Suuuper slow

Paul.4081

Seriously is it just me or production wise does anet move irritably slow?

The game took about six years since announcement to release. I’ve compared that length to a few other mmo’s and it is about double the amount of time.

It’s been about two years and devs haven’t even DECIDED on what to do about an expansion.

PVE system still not corrected. Zerker meta is still king

etc…etc..

It just seems rather slow to me. But that is just to me and my opinion is one in many.
SOOOO what do you guys think? Are they putting out features at an acceptable speed? Does the amount of polish make it ok at the rate they are putting out features?

Took them a year+ to add the heal skill from the tower that nobody uses. Give them time.

Oops I had sarc lock on.

In reality I read
“I never have no will ever have a woman”

The typical argument for people who are very successful in a video game.

This is true but in this case I think the success in the game in question is why I’d recommend the gamer to go cycling or even just breathe fresh air. I’m not jealous, I’m just concerned for the guy/gal.

I mean if it was a consortium of people saying “Yay, we finally did it!” it wouldn’t be an issue but it’s one guy/gal.

Ps. OP, I’m not saying you’re a mutant or anything, just maybe take timeout or something. What you did is mind boggling to me, I just hope you had fun doing it.

I’ve been kinda busy IRL so I haven’t been playing or checking the forums lately.
I was wondering if ANet replied at all to our Wardrobe feedback and specifically my own question to them:

In the wardrobe introduction blog (https://www.guildwars2.com/en/news/introducing-the-wardrobe-system/), it clearly says:

" Unlocked skins can be applied to items infinitely (for just one Transmutation Charge), which makes it much less stressful to try out a new look for your character, since you can always switch back!"

yet it doesn’t seem to work that way in-game.
This is quite disappointing, I should say.
Why is there a contradiction between what was advertised and what was presented? Is this intended?

There’s an answer in the cash shop, it costs 801 gems to unlock though.

I am here for fun and entertainment. Not to be made to grind or be told what to do.

This, right here (first sentence) is what were promised and in the first glorious month or two we actually had. What we now have is

“They want something to do, should we create new content?”

“Nah lets put a gate on existing content and call it new instead!”

“But they really want new skills, the elites for the most part suck!”

“Nah lets put a gate on existing content and call it new instead!”

“Guys you ruined the trait and hero panel, what the hell?”

Horrible, the next time a dev gets a bright idea that dev should be forced to actually play the game for an hour to check if they’re genius idea is actually worth it. In this case it is not.

Can’t preview available traits in a selected slot without spending points? Thanks for adding the extra work to the previously easy system, numpties.

you can easily preview each of the traits in the list on the left, just click on the traitline and not the slot.

Whereas before I could just read about the trait as I created my build. This is an improvement how? To make me exercise my mouse hand more? What’s next? Adding extra clicks required to the hero panel?

My toons are not poorer for doing this, I just thought that instead of sitting on a pile of imaginary money isn’t helping anyone I should give my fortune to a new player that will have use for it.

I have no regrets! I was always that way in GW1 too. Gave many new players stuff. I’m not sure what I’m actually trying to say here other than splash out gals/guys, you’ll feel better instead of swimming in gold like Scrooge McDuck :P

endgineer

Aww, so cute.

There are 99 problems with this game, but the combat ain’t one of them.

The only thing missing from making it to 100 is 1, and that’s they key most people use in this game. Thankfully the trait rework addressed this issue, no wait, that was some other game I was thinking of :P

Don’t get me wrong I did use my other skills but I’d always get to a point and usually early on in this game where I’d just go “Eff it!” and just hit 1 until we’d get to a champ or boss, something I’d never do in the prequel. I think it’s just because at the end of the day the skills in this game are much less fun (for me at least). Look at elites, I couldn’t wait to get them initially but when I finally did I kept waiting for some unlock while I levelled that would make them actually elite. This unlock never happened

As they are, most elite skills could be renamed as Bozo skills. They have been designed with flashiness instead of competence in mind I think. I mean, if they had a sniper profession in this game, it’s elite skill would be a neon disco aoe effect to give away your position, a close range stabby one or a pet.

Are gemstore prices aceptable?

in Black Lion Trading Co

Posted by: Paul.4081

Paul.4081

Personally, I think all costume sets should be 2 dollars or lower. I’m not spending 10 dollars in a virtual game just to look cool.

Considering I got this game, which comes with amazing content built in, for 60 dollars, I am hesitant to buy a costume, that does nothing but make me look better, for 10 dollars. I just bought Borderlands 2 for 10 dollars. A single costume is not worth 10 dollars. In any universe.

I bought Torchlight 2 for the same price of approx. 800 gems. I’ve gotten 211 hours of fun from TL2 so far. When I thought about that compared to buying a one time use skin or gambling for one it really put things into perspective and ended my gem purchases for good.

Like others have said though there is nothing unreasonable with the prices as long as there are mugs willing to pay it.

Um…you do realize that all stories are according to plan, right? If a villain in a story screws up or doesn’t succeed it’s all “according to plan” of the writer. Therefore Scarlet getting away with everything was, yes, according to plan. That doesn’t mean something is wrong with it.

Yes, there were no major plot twists, but her story wasn’t that well-told either.

Not all. Surely I’m not the only one who has read these books?

New games in 2014. can GW2 keep up?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

From what I’ve seen of TESO I just have zero desire to play it. I played Morrowind, Oblivion and Skyrim to death but TESO, even if it wasn’t a monthly fee I wouldn’t get it.

I can’t really put my finger on why though. Maybe it’s because in the single player games I liked going into caves etc. and the feeling of solitude and self reliance that doing so brought. In the online game no doubt I’d go into a cave and then 14 players called ‘S3PH1R0TH’ would bungle in after me like a full capslocked bull in a china shop

The only games I’m honestly looking forward to at this point are L4D3 and HL3. I think I’m done with MMO’s for a good long while.

Nope. They’ll never admit mistakes let alone understand them.

Without the grind in this game – there is little to no content to do for a level 80.

But, The issue isn’t the grind even – it’s the complete lack of viable reward’s for said grind.

The RNG system in this game is a slap in the face to player’s.

It basically boils down to this imo: Here are some real niffty items or mats we know you want / need. Here is some DR and .076 chances of getting them.

the content that actually challenges you and puts your skill into test is not very rewarding (PvP, fractals, etc…) yet the mindless content designed only to keep you playing the game endlessly like a drone is the most rewarding (dungeons, LS)

And people log back every 2 weeks for their shiny. Working as intended.

Found a pic of the player with the most achievement points in GW2. Here he is enjoying the LS.

I’ve given up too. I have to admit though I’ve certainly gotten my moneys worth. For me the game is simply going in a direction that I’m not prepared to follow. The living story is just straight to bargain bin content unlike the campaigns for GW that I bought and loved playing. The more of them (LS chapters) I missed, the easier it was to detach myself from playing the game, so thanks I guess ANet. You have cured me of my GW addiction of 5 years and GW2 junkiedom of 2 (on/off).

I still read the forums but unless there is the second coming with JC handing out precursors to everyone in game. I’ll never login again.

Ascended Armor Grind

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Paul.4081

Paul.4081

No grind = no goal to work towards = no point to continue to play. If you don’t want asc items no problem you can still effectively play the game. The problem lies that our society lacks patience. We want everything yesterday with as little effort as possiable.

Thing is for me in GW I got Obby armour and didn’t mind slowly getting it. There’s something about ascended and legendary weapons in this game that just make me go, “Meh, think I’ll skip it!”. The drive to get them just isn’t there.

I honestly think it has to do with the TP. In GW I used to trade a lot and when I met up with the person I was trading with, we’d usually comment on each others armour. In GW2, that’s gone. You have a droid like interaction with a TP that couldn’t care less if you’re wearing bananas on your feet and a pineapple on your head

Purposeful severing of ties to GW1?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Paul.4081

Paul.4081

For GW1 players LA was a special place. It took us from concern only about Ascalon to the big world. It was the port to New Lands. We got involved with its politics, its very survival. It was a special place.

And now it will be destroyed. To me, it seems like a final nail in the coffin of GW1 and its relationship to this game and story.

It is a sad ending to a great city that survived so much, only to be finally undone by a second rate villian with a contrived plotline unrelated to former Tyrian lore.

The last vestige of the old game. This is more of an exorcism than a living story.

For me I don’t think there is room for any more coffin nails unless they hammer nails on top of nails. I played the game for so long before I realised I was waiting for the game to become a true sequel to GW which, let’s face it, is never going to happen. I think the old GW dev’s are all but gone, the consolised Michael Bay div’s are running the show now.

Staff – See above.

Bows – Bows play the latest internet craze tune song every time an arrow is twanged.

That the game has become Jar Jar Binks.

With SAB, Quaggan backpacks, Living Achievements etc. This game has become far too cute and cuddly for what should be a more aggressive world. We’re supposed to be trying to save the world from dragons people, not play Hello Kitty dress up. Things like Scarlet and her Scooby Doo villain persona further cement that this is a game now designed for children.

Why does the GW2 Playerbase ignore orders?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Paul.4081

I’m betting the answer is somehow symmetrical with “Why does every fool with 100g to burn think he’s my boss?”

I’m generally open to guidance, but a decade in the military gave me a highly tuned awareness of who is and isn’t actually in my chain of command.

I worked that out without a decade in the military as far as GW2 goes :P

Sorry, that sounds like I’m being rude. I don’t mean to be.

I played some Guild Missions where orders were given and in some cases barked. I knew what I was singing up for when doing that though and I expected it plus it was with players who I had spent gametime with. I had no qualms about that. When Joe The Woriar is telling me how to play my game though, that’s a different matter.
