For me personally, I used the Monthly Salvages only as a means to achieve the monthly within the first 48 hours.

Plus I rather liked salvaging like 400 things.

Unsuspecting fore should work on all CC not just stun, maybe reduce the amount of critical chance to 30+%

That would be rather overpowered. Axe/Shield with Bull’s Charge for a utility would trump most other builds.

Put faster weap swap as a minor trait elsewhere.

25 in Tactics, I think.

Bump up numbers on Dogged March ( went in right direction imo)

Can’t really do that without breaking the everloving crap out of WvW. Currently, Dogged March with Superior Rune of Melandru and Bowl of Lemongrass Poultry Soup gives a total of -25% stun reduction, -98% on immobilize/cripple/chill and -65% on everything else.

And the Regeneration is fine as it is.

So when are you going to fix the problem with your Adrenal health giving more regeneration with 3 bars than 2? That makes no sense, considering that the 1 bar is weak with no healing power, but takes as little as 59 Healing Power for it to be superior to tkittenar version.

Also, I am pretty sure that Empowered Defenses would cause issues with Runes of Lyssa. That’d total Protection and 9 boons, for a total of 51% damage reduction.

Armored Attack
25: Defense
Weakened foes deal 10% damage to you.
5% of toughness is given as a bonus to power.

You’re going to need to clarify yourself on the wording. Please don’t tell me you mean that Weakness on a foe would mean they’d only deal 10% of their original damage (aka 90% reduction), because that’s kittened up.

I think it would depend on the rate, but if it was raised by .5% it still wouldn’t really matter since the rate is so low anyways. The legendaries are pretty much already a target in my eyes.

0.5%?

So 1 precursor for 200 kills?

Guess what, you just invented the best farming method in the game. Even if we’re talking a flat 0.5% chance to score some precursor, across all 20 Precursors, that’ll still put you at an average yield of 1.35 gold per kill.

I dont know the rates but im saying .5 of whatever it already is not .5 overall.

Well in that case you’re just talking nonsense.

After all, we all know that the odds are not exactly stellar. I’ve heard of about 1 case of a player supposedly getting a precursor in WvW. Considering that there much be thousands if not millions of kills in WvW a day, the fact that we’re not seeing 1 precursor pop up a day should tell you that the odds are very low.

And increasing those low odds by by 1/200 of what they already are? No one would ever notice the difference.

So a developer could just waltz in here and say “Yeah, it’s already there” and no one could dispute them.

Why make a suggestion that changes very little in the gameplay in a manner that no one would notice? That’s hardly any different from doing nothing.

Critical Chance

the window says that, but has anyone confirmed this in practice?
I guess you’d have to only have like 10 precision to get a 0.476% chance, then see if you ever get a critical hit.

Problem is you start out with 916 precision and 4% crit rate.

If you throw out the assumption that the game calculates with integers, you also have to throw out the assumption that we’re talking 4.00% and not, for example, 4.37%. In which case the first step would be to verify the base rate.

But honestly, whether it rounds down or not isn’t really going to change the game. Not only that, but it’s also pretty much impossible to definitively proof without a developer stating it or someone hacking the game files.

However, it was confirmed that the character menu uses rounded integers rather than exact decimals on the display. I would think that’s good enough. After all, if they did not round them, why bother displaying rounded numbers?

I’m in the same camp with sorudo and ExTribble.

My mouse runs at 1150 dpi and I have my mouse speed set to to about 1/4.

My set my mouse to be very very fast, like unusable fast (i.e if I just touch it the pointer will go from one end of the screen to the other) I want my camera rotation to speed to be very very fast, but it is slower than I’d like it. Definitely slower than other games I’ve played and I don’t even use the max camera rotation speed and max mouse speed for those games.

A few questions:

  1. Do you know what mouse you’re using?
  2. Do you know how much DPI your mouse has?
  3. Are you adjusting the sensitivity of the mouse pointer in Windows and/or with drivers associated with your mouse?
  4. Do you know whether your mouse has acceleration?

  2. I don’t think that’s ever going to happen. If you look at most builds, they’re very muchly balanced on the idea of exactly 70 traitpoints. Give them even 5 more and that’ll make certain builds absolutely broken. Give them even more than that and you’ll just have to nerf the crap out of everyone because they’re way too powerful now.
  3. There’s plenty of ingredients, recipes and skins out there already

As someone who does DPS-math as a hobby, I’m naturally biased against it.

For me personally, if the game offered a straight-up DPS number, I’d be bored. There would be no mystery. No fiddling with equations, tweaking things around. I’d be utterly bored with the mechanics of the game.

And I’ll be honest, the calculations that Guild Wars 2 BuildCraft does for you are exactly what you’re looking for. The Effective Power is as close as you’re ever going to get to a universal DPS figure. Any deeper and you run into having to factor in skill coefficients, in which case Guild Wars 2 Skills Build Editor is your best choice. It doesn’t give you straight up DPS numbers, but it gives you the actual tooltips with a lot of room to adjust.

So use GW2 Buildcraft to figure out the damage and the GW2 Skills editor to compare the skills directly.

That means that in a lot of cases, you’ll be prime target material. And it’s not because you’re an “easy kill”, but rather because WvW is a lot about numbers. Especially since there is no difference between a level 10 and a level 80 when they’re operating siege equipment.

No.

First off, it would require two things:

And naturally, they would have to have the option of selecting who gets to see their Facebook ID via Guild Wars 2. Otherwise we’re talking serious invasion of privacy, which isn’t exactly legal.

And with that, you would have to ask anyway, because let’s face it, how many people would link their in-game account to their Facebook, assuming the latter is not a dummy account?

Thus, your idea doesn’t work. So again, a no.

It makes no sense to make Mending a physical skill and there’s a simple reason for it:
Physical Training is in the Strength tree.

So all that you would do is make the zerk GS Warriors even stronger, as a lot of them already go 20/20/x/x/x to begin with.

After all, we’re talking about a healing that’s on a 20s cooldown and heals you for a consistent 11,120 and removes 2 conditions.

Also, I think bolas at 10s cooldown for a 1s Immobilize is a bit too strong, especially if coupled with Leg Specialist, a Shield, a Mace or a Hammer.

Tired of trying to get map completion and getting zerged all the time? If yes, i know that feeling.
straight to the point… my suggestion to help players not wanting to be part of combat.
neutrality buff- 30 min(maybe more) no combat buff (can be disabled whenever you choose)

pros
-those pesky zerg armies of players can’t harm you
-allow you to get into places that if you were reping your server you couldnt get into (without taking over it of course)
- easier time achieving map completion

Cons (for balance)
- weapon skills disabled
- NPCs will still attack (the un alligned creatures such as wolfs and kraits)
- Toll, if a guild has claimed a location your going into you must pay a fee based on your unscaled level: toll goes into the guild bank
- Map/team chat disabled: no spying while neutral (maybe guild chat while in WvW server since you can bypass map/team if your guild is there also)
- upon the expiration of the buff, your cannot re activate it until WvW reset (or daily)
-if you have commander unlocked: you cannot create a squad or have your symbol active on the map

other suggestions to pro/cons would be appreciated

(also, dont know if this was already suggested)

Not a good idea.

It would be used for spying, 100%. Even if you disable in-game chat, there is always voicechat that a lot of organized guilds run with.

And besides, with the most recent changes to WvW, they’re supposed to make it more random whether your server get green/blue/red, eliminating these issues. You’ll just have to give it some time.

Too much of acquiring a legendary right now is about random luck or spending money (which isn’t legendary proof of skill, just of a mighty deep wallet), or farming (which you’re penalized for farming after an hour or two with reduced drop rates anyways.

Well, I think that your perspective is a bit weird there.

The massive requirements and the wide arrangement of things you have to do makes sense if you just look at it from the right angle.

  • The Gift of Mastery is pretty much stuff that you’d expect from a “veteran player”. Lots of karma from doing tons of stuff, lots of skillpoints from playing that one character for a long time, having seen all the corners of the world and done a decent bit of WvW to boot.
  • The Gift of Fortune is a material-sink and a “luck” element combined
  • Icy Runestones are a gold/time sink
  • The weapon-specific Gifts throw in more “veteran player” stuff with crafting and dungeons

So from where I am standing, a Legendary that one has to make on their own looks like proof that the person has spend significant amount of time and has done significant amounts of content within the game.

Sadly, they made the Legendaries sellable on the TP, which kinda ruined it all.

gw2 might have the worst dungeon

in Fractals, Dungeons & Raids

Posted by: Olba.5376

Olba.5376

I’m going to get flamed for saying so, but when ANet did away with the trinity of tank, healer, dps, it made for a dull dungeon experience. Without tanks to soak up damage, and healers to keep everyone’s health bars topped off, dungeons are basically just zerg content. To keep a “level” playing field, that any profession can play in, they designed dungeons so every profession can withstand the damage mobs dish out, and gave us a dodge mechanic (which I love, btw) to avoid the big stuff.

I come from Perfect World International and I only played DDs there.

Let me tell you, it was not very much fun. In the early days, DDs were regarded as bottom of the barrel. The PUG picking order was always Tank>Healer>DDs, with the DDs being in order of level. The only way for a DD to circumvent that was to foot the bill for opening the dungeon, but as you might figure, there were tons of people doing that. It eventually devolved to a point where people were offering payment for tanks and healers.

It all changed with a single skill. That skill made tanks nearly obsolete, as it made it so that a good DD could heal themselves fast enough for them to be able to tank most things. The end result? All of the content turned into DD fests, where you had a healer, a bunch of DDs, and if lucky, a tank to do large pulls of mobs.

And all of that sucked.

1) Encourage people to skip trash mobs. They don’t drop anything worthwhile, and are really just annoying bottlenecks.

2) Encourage people to go full berserker and dps things down as fast as possible. If you dodge/avoid the big spikey attacks, then go back to dps-ing, the mob/boss dies faster, and does fewer big spikey attacks. DPS is king in this game.

3) Encourage people to find the dungeon paths that can be completed the fastest, and run them over and over. It’s simple risk vs. reward behavior.

4) Once people learn the mechanics of a particular boss or dungeon path, it gets repetitive (for example: when the boss does xyz, wait 1 second, then dodge, then go back to dps-ing). When content gets repetitive, people look for the fastest repetitive content to do for their rewards (loot, money, etc.), and skip the rest.

1) You could just make it so that you have to kill the trash mobs. Put in gates, make the bosses zerg the crap out of you if you don’t kill the trakitten’s been done before.

2) You could just make it so that instead of doing their big bad stuff after a certain HP percentage, they could throw them out regardless of their HP. Unless of course the attacks are tied to the lore behind the boss. Or you could throw in a mechanic that causes the boss to go berserk if it takes too much damage in a short period of time.

3) This is an issue with the players, not the game. You cannot really fix it, there will always be people who only do the thing that gives them the highest or most consistent coin-per-time stuff.

4) In the modern age, it’s really not possible to make boss encounters that would have mechanics that you could not learn. That’s the power of the internet and brute community force.

And honestly, the reason people gravitate to the easiest dungeon has a lot to do with the mechanics we have going on in the core game. You can get most stats with crafting, so the chance of having to do dungeons for stats is very minimal. That just leaves you with skins, but that’s a subjective matter.

There is no need to do anything other than the easiest, fastest thing. Because if you do that, you’ll get everything you want, unless one of the skins you want happens to be in one of the harder, slower places. And if there is no requirement to do the harder stuff, it just leaves the people who do it for the fun of it. And sadly, that’s a minority nowadays.

But at least it’s still a step ahead from being put on a treadmill that takes you through every single dungeon.

Olba.5376

And that’s a bad thing? There’s another topic here somewhere about how people have been buying precursors and then selling them for considerably higher prices. This laurel precursor merchant idea sets the tone for people to actually explore and play the game rather than play a single variation over and over, which will more evenly distribute players across zones, reducing overflow tension on some servers, and also allow players to interact with each other more for completing daily and monthly objectives.

Explore and play the game? I am pretty sure that you can the daily done on most days in WvW, especially now that you get 3 WvW options per day instead of 2.

Heck, I have gotten my daily and monthly in Orr and WvW without touching other zones at all.

Consider dynamic events. In a few zones, more challenging dynamic events including veterans or champions are ignored because they’re not ‘worth’ doing. Add in precursors for laurels along with a dynamic event category for daily achievements and suddenly you have a lot more people running around participating in the 1500+ dynamic events that the team worked hard to create.

Yeah, that would work great, except that Penitent and Shelter also spawn Champions and are much more consistent than hunting for Champions elsewhere. I know that whenever I see “Daily Champion Slayer”, I always go to Orr.

Empowered Defenses
25: Tactics.
Remove a condition when granting regeneration to yourself or an ally. (Cool down: 5s )

I dunno about this, considering that Inspiring Battle Standard gives a permanent Regeneration.

And I think that you would rage if Dogged March procced this and removed Cripple/Chilled/Immobilize.

Enduring Adrenaline
15: Tactics
Gain a small amount of endurance (5 out of 100.) when you gain a strike of adrenaline.

This would be crazy with any of our multihit attacks, especially with Furious:

  • 100 Blades for 40/80% endurance
  • Volley for 25/50% endurance
  • Whirling Axe for 75-100% endurance
  • Flurry for 40-100% endurance

15: Defense
Regenerate health based on adrenaline level.
1 bar: heals 80 + (0.8 * Healing Power) per second
2 bar: heals 100 + (0.1 * Healing Power) per second
3 bar: heals 120 + (0.12 * Healing Power) per second

I have to say no to this. Throw up a full Healing Power Warrior and your numbers end up as 1200/240/288 hp/s.

Also, I hope it’s a typo, because it doesn’t really make sense that 3 bars heals for more than 2. Especially not if your hope is to make people use their Adrenaline.

Also, I think your numbers need revising otherwise as well. 15 into Defense means you have a base of 150 healing. So that puts it at 200/115/138 hp/s.

Destruction of the Empowered
Grandmaster trait, discipline tree.
Deal 3% bonus damage per boon on your target.
Heal yourself per hit, per unique boon on the target.

At level 80, the amount healed per boon is 49 + 0.01 * Healing Power

This means if the target has 3 boons, you heal for 150 every time you attack him.

This would make multihit attacks way too powerful against someone who has a lot of boons. Zero healing power, full adrenaline Flurry for 5,292 hp? That would doom anyone who happens to use Save Yourselfs or Runes of Lyssa.

Still it issnt insane much when you convert max 3 conditions to a boon on full adrenaline.

It is a lot when you consider that other powerful condition removals include dodgerolling to remove 1 (1 condition/5 or 10 seconds) or removing 1 condition for every 3 seconds in stealth, both of which are far inferior to what you’re suggesting.

Because as long as you can stick to your target, filling that 3 bars in 10 seconds is easy. Heck, with Burst Mastery, you’re talking filling 2 bars in 8 seconds, which is even easier. For example, consider Axe/X with Furious and Sharpened Axes. With some precision, that thing is going to get 15-18 strikes of Adrenaline for a single auto-attack chain, which takes 3.6 seconds. Also, consider other multihit skills, like Axe 5 or Flurry. Furious with Flurry and Burst Mastery means you fill the bar the moment you use it, if you have high enough crit rate.

And honestly, I don’t think it would fix the burst usage. It’s not like people aren’t using them already. They just don’t use the burst on a GS, they use it an Axe, a Hammer, a Rifle or a Sword.

Not being balanced around 1v1 is just fine. However, there are both right and wrong ways to do that.

And discussing 1v1s is just fine. And again, there’s right and wrong ways to do that. Honestly, I don’t think that repeating “learn to play” over and over again is the right way to do that. Because there are things which you can teach, so “l2p” is really just being a lazy kitten.

Personally, I have two level 80 characters. A warrior and a thief and I have about 400 hours on the Warrior and 200ish on the Thief. My personal experience playing a thief is that it’s pretty hard to do right. D/D doesn’t work too well if your opponent knows that CnD has very short range. D/P works well, but it takes a ton of traits and it punishes bad play by leaving you like a fish out of water.

I have played PvP in other games that obviously lacked balance. In Diablo 2, I specialized playing a Barbarian-vs-Caster, which meant that it was literally impossible for me to beat a Barbarian-vs-Barbarian. In Perfect World International, I played an Assassin, who many considered nearly impossible to defeat in 1v1, until they released gear that gave everyone the defense to defend against it, along with a significant increase in power.

The situation with Thieves is nothing like that. Most classes can beat a thief, as long as you play well. And honestly, the existence of an “easy mode” character is also good, as that gets people introduced into the PvP aspect of the game.

And hey, it’s not like ANet isn’t doing stuff to Thieves. They heavily toned down the one-shotting potential with the change to Mug. And honestly, CnD shouldn’t be nerfed on account of Backstab, since the former is an offhand while the former is a mainhand skill. As for Backstab, it’s a melee range high damage skill on a class that has crap-for-armor and crap-for-hp.

So wait… you’re suggesting an F2 skill that gives our F1 skill condition wiping?

I am not sure that it would balance out properly. For example, how would it interact with Burst Mastery? Because if they worked perfectly in sync, you’re talking 2 bars of adrenaline for 3 conditions on an 8s cooldown. That would be pretty much the best condition removal in the whole game.

Similarly, what about Healing Surge? Why would anyone choose Mending if you could get this new thing and Healing Surge? After all, it’s more HP and more conditions wiped.

And heck, just Axe/X with high enough crit rate and some adrenaline traits could be ridiculous in terms of conditions. You have to consider that we would still have Dogged March and access to Melandru runes and Lemongrass Poultry Soup.

And why would we need 1s evade on Burst? I’ll admit that it would make sense with Eviscerate and Earthshaker, but how the hell do you explain getting Evade on Flurry or Kill Shot, both of which are painfully stationary?

And honestly, the Signet of Might active with Evade sounds like all kinds of broken. Throw in Shield Bash for good measure and it’ll be happy times.

If you could get it guaranteed after 10, it wouldn’t really count as “rare”.

I will have you know that I picked my armor of choice exactly because of the asymmetry.

But I would have nothing against adding in more armor skins, some with symmetric designs.

Slashing Power never had anything to do with swords nor crit chance.

And as far as I know, Blademaster never showed in the character infos.

It gives 3 seconds of Fury/5 Might/Swiftness every 3 seconds for 30 seconds.

This way its harder to steal.

If you’re going to do that, you’re going to have to do similar things for Rampage As One and Dagger Storm.

Which brings me to me second point: Look at those two. I think we have it easy, considering that it’s a set of 3 buffs for 30s on a 60s cooldown.

And my only question: How would boon duration affect it? Would it affect the 3s pulses or the 30s duration? In the former case, it would cause some issues if you stacked lots of Boon Duration and Might Duration.

Do this for all engg elixirs too!

I think not. They’re not elites, so then you would have to make all boons function that way. Which would make the boon stealing mechanic useless.

Rampage as one yes.

Dagger Storm maybe, its so short it shouldn’t matter.

However I believe elites should have effects like this.

The thing is, you can completely neutralize Dagger Storm by stealing the Stability. A lot of Thieves use Dagger Storm to get the stability and then dodge roll to cancel the animation.

In my case, it’s Silk Scrap. It can only be sold for a loss on the TP and even then there’s millions of sell orders.

thieves can still use that & weapon swap to their op toys

They could, but that would hinder their mobility. And that’s something most Thieves won’t risk. And it’s not like Cloak and Dagger is cheap either.

Well you would have to make sure that it does not apply to non-aggressives. Because let’s face it, the last thing we need is people getting precursors off of Moas. Or Frogs.
