All salty here…

So. For a while they have been gone, but now they’re back – the pet/minion farmers. Up until a few weeks ago the gap between buy orders and sell offers shrunk under 10% of the usual. Then a patch came and these sellers disappeared. But for a few days now I’ve been seeing multiple sellers putting up 25-60 stacks of one crafting mat, undercutting competition massively (1-3 silvers when the usual is only few coppers) pushing down the sell price almost to the buy order lvl. So either being able to auto-loot from pet kills was not removed from the game and the farmers only took a break or they have found out a new way to acquire infinite amounts of loot.

I know that this is a mastery, intended to work like this implemented by the allmighty Anet. But is it fair? Shouldnt it be otherwise? All games discourage this kind of mechanics where some1 with a hack, bug, error, etc. gains massive advantages without having to put in effort proportionate to the gain. I still do know that its not a hack, but has the same effect. Basically you can make thousands of gold while being afk all the time. Then flood the market with massively underpriced mats as it does not hurt you in any way, because you didnt have to invest money or effort at all. If you sell everything for 1 copper its still a gain, because you had to invest none.

There may be some tricky reasoning behind this but I really dont like it. Anet was concerned about too many agony infusions flooding the market if they allow free deconstruction of all high agony infusions, yet when crafting mats in much larger numbers and worth much more money flood the market it somehow slips through their fingers.

p.s.: Thin leather squares went from 7s10c to 5s95c, bolts of linen from 11s90c to 9s85c, bolts of wools from 7s10c to 5s90c, etc.

Over what time period are you comparing those costs?

In less than 24 hours. Except coarse leather. Thats 48 hours.

player get upset with afkers because , they think every one afks for the same reason.
if u afk because the game is lost , its ok.
if u afk because u dont like the map , then u should get banned 72h.
just got 2 games in a row with the same player that akitten cause he didnt like the maps that were picked.

The bolded is wrong. So many games have been called “lost” after the first wipe at mid by inexperienced players. Quite often the people who give up are the real reason for a loss as they prevent a comeback. Those players that AFK because they feel the match is lost deserve to be reported.

Keep feeding then.
I think after 25k+ i have a good idea when the game is lost or no.

Ppl keep mixing up winnable and non-winnable games. Yes you dont AFK when there still is a chance. But come on… you only decalre a game ‘lost’ when its 52-497? Once I’m sure we lose, I go AFK. It gets me (and all the others) to a new game sooner which I actually have the chance to win. Or if the enemy team is not so all over the map, I try to pick a 1v1 to have fun and kill time. Telling ppl to run in like headless chickens regardless of the circumstances is anything but sportsmanlike or positive. Just like AFKing in a game thats actually winnable… both scenarios have their corresponding ‘proper attitude’ imho.

The problem with that is the point where the player feels its unwinnable is very different depending on the player. For some its 400/200 and they stop. For others its when they lose the first mid fight and start raging in team chat. For some its when its 200/100.

So you see people can AFK when the match is certainly still winnable because they happen to be 12y kids who rage when they get owned at mid or in a 1v1 on side point.

Just because certain individuals lack the capacity to make this decision wisely, does not mean the attitude is flawed. There is no cure for stupid… Immature and emotionally unstable ppl gonna do what they gonna do anyways – regardless if their behaviour can be justified or not. This is for the ones who actually have situational awareness and a cool head. Just like a chainsaw: works if used well.

Do you never get tired of your nerf DH threads?

Anyway, you play DH and I’ll play Rev. You can guess which one will win but I’ll give you a hint, not the DH. The so OP profession has a hard counter! Who would have thought!

Revs aren’t even our biggest weakness. Any decent ranger/engi can kill us with ease.

Sorry man, but I played guardian for more than 4k hours over the past 3 years and 9 months. Unless the Dragonhunter is a mender bunker, which the Rev will eventually kill, any other DH will die to a power Revenant. Gimmick full trapper you can count down, they die roughly in 20 seconds, once all their defenses are down.

Plz, plz, plz guys elighten a noob about this issue! I’ve recently picked up rev for pvp but I’m even ‘noober’ on it than on other classes so I ofc get obliterated by anyone who the game gives me as an opponent based on my MMR. Including DHs… so what guidelines can you offer me (strategy is enough, I’ll figure out the mechanical part by myself)?

Oh wow. Yes you guys are totally unsung heros, the redpillers, the enlightened. Here you are, humble bragging that you beat a thief who has legendaries etc and acting as if he doesn’t deserve them, and complaining on forums is something revolutionary.

I’d say a ‘newbie’ is indeed more valuable to Anet or the community. At least they are still having fun and not patting themselves on the back for playing the game.

I’d kick you out of my press conference. You’re not making any sense

Well, you guys didnt really get it. And especially to Pregnantman.8259: you like it or not you are the same as me. Not in regards of complaining, but in regards of seeing whats going on for what it is and not being delusional. You see this game for what it is with both good and bad aspects. What I was trying to say that we are minority (those who come to the forum and discuss stuff). And guys ripping their hair out on the forums why Anet is not listening to the ‘community’ are actually not the community just the minority. And the poor thief bloke in my story represents the guy who cant even see if the game is good or not but will spend the same or even more money on it. And thats what matters in business. So dont try to push this in personal directions. Thats what’s not making sense…

That you dont need to be legend and still can get all the others… so you could be God himself playing pvp your words dont weigh more and your wallet is the same as mine or the newbie’s who got his account yesterday. The guy I mentioned above may even worth more to Anet than you because he does not come on the forums to give criticism and make Anet look bad. He’s kept in the illusion that the game is fine. Just like the majority of the population. And the thin layer between the masses and the few beneficiaries are ‘us’ who are actually capable of seeing this game for what it is (a great-great potential wasted away carelessly and for profits) and demanding quality improvements. We are the unwanted journalists who get kicked out from the press conference.

Actually we have every right to demand it since Anet did promise us (and lied just like about MMR reset) that elite specs will bring variety but won’t be stronger than core. The sole reason why elites are so overtuned is sales, nothing else.

They chose the easier way: they didnt make the game good, they just made it look good to those who dont really understand it. The armies of champtrain and worldboss farmers see that there are tournaments but cant make more out of it than my grandma. They know names some famous player or teamnames, whos builds they may copy and thats it. A few days ago I played against a thief with my rev. Killed him 3 times without him dodging, stealthing or anything. But he had 3 legendaries + back. He had a companion, and ghostly infusions and permanent gathering tools and griffon mail carrier, and…

Are you starting to see a pattern here? You can build up a gaming community by making a good game that will engage a lot of good and even better players. Who, after a while attract more and more people to play the game, making the competition tougher. And the two processes strengthen eachother. OR – what Anet seems to have chosen – make a crappy game. 95% of the players wont even notice if its actually crappy or not. And get a bunch of socially awkward wannabe-s with inferiority complex, give them a few bucks for playing and sell the whole thing to the community as e-sports…

I keep those that need to be crafted into an other item, but what about those that you only need once to get a tick on the collection list. When to play spvp?

Nimrud.5642

Why am I tossed down on the MMR ranking during the day? When I play late at night there still may be some stupid blowout matches, but 70% of my matches are quite fun and balanced. But during the day gw2 thinks that I got much worse and puts me together with total noobs. Which ends me up in the hectic 50-500, 500-50 back and forth blowout session. Uncompetitive, no feeling of accomplishment whether its a win or a loss. My feeling is that the masses of kiddos who mostly play during the day flood the servers and ‘the big guys’ who get their MMR during the night hours in a more tight competition get littered amongst this mass of noobs who get their MMR in a much less fierce competitive environment. (Im not godmode, but there are levels inbetween the total noob level and the so called ‘ESL level’. I’m on one of those, but surely quite a few above ‘noob’.)

Am I thinking along the proper lines is it just trying to find a pattern in the clouds? If my assessment is right than does it mean one has to stick to certain gaming hours otherwise your MMR will carry you too high or low in regards of skill level?

Healing Druid Raiding Builds and Help

in Ranger

Posted by: Nimrud.5642

Nimrud.5642

So is it fine to use this build with zerker back/rings/earrings/amulet for high lvl fracs and keep the original build with full healer gear for raiding?

Also, I’m a little confused about healing power… I get that if I use exotic accessories I get to slot those Sapphire jewels which give 20 more HP than ascended infusions (25 vs 5) but the loss from not using ascended gear goes like this:

back: 63 – 30 = 33
rings: 126 – 90 = 36
earrings: 110 – 75 = 35
amulet: 157 – 120 = 37

So, 5 × 20 = 100 extra HP from using sapphire jewels instead of infusions. Plus 25 because with exotic gear you can also slot your amulet with sapphire jewels unlike the ascended version for which only utility infusions (enrichments or what) are usable. So 125 HP gain from the extra slot and the better jewels.

And 33 + 2 × 36 + 2 × 35 + 37 = 212 extra HP from better base stats of the asc gear.

YET the build editor shows more HP for your build… How come? Sapphire jewels also have toughness and power on them, so I was looking for traits or food or runes or whatever that says ‘converts X% of your toughness/power into healing power’ but I’ve found none… So what am I missig here? Or is the build editor wrong?

Keyboard question

in Players Helping Players

Posted by: Nimrud.5642

Nimrud.5642

A few suggestions:
1) Get another keyboard model. Look for models that advertise N-key rollover, or any reviews that can confirm that. Don’t rely on “anti-ghosting” as that term is less strict.
2) Get a gaming key pad, e.g. Razer Tartarus or Orbweaver. It’s fairly expensive for what amounts to a quarter of a keyboard (Logitech had a version but it’s discontinued and difficult to find new… RIP competition), but I’ve used the Orbweaver for a couple of years now and could never go back.
3) Bind jump to a different button. You could consider binding jump to a mouse button even.

For now I’ll switch jump with stow weapon. And I’ll buy a decent keyboard as you suggested. Ty for the help.

Keyboard question

Nimrud.5642

What is your keyboard model?
Gaming keyboards normally state if they have x-key roll-over, e.g 10 key roll-over means it will register 10 key presses at once. If I recall correctly some models “cheat” by only having that feature enabled in certain areas of the keyboard, usually around wasd as that is what most people use.

Trust GXT 280

If I push any other 2 buttons at the same time plus the num pad 0 then it works perfectly. But if I push 2 arrow keys it doesnt. Also, if I use any other key for jumping other than num pad 0 (Ctrl for example) it work perfectly with the arrows. Only arrows plus num pad 0 does not work… Drama! :O

Keyboard question

Nimrud.5642

Hey,

just bought a new USB keyboard. I play on the right side of the keyboard using arrows for movement and the keys around them including the num pad buttons. I use num pad 0 for jumping. And after installing the new keyboard I realized that when pushing two movement keys (ex.: forward and left) my character wont jump. I tried remapping keys, but no matter what key I assign to the num pad 0 button, it does not work when two movement keys are pushed at the same time. So I gave up and got an other USB keyboard… just to see the same problem. -.- So is this an universal USB keyboard issue or are there certain models that dont do this? Or should I go back to the old ps/2 connector? To my best knowledge, those are only able to transmit 3 simultaneous keystrokes… which caused me trouble quite a few times before. Now those are gone, but this new one has now come. Isnt that funny?

So better USB keyboard or go back to PS/2 or assign something to num pad 0 that I never use while moving? (Playing on the left side is not an option for me.)

Update on +16 Infusions

in Fractals, Dungeons & Raids

Posted by: Nimrud.5642

Nimrud.5642

I do understand Anet’s reasoning for not allowing the market to be flooded. However, the solution they have found are quite far from good. I have one +14 infusion that I cant do anything with atm.

Lets take a look at Anet’s solution for my personal case: I’ll have to craft 3 more +14 infusions to turn them into 2 +15, and then those into a +16 to not lose my currently owned +14. So calculating cost of it would look something like this (using +9 infusions as a measurement because they are the currency for +5 +9 too):

-getting five +5+9 infusions just simply by buying it from INFUZ:
15 pieces of +9 infusions and 1000 matrices plus relics that are abundant anyway

-using my +14 infusion:
96 pieces of +9 infusions and no matrices

so 81 pieces of +9 vs 1000 matrices, thats 1300g vs 440g at current prices

so i’m better off if i just throw out my +14 or sell it on the TP

i wouldnt call this a solution by any means, basically what one can do is only minimzing losses and not wealth conversion

Hello,

so before patch I used 4 +13 agony infusions and a +14 (so I could afford using WvW power infusions is offensive slots and still had 150 AR), but now due to the +9 infusions I’ll need a lot less. Thanks to Anet the new golem vendor offers the option of infusion breakdown, but only up to +13. The Wiki shows nothing about the +14 infusion being divideable or downgradeable. And for the same reasons – not many are willing to buy it at the TP either. So is there a solution here?

Nimrud.5642

It’s because of the AFK farmers who are dumping what they earned. Supply has gone up by something like 75% this past week.

So who are these mysterious AFK farmers? Or rather… what is ‘AFk farming’? Are there bots that run your character with the Orr/Frostgorge champ trains and SW and whatnot? I still dont see how can one get 20-40 stacks of squares and bolts of textile and leather. For example there are no champ trains that give you low lvl loot if you are 80. But even wool and thin leather (lvl 20-30 stuff) is in massive oversupply.

I’m not saying that these guys cheat, it just annoys me that I cant figure out how they do it. Atm the whole textile and leather market is flooded with low price mass-sellers (they undercut a good 15-30% below the market price, instead of the usual 1 copper). Several of them. So you see 5-6 guys selling 2k-10k pieces of leather or textile. They are not robbing themselves for sure, so there must be a way they get this much stuff leagally if ANET does not ban them. What I do is putting up buy orders, then salvaging and selling. But I cant keep up with them niether in price nor in volume. Whats the trick here?

Nimrud.5642

Hello,

I’m not planning to get involved into this issue too much, but it is worth a try…

My observation in the last few weeks is that certain goods occur at the TP in a quite unusual way. Namely, it looks to me that some1 dumps huge quantities of crafting materials at a significantly lower price than the otherwise normal market price. Forming a price plug. Having played many MMOs before – to my best knowledge, this kind of behaviour is typical to hackers/botters or anyone else who can get stuff for free so there is no such price for them as ‘too low’. No/hardly any competition because of the low price, but no loss of effort as getting the materials took none or minimal.

This is only a suspicion ofc. I’ll tell you one example and see it for yourself if you are interested: coarse leather squares —> for at least 10 days someone (probably one person, but the TP interface does not show such information) has been putting them on the TP 25-40 stacks (6000-10000 pieces) a day, always undercutting the lowest seller by much more than it is usual in the case of frequently traded and highly demanded crafting materials where the usual undercut is only a few coppers. Take a look at the history of coarse leather squares at Spidy (http://www.gw2spidy.com/item/19734), and you see that except for the occasional spike (probably when the guys sleeps lol) the price is always hammered down around 11s50c.

I can not prove this, but I’ve been trading crafting materials almost since launch, and I’ve never before seen this occuring so consistently. So this may be something Anet wants take a look at… or maybe not.

p.s.: Leather cant even be farmed from nodes, it had to be salvaged from armor pieces. So a guy buying 60-100k armor pieces (quite a lot of gold), salvaging them (probably 20-30 hours of clicking, then crafting squares from sections) is just simply willing to throw out at least half of his earning potetial? Seems a little too much effort to me to be wasted this easily… but maybe thats just me.

…like me.

Probably many others are walking in my shoes now, so I thought it’d be a good idea to ask a few questions. But before I do, I have to clarify these:

I did read the patchnotes, and I’m capable of understanding longer English sentences, but I’m not capable of making them into a brief and realistic opinion. So here’s what I got out of them, and I’d like you guys to correct my statements – if needed:

Ele:

Scepter buff is nice but not enough. Other than that, everything remained the same. Cleric tempest lives on.

Engie and necro:

Lil’ nerf here and there (sustain and damage as well). If we consider their ‘before patch’ potential 100% then now they are both around 85%.

Rev:

Same, but the decrease is only like 5% so 95% of the ‘before patch’ potential is still present.

Thief:

D/P seems to keep the 1st spot, but staff, P/P and S/D got a little closer to it. Mechanic changes arent revolutionary. Still ok, still not meta. Practicly thief is where it used to be before patch.

Mes:

105%

Guard:

A big disappointing nothing.

Warr:

A total mess to me atm. Could not tell what the patch actually brought for them if my life depended on it.

Ranger:

The old bunker with staff and S/D, but now with Axe off-hand?

First of all, it does not matter if its a win or a loss. I’d like to see your opinions/experiences about this issue. So what percentage of your matches are blowouts or meaningless due to other causes such as DCs, AFKers, etc.? And how many matches do you get when your performance actually matters and can influence the outcome in any meaningful way? I’d say its 50-50 for me. Which is actually really bad. But I still want to check if I’m just a whiner or is GW2 pvp really not so competitive…

Is the stunmaster build somewhat viable?

in Warrior

Posted by: Nimrud.5642

Nimrud.5642

Hello,

is this build at least slightly viable? I’d really like to play my warrior again, but I havent used him ever since warrior fell down to bottom tier. I’m kinda elitist – if you can say that about a casual player – so I wont play my warr if I’m a major hinderance to the team and my personal enjoyment of the game. Any thoughts?

If any of you guys studied psychology you know why – even though it makes no sense – it feels better to complain if something unfortunate happened to you. So here it goes lets be amused together by the stupidity of others:

3 guardians attacking the enemy gate without our hero spawned. Telling them what to do didnt help. Even the enemy left them alone… plowed through the map, killed out lord in one go. While the 3 guards kept hitting the gate….

Nice one huh? Share your story!

3,4,5 necro teams

in PvP

Nimrud.5642

Hi,

so this is probably a l2p issue (in a strategic regard) for me, so I hope you’ll help me out. Ranting about class stacking is as old as the game, so… Is this like the old turret engie issue? Namely: on a somewhat equal skill level there was no point fighting a turret engie 1v1, rather go 4v5 on the other 2 points and let him just camp their home node. I thought the same about this necro issue. ‘Dont get involved in huge team fights because they just melt everybody. They are slow, run them out. Decap, juke, whatever… just do something they are not good at.’ (My first approach was to get on my druid or tempest and heal/cleanse the kitten out of my teammates. It never worked…) Problem is running them out does not seem to work either. I run up and down on my thief, decapping stuff, but there are no fights to +1. All my other teammates just die in 4-10 seconds from engaging. (Me too if I choose to play a skirmisher class.)

Still there must be a way to counter them, otherwise we would have seen 5 necro teams before class stacking got outruled. Im a noob, but I need to understand what to aim for when facing 3+ necros. Because it just cant be true that all my multi-necro games were lost due to them being much more skilled than my team. It happens 3-4 times, but does not 30 out of 30 games. So there must be something in the game mechanics that favors necro play style on low skill level / unorganized gameplay…

Hello,

so here it is. (I meant this for solo roaming, otherwise I change air to water when in a group.) Any input is welcome regarding the build, but my specific question would be runes:

Stay with scrapper? Or rather surging or fire? (just because there is no such thing as ‘too many auras’)

I dont mean to hurt anyone but imho personal skill level is irrelevant in this case. And to add on top of that getting stuck in a division isnt either. But they dont have that strong relationship as some like to describe it.

What I mean by that:

Getting imbalanced matchups, a lot of blowouts (no matter which side), and long losing streaks should not have to do anything with skill level. The system’s job would be to rate everyone and put those people together to play with/against eachother. This stupid ‘record a game an post in on YT so we can judge you’ makes no sense. If given player is indeed stupid, inexperienced, selfish, kittened, etc. then he should be put against equally stupid, inexperienced, selfish, kittened, etc. people to compete with. The point you are making is basically ‘you cant whine about anything unless you play flawlessly 100% of the time’. The only players who ‘should’ experience regular losses are only the very bottom of amber (there is a bottleneck effect at both ends of the food-chain).

In all other divisions the win rate should be around 50-50 with acceptable differences. And win margin should ideally be 150 points or less. Not being able to move up to higher divisions is not an issue imo. Thats just an ego question for some… However playing games that dont even resemble anything thats competitive is indeed an issue. And again, I dont get why ‘competitive’ can only be said about ESL level gameplay. There is competition on every skill level. On lower skill levels its about ‘who makes fewer unthinkably idiotic plays’ if you are so keen on getting this glued together with the skill level question.

So all in all: people should be rated and put together properly in terms of competence, REGARDLESS of skill level.

my 3 cents…

I just dont get how there are people still defending this system. It does not measure skill level properly. Makes too many bad matchups, causing 70% of the games being a blowout. No competitive feeling, no personal motivation, a lot less room for improvement (fighting even fights raises your skill level, being outnumbered and stomped in 6 sec does not) , no reason to add that little extra because it just simply does not matter. 70% of my games would have the same result even if I was afk all the time.

People who like pvp, like it for its competitive nature. Well this is anything but competitive…

(Adding an in-game voice chat option would be nice, so that we could talk to eachother by one click rather than setting up TS and whatnot… wont solve all problems but would be a good start)

Many keep saying that blowout games happen because MMR is not sorted out yet. But after a while the effects of the MMR reset will go away, everyone will move to their divison indicative of their skill level and we get more balanced games. We are well into the season now and the thing still happens a lot. I think we should be looking for an other explanation…

Gear or sigils/runes/food

Nimrud.5642

Hey,

so I’m planning to start raiding on my druid and also planning to craft healing gear for my ele. I know that in both cases an all-out healing spec is a bit of an overkill. But I’d still like to have some options to boost my healing output if needed. Keeper/zealot gear is quite hard and expensive to come by due to recipe prices. So can this be solved by having an other set of zerker gear with supportive runes/sigils and eating riceball? Or it cant be skipped and I have to buy those expensive recipes?

I’ve seen a lot of versions of these two builds, but I’m not convinced on either one of them. So I’d really appreciate if you more experienced guys could give me some advice wether to use them in any version, and what those versions should exactly be.

Search and Rescue vs Glyph of the Tides

in Ranger

Nimrud.5642

Hey,

the question is simple…

I’m leaning towards the glyph because SaR is too situational imho. However when its needed, it is quite a lot of help. I watched ROM and Phanta playing druid, they both have SaR on their bars but most of the time they dont use it. Minutes go by and they dont use it… wouldnt basically anything be more useful than that? (I know, I know… they are pros and stuff, but I still had to ask this.)

Going D/D

Nimrud.5642

Ok, so after a few days of testing I still could not come up with a clear answer about this off-hand weapon dilemma…

Played a few matches both with focus and warhorn. And I find that warhorn is better in general… well almost. I find all the other warhorn skills better than focus skills except diamond skin. I dont have ego problems with some dirt napping if things work out in an unfortunate way. So I dont have emotional issues if I get ganked sometimes. But what about objective viewpoints? Such as: ‘Will it benefit my team more if I can survive being focused every 50s? Or will it benefit my team more if I can pump out more dmg, CC and healing but sometimes melt like a candle?’

p.s.: 2 things that may not be correct im my question’s context:

1. I automatically supposed that warhorn is better in every respect, except earth 5.

2. The answer to my question is heavily team-setup dependent imho, so giving a general answer may not be possible.

Your rings can take 4 agony slots.

How come its 4? One from the basic slot, one from the pre-HoT infusion, and one from the attuned infusion… thats 3. What am I missing?
