ANet, you know the best thing in RPG games? Levelling up and becoming more powerful.
So when we level up in GW2 and only get skill points towards the few decent skills or circus elites. It actually highlights how bad the skills especially elite are!
GW – Guys I just got Spiteful Spirit by killing a boss wooties!
GW2 – I just finished Clor Island and my toon now has a trait in an stat I don’t use and all other slots are empty!
I think what I’m saying is you have to fill the void you’ve created!

See the problem with this reply is that the guy/gal PAID for an MMO, not a fart about with your network connections game.
What’s next, re-install windows? Delete you email addresses?
Since this issue I have installed Steam, downloaded torrents and even installed Superantispyware just in case. Needless to say, there were no issues with any and speeds were top!
It’s not a gamers job to work out the kinks man!

Does anyone remember UT2004 where players made custom maps?
Living Story – http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4kvT0dywaF8
Just kidding, in my humble.
You missed One of the more beautiful areas (Kessex) getting uglified, Teq became pointless to all but the dedicated, new skills which most people don’t bother with at 25 points for crap. More new skills with Necro one being pretty much kittene
Ps. WvW, hah, those guys are never happy, ANet asked them to post footage for a promo vid or something. The cheeky monkeys kinda voiced opinions instead.

You know that birthday where you love your Granny but you know your getting garbage as a gift.
NCAnet have adopted that model. They’ll no doubt release something that undermines the whole point of toons birthdays. Level 80 scrolls for all toons at level 80 or something. Mini Queen Jenna in the fiery tier 3 gear etc. as an eff you lol
(edited by Paul.4081)
Bonk away!
I’m throwing in the towel and giving up. I have a free weekend and fancied getting some GW2 in. After this incompetence I uninstalled it since it’s not worth days of hassle and off to check out the Steam summer sale.
Golf clap for NCAnet…..
Even the Chinese will notice they can’t see Godzillla because Guardians!
Isn’t it taking advantage showing China Godzilla battles from ones they’ll never have? I’m guessing from the request China are too busy chasing the ugly backpacks?
Silverstarre I apologise. It’s not you I’m angry at.
(edited by Paul.4081)
Mintyfresh, any post that starts with lol, I wouldn’t take seriously.
Wait till 80 is a reality, there are players achieving this without waiting.
(edited by Paul.4081)
Gaile no offense but I use a site that got hit with this issue, the site shall remain nameless. They resolved it within 24 hours. Granted they aren’t a MMO.
And here we are flipping coins and jumping through hoops hoping it’ll turn up in our favour with solutions that may or may not work. This is great and not your fault.
If it’s any consolation I too am crashing while trying to install (twice now) with a different error message. The combination of this and the pathetic download speeds are nothing short of a shambles.
…even if people say that GW2 is CPU bound it doesn’t mean that you could forget about graphics cards.
Very true, I see someone saying above that gpu doesn’t matter. They do. I had to replace my gpu recently and stuck in an older card I had lying around in the meantime and my fps plummeted to single digits. I waited till I got my replacement before I played again.
Hopefully they’ll show all aspects of WvW and include footage of mappers simply running for 20 minutes to get to a skill point, getting killed by camping thieves then running for 20 minutes to a different skill point or vista :P
So the map completion is to get players into WvW to try it and hopefully some might stay. Ok, fair enough.
I’ve tried WvW when I got Map Completion on my main and hated every second of it and haven’t been back (except using the portal). Wish I didn’t have to suffer it again and again on alt’s if I’ve tried and not enjoyed. Pity WvW maps aren’t optional 2nd, 3rd, 4th time around where WvW’s can do those and don’t have to do 4 World Maps or something to balance their claims of hatred of doing PvE world maps for map completion.
No love for Voodoo cards, sniff!
Hmmm… I must admit I’m disappointed with the new release not fixing this. Sometimes, ANet proves they listen to the players. I guess this is not one of those times.
Nah, it’s pretty clear.
They’d rather tell off and put a pointless sticky in the WvW forums than engage us after pages and pages.
Traits are the new WvW, got it ANet!
…
They decided to go with something similar to how GW1 is. It’s actually better than how GW1 is as you don’t have to spend a single piece of gold to get the traits….Who cares how crappy GW1 was. The new trait system in GW2 is simply worse than the way it was.
Depending how you play. Possible Level 80 with zero traits!
I’m seriously having a hard time getting my head round this. Maybe because I enjoy single player rpg games where levelling up matters. That and every other rpg type game.
Christ as a youngster I grinded by bum off in Flyff. At least there you got stat points per level.
Sure you can say, hey you get a skill point. Oh, like the 5 I got doing map completion for you ridiculous requirements?
Levelling up has been ruined, no question! Well done!
(edited by Paul.4081)
Tbh I don’t think they know how, like the boss lightsplosion that they added a checkbox for that does nothing.
Placebo don’t work here. Just like FoV.
(edited by Paul.4081)
Maybe that removing dye drops makes gathering plants much less fun or is it just me that ignores plants now?
They’ve reduced the drop rates (multiple times, removed dyes altogether) and have added grind you’ll be happy to know.
Best way to get an answer is watch the manifesto video and imagine the opposite of everything they say.
You’re the player at the helm, ANet are the ones that decide how you play, not me.
I have 65 and stockpiling, spent 1 on the glowing eyes mask for me Mesmer. I keep getting them or keys that unlock (honestly, crap).
Guess I hope I get more keys to unlock pointless xp boosters and 1 copper dyes

They should have added more desirable traits or skills and locked those behind map completion etc. instead of moving the goalposts after all this time.
I’ve read about people claiming they’ve reached level 80 by playing the way most fun to them and having zero traits when they ding 80. That’s not right.
Also in GW if I recall I had a full skill bar even without my elite in Pre-Searing or shortly after just from doing low level quests. I didn’t have a quest telling me “To unlock Animate Bone Fiends you must kill your Doppleganger in the Crystal Desert” in Pre-Searing.
Well there were no “utility skill slots” in GW1. You had 8 slots in which to equip skills and could literally put anything you wanted in them, so long as you were only using one elite. Each character class also had approximately 90 skills to pick from over all. So creating a dynamic build was much more involved and took a bit more intelligence than it does today. No skills attached to your weapons. The only skills in GW1 that required you to kill anything was the elites, which were carried by bosses throughout the maps.
I have a hard time saying what I mean. What I meant with that post is that in GW, you had no empty slots, sure you could get elite skills but in the meantime you could fill with normal skills.
In GW2 you have nothing of this sort, you have an empty space as far as traits go unless you bow to ANet’s whim and go chasing traits! Not forgetting We’ve all tasted the good Trait system!
Does that make more sense?
Eg. “Congratulations, you levelled up, enjoy your nothing!”

Guild Wars, where elite skills were elite and didn’t transform you into a dancing chicken or something equally pathetic. It’s no wonder they used traits instead of elite skills in the new ‘feature’. Nobody would bother hunting down most of the elite skills in this game. Anywhoo…
People say “GW had loads of skills but only so many were useful!” Rubbish, don’t blame the game for your lack of experimentation and using factory builds. I constantly changed and experimented with all skills across my heroes. Some were ultra failures and some were winners. The difference is here in GW2 I’ve had the same build on my main for the past (almost) 2 years, that says it all.
Oh, actually I tell a lie, I swapped my heal skill to the anti toxin one for about 5 minutes.
I’m tired of always fighting on a needles edge size area with AOE that takes almost all the room up. kitten , give us something worth dodging to instead of, hey dodge here it has another red circle waiting for you.
Early fight with the Asuran trio was AOE/HP’s Christmas, I pretty much gave up after that. Expansions worth lol, right.
Boring amounts of HP and blanket the area with aoe circles, can I get a job at Anet now I realise how it’s done?

school holidays
Nope, could explain why but…
With a 30 page thread with the pretention of asking for feedback on traits. Why bother?
Used to be able to find them at a simple button press, obviously that wasn’t complicated and annoying enough and needed changing, Yay!
Next update will be the need to press up, left, down, right, A, Y. B, A, B to open our inventory.

The suggestions part of the forums was removed for a reason.

To celebrate, new items in the cash shop!
Last one was from a champ bag in January I think. best chance I have of seeing exotics is from others pinging or on the TP.

Okay, so last year, I played this game from about May to late October (during the time of the Halloween update), and in the process, got a level 80 Elementalist among some other characters. However, by the time I had quit, I was simply burnt out. Between the barrage of constant updates that forced me to do them or miss out on them and the money grind for a legendary weapon (which was basically the endgame at this point), all I had left was WvW, which was getting tiresome after constantly doing it (and the having to pay actual gold to upgrade forts).
Now however, I’m interested in this game again, seeing as Wildstar wasn’t as good as anticipated. Yet, I’m aware I missed tons of “living world” content. Would it even be worth returning to the game after having permanently missed out on so much content and story, and if so, would the problems I faced before I quit continue to haunt me now?
Inb4 ignore forum comments as long as they conform to matching white knight dribility
I’d say the brainchild behind this change hasn’t played GW. In GW1 (loose term) the collection of elite skills was all about choice, like I said above, this new guff is not. Magi Malaquire isn’t sitting on a hill here, instead we have consolised devs thinking “YipEEE! SAB!” while watching the Star Wars prequels and wishing Jar Jar minis were in the cash shop!
(edited by Paul.4081)
New gem shop stuff? Surprise, surprise. We haven’t seen a whole new set available outside the gem shop since the beginning. That’s quite unbelievable, really.
Ascended.
Ah, right. There were so many I forgot to mention this one.
They got the first syllable right
Rubber ducking hell. I made a new Ranger. I got to level 36 and you know what I got for my trouble….drumroll…..No pickable traits (power), not one, they’re all locked.
Sure I get the passive benefits but all traits locked what a joke. Who OK’d this? My reward for getting to level 36 is “Haha, suck it, look what you don’t get!”
What a heap of garbage.
After the last feature pack with traits an all and the season 1 of LS. I vote Elona expansion.
Maybe we should all use google translate to post in Chinese, maybe then they’ll matter?
(edited by Paul.4081)
No matter what anyone says, there are for certain blessed and cursed accounts. I have a cursed one.
Saying it’s RNG is a cop out. If it was random it wouldn’t be so consistent now would it?
(edited by Paul.4081)
My goodness are you playing on a Gameboy?
Nah, that’s the Game Gear version you can tell because it has colour, the Gameboy version is just yellow :P
I want to spend my skill points on SKILLS. That’s why they’re called skill points.
That would mean designing and balancing more skills, eff that. Easier to put existing content behind a new artificial wall and name it a feature.
Haha, I’m not falling for that again. I’ll re-install if the overwhelming response isn’t disappointment and Anet’s motto changes from pay up or shut up.
(edited by Paul.4081)
why did you make it so painful to start a new character? the new trait system forces you to do map exploration for EVERYTHING.
just buy the skills you say? for 50 silver + and 2+ skillpoints!!!! I can live with the cash just means more money for anet >=( but the skill points are a bit harsh, REMOVE THAT REQUIREMENT
Nobody cares, most players are 80 here with cash to back up their time wasted
I’d be up for chatting but…you need to have pathetic looking tardy legendaries
Anet goes it own direction with ideas and suggestions, CDI included.
Feels like they’re running through a maze.
That’s because, while they do have ideas, they lost the vision that was supposed to guide them long ago.
Stop beating about ze bush. I’ts cash shop, cash shop, cash shop
Hide(I)ous
I played GW for 6 years and happily bought all costumes. Wanna know how many I’ve bought in GW2, none.
Thanks for that Crystin
(edited by Paul.4081)
I logged into GW1 to see my birthday pressies. I got hit with guild joining messages fast. There is still a Gw1 community without question
Granted those messages were in Spamadan and LA
(edited by Paul.4081)
I had the wedding costume which I bought without question in GW. I even got considered on the Pink day for a winner. Stupidly didn’t change my headgear to the tiara.
In GW2…just kitten. Even the chaos gloves compared to GW2 would laugh. Cox has ruined this game!
OP, you want my stuff before you leave?
You seem to have coherent reasons, maybe I can entice you back by offering shinies!
Seriously though, I think your honest opinion regardless of the lordkrall’s warrants attention.
You are in no way being overly emotional. You are wording it as you see it. How on earth that can be translated to being bad is beyond me.
