Combine condition traits into one trait line

in Warrior

Olba.5376

If the warrior build is not focused towards a condition damage build then all these bonus stats are basically wasted…but a dps warrior needs power and precision. so why can’t these two be tied into one trait line?

Power and Precision cannot be in the same traitline simply because they’re both Primary Attributes.

And let’s be serious for a moment. The primary condition of a condition warrior is Bleeding. And 10 points into Arms gets you +50% bleeding duration. That, along with easy access to +40% from foods makes the +condition duration% from trait lines useless, since it’s capped at 100%.

And you seem to be forgetting something. Condition duration affects all conditions, including Cripples, Weakness and Immobilize. Regardless of whether you build condition or power, those are major conditions.

And honestly, take a look at the potential Secondary Attributes. Condition Damage, Condition Duration, Healing Power, Boon Duration and Critical Damage. Out of those, none would compliment Power. Healing Power and Boon Duration are defensive attributes and Critical Damage goes best with Precision. Leaves you with Condition Damage and Condition Duration.

The only traitline that people go into for the points themselves is the last one with the Recharge Primary Attributes. This is because everything else can and will be gotten from gear, but you cannot get those recharges from elsewhere. And even then, it’s often secondary to the Major Traits that they get from those lines.

Having 70 traits points is already bad since the total is 150. And then having to go with wasted stats is even worst….

Actually, 70 trait points is a very balanced choice. Any less and you end up with traits not being as build-defining as they should be. Any more and you end up with god mode. And if you think not so, just take a look at the traits a Thief would get with a 0/30/30/20/0 setup, e.g. a setup with a mere 80 points. Hell, just consider a 30/20/0/0/30 Warrior. Or a 0/0/20/30/30 Ele.

Focus of 2013: Get rid of zerker builds

Except that no gear in the game improves CC. So even if you could CC a boss, the guy doing it might as well be full zerk too to improve his DPS. Especially considering a CCed boss cannot attack at all.

Well, technically speaking there are runes and sigils that improve CC. Pretty sure that’s not a part of the “zerker setup”.

It’s relevant because it invalidates your comparison, and if you know direct damage scales better than condi damage, then why argue that flurry’s damage can keep pace with eviscerate if, in most builds, that isn’t true?

Because the problem isn’t that Eviscerate is somehow overpowered and Flurry is weak. It’s that condition damage is weaker than direct damage.

On top of that, you don’t even know how much power or condition damage was used to generate those numbers.

The answer is bare minimum, as per the formatting standard set on the wiki.

And it’s not like I do not possess the mathematical know-how to reverse the in-game tooltips to manually calculate the skill coefficients off of my own warrior.

Just because you haven’t bothered to find out how they write the wiki doesn’t mean it’s all an unknown blur. Or that you would need the wiki in the first place.

And let’s be honest for a moment: Swords do not need a burst that is capable of Eviscerate-level direct damage, as both Eviscerate and Final Thrust have a 3.0 coefficient.

There is no “base damage”. Damage done = (weapon damage) * Power * (skill-specific coefficient) / (target’s Armor)

Skill coefficients are how they control the damage of individual skills.

True in practice, but that’s a rather irrelevant point.

After all, there are minimum values to power and armor, not to mention relevancy criteria for the weapon damage. For example, pretty much all skill editors won’t even have the option to use a rare weapon. Similarly, there’s not much point considering armor values below 1836, since that’s the minimum possible value of someone with full exotic armor.

Though in my case, I was simply referring to the standardized values that I picked from the wiki. And I was simply bringing up the point that the skills themselves have similar damage, it’s just that direct damage scales much better than condition damage.

On the other hand, you’re very likely to spend that much on waypointing on a daily basis.

There’s also the fact that the 30/25/0/0/15 that you’re running is an “adrenaline maintain” type build, rather than an “adrenaline use” type build. That is to say that you won’t be using Eviscerate.

That makes Axe #4 rather useless, as you won’t be benefitting from the extra adrenaline gain of the multiple hits. Same is true for Axe #5.

And from a team perspective, the Fury on Axe #4 is wasted because you should already have permanent Fury. Not to mention that in comparison, Mace #4 will always provide 4% overall damage to the whole team.

I don’t think that’s going to happen.

Currently, the coefficient for a full 100 blades is 5.5. On the other hand, Whirling Axe is a 3.0. Double that and it becomes the next 100 Blades. Not a good idea, especially considering the easy access to Eviscerate or Final Thrust, which are both very damaging skills in their own right.

Also, in PvP, it currently has a coefficient of 4.5. Double that and it’ll be 9.0.

Honestly, I think it would make Sword/Axe deal a bit too much damage.

The game was designed so that everyone would be useful in a party, so your elitist has no “right” to discriminate like that.

I would love to see some proof for this claim.

Anyway, cheerleader lfg Arah p4 or fotm 48+. WSP ME I’M PRETTY!!!

The fact that we don’t have a trinity isn’t a proof enough for you? The fact that every class is designed to be useful and fun at all times?

Actually there is an intended trinity, DPS-Support-CC, elements of which are present in every class (some better than others at certain ones). Sure every class CAN be useful but, again, “cheerleader lfg” and suddenly your broad claims of anybody can run however they want disappear. Just because a class CAN be useful doesn’t mean the person running it is doing so appropriately.

And by that you of course suggest that only zerker/mesmer groups are viable?

No.

Don’t be ridiculous – mesmers should be wearing zerker gear too!
He didn’t say that at all… where are you getting that from? The point is that we want to make sure someone isn’t running a cheerleader build. To give a real example, I don’t mind if you’re running soldier’s, knight’s, or zerker’s on your guardian… just so long as it’s not carrion or explorer’s or something. If you have a legitimate argument for running those stats though, I’m willing to hear it. However, if someone wearing PVT gear says they’re in full zerker’s (or vice versa), I think they’re in the wrong for joining a group under false pretences.

You have no “right” to make sure that someone isn’t running a cheerleader build, and the game shouldn’t support your desire to do so, because it’s against the principles on which the game is built.

These people are not in the wrong for joining any group under any pretences, because making such restrictions is “in the wrong” in the first place.

Now you’ll go and make them anyway, but don’t expect to be assisted in it by the devs.

You’re letting the guy in MF gear stomp all over the same rights of the serious dungeon runners. Why does he have the right to be carried and they don’t have the right to protect their time and effort against what is essentially fraud and scamming? You’re playing favourites with the bads either because you are one or you’re a troll.

Here’s a question: What if this “MF guy” was wearing full Celestial gear instead? Would he still be “carried”?

For your convenience, here’s the same Warrior in full Celestial, full Zerker and full MF gear:

For the record, I’ve long advocated for a longer development cycle to foster quality content (concepts) and code, do believe combat could use some work, and would like to see vertical progression removed from the game. I’m not sure I would want to play with all those people wanting to play the game.

I would think that we’re going to get that quality now that they’re improving the Living Story developers.

Colin said that they have a total of 4 teams that rotate, each team getting 2 releases in a month to release their content. This in turn would mean that each team is actually getting 3 months to develop their 1 month of content. That’s not so bad.

Even then, 510 points is a bit high. As ExTribble pointed out, there is already an achievement for certain quantities of runs. And contrast those with the amounts of AP the OP suggested and you’ll see that they’re way over the top.

Honestly, I much prefer the current way of doing things over what some other MMOs do.

For example, I come from Perfect World. In there, the only content updates you would get came with expansions. Other than the expansions, there were “events” that usually happened rarely or on a holiday. So all you would really do is grind around the same old stuff and wait for the expansion, which most likely brought a new area (that wasn’t necessarily profitable to grind in) and possibly some new races.

To me, the temporary content, while it might be short, makes the world alive. I don’t even do most of the content. But just knowing and seeing the changes that come make the world feel alive. Which I believe was the whole point behind Living Story.

GW1 had tons of skills to choose from.

The problem with that was that even with variety, people still found the best builds. And with more skills, the game gets harder and harder for a newbie to enter into. And you really do not want to make a game where the newbies feel overwhelmed.

Before GW2, I played Perfect World. And in there, they had about 40ish skills per character. The problem was that pretty much all of the starter skills never scaled properly and a lot of the higher level skills were useless in PvE. Generally, each character had maybe 10 skills that they used, including 1-3 buffs per character.

And honestly, in a lot of games, you might have a septillion skills to use, but what you’re actually doing in combat is rotating macros consisting of specific skills. And let’s be honest, if you’re using 5 macros of 5 skills, you’re not really using 25 skills, you’re using 5.

Also, Guild Wars 2 is not a traditional MMO.

But you can stack those a bit:

Is there a limit to how many you can stack? It would be a bit ridiculous to go around with something like +500 xp on kills!

All the items I mentioned stack with each other, according to the wiki.

You cannot stack the same item though, that will just refresh the duration on the buff.

You’re only stunning one person and you intend to pop Frenzy? Ouch.

and burst mastery doesnt even effect whirling axe. so your point isn’t valid. burst mastery is for having full adrenaline more often, and it sets you up for when you switch to rifle to use that burst afterward if you need to.

My point was that Burst Mastery isn’t that good if you’ve got a skill that is on a 20s cooldown.

And that is the big difference between Whirling Axe and 100 Blades. The latter is on a 8s cooldown, whereas the former is 20s. There’s a big difference.

Unsuspecting Foe… and yet you have 48% crit chance without it. Talk about fail. Signet of Fury is only going to cover you 2/3 of the time. Assuming no one is there to remove it from you.

Also, I don’t think it’s going to work too well. Firstly because the channeling of the skill is longer than the 3s stun you get. Secondly because Whirling Axe is on a 20s cooldown, thus making your Burst Mastery rather wasted. Thirdly, you’ll get your kitten handed to you if a team mate appears to stun the crap out of your whirl.

"Achievement Collectors"

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Honestly, the achievements have been there to annoy the compulsive hoarders since the beginning.

First we had the icons. I still remember people complaining about how Legendaries were supposedly “mandatory” because the icon in the menu was “taunting” you to get it.

Then we get the leaderboards. Naturally, there are people who play games to get and stay on leaderboards. That’s not a bad thing, really. It’s a personal progression, the developers don’t have to do much at all for it. In this case, all they have to do is attach a point system to exploring the Living Story content.

Finally, the achievement rewards attracted people who were previously not hoarding those points. And of course, that made the impulse even stronger on the previous hoarders.

Honestly, if you ask me, I say let them be. It’s better that they get their “progression” than have them complain about lack of raids or treadmills or whatnot.

I also don’t think that too many people are going to start hoarding the points if they didn’t already do that. At least not for extended periods of time. I can totally see someone going for 5,000 if they’re at 4,000, or going for 10,000 if they’re at 7,000. But I can’t see someone who’s at 2,356 going for 25,000 just for the rewards.

  1. What do you think it should come down to?
  2. If you read up someone has posted that if 2 warriors currently do impale at the same target at the same time. It does not stack and only 1 warrior can do rip. So I am saying that this debuff to denote a target has impale needs to have a stack function.
  3. In all the testing I have done, I haven’t seen Flurry do the kind of damage eviscerate can do. But if people have tested it and say that it gets close then it doesn’t need to change does it. I don’t see why eviscerate has such a short range (300) for what is ment to be a powerful burst skill. Yet Greatsword gets 100b for stupid damage on low cooldown, rush (1200) and blade trail (900). But that is talk for another topic. This one is discussing changes to Sword/Sword. You can just break out of immobilize anyway.
  4. I don’t see a problem with it giving might on crit, mighty defense is in the first tier of the discipline tree and it would give the same result. Also If you want to spec into triple adrenaline on crits so be it. That’s already a thing people can do. Furthermore Unless they change flurry to be able to channel on the move I don’t see a problem with it having immobilize on it. Ranged glasses don’t have to move to channel attacks and still get a hit. Why not give us that buffer and allow us a higher chance of landing something powerfull while our utilities are on cooldown.
  1. Looking at the other sword skills, 10-12s sounds about right.
  2. Oh, didn’t know about that. Still don’t see the point of adding a stun to it, though. Not to mention that Stuns don’t stack anyway.
  3. Well, on base, Flurry and Eviscerate have similar-ish damage. The numbers get in favor of Eviscerate when you consider things like Berserker’s Power, crits and high amounts of Vulnerability. That and the fact that monsters in PvE seem to have craptastic armor values.
  4. Well, the problem is that with triple adrenaline gain, Flurry becomes just as spammable as 100 blades. Flurry also has 12 hits rather than 9, not to mention benefitting from the +10% crit trait if you spec for it. I just don’t see any way how adding 100% chance to get might on crit would not make Swords deal ridiculous physical damage. Especially when you consider that Final Thrust is already pretty high damage. For example, I could totally see someone pulling off Savage Leap>Flurry>Final Thrust. That would cause some pretty serious damage, especially if you throw in Frenzy to speed up Flurry and Final Thrust.

Olba.5376

Our heals is what needs to be looked at.

Um what!

You can heal with Healing Surge 8,5k hp, that is one of the best healskill in this game.
Ok it has an cd of 30, but on the other hand have you the best base hp (after necro) and more as enough skill to reduce incoming dmg to 0.

It also has no profitable side effect as to get the 8440 heal, you already need to be at full adrenaline, thus making the adrenaline recharge moot.

Now for comparison, we have the following:

  • Signet of Resolve has an excellent passive, almost equal base healing, all for a measly 10s increase in cooldown. And it scales better with Healing Power, to boot.
  • Consume Conditions which is kinda like our Mending, except with better condition removal, better effect and better overall heals.

  1. 100 blades makes you stand still and a huge target… If people are standing in it then the warrior deserves that healing he gets.
  2. What about axe 5 for warrior?
  3. This is why I said “3 times every second.” It would bring balance without completely destroying it like it is now.
  1. Yeah and that has never been a problem in PvE. Healing with multihit skills, on the other hand, has been a problem in PvE.
  2. Yeah, that falls under the “multihit” part.
  3. 3 times per second is still way too much. Consider Omnomberry Ghost, for example. It’s 341 HP each time. 3 times per second and we’re talking 1,023 hp/s healing. I am pretty sure you know that this would amount to more than triple the average that a Warrior gets out of their healing skill. And that’s too much.

I’ll be honest with you, I would be all for making sigil/food able to proc multiple times on an AoE hit. But allowing them to proc multiple times per second is just screaming for abuse with skills that hit multiple times per second.

2 – Savage Leap
When in combination with an offhand sword increase it’s leap distance to 750

The leap already travels up to 900 units. I don’t really see any reason to change that.

3 – Final Thrust
We all know how kitten the animation is on this, so that needs a change. With it’s current cooldown it should have 1/2 second cast time. Otherwise reduce it to 10 seconds and keep the 3/4s cast, 100b (gs2) 8s(6s traited) and whirlwind (gs3) gets to be 10 second(8 seconds traited) why shouldn’t this be lower?

Pretty sure the 15s cooldown is a remnant from Hamstring, which was in place due to the 8s Cripple. I could see the cooldown coming down a bit.

4.2 – Rip
Change name to R.I.P. Skill is now a leap finisher gap closer with 900 range with a 1/4s stun. Make it a cool animation like take a couple of steps and then leap at the target. Also make this a stackable non cleansable debuff so that more then one warrior can skill on same target. A fast animation needs to be used.

I don’t quite get what you’re saying here. First you say a 1/4s stun, then you talk about some “non-cleanseable debuff, stackable” debuff. So which is it? A new debuff or a stun?

F1 – Flurry
Include the offhand sword in the animation. Increase damage maybe close to eviscerate due to being able to attack with more hits in the same amount of time. Think of 100b but a dual sword flurry.

Eviscerate has a base damage of 672/840/1008 depending on Adrenaline. Flurry has a base melee damage of 256, along with a base of 680/850/1,020 damage. As far as I can count, it looks like Flurry already has superior damage.

Arms:
Blade Master (VIII)
Gain might on critical hits when sword in offhand equip. Sword skills recharge 20% faster.

I don’t like this. Firstly because it gives any MH weapon might on crits, making it pretty much mandatory, just like Forceful Greatsword. Secondly because Flurry with Furious results in pretty much gaining all of your adrenaline back and being a 12 hit attack. And unlike 100 blades, Flurry comes with an Immobilize.

I like the idea that Sword/Sword should be improved, but not like this.

Make all classes 15k HP.

Can we have it where “This item can only proc 3-5 times a second?” It would make the food viable without making AOE spam-able attacks ridiculous.

There are only two cases where you can even get that many hits. First being multihit skills like 100 Blades and Pistol Whip. Second is AoEs.

And let’s face it, the reason they have cooldowns on lifesteal food and sigils is because it allowed for zerkers to heal ridiculous amounts.

And I’ll be honest, I think that Superior Sigil of Earth without a cooldown would be ridiculously powerful with a Sword warrior, especially if they happened to roll Sword/Axe.

Also, multihit skills with high crit rate would mean that sigils like Nullification need cooldowns or they end up being used as full boon wipes.

They’re not just going to un-nerf something that was clearly overpowered.

In the current game, for runes and such the internal cool-downs just make skills like this worthless, its better just to go things like -conditon duration or other things, this stuff was good because it added a lot of “Hey I can melee and live a bit.” where now everyone just stands at ranged.

Oh come on. People still use plenty of on-crit sigils. Fire, Air and Earth are all rather popular.

I believe the proc-rates melee to ranged should also be changed, melee attacks should have 3x the proc rates as ranged.

Yeah so that melees can CC and spam a multihit skill to totally decimate their foes. Good plan.

  6. Stigma of Blood

Let me just start off by saying that giving Thieves Signets that do multiple things is never going to happen. There are other classes with Signets too, you know.

  1. So you want to give every single Thief out there a free 180 Power? Not gonna happen. And honestly I don’t quite understand the active. A clone that mirrors the exact actions of the player? That’s not possible to do. A clone that has the same skillpool as the character, using those skills at random? Boring.
  2. The active is very overpowered, especially considering that Thieves already lack cooldowns.
  3. The passive ability wouldn’t work. Think Shadow Refuge and other sources of stealth stacking.
  4. A trait that adds Protection or Stability to Shadow Refuge? Nah, that’s a bit too powerful, considering that SR pulses the effect, making it linger after the field is gone.
  5. Mesmers already got portals. And random location within 10,000 units would result in bugs like porting people into walls or cliffs or simply midair.
  6. Bad, bad idea. If a Warrior smacks you with Flurry for 12+ stacks of Bleed, you would get how much Protection? What about classes that have minor traits that give bleed on crit, while they themselves might not be build for condi damage, like Warriors?

And medium armor..its does fit war theme more than heavy

Now that would be a wonderful way to kitten off a crapton of people.

But honestly I wouldn’t want that. The only medium armor set that I find to be to my liking was Pirate, which I already got in full on my Thief. And even that doesn’t look good with most dyes.

You don’t understand what multiplicative stacking means.

40% food, 25% runes duration reduction:

Additive: 1 – (0.4 + 0.25) = 0.35 so a 65% reduction
Multiplicative: (1 – 0.4)(1 – 0.25) = 0.45 equals 55% reduction

Lets take it to extremes (unfortunately available in the game):
40% food, 25% runes, 33% trait duration reduction:

Additive: 1 – (0.4 + 0.25 + 0.33) = 0.02 so a 98% reduction
Multiplicative: (1 – 0.4)(1 – 0.25)(1 – 0.33) = 0.30 so a 70% reduction

Oh come on.

I was talking about the way +condition duration% interacts with -condition duration%. You completely ignored that and proceeded to make some unrelated point. And I lack understanding?

My point is the following:

  • With additive stacking of durations, +40% condition duration is equal to -40% duration.
  • With multiplicative stacking, the above is not true, as it would result in a total of -16% condition duration

  1. Because they can sell the books. They can’t sell NPC conversations.
  2. Because people are more likely to read a book than read tons of NPC conversation / watch tons of cutscenes
  3. Because the book doesn’t make people complain nearly as much as tons of cutscenes / NPC dialogue would
  4. Because writing a book takes less effort than scripting the same book, voice acting it and animating all the characters and locations relating to it

Trust me, when I do that, I love it. Not least because Kill Shot has an obvious and long animation that you should be able to interrupt easily.

You know, on a forum I once went to, there was this guy who referred to himself in third person and talked as though he was a panda.

So really, talking in Harry Potter lingo is a bit yesterday. Especially since it’s popular with kids. And since I watched the last movie on bluray just yesterday. See what I did there, Harry?

So according to Gaile using a macro for auto-looting, opening loot; is considered “playing faster”. I’m sorry, but who in the hell considers looting and opening items playing? Seriously.

You’re still doing something in their game. That is playing the game.

I understand it’s a necessary mechanic in the game because items going directly to the player’s bags is a burden on the server resources at the moment, but what “skill” is exactly involved in clicking the loot button hundreds of times, if not thousands?

Since when was playing a game a question of “skill”?

If AoE looting is any indication of where they’d like to go, this would not be a big deal; and according to the players I know that use them to open the thousands of bags when they are burning karma items, or when running around in WvW in zergs it isn’t.

They did put a cooldown on the AoE looting. So your indication isn’t necessarily valid when judged in light of the current evidence.

TL;DR Act professional, don’t hide behind vague rules and subjective interpretations, and be reasonable.

They have to be vague and subjective. Otherwise they pretty much end up with a “How To Automate Guild Wars 2” guidebook.

Making my keyboard click for me

It’s illegal.

It ticks the boxes on:

  • Allowing you to play when you’re not on your computer
  • Allowing you to gain undeserved rewards (the achievement)
  • Gives you multiple actions per single keystroke

Quote from the topic that you linked:

You cannot program an “auto-clicker” macro that, for instance, opens chests while you play elsewhere.

1) I disagree. I have to keep moving the mouse to use the different stacks of drinks. I can’t go anywhere.
2) I’m pretty sure if I spend 700,000 karma and sit and my computer going through all the drinks I deserved it. I just don’t think my hand deserves the agony.
3) This one I agree with. I had misread the section this was in, thinking it only applied to multiboxing.

1) That’s irrelevant, as you can still get the full stack of items used without being anywhere near your PC. That’s why it ticks the box.
2) That makes no sense and you should know that. You obviously do not deserve to get an achievement for doing nothing. Not to mention that the exact parameters of “undeserved” are up to the developers, not the players.

The quote I don’t believe applies to this situation either. I am doing nothing else, it’s not allowing me to gain an advantage or do something I couldn’t otherwise do, and I’m certainly not playing elsewhere.

You’re choosing not to do anything else. You could very easily go around to explore the map or do jumping puzzles.

I doubt that they will ever release a race change item.

The race change item probably won’t get released because there is no way to fix the personal story. Resetting it makes no sense, because then you would be able to farm the rewards. Not resetting it would cause a crapton of bugs, not to mention that it would be akin to the developers admitting that their storylines aren’t worth your time.

Also note that the +15% crit chance buff from Heightened Focus is inaccurate. I’m fairly convinced its still +9% as it was originally if it even buffs you at all (Effect doesn’t display on the stat page and the supposed crit rate boost is more of a placebo effect.)

Is you conviction based on a gut feeling? Or have you actually been in a situation where you did not crit when you should have?

Because if you ask me, testing a hypothesis like yours isn’t too easy. Granted, you can always go to sPvP and smack around things with 86-90% crit rate and get within a 99.999% confidence or something, but whether that’s conclusive proof is up to debate.

I just tried that in PvP. 65% critchanche + fury + HF = 100%, but you won’t crit always. Bug Wars 2

Just to clarify, you did your test with full adrenaline, right?

does bleed dmg get rounded?

in Players Helping Players

Olba.5376

Does it round up all the time or down a .4?

It rounds down at 0.4. I also observed that it rounds down at 0.5. So my conclusion would be that the rounding is standard mathematical rounding, e.g. 0.5 or above is rounded up, everything else down.

I don’t see how you couldn’t just test this out yourself in game.

That is exactly what I did.
