Here’s another juicy T3 issue. It’s pretty much the same for every exotic shield but that one is the worst. When they said “Become one with the shield” the Charr took it literally.
Nothing like that. In Gendarran I was at the fields just north of where you leave from LA. All I was doing was gathering some mats, killed the occasional beastie and was chatting to guildies, all the while I have the battle theme playing (about 20 minutes probably). As soon as I re-logged the music went back to normal. In Blazeridge I was mapping and the only DE nearby was a protect the npc’s shield one.
(edited by Paul.4081)
This has happened a few times now and I have to re-log or else the battle music just keeps on playing even if I haven’t attacked anything for a while.
I’m not sure if it’s coincidence but it always happens on my Warrior and in Ascalonian zones. Gendarran Fields and Blazeridge Steppes were the last two offenders.
Wasn’t sure whether to post here or in bugs but since this is audio.
I think they’ve even added immobilise skills to enemies in PvE that didn’t have it before because it seems every 5 seconds I have it cast on me. This along with knockdowns, stuns and 30 second limps make for a humdrum experience.
Are they just incapable of creating difficulty without taking control completely away from us? When I spend 5 seconds of a fight unable to do anything even with a Guardian because every single monster has these attacks it doesn’t make me think “This is challenging!” it makes me think “Yawn! How cheap, annoying and tedious!”
In the earlier Final Fantasy games I used to class these type of skills as the boring skills, things like Stop etc. ANet have taken every one of these types of boring skills and based almost every monsters attacks around it
(edited by Paul.4081)
I remember this game I used to play for 5 years which had a costume maker that you took your acquired event skins to. The costume maker would then allow your other characters on your account to purchase and use those skins too for about 10gp. I can’t remember the name of the game though, something Wars. Maybe if someone knows the game I mean they can let ANet know and they can check it out because that would be nice to have in this game :P
The behavior of players is shameful. Only a few will try to help. But most will just let everyone die if it will help them to get to top of tower.
It’s pretty difficult to stop and help somebody (However much you want to) if you know your going to die as well.
This was my experience too. I hate leaving people behind in the downed state but every time I’d stop to help I’d go down too.
I’ll be skipping the rest of this one (by rest I mean the achievements). I got to the top of the tower of tedium and finished the last instance. Scarlet then babbled on about events I had no clue about since I missed earlier LS episodes. On top of that I don’t like the gasmask and the back item looks daft imo so it’s back to GW2 for me.
(edited by Paul.4081)
Wait for ANet to fix it I think.
It happens to me in PvE too. It’s no biggy restarting for me when it happens but I imagine it’s annoying in WvW if you queued up to get in.
There’s a couple of other threads here in the Bugs section and more in Audio so hopefully ANet will read one of them.
example of what an elite skill should feel like in gw2 imo
star burst stream!
If that was an elite skill in GW2 the cooldown would be a month.
But what Anet should do is to add a mini slot in our hero panel, so the mini can automatically come out.
This is easily the best solution and has been suggested loads of times. Even just add right click menu options on minis that have selections to lock it in your inventory or stay active even when you change zones.
I have a bunch of GW2 minis and the HoM ones but I never ever use them because they just get sent to the bank with my mats. Since it’s a rare occasion if I ever see any minis at all in LA I guess I’m not the only one.
I delete the .dat files every week or so and this has happened to me twice recently. Each time I was in Orr, not sure if that’s coincidence or not. The sounds seem to dwindle off one by one. At first the music will go then the sound effects and lastly the voices.
I almost had a heart attack the first time it happened because the music and sound were gone but I kept going to see if the sound would come back on it’s own. All of a sudden I hear “FOR GREAT JUSTICE!” and nearly hit the roof because up til that point I’d been playing in total silence
This happened to me when doing the Kessex quest to free the slaves in the lake. Clicking skills or pressing the skill key had no effect so I had to run/swim away from the Krait and re-log.
The freedom to put a utility skill into slot 0 if I wanted to.
This, and for the actual event to be the polar opposite of how this years Halloween turned out to be. No Living Achievements for the duration of the holiday season and for ANet to focus all staff on making Wintersday great would also be nice.
Time to wake up in 5…4…3…2…1
/Stretch, that was a nice dream, wonder what we will get?
Anet, please fix Search.
Better yet, fix the ghosts.
Must have had a good holiday in the sun. It’s Winter now so I’m sure they’ll be blue again in no time
This was in the Plains of Ashford near Vault WP. I’m sure I’ve seen it happen in other parts too.

GW2 doesn’t have ini’s we can edit anyway. I was just using an example of one of the many games that you can change the ini in to get a comfortable fov compared to GW2 where it just feels wrong and you’re stuck with it.
Who cares about some random title. (Dont see what a emperor has to do with armor anyway)
Probably something to do with this.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Emperor%27s_New_Clothes
To OP – I get garbage drops so have to gather wood, ore and ingredients or kill world bosses for my cash and only have t3 Norn left for the title. It doesn’t really take that long to save up.

It was fun the first 10 times or so but after that I agree that it’s just dragging things out unnecessarily. If the finish him was a quick and painful looking stomp on the face or you quickly smashed them on the head with your weapon of choice I wouldn’t mind. As it is though you do a big posey long winded He-Man impression “I HAVE THE POWERRRRR!”
Anet purposefully made the camera zoomed in because of combat awareness. Now I don’t agree with this myself all it does is make it so I have to constantly keep rotating the camera
I have to keep rotating the camera because every monster seems to be designed to try to run through me to get behind me. Not just ranged ones (or the allover the place Tamini) so they can hit me in the back. Even melee monsters will run up to me and always go about two steps behind. After the thousandth time when I know. “Ok those monsters will run up to me and go slightly behind so I stop attacking and have to do a 180 and re-attack” gets annoying (for me at least).
Also with regards to earlier mentioned FoV, I really wish there was some way to increase it. I have to play more zoomed out on my characters than I’d like or else it feels too claustrophobic. I wish I could play on the second closest zoom where I can see all my toons in glorious detail but the left and right are so confined that it makes it an uncomfortable experience. It’s not my zoom distance that’s the problem here but the FoV. So many other games I’ve played with my characters at that distance from the camera without the same feeling (even if it required ini editing it was doable like in 3rd person mode in Skyrim for example).
On about 85% of my characters, yes. So many elites are anything but and seem to be just filler skills.
Personally, I think male Norns look like brainless muscleheads and the battle sounds they make really make …. I’m not even gonna talk about that.
Plus they have stumpy little Dwarf legs.
I almost always play females in games. I was rolled as a male irl so might as well try something different in games. Either that or I’m a closet transvestite

Just like to make a point about loot.
In the recent feedback threads on the general discussion forum, WvW and PvP forums, about 80-90% of players listed LACK OF REWARDS, as a MAJOR problem with GW2.
Anets response? NERF rewards even more…
They ask for feedback and then ignore it all.
Its no wonder the forums get toxic…those feedback threads are just PR, looks like they have no intention of listening.
I still regularly across all toons get hit with the DR poison even when venturing into different zones and not killing the same monsters over and over. The only way I can make ANY money at all in this game is by gathering mats or doing the meta boss farm with my Guild. Most of the time though my ‘heroes’ are reduced to being lumberjack miners to get gold.
(edited by Paul.4081)
Can this be made an option please?
Since I am a mostly a skill clicker when I play, countless times I have clicked on the swap weapon icon in the heat of combat by accident because of the placing being right next to attack number 1. I have a mouse button to swap weapons so this icon is just there for me to click in frantic combat which with weapon swap cooldowns isn’t good.
If this icon could be hidden or moved I could just think to myself “Whoops!” when I click a little to the left of my 1 attack then click again with minimal issues. As is I have to change my attack mid combat because I clicked slightly to the left and this obviously screws up the flow quite badly.
Thanks.
(edited by Paul.4081)
So they put different colours on and very slightly modify the Hellfire Vambraces then charge 400 gems for it, nice.
And at the same time, please make it target the nearest enemy (more often). It still picks distant targets while ignoring things that you can hit in front of you in melee range.
Yep, happens all the time to me. Monsters all around but auto target thinks an appropriate target is the one that says “Out of Range” when I hit attack. The targeting atm would take some serious dedication to make it any worse.
I love in this thread the “I don’t like the way you play the game. I’m glad they nerfed it so you don’t play the game how you want to.” replies. Fark you guys. I like to farm. I enjoy it. Quit trying to make me quit playing this game, Anet!
Yeah .. maybe its time to start a “nerf Dungeon rewards” Thread, since i don’t like Dungeons, so its time to nerf them also.
Especially the ones where people can just skip most of the stuff and get rewards for practically 0 skills. I wouldn’t really call that a fair reward system.
This, this and this. I guess “play your way” really means only if other people think it’s ok and they approve.
The uncut version of the quote is “Play your way so that we know what to nerf next and we’ll make you play our way if it’s the last thing we do”
This could also have an effect on new players. They’ll see that heal skill for 25 points and through no fault of their own assume (yes we all know what is said about assumption so save yourself a post if you’re that person) that it’s the best one to get and won’t be able to buy other skills to help them level while they save up. It’s all well and good for us people to just buy it from our large stash of points but 25 points to a new player is quite a lot.
Seems Anet just hike up the price because some people have tons of skillpoints. If they ran a shop would they hike up the prices if a famous person came in just because they are rich? Actually, I know the answer to that
I wouldn’t buy the female heavy either (I like the light though). I have T3 cultural on my female Guardian, that’s a good look imo and she looks like a fighter instead of a stripogram.
Plus the chest and waist parts of Phalanx (especially from the back) looks like a van has reversed over her and left tyre treadmarks
Someone else suggested it, well many others suggested it around the birthday gift time. Changing the level 20 scrolls to add 20 levels instead would be nice. I have 9 alt’s, none of which are under level 20 and I’m not buying 2 more slots just to use my birthday scrolls. So they are pretty much dust collectors for me and many players that haven’t yet trashed them.
Right now I want to switch back yes, after seeing what ANet thought was an ok change to the armour I’m sceptical about the next change.
I wish they would add a toggle to select original or glow versions and that way surely everyone would be happy? That would allow ANet to modify the armour all they want while people who have been happy with their armour for months (8 in my case) can continue to have the armour and look they spend hundreds of gold perfecting depending on chosen dyes.
(edited by Paul.4081)
I’d like to get some dungeon armours for some of my toons but I can’t stand the dungeons in this game so don’t go near them. They can have cultural and like it
I also didn’t complete my WvW exploration part until I once found out our server had pretty much total control of all the maps. It was just like getting 100% in PvE. I’d still be at 91% or whatever if I had to actually play WvW to get 100%.
The Optimist in me says – Even if you use an Ori pick on them and get say 2-3 spores from a group of 5 that’s the pick paid for and everything else is a bonus if you sell on the TP.
The Pessimist in me says – I don’t understand why we have to get so many mushies. Especially when we can do the events and get up to 10 of them if we get a double harvest. How come we can harvest 5 at a time from the event ones then mush the others? Do our toons magically forget how they got them earlier or put on invisible boxing gloves to harvest with when not near an event?
I’d also like to add that as well as destroying my Necro Sylvari look with this change you have also changed both my Sylvari characters eyes to jet black when they had been a very light green.
Can I please have back the Sylvari characters that I rolled, clothed and dyed or an option to do so because it’s not a nice feeling to have my main toon suddenly change so drastically in appearance from something I had no choice in.
ANet imagine if someone spray painted your car and blacked out the headlights while you slept, would you be happy?
Here’s a pic of my alt. Sylvari thief who was dyed a medium green. Now with the severe loss of detail means she looks almost black. Revert please.
(edited by Paul.4081)
Hating this change too on my T3 female light. It makes the front look a different colour than the sides and back as well as it making the front just look too flat. In game the glow makes my characters boobs glow like a neon sign from a strip bar or something
I’m using Evening Grass and Emerald dyes.
Please give an option to turn this off or give it a seperate dye channel with an option to use no colour. I liked my Sylvari Necro look but now it’s ruined.
I would like it to actually take everything I loved about Guild Wars and put it into a persistent world.
Two words…
Porous Bones.
The biggest problem at hand and why I personally can’t play the game more than 30 minutes at a time (thanks DR!).
Magic find doesn’t push grey loot/no loot off the loot table.
I have 110% magic find and I now get 2 porous bones from enemies in Orr instead of just 1 so that’s something I suppose?
Shut up OP, here’s a You Tube vid of happy players :P
12 turns = Tic gets ascended
(edited by Paul.4081)
There’s no way I’d welcome this, leave as is. There is an unsaid nod to those players with titles from GW1 when I bump into a fellow achiever because I know what they went through and that they are fellow GW1 players.
LA is still crossroad. Lore-wise too, besides that its only city you can port into for free thru mists.
Add mystic forges into all nations cities, enable city selection at mists portal and behold.This. Very much this.
I’d be in Black Citadel permamently if it had a mystic forge.
I would be too if there were signs that they actually took those vehicles they have outside it. Maybe as a new DE? Outside the Black Citadel should look like a muddy version of Terminator flashbacks lol but we get sunshine days where we can pick flowers and vegetables.
We don’t have a Spamadan though so LA it is :P
I’d just like to add another pointless clutter UI effect that is the red effects border when we take a few hits. Now I get why this was added because a lot of modern games have it so obviously GW2 has to have it too regardless of relevance.
The games that usually have this though are pretty much first person shooters and the red effects are to simulate your pain on being hit (or give you an idea of which direction your pain is coming from).
Why is this taking up real estate in a 3rd person mmorpg game? We are not playing as the person we play we’re just in control of them so red borders at damage are just more needless screen obscuring clutter.
(edited by Paul.4081)
Can you please get rid of the living story and personal story hints from the top right!!!
I’m tired of asking for this (but +1’d anyway) and also the removal of the pointless ragged border and XP bar. In game press ctrl + shift + h then turn it on and off a few times and you’ll see how space is taken up by things that should be taken up by the game.
I mean look at it this way, how many famous painting are in art galleries without a square or rectangular frame because they look better with the raggedy canvas instead? None?
(edited by Paul.4081)
Zero, after seeing the requirements I just sell it when I sell collected mats.
Do you remember when Halloween farming was fun?
Guild Wars 1 remembers.
I do indeed. Good memories not of farming but just actually getting holiday drops. In GW2 even killing the 1-10 monsters that come out of the doors is more likely to get you bone junk than a Halloween item so I’ve stopped bothering with them. Playing normally the game is also stingy as hell with holiday drops and my personal best is 5 levels (69-74) without a single ToT bag.
Wonder if they’ll Ebineezer Scroogify Wintersday too?
Also, the server I’m on in LA has people asking the same thing as the OP. Maybe there’ll be a labyrinth equivalent of the TTS Guild you can join when the tumbleweeds start rolling on more servers
(edited by Paul.4081)
With regards to the UI. I use my mouse to click the skills because I use the arrow keys on the right side of my keyboard. Any chance we can have an option to turn off skill tips too please? Some weapons have triple boxes that are really quite big and probably unnecessary for a lot of players after playing their profession for a while.
I added a screen of my Necro about to take down one of the hardest monsters in the game and the wand is a good example of what I mean. I know what these skills do by now so I’d prefer not to have them obscuring my screen if possible.
You can speak for me if you want OP. My only experience with the character is that she is a failure of an invader who has her forces invade but her definition of invade is spawn on a map and wait in place to be killed or for time* to run out. I played GW1 for years and would like to see some sort of continuation of it instead of muppet show characters.
*Why all the timers now? Are all these events now just time killers while the bosses wait for their other half to get ready before they go out to dinner or something?
Jungle Wurm: Raaaawr!
Players: Eek, lets kill it!
Jungle Wurm: (Looks at watch) Sorry guys gtg, she’s ready now and you didn’t kill me in time, bbl!
Player: Golem up. We must hurry, dentist appointment in 10 minutes.
(edited by Paul.4081)
Just wanted to say that I am sad that they are town clothes… oh so sad
They even look like armor
More kittening town clothes? What portion of the player base even uses them?
/age
Across all characters, you have played for 1299 hours 2 minutes over the past 423 days. In this time you have spent roughly 1 minute 30 seconds in town clothing.
:)
I stopped using the missthrower for this very reason and use a rifle on my Engi now.
I notice also that on my Guardian when I do the torch flame breath if anything touches me my Guardian aims at the sky and I get misses. I’m sure this also happened with the engi too so as well as constantly missing you have extra misses thrown in on top of that if an enemy hits you.
Would be nice. You have this pretty landscape then it gets marred by all these trails of green vomit puddles. If the legendary wielders want that let them have it but an option or checkbox to remove the effects would be used the second I got it.
