Personally I find it bugging me to the point of not showing the helmet.
It makes your head look tiny in comparison to the rest of the armour.

Centaurs for leathers (they love leather)
They’re 43% leather!

I also love the comparison of Defy Pain to Protection.
You do realize that it has a 90 seconds long cooldown? You do also realize that with a Hammer, a Guardian can pretty much keep Protection up constantly?
Do you even lift, bro?
The game does scale traits up, but not armor.
Actually, its the other way around. A lvl 80 character has access to his Grandmaster Traits, a lvl 20 character doesn’t. The lvl 20 character’s armour does get scaled up though.

Again, Guardians don’t seem to have to deal with any sort of “punishment” or “penalty” for their access to Protection.
Just give it a rest already.
Oh and Weakness? Yeah that’d actually make a cool feature: you could time your Hammer 2 and Protection for a short “burst of tankyness”. Just what the Warrior needs.

Drops are usually of my own level (80)… and most cloth comes from salvaging the cloth armors of that cloths lower level… so anyone got any tips on how to get lower level cloths?
Kill low-level humanoid enemies (like bandits, grawl etc). They can drop bags of loot that might contain cloth, but also frayed pieces of cloth that are guaranteed to salvage into one or more pieces of cloth.
Do you even lift, bro?
Considering that it was reported as early as launch (or even beta?) I’d say… never.
Do you even lift, bro?
Look at the Mace.
The Mace!
It’s a friggin’ disco ball!
Nothing wrong with that, if it lit up and rotated maybe.
It is plenty wrong. Why should players that want to use maces be punished by a “joke” weapon while players who want to use greatswords get this really awesome, or dare I say, legendary-looking weapon?
The disco ball skin belongs in the Gem Store for teh lulz, not on a Legendary.
Do you even lift, bro?
A trait that granted Protection but -33% damage dealt while under the effects of it would seem like a fair compromise for granting us hard access to the boon, but how many people would slot that trait then.
No, it does not seem fair at all.
Seriously, do you even play this class or are your attempts at dissuading Anet from considering granting Warriors Protection fueled by spite or something?

The female version looks about the right size in comparison to the concept art, but the male version is sadly underwhelming and disappointing.
Please consider redesigning it!
Do you even lift, bro?
Well, armor smith needs leather and cloth too, just the same as the other armor professions, so they need salvaged mats too.
Cloth and leather are secondary materials for those professions, not primary materials as for Tailor/Leatherworker.
Do you even lift, bro?
The gear advantage is just part of the problem; not having access to all of your skills and a full Trait build is a more pressing issue.
Do you even lift, bro?
I have a feeling that people are just wasting that 15% listing fee by doing this.
I mean, who the heck can afford 2000+ gold?!
Those Legendaries probably will never sell.
Do you even lift, bro?
Just me who is bugged by this? It annoyed me at launch, and the resentment hasn’t gone away. Lets take Armorsmithing: you can gather Oricalchum out in the field or you can take a gamble and salvage potential loot for a chance at getting Oricalchum.
As a Tailor you have to take a gamble and salvage potential loot, as does a Leatherworker. This makes certain crafting professions a lot more expensive (potential loot loss and buying Salvage Kits) and just generally more annoying than they have to be.
Anyone else feel the same?
Do you even lift, bro?
. You can already play a pretty tanky Warrior by running all Knights armor/Jewelery
Yeah as I said, beefy DPS. You’re not a tank in that setup.
Guardians do not nearly have the health pool to sustain hit after hit without the Boons/condition removal they have.
Guardians have so much Health regeneration that much more Health would just be a handicap for them (take longer to Heal up). Furthermore, a Warriors high Health is “false tankyness” because without any sort of damage mitigation (like Protection!) it is gone in a flash. In any actual gameplay scenario a Guardian will take a lot less damage than a Warrior.
Your arguments don’t hold water: there is no reason why Warriors can’t have an easier access (as in any access!) to Protection.
Do you even lift, bro?
Off the top of my head, no. But I’m fairly sure that dryders – like a vast majority of D&D lore – originates from an older mythos, even if not the exact same name or identity. Most Tolkien and D&D fantasy originates from norse mythos (incuding, yes, dark elves – though in the original norse mythology, dark elf and dwarf are one and the same), so my bet would be there.
Driders are pretty unique to DnD lore. If my inner nerd remembers correctly, each Drow has to pass some test by Lloth and those who fail are cursed to become half-Drow, half-spider monstrosities.
Do you even lift, bro?
Think about what I said though. Those professions that grant it (Guardian for example) are ment to play a supportive role. They deserve it because they are designed around that specific goal in mind.
Guardians can also, y’know, dodge? Just as well as a Warrior. Your entire argument is based on that reasoning and as such it is entirely flawed.
Warriors need Protection just as much as Guardians, if not more due to not being as tanky otherwise. Warriors at the moment are just beefy DPS; if we try to tank we are just a very, very mediocre tank.

I’d sell my own mother into white slavery for the ability to preview dyes on the Trading Post…
Do you even lift, bro?
sounds like a guild not worth being a part of to be honest
I second this. There are a lot better Guilds out there that are probably more than happy to take you in.
Do you even lift, bro?
That’s the dumbest logic ever.
Should we remove the ability to dodge on every other class that can grant themselves Protection then?
Do you even lift, bro?
… did I ever state it would?
Do you even lift, bro?
Just adding to the above; who’s to say the other ED’s won’t be aware of Zhaitan’s fall, and be all the more cautious or aggressive as a result?
You mean they’ve got a Legion of Doom sort of deal?
Do you even lift, bro?
You need to put another rune in your rebreather for it to work as it replaces any and all stats on your helm.
Do you even lift, bro?
Just look up the Wiki on the Traits.
They state the exact cooldown there.

Option to “lockdown” our Banners, please!
Do you even lift, bro?
Pretty sure that’s supposed to be a Spear that got mixed up somehow…
EDIT: Perhaps it is for NPCs? They might have “hidden” types of weapons like this. Anyone seen a NPC with that weapon?
Hylek use spears on land.
And blowpipes if I remember correctly. Poisonous blowpipes for thieves and rangers, whoop!
And @Oglaf/Mystic Starfish, it looks more like a halberd or a naginata (Japanese polearm, google them) then it looks like a spear IMO.
Does those exist in the game? No they don’t. It looks like a Spear (note the capital S indicating weapon class in-game).
Do you even lift, bro?
She has the wings though :/ Ah well.
I hear you. But it would make no sense for an Orrian priestess of Dwayna to have been anything but human.
Do you even lift, bro?
The Risen Priestess of Dwayna is a risen Largos, right? Someone here mentioned that Largos can’t be risen, but I’m pretty sure she is one.
No… she’s and ex-human like the rest of the Orrians. I’m guessing she’s just really freaky looking, like most high tier undead.
Do you even lift, bro?
Not saying I agree with your idea being good, but Warriors/Guardians should get the “light armour bonus” for wearing Heavy armour because they’re conditioned for it.

Warriors need easier access to the Protection boon, really.
Do you even lift, bro?
And then the bonus of having the heavier set would be to have more armor (obviously) and the bonus of choosing the lighter set would be something to do with speed, maybe -0.2 recharge time on skills or 10% faster endurance rate or -5% of skill casting speed.
Something like this would add customization, and a choice about whether ypu prefer speed or taking damage.
Why should Guardians and Warriors be punished for wearing the armour they are designed for?
Do you even lift, bro?
Oglaf:
I just looked over the aggro wiki page, http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Aggro, and I learned quite a bit from it. After considering the information, my answer to my question in the OP must be that armor classes do not need to changed. It seems myself and others that I play with just did not have the information to manage threat properly.
Even something as small as reviving allies creating a very large amount of threat is insanely useful to know.
There should be a section in the Tips menu in-game devoted to this mechanic.
Yeah that would’ve avoided a lot of pain for IRL friend of mine and his Mesmer. He thought he died too easily during dungeons, so he started stacking Toughness.
Guess what that resulted in?
More deaths because of all the aggro!
Do you even lift, bro?
Sadly, no.
I think it’d be really cool if at some point during our Personal Story we got the set of the Spirit we picked at character creation.
Yeah.
Do you even lift, bro?
Oh definitely. It is a kitten shame that there is virtually no visual difference between the Copper weapons you start forging to the Mithril ones you forge way later on.
Do you even lift, bro?
Yeah there are no taunts or any other form of aggro management. There are just certain things (like equipping a Shield) that you can do in order to try an manipulate the aggro system, but in the end you still have rely on hope that you will hold the aggro.
Do you even lift, bro?
Why melee? Being allowed to chuck spears and stuff would sorta soothe the pain of not being allowed to hurl my Axe like Rangers!
- Warrior
Do you even lift, bro?
Well, as I said, a lot of mobs tend to have their own little special aggro system in addition to the general aggro rules. That tends to fudge things up. Anyway, here’s all the aggro factors listed by the Wiki:
Proximity to the mob.
Attacking the mob.
Deals the most damage to the mob.
Using a Shield.
Has high Toughness/Armour
So logically, if you’re a D/D Elementalist being in melee range of a mob you’re most likely going to draw aggro based on proximity and doing a lot of damage.

Guild Wars’ style is a lot more realistic-looking; you only have the most Exotic weapons with a fancy fantasy look.
I like it.
Do you even lift, bro?
You shouldn’t go down anyway. I just mentioned it because it is funny.
Do you even lift, bro?
I don’t see where that’s an exploitable issue.
For one you could solo a lot of stuff you shouldn’t be able to by having them die from fall damage.
