if you want more power, get that through gear, not traits.
knight’s gear with soldier daggers and a mixture of celestial and cavalier jewelry works fine.
there’s also consumables that can stealth you, unless they’ve nerfed those and you cant use them in WvW anymore.
I wish they would make WvW as profitable as these PvE events. Make people you kill always drop 50s or something like that. I bet we’d see a lot more people then in WvW.
I was wondering this myself. I haven’t had much time to do all the gauntlet stuff until now and wanted to get around to killing what’s her face to get the mini. And now I can’t go in at all. There’s just Scarlet laughing when you try to enter.
How the hell should I know? This is before my sigil is even stacked to 25. At 25 it’s about 19k give or take a bit. People are always stating these formulas on here trying to prove me wrong, but they are the ones who are always wrong. I don’t give a flying crap about your math. I go by what I see with my own eyes in game.
(edited by Nikkinella.8254)
In the past, I used to primarily target rangers in WvW because they were easy kills. Now I ignore them because they’re all regen builds that you can never kill and always outrun you or eat you alive with conditions. I always target eles now. Doesn’t matter what weapon they have, they can’t hurt me, and they can’t get away. It’s really sad when i’m on my warrior. No matter how good they are, they will NEVER get away because of the long cooldowns on mobility skills while I can spam mine and literally run circles around them. Even if they have a burst spec, they can’t burst me down through my high armor (over 3300 before buffs) I’ll regen what little damage they manage to do to me and shout heal if they manage to get a lucky crit and totally erase all the damage they do. I can heal faster than they can damage me and the cooldowns on my shouts will be up way before their cooldowns for all their damaging abilities will be up again. And i’ll eat them alive with conditions. Pin down on my bow does nearly 19k worth of bleeding. And it just gets worse for them after I swap to my twin swords, chill them with the hydromancy sigil on one of them, impale them (nearly 9k damage from torment) then just auto attack spam them to death since my crits cause bleeding as well, switch back to bow and pin them down again and drop combustive shot on them. Then they’re dead. that’s how EVERY single fight against an ele goes. And I barely use my warrior, so i’m by no means great at it. It’s just pitifully easy against every ele I go against. Every fight has the exact same outcome every single time. They can’t heal or cure conditions faster than I can apply them because of stupidly long cooldowns and the huge nerfs to healing and condition removal.
Ele was never OP. People just didn’t know how to dodge or use CC abilities back then when ele was actually decent. Now that people actually bother to slot things besides damage abilities and learned how to dodge our attacks, and actually pay attention to our attunements, and CC us when we leave water like we told the morons to do in order to counter us since the start of the game. Now it’s become more apparent that ele was never OP and it was still just barely average back then because while it had survivability, it had horrible damage. I’d say we were even below average back then because of our pitiful damage output. People refused to listen to the advice we gave them on how to beat us though and instead cried for nerfs instead of learning how to play. Now after all the nerfs that the terribad players begged for, the class is absolute garbage. Tank spec cant tank anymore even against 1 decent player, while tank specs on any other class can take on 10+ people. Yes even thief can do this with a mixture of cavalier’s and valkyrie gear and still have 100% crit change and insane damage because of that trait they get by going 30 into shadow arts. I find it hilarious I can actually tank with my thief but not with my ele anymore. We have 1 and a half viable specs right now. Our tanking spec is the half one since we cant tank without someone else helping us, and we have the gimmicky burst build. And while fun, our burst build still isn’t up to par with other classes burst specs in terms of survivability, mobility , and damage. Yeah we can instakill some people and don’t have to be glass to do it, but people are starting to wise up to that combo now as well and it’s weaknesses become apparent. you miss any of that burst against a semi decent player and you’re done for. Fresh air helps, but the cooldowns of the majority of our skills still really hurts the ele in general. The RTL and mistform nerfs were totally unnecessary. it’s what allowed you to actually survive those “oh crap” moments when using riskier builds. Even if you go look back at some of Daphoenix’s old vids back when people were under the misconception that ele was OP, you will rarely ever see anyone he’s facing even ATTEMPT to CC him. they just chase him like morons and try to blast him down with their hardest hitting abilities. People aren’t that stupid anymore. they do actually use CC abilities.
Gotta agree with you on that. I’m not saying I want the class to become easy like thief where I can just press 1 button and kill someone. that’s exactly the reason I haven’t touched my thief in months, it’s a boring class to play because of the low skill cap and how easy it is. I’m just saying I want some payoff for all the effort I put in. Doing 10 times the work just to be BELOW other classes doesn’t cut it. If I do a huge combo on my ele I’d like to see bigger payoff. We sacrifice so much in return for so little. It isn’t balanced at all. We just need all the nerfs we’ve been hit by since beta reversed as well as a few buffs to our crappy skills which have been crappy since beta and then we’ll be on par with all the other classes and their recent ridiculous buffs.
You guys whine too much.
1. Eles are fine in WvW. Stop complaining about ANET taking a totally OP class and making it more in line with the others
2. Confusion is easy to deal with. I’d take a permanent stack of confusion at all times over all the siege damage these days.
spoken as someone who’s probably only played thief and has never touched another profession. Eles were never overpowered. People just didn’t know how to play back then and were still getting used to the game. Everyone is used to the eles tricks now and know what they do. So it’s no longer surprising and easy to counter. After all the nerfs, they’re absolute garbage. Play as every single other class and then come back to ele. The weakness of the class is obvious. You have to do 10 times the work to accomplish what other classes can do in a single button press and still are mediocre compared to them. And with the recent buffs to all other classes, ele is in a very bad spot now. Even if they reversed all the previous nerfs it would still be inferior to other classes now. They need to not only reverse the nerfs, but significantly buff the class as well afterwards.
Let me list somethings you forgot to add:
1. If guardian traits to be a bunker, they do no damage.
2. If guardian traits for healing they do no damage.
3. Their boons are gained via utility, meaning they have lengthy cds.
4. Guardian has no mobility compared to ele.
5. Guardian lacks the diversity of ele.
I’d agree with you on most of those, but you’re completely wrong about 1 and 2. I can deal a fair amount of damage with my bunker guardian.
Eles got healing, mobility, overall survivability, and already pitiful damage nerfed. So yeah, he has a right to whine about it.
There are videos for every single class with them vs 10+ people. Let’s face it, in WvW there are a lot of crappy players which is why most tend to stick with the zerg. There’s a ranger in my guild who I’ve personally seen kite around 20 or 30 people and kill a large amount of them and still get away. A lot of players don’t use the terrain to their advantage and just stand still and expect to be able to take down an army. move around, kite people around structures, , use choke points, run in behind oakhearts when they shoot at you(they’ll aggro it and it will root them or knock them down and you can take advantage of that) There’s a ton of things you can do that I regularly see most people never take advantage of to take on superior numbers. most people are content just standing and spamming 1.
id trade rush and bulls for a pull in a heart beat.
Hell no. If any thing stomp for a pull
Hell no! I love stomp. It messes thieves up so badly. When he first pops out to stab me I stomp, then pin down, then bull rush him when he tries to teleport away and go into stealth. I’d hate losing either of those abilities. 2 warriors together using those skills is pretty funny. we tortured a thief yesterday doing that. knocking him flat on his butt every time he attempted to get up and stealth.
Humans! I’m still experimenting with different pieces of armor and wasting countless transmutation stones, but im hoping to eventually get her to look somewhat like this. I’d love it if they eventually added in gigantic wings like that as a back item skin.
I hate the loud footsteps of heavy armor profession. But I took peace that they never gonna bother, make a seperate sound volume bar for footsteps like in Skyrim, and i’m not gonne whine about it in the forums. (well ok kinda now, but i’m only givign it as an example, and I didnt make my own topic about it).
Shut down your dirty imaginations guys. Maybe you seen to much american ‘over the top’ comedies? Where all actor, fart every second? There’s a reason I don’t like that kind of movie (or find them not funny at all).
i’ts not Americans who fart all the time for your information. Terrence and Phillip are Canadian.
I’ve never liked it. I’d much rather have a super saiyan-ish aura instead of little fart bubbles.
I’ve tried the build, it’s fun and yeah quite overpowered against anything that doesn’t spam conditions constantly, but I still prefer my S/S and longbow condition build. I don’t really have a problem against the stun build on my cond spec. They typically bleed or burn to death before they can stun spam me to death. The stun build is only really a threat against you if you’re playing anything besides a condition spammer. They have to get close to you and they WILL eat all those conditions and drop. Yes, they have ways to stop the conditions, berserker’s stance, etc. but those have cooldowns while I can CONSTANTLY apply conditions. You just need to be able to live through those 8 seconds and try to cond spam them to death afterwards and don’t let them land their burst on you so cleansing ire won’t proc for them. .
Even if they reverse all the changes they’ve done since beta, rtl nerf, mistform, healing, condition removal, we’ll still be relatively weak against the stun spamming warriors and necros because they can still outdamage us before we can kill them. We need all the nerfs undone in addition to a significant boost to our overall damage output.
^My point is, we used to atleast be considered decent at AoE, but we’ve even been replaced in that department. We’re the least desired class in any group. Yeah people will take you still, and I’ve never been kicked from a group because I know what im doing. But that doesn’t change the fact that we’re still the last choice in anything.
The center island should be replaced with an underground missile silo. It will only be accessible when you have the outmanned buff. It will take 200 supplies to build a tactical nuke. It can target any location on the map. once the coordinates are set in, there’s a countdown and the nuke will launch. Any area it is launched at will instantly be flipped and belong to the team that launched it and a 30 minute poison cloud will hang around the area that will damage any enemy for 1500 a tick. Any enemy who is in the area that the nuke impacts will instantly be killed, no down state just dead. Since Anet seems so dead set on making siege even more overpowered than it already is with these ridiculous masteries. I’ve taken it to the extreme. And then we can wait for the traitline “nuke mastery” which will let you blow up an entire map and flip it.
(edited by Nikkinella.8254)
Why are you surprised? After all the repeated nerfs, we’re terrible right now. We never were the best class, people just thought we were OP because they were scrubs and we had unpredictability and we were pretty mobile. But now everyone is used to all eles tricks and learned how to counter us, like they should have done before screaming for us to be nerfed into the ground. But we still got nerfed anyway so we suck. I started out as an ele, but I’ve been spending more and more time on my guardian and warrior lately. They’re just so much better in every conceivable way. Anything an ele can do, they can do exponentially better. Seriously, just roll another class at this point. The difference is like night and day. After playing another class our weakness becomes even more apparent. The only problem is i’m quickly becoming bored with them. They’re nowhere near as fun as ele.
Vulcan gun… 100% crit at range of 2000… only warrior can lift that gun in their arms..
Hypervelocity cannon would be better. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hBIBvVLV3Pg
