I ran them both over 5 times. I am very excited to see them return. You don’t speak for everyone so don’t act like your opinion is the be-all end-all of what the community wants.
oh but i’ve spoke to a lot of people about these two when they were available, no one liked them. on this forum im not surprised to see so much positivity about these two mini dungeons because most people here are fanboys who go crazy even if they add something as minor as a ONE new mini pet… Both of these mini dungeons are far from ‘fun’ or great.

rangers are NOT awesome. Rangers is the class that needs the most help. I play ranger because i like bow wearing characters but don’t tell me that rangers are fine… You swap pets, gain 3sec of quickness and your pet doesn’t even instantly attack and instead wastes 2sec standing still~~~~~~if this is not broken i don’t know what is.
no, thing sounds stupid, its a video game go marry elsewhere… add content instead of more mini games

Your missing the fact that it also used to never blind. Enemies cleaving through several chaos armor clones greatly increase that 33% blind proc.
Edit: Chaos armor from combo finishers also never procced protection or blind at all.
Chaos armor used to cause blind so I have no idea what you are talking about. I use to love combining chaos armor with blinding befuddlement before they nerfed both confusion and BB (now has a crap 5 second CD). It made for a powerful stack of confusion since 2/3 of chaos armor would cause a stack of it.
It wasn’t blinding like 4-5 patches ago but it does blind for months now so i dunno what Duck is talking about-.-
But would you have ever used a combo’d Chaos Armor against those same opponents before anyway? Swiftness/Regen wouldn’t have done much; Protection procs are definitely a buff.
As far as the Staff 4? I feel your pain, man.
You ignore the 1sec CD, this is a huge nerf. I was surprised almost no one playing ele ******** on forums when this was implemented to their auras because i could get up to like 15sec of annoying chill spamming GS and now like 4sec… Back when i ran condi builds often, i liked to just stand in low damaging aoe and stack tones of free confusion, now you can’t do that anymore.
Chaos Armor was buffed. The Staff was nerfed.
It never needed the ICD before because it only gave Swiftness/Regen when hit, and only caused cripple/confusion.
So, what you’re saying is… As a buff, Chaos Armor was always horrible (and worse before the patch) but acceptable on the staff because of the on-demand protection.If you’re using the staff, it comes with at least 10 seconds of Chaos Storm, so you can definitely squeeze more than 2 boons from it.
Regeneration doesn’t scale any differently for Mesmer than it does for any other class. You get out of it what you put into it. Same thing with the rest of the boons. Swiftness works better in PvE, but Swiftness + Cripple should make a difference in combat, even if the opponent has swiftness. Blind is cool, and now our clones can cause blindness/cripple when we iLeap out of Chaos Storm.
Those suggested buffs sound awesome though. The one thing Chaos Armor doesn’t need is Regeneration and it needs more Confusion to be viable (though Torment would probably be a more appropriate condition). I’d honestly just drop Regen/Confusion altogether and leave the rest the same.. and return the protection gained back to 5 seconds.
Chaos Armor was buffed, and isn’t/never was horrible, but could be a bit better. Staff was nerfed as a result. Now Chaos Armor is better/worse depending on your build, and staff is better for teammates.
Both the staff and chaos armor were nerfed. Staff because there’s no protection on demand anymore and chaos armor because it can only proc once a sec and this is very noticeable against SB rangers and especially GS mesmers spamming Spatial Surge.

Well, now its almost garbage, garbage like the majority of ele auras. For boons i’d agree on what you mentioned (3sec of protection, 2sec of stability, 3-5sec of aegis). But having Fear is too much tho. Maybe a chance to pro daze? That would nice in combination of Blind and weakness. Now that chaos armor is much weaker than it was, it needs some kind of RNG CC.
They need to remove this stupid auto attack chain completely (how many of you get to third attack instead of swapping to another weapon or using all your other skills available or dodging?).
Dodging doesn’t reset chain skills.
On top of that, Scepter 1 for mesmer is unique in that it doesn’t reset if you use a different skill in between steps. Confusing Images is a bit too long to fit in between attacks, I think, but I know you can use illusionary counter in the middle without interrupting your chain.
i never said dodging does. What i meant is do other stuff instead of pulling the whole crappy chain. Skills on scepter takes ages to cast so by the time they’re all used, your weapon swap will be available and there’s no point of spamming scepter crappy autos.
i got 66% solo and the only reason im not doing the other 34% is because there’s no point to do it. Run a power build with good amount of toughness and i don’t see how could it be hard. I mapped the whole old annoying orr with CC on every corner solo and i don’t think i died once from mobs, only fall damage

Yes im aware “there’s no buttons in the game” but at the same time this game is on pc, buttons isn’t exactly what’s missing. And just think for a sec how worthless our F1-F3-F4 is compared to pretty much any other class in the game. I certainly would take something like Distortion over calling my freaking pet back any day of the year.
F1: Attack your target!!! lol shouldn’t be wasting our F1-F4 abilities and assigned to a different button
F2: The only one that is useful and should be on the F1-F4 bar, now if only CD wasn’t half a year on 90% of pet skills.
F3: Return to me!!! lol even worst than F1 and should also be macro’d on other buttons instead of wasting our profession specific skills.
F4: I cannot believe swapping pets is wasting a slot, this is beyond stupid…
Some classes get invulnerability from Distortion, others get aoe CC, combo fields, blast finishers and such. We get the ability to call our pet back, what the F!?
Full zerger cof party has 25 might, 25 vuln & crit banner, which is around 70% more damage…

The best thing you can do if you don’t wanna buy new gear/run different build is make a Killshot build and go troll people for dat 20k+ damage per killshot in wvw.

I personally don’t have any problems with condis and think they should be as or even more powerful than power based builds (as hexes were in gw1) what i have problems with is nec/engi having WAAAAAAY more condis than any other class. Like other classes have no conditions in comparison and i think this should change so more peeps run different builds.
When we have access to daggers (hopefully one day) i’d like to have another stealth weapon which in reality would be our first because Torch is more of a joke than a weapon worth a consideration.

meh i ran it since day one and would take GS for a condi build over scepter any day for pvp or pve BUT its still a condi build… not worth running.
but then there’s no way to get rid of half useless phantasms such as iwarden/image if needed? lol no thanks i prefer what we currently have… One thing i agree tho, phantasms shouldn’t die after your target dies but only disappear when you’re out of combat or you die.
I run almost exactly what i run in most challenging pve content such as Arah or lev40+ FoTM. 20/20/0/0/30 with a mix of Soldier, Cavalier and Zerker gear in a shatter/phantasm hybrid. Without any buffs im at 2005power/78% crit damage with 1880 toughness. Tones of aoe damage if needed, awesome for single target and high survivability.
Absolutely and i sure want to have the Phantasmal Fury’s effect on clones. Plus it makes no sense to have traits such as Crippling Dissipation/Confusion Combatants/Debilitating Dissipation… This is three different traits all in different trees that should be fused in one and put in a Master Trait, THEN it would be worth taking. This is a problem for all classes tho, too many useless traits that should be fused together to be worth a kitten .
This reminds me of The Witch 2 which by spending skills unlocks the ability to block lol BLOCK had to be unlocked… GW2 does the same thing by letting you unlock crap that should never be unlocked individually but be combined with other stuff like the example above and we instantly have two freed traits (for something completely new) and one that is significantly more powerful especially for condi builds.
No, confusion should be as is, deal damage. Its the damage that is broken everywhere. In spvp its laughably low, in wvw we now have the same problem which is a little bit less noticeable because of food buffs and in pve mobs don’t attack often enough to consider pure confusion builds. If all pve mobs proced confusion as often as Karka Queen it would’ve been better than power based builds.

WvW has no goal unless you care about useless titles so a goal is what i’d want in wvw above all else/.
They were designed to be weaker than profession skills, but able to fill in small niches that some professions are lacking. Such as the human condition removal skill for professions lacking in that area.
Okay name me one profession that is lacking condi removal. I know one, mesmer. Will you run crappy Prayers of Kormir (40sec CD for 3condis removed LOLOLOL) over Null Field/Mantra of Resolve or even Arcane Thievery? No, no one would and no one is. Feels like some of you are just defending ‘skill fillers’ not worth a kitten . Its like anet ran out of ideas and just put useless crap and don’t care if people use them or not.
Mesmers use them a fair bit, our class elites kind’ve suck for solo play – sure people whine about Moa morph, and everyone loves Time Warp or mass invisibility; but ask yourself “How useful are these skills to the actual mesmer sacrificing their elite slot to field one” and you’ll find the answer is “Not much”.
I’d much rather stick Elixir U or Quickening Zepher in my elite slot than timewarp; we pay for these skills party-buff capabilities, by having cooldowns 3 or 4 times longer than their single-target-utility counterparts (In many ways it’s the mesmer’s lot in life to act as a utility-bot for other people – other people who will invariably scream ‘nerf mesmer’ and get you trashed even more come next patch)
As an Asura my D-series golem also has a few situational uses, providing an additional set of barriers for projectile heavy fights like the lava shaman or SE triple golem pull.
Mesmer is a bad example because they probably have the most useful utilities of all other classes and have three strong elites for all kind of purposes. To what is available as a human mez, there’s not a single racial specific skill worth using.

even if it does, 3sec casting time is a joke. leave it at 900 range but decrease casting time to 1.1/2sec casting time
Are you thinking of Scepter #3? For the Scepter #2 block, the longer the cast, the better IMO (so the block lasts longer). ;-)

OMG SO GLAD THEY ARE REVERTING THIS!!!!!!!!! I hated when they made the protection on use instead of proc. ^^ If they would just fix the blinding befuddlement and increased the confusion damage my Chaos Armor Build will be viable again. ^^
Don’t like these 1second internals though.
You want to know the best part? They don’t consider blinding befuddlement broken so don’t wait for this to be fixed and condi damage may only be nerfed EVEN more instead of damage increased. What i think they’ll do one day is have a 1sec internal CD on confusion/reta, so yeaaaaaah
The two most important i’d say (don’t care what happens to scepter/torch so i won’t bother with these two) is Winds of Chaos and Mind Stab.
Winds of Chaos: Vulnerability replaced by 5sec torment or 2sec of poison but since poison is a little bit too powerful for pvp i think crappy torment would do the job nicely. If it has to be a none dealing damage condi it can only be a 1sec chill, if its anything else (fear/immobilize/stun/dazed excluded of course) its automatic fail.
Mind Stab: What i want the most from this skill is for it to become a 30-35sec CD aoe high damage+bleeding (2stacks of bleeds per hit, 5sec bleed lasting time) that lasts like Chaos Storm (5sec). Mes needs more aoe for tagging and that would be it.
GS is a pile of crap. Worst long range weapon in the game. It has the weakest autoattack out of comparable weapons, autoattack is channeled which makes it suck when trying to keep distance. It deals 3 hits of damage which makes it suck vs any retal. Skill 2 is good damage but it will bounce to clones and buff them with might, which is useless. Skill 3 is useless. Skill 4 is a good phantasm in theory, but it has a delay that makes it dodgeable and in pve killeable by mobs. Skill 5 is ok, but insufficient to keep enemies at 1200 range.
Whoever came up with damage scaling with distance on autoattack should be banned from working as a designer ever again.
Agree on weapon damage scaling for sure. This mechanic should never be on an auto attack, neverrrrrrrrr. The three hits from spatial surge may be bad against reta but its awesome for your clones bleed stacking so i’d say i like the three hits instead of one such as on a long bow.
It has the best auto, iwave is amazing, izerker does the job now and mirror blade is great n spammable. The only garbage skill it has is mind stab and 4/5 good skills on a weapon is pretty good in my book. Its my 2nd fav after staff because staff with chaos storm/phase retreat is hot.
Boon removal on a weapon, will never not use it.
its one boon removed, ONE… If its that low it should at least steal them and it doesn’t. One of the worst if not the worst mesmer weapon skill in the game… As i said one million times, Mind Stab should remove three boons or steal 1 boon+damage a little bit increased or damage increased by at least 20% and automatically hit your target (as it was in beta)
