Yeah. Sos is trying to camp NN with 3 stacks of buttlust while outmanning us. No one is going to fight you. That’s why most people left. Also, I heard you had like a billion vs outmanned an hour ago.
They had a full que, we had 4 people, Me, Mord, Mfer and some dood on an uplevel, Alamo up in this kitten. W/E the match is decided, it’s friday. It’s lion guild, they pile on people coming through the portal 4 to 1 because they dont have enough individual skill to beat even numbers.
You geniuses do the same thing to our early NA/afternoon. Karma trains happen because it’s easier/more rewarding. How many times did you see SoS come on here and complain about losing t3 keeps; especially to the Ram bug when patch hit? None. Grow some balls and move on. Complaining about being outmanned at certain time of day is getting old. Stop being a kitten. Outside of Ark/VR/PYRO I haven’t seen any organized play from other guilds this week. Good luck in your draw next week.

When I first started playing a LB warrior I was very happy with pin down since it is a fast-casting ability with a fast travel time. It seemed very reliable to me. But on some nights, and quite lately almost every night I am getting some ridiculous OOR and obstructed messages on the ability. So much so where it seems to fail almost 50% of the time, even in situations like the short clip below.
Is anyone else experiencing this to this extent?

Why do you bother man? This is the exact same reason that ascended gear should never have been allowed into WvW as well but there’s no chance on hell of that being undone. So can’t I see why you would have any faith in them reverting the orb nonsense either.

Well, I actually agree with a lot of PAXA’s positions if not always the attitude. This Orb thing is really bad though, because it takes away the incentive to play for me (and people like me) even if I’m up three orbs. In fact, I have zero incentive to have even number fights when I’m up three orbs. Zero, none.
Food, stacks, and gear I view differently since they are things you can have if you put the effort into it. You really don’t have personal control over whether you have the Orb buffs or not.

First, let me say that the new terrain in the middle of the maps is excellent. Awesome job there Anet. You really put a lot of thought into the map design.
Now, with that said. The Orb buffs will ruin WvW for small man fights.
The stat gain is significant for 1v1s, but for 5v5s it is even more of a problem because it is a force multiplier. Good 5v5 teams focus targets. So, if a side has all three orbs their focus target is taking the extra damage from the stats from all of the players targeting him. This is leading to some damage spikes that are just way over the top.
Small man fighting is all about managing your health by going offensive and defensive depending on positioning and who is getting focused. But, now when facing good groups who have good builds and know how to focus target the incoming damage can not be managed or in a best case scenario puts you at a huge disadvantage. The worst case scenario being that you just get blown up.
Now, let’s flip that around. Any good and serious small man out there plays for the challenge. THEY DO NOT WANT AN ARTIFICIAL ADVANTAGE OVER THEIR OPPONENTS. Let me say that again, because it is important and it seems to be something that a lot of game developers don’t understand about us. WE DO NOT WANT AN ARTIFICIAL ADVANTAGE WHEN FIGHTING OUR OPPONENTS.
You see, you are not only ruining the fight for the side that has no Orbs… you are also ruining the fight for the side that has all three Orbs. The reason for this is because they want to know that they just won the fight because they outplayed their opponent not because they had some kind of bullkitten Orb buff.
Bottom line: New terrain is awesome, keep it. Orb buffs are horrible. Replace them with something meaningful that helps the realm win the matchup but doesn’t interfere with open field fighting.

I have to ask, is the thief the most dangerous class in the game right now?
I know these days, I actually prefer seeing a thief over a necro, engi, warrior or guardian. If they D/P, I just ignore them because frankly they have little chance to kill me.
The problem is when you can totally outplay a person but they can practically disengage and reset the fight at will. Thieves can do this and mobility warriors can do this. Both are stupid and should have never been allowed to happen.
A necro, engi, and a guardian don’t have a very good chance of escaping a fight they are going to lose. There is much higher risk running solo with those classes than there is for a thief or a cheese-mobility warrior.
and some classes are way better at bunker condition build and some classes are better at group support and some classes are better in large scale fights, should they not be allowed? Should we make all the classes the same?
Tankiness and health will only let you live so long when you find yourself in a 1v4. Reusable stealth (thief) and reusable mobility (warrior) don’t run out. Which would you rather be playing when jumped by four players? A bunker condition build with no stealth or mobility or something that can actually get away?
Of course, I’m talking about pure PvP here, not the objective-based PvP that people have been fooled into thinking is real PvP.
And, again… not every class should be the same. But, everything a class can do should have a counter somewhere. That actually means more class diversity, not less.

It’s okay to be overpowered in WvW since it’s really not PvP (even though players fight each other). Problem? LOL grind or buy them.
It seems that doubling down may be the best solution to this problem. Roll a condi-bunker build and join the team. If enough players migrate to it, they will probably nerf it.
And they will make some nice coin as people buy gems to retool their characters! They don’t make money off of sPvP since the gear is set and free. Hence, OP stuff is put into WvW so people feel compelled to drop some coin to compete.

In Anet’s game design there is a huge risk in stacking… have you seen what happens to a pug zerg running into a tower with a few superior AC’s? It’s there, they designed it, you can’t really complain that there isn’t a counter to stacking when 10 can defend a structure against 50 if they don’t stand on the walls staring at people. What most people are looking to do is open field fight but Anet has already made it clear that isn’t really their intention with the game type (probably because it makes the servers crap their pants) so yeah, wvw isn’t designed around what we want, doesn’t mean it isn’t designed.
I’d think that some huge zergling fight over a keep puts far more strain on the servers than a 15v15 at the ruins.

Why is there no skill lag in Eternal Battleground when the fighting is spread out over the entire map, but there is horrible skill lag in Eternal Battleground when there is a massive three-way fight in SM?
When the same number of people are spread out across the map it doesn’t create the same problem as when all of those people are in the same place fighting each other. Fact.

I think it would be neat if characters in stealth could be seen by characters in stealth.
I believe that Camelot Unchained is headed in that direction. Stealth takes you into another plane where other stealthers can see you and where an anti-stealth class has abilities that allows them to see you.
Now, that’s good development right there. Risk vs. reward. Wow – what an amazing new concept to put into a PvP game.

The thing is, the fix is incredibly easy. All they have to do is give some classes a UTILITY that helps to counter stealth. That way they have to make a choice and have to sacrifice something if they want to be a stealth-hunter.
This would create a new dynamic in WvW, where you have the traditional stealth gank group and groups that hunt the gankers. These kinds of dynamics are GOOD for the game, Anet.
Many people play thieves, and to some extent mesmers, in order to remove the risk from the risk versus reward model. To keep things balanced, EVERY playstyle should have a counter available to the players.
There you go, Anet. Some more FREE development advice from me to you. Swallow your pride and start listening to your players. Some of whom know what the hell they are talking about.

Typically, we kite and spread out against such groups so they don’t have a “clump” of players to train into with aoe cc/dmg which gives the driver no obvious target to go after. That can work if you are in a wide open field, but not if the hammer/staff stackers have any kind of choke available to them.
And, I’m talking about fighting these types of groups when we have less numbers than them. Not the other way around.

The reason why groups stack is to reach the AoE cap and reduce damage. It’s also important to do mid-fight to “reset” the fight. What I mean by this, is that the regrouping allows everyone to heal up to full HP via water field blasts and gain almost full stacks of might via empower. In a sense, it returns your party to the condition it was in before the fight even started.
Regardless of it’s many benefits, stacking makes for boring meta, it is greatly over used, often at the expense of momentum and positioning, and in my opinion is used more as a crutch for bad positioning and movement, than its tactical advantages.
Lastly, people need to understand that there is a very big difference between a hammer train and a balanced comp. The fact that 4 warriors use hammers in a 15-man comp doesn’t make it a hammer train. Not even close, to be honest.
So over 26% of the group is using hammers, but that isn’t a hammer train? Where is the magical cut off, 80%? You are taking the term too literally anyway, it is more about the heavy defense ball formation with hammers, at 4 I would argue the number of hammers is irrelevant as far as the label goes.

Well over 50% of the comp uses staves…so why don’t we call it a staff train instead of a hammer train? Also would like to point out that GF was running about as much of a hammer train as Ark in the GvG.

In older MMOs training meant focusing someone down via single target damage and CC chains. This required good awareness, management of your cooldowns, and target swapping. You call target on enemy players based upon the threat of their class, their health level, whether they are out of position, whether they have used their defensive cooldowns, their heal, etc. In this game it just means spamming your AoEs on top of your targeted driver as he moves into a clump of enemy players.
I think Niim made a really good observation in the two different styles of open field fights in the game right now. There are fights where you are using your target on enemy players and fights where you are using your target on a friendly player. I prefer fights where the target is being used on enemy players because I think that style of play requires more individual skill and is more fun (for me, personally – of course).
I can see where others might find the other style more fun.

I do not know if you are mag or ebay but Mag can’t seem to fight 1v1 anyway. From roaming for daily I seen mag run from me only to come back with a group of 5+ following just to kill one player. I hear that alot from other people that Maguuma can’t fight alone, but you do not see me coming onto forums and posting ridiculous posts like that.

Nobody wants to chase around a roamer for 10 minutes across the map
Approximately 100% of PUG zergs will chase a roamer or roamers to zone-in and roughly 70% of guild zergs will chase a roamer or roamers to zone-in.
They will then start losing people a few at a time until the zerg decides that fighting roamers at their zone-in isn’t a very smart thing to do. When they try to leave the roamers pick off their stragglers and slow people.
At this point, one of two things happens. Either the zerg leaves the area completely abandoning their stragglers or they turn back on the roamers and the cycle repeats until the zerg gets wiped.
The above is what typically happens to zergs that chase roamers across a zone.

Outnumbered them you say.. you need to practice on your counting.. they had the other half of the zerg in the camp fighting the rest of our group while [MM] dropped down with like 15 and whiped the rest.. (and if you noticed half of them ran away to hills)
Nice flank, but you had a pretty large force inside the camp that had the EB there already pushed up to the wall. Looks like you had more there than they did. Green dots are a kitten.

Having a regular cycle of things that become OP and eventually get nerfed is good for gem sales as people retool and regear. The longer they let things like this slide the more revenue can be gained out of it in the longterm.
Of course, I’m probably just being extremely cynical here and its really just a case of incompetence. :-D

I am curious why you blot out the map? Is it to prevent people from reverse stream hunting you? Because it is still pretty easy to find someone streaming.
This does look easier than making videos… but I don’t know how fun it would be for people to watch me run in a circle flipping camps in the down times.
Biggest problem with streaming, of course. Tons of footage where nothing is happening or nothing interesting is happening.

To be good at roaming, a class needs:
-Out of combat mobility
-A lot of damage mitigation
-At least 2 escapes
-Enough stopping power to kill an enemy (at least if you plan to SOLO roaming).
The reason for all these things is so that you won’t be destroyed the moment you see a zerg coming while you’re fightning and so that you will not get killed if a random thief joins the fight and Basilisk/Backstabs you.Considered all the above, I would rate classes in this way:
1-D/P Thief (a good D/P thief NEVER dies, has one of the best OOC mobility in the game and can disengage at will).
2-Warrior, both condi and stunlock (high mobility and escapes, high tankiness, high damage)
3-D/D Elementalist (above average ooc mobility, great escapes with FGS, high tankiness. But very low damage).
3 (on par witht the above) – Condi Engineer (above average ooc mobility, nice escape with rocket boots, average tankiness, high AoE condi damage)
5 – Any not zerker Ranger (high ooc mobility, average escapes, above average tankiness, could be specced for high condition damage or very high tankiness)
6 – Mesmer (worst ooc mobility in the game, bad escapes, good damage mitigation, very high damage)
7 – Guardian (average ooc mobility, below average escapes, very high damage mitigation, very bad damage dealer)
8 – Necro (average ooc mobility, bad escapes, below average damage mitigation, high damage).It’s really difficult not to get killed as a mesmer or as a necro when things get bad, despite being able to deal a lot of damage. Mesmers COULD take on more opponent while searching for a way out, but in open field both these classes will die.
Guardians, despite being a lot tankier, have the same problem: almost no way to escape death if a zerg catches up with you, although you will be really hard to kill. Terrible for solo roaming as you won’t kill anything aside from upleveleds or kittened people who die to your Retailation.Rangers could be either tanky (but with more escapes than guardians) or condi damage dealers (way less damage than necro/engis, but nice escapes). Average roaming class.
A well spec’d/played Mesmer is one of the top roaming classes. Far superior to engis and rangers at least. Being able to chain 15+ seconds of stealth is a much more effective way to escape a zerg than anything else. If a zerg can see you then some if not all of them will chase you. The only thing you must do is make up for the lack of swiftness by running rune of the centaur or air.
It’s a pretty good list, but I would move mesmers up the list to second place, IMO. They have bad mobility, but they do have a lot of tricks up their sleeves to escape when running a heavy stealth build.

The orbs are something Anet likes to throw into the game every once in a awhile to remind their player-base that they don’t understand PvPers or PvP in general.

So basically servers that are ranked near 13th will have an inc of mass transfers to try to be a top team in the lower league. Meanwhile the bottom servers of each league will just lose more people to these servers.
Yes, there will be a mass exodus from the 7-12 range and the very bottom to the servers that will be near or at the top of the leagues which will make the disparity between a team at the top and a team at the bottom even worse.
My question is: Is it possible for a server to move up or down in a league or are they locked in one of the brackets forever?
If they are locked in, get ready for some very very dead servers and a bunch of very bad matchups and a bunch of players quitting WvW or the game.

Although, all in all, I’m not enthusiastic about this new system. I fail to understand the concept of “competition” that you hope to instill, when the playing field is inherently unbalanced. Numbers win everything. How is that a fair competition?
At no point did I, or would I have, said “Fair competition” WvW is not intended to be “fair”. There are servers with more people, there are servers with better organizations and that will always be the case..
Organization and open field “skill” doesn’t mean jack kitten when your server has a coverage gap that the other servers don’t. Why is this so hard to understand?

And the difference in coverage and population can be quite huge between servers just 2 or 3 rankings apart.

For all the TFH haters out there(Including the ones on Anvil Rock), ask the FC and DR zerglings that we kept wiping at Durios Gulch. Awesome fun, TFH had a ball for an hour wiping FC and DR multiple times. Whilst the rest of AR couldn’t even defend Overlook!!
