On the plus side, it’ll all be worth it if the new hairstyles float above their owner’s bald head.

Well if the Charr hairdo’s don’t and people are still running around with floating shoulderguards and shields etc. we will know exactly where their priorities lie. Obviously if these aren’t going straight into the cash shop then fair enough but I can’t see that happening.

Harpoon GUNS are ranged weapons and one type of combat. Spears and harpoons are melee weapons and another type of combat.

It is possible to think too deeply about stuff like this.

Guardians can use spears at range. Well first attack skill anyway.

And how many hundreds of players were waiting for hours with 8/9 achievements and needed one last Teq run to get the wings? The right thing to do would be to give the wings to everyone who was 8/9, like myself, imho.

Well if they do it like the Karka event even people who already have the wings will get another pair so I’m all for this. That way one of my alt’s can get them

I’m sick of destroying these too and those tickets for the last one. Anet please make it so we can sell these along with unused quest items, BLC and the Ascended materials to the merchants.

Even if they could only be sold for 1 copper a piece I wouldn’t mind as it would be a lot less annoying than having to destroy loads of items all the time. I also wouldn’t hate getting them as drops so much that way (and silently curse SAB when I do get them). Plus I’m sure 1 copper for these items won’t screw up the economy

Im quite sure that all servers can muster 100 ppl to defeat tequatl

Yeah most servers can…. the problem however is a not being able to kick all the Leechers who don’t even read Map Chat. Even in orr temple and wvw zergs you get dozens of these people who do nothing but suck & die. (a lot of them are Rangers & poorly geared Warriors if you look at Anet’s own Class demo put out recently)

Once all those people stop showing up, usually a decent server will succeed… assuming all of their people went +Power gear, and enough of them are using an Ascended

Don’t hate the player, hate the game.

Autotargetting and Grapes!

1. Since the description of Auto-target is – “If you use a skill with nothing targeted, the game will automatically select an appropriate target for you”. Ok, so since this auto-target often decides that bunnies, moa birds, boars and sparkfly are appropriate targets, could you please replace this broken (or stupid) checkbox with Target Nearest Enemy when you use a skill with nothing targeted? Even if it doesn’t target something daft like a bunny it’ll auto-target a monster not in the group I’m fighting but one about 50 feet away that’s not even aware of my presence. Worse than that sometimes even a boar 50 feet away.

2. I was doing the grapes quest in Queensdale and something that has annoyed me for a while was magnified by this quest. Every time I take grapes to the NPC I have to click “Here’s some grapes” then click a second speech option every single time. Can’t we have it so that after the first time we just give them the item and go collect more in these types of quests so we don’t have to click/say “Here are some grapes/or whatever” 20+ times?

Is the skill system too simple/boring?

Very much so. In this game with my main I’ve been using the same skill bar that I was using back in Oct. I change them around occasionally then revert and that’s about it. In GW1 my main had my all round build, a few dungeon builds, a build for when someone else was using the same elite as my main, blood is power build for the deep, AB, JQ etc. etc.

Some people say there were too many skills in GW1 but I’m not buying it, they were probably the ones that went straight to Ursan and Permasin. I was always trying out new builds with unused skills. Even when I asked others for their builds they would sometimes have a skill in there I wouldn’t have thought of combining the way they had. Then I’d try tweaking and improving on it with different skills than what they had used. In this game it’s just pick the best from your tiny supply and your set for the rest of your GW2 life on that toon. It’s sad when you compare the two

you are constantly feared, knocked back or down, pulled, immobilized and crippled. removing condition against some mobs like krait is a waste of utility since you are always under some condition and potentially even a sparkfly can kill you.

It is annoying and tbh it feels more like you are fighting harder to keep/regain control of your character than you are actually fighting the monsters.

Why does it constantly drop my targets?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Paul.4081

Paul.4081

1.) Targets just dropping
2.) Targets switching upon applying an AoE target area because an NPC/MOB/Player was underneath my mouse when I clicked (this makes large battles a targeting disaster)
3.) “Target Nearest” is the most effective tool I’ve seen in any MMO for targeting the farthest possible mob. To paraphrase what one player said “Target Nearest targets a mob in Azeroth”

Surely you must’ve also had the one where you have almost killed one enemy in a group and you get downed – cue change target for no reason to one with full health mode. Meanwhile the one with one hit left flees the scene before you can change back

Why does it constantly drop my targets?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Paul.4081

Add me to the list of target loser (originally with a MS mouse and now with my G700).

Recently my Thief lost a target (Tamini) as it ran over to my left and I stop firing. I thought, fine I’ll just use auto target and start on a new one in the group as I’m using a shortbow. What does my Thief do when I hit fire? Starts shooting at the original Tamini. Why did I stop firing in the first place?

I wish they would just make it that you never stop firing at enemies until they die, you cancel the attack or change target. Offscreen, into water, hiding behind a tree, on your shoulders etc. etc. you never stop shooting at them until one of you is dead or you cancel the attack yourself.

Wings of the sunless

Is there any reason why we can’t get these wings on our alt’s too? I hate playing favourites with my characters. My main got the holo wings because well it was the first back item I got. Then these wings come out so again my main gets them because they suit her armour more than the holo wings did.

I’d like to put them on my other toons too but I can’t. Anet surely want to sell character slots but things like this amongst others are off putting.

In GW1 we could get the same festive hat etc. on all of our characters so obviously Anet had to put a stop to the ability to be creative with all our toons and mix and match.

This is a free MMO.

You paid $60 for far more content than a single player game of equivalent price would provide…

Skyrim and it’s countless free mods say hello.

Far more shallow content than a single player game like GTA V

I wasn’t aware that GTA V was anything more than another generic sandbox in a giant sea of samey pseudo-realistic sandboxes.

As for Skyrim, I find it to be even more shallow than GW2. Not to mention, the Elder Scrolls series has degraded to a level of difficulty where you have to actively try to fail in order to lose.

I was replying to your post of “You paid $60 for far more content than a single player game of equivalent price would provide…”.

Thats what they do in GW2 if something needs to be harder they just make it have a billion HP.

That is exactly what I said last night while was everyone was auto attacking for 5 minutes and laughing at his health in map/say chat last night

When you check your inventory/salvage/open bags or talk to others in chat during a fight in a game then it’s not a very engaging fight. Or is it just me?

Seems to be a common thing these days. I quit BL2 because of UVHM. Not because it was hard but because loads of health on monsters is just tedium.

I agree with most of these comments on this topic , Respawn times are way too fast
especially when your killing dredge in dredgehaunt cliffs.

I had to ask for help getting the chest at Wormhowl Spikes with my level 30 Mesmer. The Sons of Svanir respawn rate there is ridiculous. It almost felt like I was killing one and two would come back at times.

Anet should should scale the respawn timers the same way they do with the champion difficulty etc. If there is only one player the respawn rate is slow but speeds up if more players show up.

A checkbox in options that said “Turn Off Unnecessary UI Garbage” would be lovely. Or even make it show for about 30 seconds when you enter a map and have it fade out until you move your cursor up to the top right.

Christ imagine trying to watch a film when the entire right side of the screen is saying “This is on the other channel, this film starts at 23:00” etc. You think Anet would like that on their TV’s when they were watching?

I just got a new gaming machine and am looking for a new MMO to enjoy. Is this it?

Don’t expect GW2 to run well on your machine. My comp. can run all the newest games and I can add multisampling and sparse grid anti-aliasing etc. using Nvidia Inspector. In GW2 without any AA (except SweetFX) it runs like a slideshow at times. LA is a consistent 20-30 fps.

I tried the jump puzzle in LA last night (the one where you drop down the chimney thing from the walkway above) and even in the water tunnel I was getting terrible performance when all that was on my screen was the tunnel and some fish. I think the engine is still rendering all the people above even though I can’t even see them or their names

Anet said they have people working on performance but it’s been 12 months and the game now performs worse than it used to. The performance did go up a little shortly after launch but I think that was the explosion of players calming down that caused that rather than changes made by Anet.

Crafting is a boring, tedious chore.

Karma nerf

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Paul.4081

Paul.4081

It’s a great idea, and A-net acted upon that, well half of it anyway.
They nerfed the amount of Karma you get from failing events, but didn’t buff the amount of Karma gained from succeeding events

Which, of course, now means that there’s no point in bothering to even try at the harder events that fail more often than they succeed (such as the reactor fire elemental event, which can easily bankrupt players because of repair costs, rez costs, and fast travel costs to get back to try again).

I’ve found myself doing just that levelling my alt’s. I’m avoiding the harder DE’s if I’m alone when normally I’d do every one I came across unless it was a champ.

Hey all,

I made a new Engineer yesterday and when I started I had two mail items, one was something to do with magic find removal (five items I think) and the other was continue coins for SAB. I skim read the mail but was planning to fully read/take items on my main Necro who is my spoiled toon that gets everything.

Anyway I had spelt the name wrong (Tyranosaurus instead of Tyrannosaurus if you’re interested :P) so I deleted that character to re-create with the correct spelling. When I got on with the new, new toon I noticed all the mail was gone.

So I was wondering if anyone can tell me what the magic find items were? I’ve sent support a message but if it’s just temp boosters or something I’ll cancel it.

http://files.harrowakker.webnode.nl/200000058-28fec29f90/EscherOmhoogOmlaag.jpg

I never felt like this with GW in 5+ years but as people on these forums are so fond of reminding us GW wasn’t really a MMO. Maybe that’s my problem, I’m just not a fan of typical MMO’s? All this hoop jumping/button pressing could be why this game doesn’t hold a candle to GW for me.

Someone else mentioned this too, the skinner box thing. It made me think “Why am I actually playing?” and was I even having fun? Turns out I wasn’t, I was just going through the mundane motions of jumping through Anet’s hoops and pressing the Pinata buttons (to give a specific example) for a treat and of fear of falling behind (silly in a “horizontal” game I know but it’s how I felt).

But that’s just me. I think it’s obvious that others enjoy it because Anet keep pumping it out and they keep doing it.

I laugh as well, a buggy mess like all Bethesda games is coming and somehow people think it will offer any kind of challenge for Guild Wars 2? Yeah right.

Except the game isn’t being developed by Bethesda. Don’t let facts get in the way of your ignorance, though.

Whats the saying, People in glass houses……GW2 had/has it’s fair share of bugs.

All I know is that in GW2 fighting a dragon = Stand in the same place and hit a foot.

In the last Bethesda (only got buggy for me when I modded it to hell and back) game, well, I didn’t hit many dragon feet or stand in the same place for the duration of the fight either especially with the harder dragons mod.

Which fight will people remember the most favourably I wonder? You seriously don’t think things like that will have an effect on peoples decisions?
