Probably because they play games to have fun and not have orders barked at them by some random nobody who for all they know is a 10 year old crybaby who’ll call them a “Noob” unless they bow to their every whim.

Im a returning player and was thinking about roling a new character to get me back in the swing of things.
Ive done warrior, mesmer and elementalist. Out of those id say mesmer was the most fun to play as (mostly PvE), warrior is definitly the easiest and most practical (in my opinion) for dungeons and other endgame stuff like that. Im thinking of roling a thieve next, opionions?

I rolled one of each profession and found the Engineer and Ranger the most fun to play (Engie was a bit slow to start until around level 30-ish though). Mesmers are quite fun too but again not until around level 30-ish. Guardians are decent, I have 2 (rolled a second one to get the Charr PS achieve) and don’t think I’ve ever died on either of them

Necro is my old faithful probably due to my stubbornness and since it was my main in GW has the lions share of my play time.

Elementalists are just garbage to me, I got one to 80 but they without a shadow of a doubt are the least fun profession by a coutry mile. Warriors were quite boring too and felt like chore.

Hope that’s helpful. All of the above is my opinion and not fact (pre-emptive strike there)

Edit. Forgot about Thief, one thing you might want to take into consideration is race. I found my human, sylvari and asuran thieves boring and ended up retiring them. When I rolled a Norn one I found it much more fun for some reason. This has happened with a few professions, race really makes a difference to professions for me.

The barman looks confused and thinking it must be a joke turns to the second fighter and forces a chuckle. “chuckle, Now sir what can I…..” The second Ascalonian holds up his shield and blocks too.

The barman is a little confused and annoyed by this point and expecting the obvious throws an empty tankard at the third Ascalonian. The third Ascalonian fighter is knocked out by the tankard hitting him in the face.

Even in some cases I just can’t be bothered and let myself die because downed doesn’t spark the do or die feeling I got from Borderlands 1&2. Suicide option would be great.

Or even an option in settings where you could get an additional 100 HP’s if you turn downed state off. Hell, +1 hp would be enough for me.

Och, we don’t even have alliances in this game to do alliance battles. I’ve said it before on GW2Guru but the multi guild feature feels like someone played GW for about 10 minutes and didn’t fully understand how alliances worked then implemented their version of it into GW2.

The guild part of the name I think was just to get bums on seats (for want of a better term). If they called the game Tyrian Warriors Olympic Grindfest to more accurately describe it, it would have gotten less interest no doubt.

I totally agree on the night being a little darker but if it was realistic darker. I’ve played on some games. Thief series (about to be ruined by Thief 4 – The Moron Age). Going full dark would be making a massive element of the game prone to to thieving and Anet would have to overhaul a lot, lets face it. If they made the nights darker without allowing thiefs to be thiefs. It would make thiefs laughable as agents of the night.

If they had thought of or could be bothered doing things like this from the start……

But we have SAB to compensate so fear not.

Either that or ANet would admit to the profession being wrongly named and should hae been named “Mugger!”

Should base movement be increased?

Paul.4081

I don’t know about base run speed, but…

Combat run speed
Long invuls on enemies
Snares and immobs
Long KDs

…have me gritting my teeth in virtually all PvE zones. There’s a point where they add a challenge and there’s a point where they add a needless but annoying delay in combat.

Also, Rangers, stop bringing passive Signet of the Hunt into dungeons.

Combat run speed is a pain especially as Norn and Charr. I think the combat would make more sense and have more fun to it if we got a 25% boost (adrenaline) when we went into fight mode. Instead our toons go into auto limp mode while the monsters laugh at us and don’t. As I posted similar in another thread it negates the point of casting limp in PvE when the monsters run faster than us while they are limping and we are not in many cases.

I think the fact that you can’t out pace an undead zombie with decaying muscles who you cast limp on is call enough for increased speed or at least the removal of the stupid combat slowdown.

Keep in mind, OP, that the world that you’re experiencing now, is what you can expect at 80. Your gear will be better, but you will still be scaled down to the appropriate level for a specific zone. Nothing is really different at 80, except that you will be pigeon-holed into a specific gear set up, and one of a few cookie cutter builds in order to maximize your effectiveness.

Begone troll. OP the game is whatever you choose to make it. Grumpy here is talking about a specific subset of the player base. Coming from WoW you’ll know the type when you see it.

You will be scaled but as you level up you will also unlock skills to pump up your power level a little vs a true level x. There are lots of helpful people in game, just ask around a bit.

lol @ grumpy but to be honest he has a point and I wouldn’t call him a troll simply for telling it how it is for many players. I’ve been using the same gear/build on my main that I was 8 months ago because with having alt’s it’s too expensive to play around with different gear for me. But that is me and I suppose if I’d focused solely on one toon things would be different but I’d also have gotten bored and no doubt quit by now in this scenario.

Paul.4081

1. What’s the average leveling speed? I’m not looking to powerlevel, but are you rushed in any way to get to max? It’s been a couple hours and I haven’t hit level 5 yet.

The leveling speed is more or less the same here at all levels, so you are maybe used to a system where the first levels go really fast but the later levels take forever. Here the first level seem to be a little slow in compare, but you maybe don’t need longer for 79-80 than from 4-5.

However leveling speed also has to do much with how many events you do since they give most of your exp.

There’s also dailies and monthlies which give good xp and if you can get dynamic events that are in the same area as heart quests you can get a double reward of xp. My first and main toon I took a lot longer to level up than my alt’s. First time round I was looking under every rock and behind every tree etc. but by the time I was on my 3rd alt. it was steamroll time. Best just to enjoy it rather than worry about how fast you get to 80 on your first toon.

Go to the world map M in game that’ll show you zones connected to your starting area and the recommended level. You can also go to Lions Arch from where you can get to the starter zones for Asura, Human, Charr and Norn for a change of scenery.

Thanks for your contribution!
Although one comment that i have to do im not considering these opinions as “trolls” people are disappointed indeed and people i know WILL leave if nothing good happens in gw2. But i havent lost my faith in Anet, not yet.

If I didn’t see it in official forums of pretty much every game I’ve ever played (or even in ANY creative medium), I’d be more worried about these dissatisfied masses and the state of the game they’re kittening on.

As it is… this forum is NOTHING out of the ordinary.

A lot of people complain because they want to see the game improve and get more people in (myself included). I didn’t spend 5 years in GW1 just to bash GW2 for the hell of it. It seems at the moment ANet are bailing water into a sinking vessel rather than out of at times though.

In an alternate universe I’d love to read the forums if ANet followed the manifesto to the letter, I wonder what the complaints would be like there?

My main is a Necro (Sylvari, also have a Norn Necro) as it was in the original GW. I’ve gotten the map completion star with her and if ever my guild is doing a meta boss train she is my go to gal. I’ve got 10 alt’s which were fun to play for a change (except my Ele which I just don’t seem to get or find fun, even though I took it to 80) but I feel most comfortable playing as a Necro, probably because I’ve spent the lions share of my time on GW2 playing her.

I’d say my other favourite professions in order are Ranger, Thief then Mesmer (currently getting Mes to 80, only toon not at 80). My Warrior and Guardians (2) were fun as was my lil Asuran Engineer but whenever new LS comes out I’ll go straight back to my Necro.
