Flower-shaped-fried-onion-dish glider confirmed!

Aye, right. Because that is going to happen.

Although… hmmm… food-related gliders? Who doesn’t want to soar over Tangled Depths in a glider shaped like a pulled pork sandwich or a platter of eggs benedict? ~lol~

It would be nice if the coin had some other use outside of SAB for when the event is not active. Say maybe a free teleport to LA or something? Yes I know you can go to the PVP lobby or WvW to get a free teleport to LA. This could just be a shortcut and 1 less loading screen. :P

Edit: actually Rata Sum would make more sense now that I think about it.

I have not seen the decorations besides the clouds yet as my scribe is still low. It’s a shame that the scribe changes are still a few weeks away as I could have levelled up some to get to those new decorations, oh well only a few more weeks!

In the meantime however I did unlock about 60-ish clouds so far. With those I have managed to add a duel winding staircase in the front of our guild. Imagine walking into a large house with the typical winding staircase up and the typical chandelier above. That’s kind of how it looks lol, the basic flagpoles make good support beams.

I’m making a stairway to heaven :p Time to get more coins

Haha that was my first thought/attempt too, just a shame we can’t recolour the clouds.

I now have officially the highest point in our hall… I should find some recording software and record the glide down… It takes about 3 and a half minute. And gliding in first person is simply awesome.

What the……that can’t be right lol….

I was thinking the same thing yesterday lol. I hate to mention other games and companies here on this forum but sometimes there is good reason to. Having said that, Jagex, the company that run Runescape also branched out into other smaller games and run them off a totally different site/platform. Pretty much you pay a subs there but that gives you access to all of their games.

For SAB however I should imagine maybe a once off payment and perhaps paying for any new worlds that come. Might be something for anet to think about in the future.

I would say it’s over and done with now thanks to all the people complaining after last year’s one. This is something that is becoming a thing now even in the real world. Google got hit with a similar issue this year with a minion gag they tried to pull off. People are just so touchy these days that businesses and such have to tread carefully.

It’s sad but I think it’s over in game now.

PS, this is a game so it is serious business anyway, you should NOT expect fun and games here. :P

Tbh I have to say you are at least 50% to blame here……there is just no way around it. Comms are important during such fights, even if you don’t reply back. Just knowing what is going on and where people need help is a pretty big thing. It’s really not THAT hard to multi-task in this game, not in this day and age anyway with what people are used to.

It sounds to me like you should probably go to a guide beforehand instead of “hoping” that people will be there 30 mins early to give you the info. I am not saying that the community is not helpful but a lot of people that do these events are usually doing all map metas and thus they only turn up just before it kicks off usually with only a few mins to spare. Yes it sucks for people like you but that’s just how it is I am afraid.

Done whole world 1 in tribulation without infinite coin. It’s 100% possible if you know how to jump and follow a video guide.

The shop from world 1 stage 1 is not really hard to get, it’s at the beginning and not even during hard/tricky part. The only things I hate in tribulation mode is the latency when you have to jump with these kitten rocks.

I have got it now and I think you may be on to something there with the latency. I am in New Zealand so an average ping of 200-300 is what I am used to. If only they would do to jumps (as well as a few other things such as jump pads, mushrooms etc) what they did with glider opening, that could solve a lot off issues for a lot of people.

While some people may say that HOT was small, lacking content, a fail or not worth the money asked for it. I think it was still a success. Sure even the profits might not have been as much as hoped for but for me personally and for the game overall I think it was a success.

Yes the story was super short and a lot of the content was tied into the mastery lines or meta events but I think most people over look the fact that some pretty big systems were put into place that wont need to next time.

Guild Halls is one that I am speaking of. The amount of work that must have gone into that boggles my mind. The size of the halls, the upgrades, all the “recipes” for each individual upgrade. Then there’s the arena, which is something that people have been asking for, for a long time and are even STILL asking for. Duelling but it goes so far more than simple duelling. Just imagine all the work that went into guild halls alone. How many people, how many hours? As I said above this wont be needed for the next expansion, not the core of it all at least anyway, perhaps maybe a new hall or 2. But still, a lot of the groundwork has been laid.

The mastery lines and that system. Again I should imagine a lot of work went into this. Like guild halls, the ground work has been laid all they need to do is add more in future. Ditto too with Elite specialisations.

Gliding, while this may seem like a small addition. It is a HUGE one in terms of gameplay and the freedom it gives the player as well as new ways to explore the old maps. Again, this is more groundwork laying. Just imagine how this feature can be used in not only any new expansion but anything added to the core game.

Yes there were negatives with HOT but I think this game is still alive and well and do still have high hopes for it. Lets just be patient, but still hopeful that Anet may come good on some of the wrongs that have been done, and yes there are some that even I am not too happy about. However I want to end this on a positive note. So with that being said:

Viva Las Vegas! Oops I mean, to Infinity and beyond! No, no, no that is still not right……ummmm, hey I swung my sword again, that’s great…Doh!

No, no, no, we need something……please, someone help me out here, what should GW2 catch phrase be!? (and please don’t say we will know “when it’s ready”…) O.O

The main game, you mean outside of SAB? It’s already there – Jump puzzles which is what SAB evolved from to become the ultimate JP.

Meh scratch everything I posted here. Completing those achieves and unlocking the tab on motto only gives you access to more furniture coins for baubles. This is all scribe related, so I am not sure if people would still complain over that instead (having to lvl up the craft to access these decorations).

But still, they could/should have explained it better, especially the text on the achievements themselves.

There are videos that walk you through it. The jumping portions really are not all that difficult. There were many people that completed both worlds last time using just regular coins.

My post and opinion still stands. I don’t care that SOME people can and do find this simple enough and that they make videos about it. They should not have hid these decorations behind an achieve that a very small % of the population will be able to do. Just imagine if they went ahead and put the regular guild hall decorations behind raids. Can you imagine the kind of feedback that they would get?

This is just another bad decision anet has made, they sure are making a lot of these recently it’s like they are pushing us to see just how far they can go lol….

Let’s be honest besides it being another chance to obtain the shinies/achievements from previous SAB events as well as the new wep set it is nothing much more than another opportunity for them to sell the Infinite coin….

That may sound harsh you may think, but is it, really? Let’s look at a what else is new besides the orange weps. A big selling point would be the guild hall decorations right? Well in order to get access to those tabs from Motto you need to find the furniture shops. And guess what, at least 1 of them is in tribulation mode. Unless you really want to lose your mind trying without the infinite coin you really have zero chance doing this.

I am trying for the trib furniture shop now in World 1 and let me tell you, its starting to get to me. Yes I caved and traded gold for gems to get the infinite coin. But that still does not make it much easier. There is always just that 1 or 2 jumps that will always get you. They have REALLY made it so you have to get those jumps absolutely perfect. If not, too bad.

So the point of this post? Moaning about having to buy the infinite coin to succeed easier at SAB? No. If anything the big selling point of SAB being about the new guild hall decorations when a good chunk of the population wont be able to get access to those (except the basic cloud) because of the fact they are tied behind having to do tribulation mode.

I wasn’t really a big fan of SAB in the past to the pint of joining the riot demands etc etc. But I did do enough to get pretty much all of the world one achieves and had planned to catch up doing the world 2 ones that I missed last time. But now, after facing this I am really not sure if I can stand the sight of it any more.

Anyone else hit the wall yet over this decorations issue? I expect more and more of these posts to arise soon enough if not already lol..

So, ty Anet I guess for bringing SAB back for those who have been asking for it. But no TY for hyping it up with the guild hall decorations and then hide them away where a good chunk of the population wont even be able to access them.

In before I get called out for falsely accusing anet of hyping anything up:

“But the thing that makes us happiest of all is the biggest feature we were able to add: SAB Guild Hall decorations! That’s right—now you can build your very own super adventures in your guild hall. We can’t wait to see your imagination unleashed! "

This is probably no fix for you but there is another way to get the dusts. Completing the HOT story gives you 20 dust per char. It only takes 1-2 days to complete the story if you know what you are doing. So if you have a lot of alts who are lvl 80 you could get some extra dusts this way. Not to forget to mention you also get a BLTC key as well as a lot of other goodies for doing the story (wep skins etc).

One element missing from gameplay

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Paulytnz.7619

Paulytnz.7619

Ummmm call me stupid or whatever but I have the opposite view than the OP on the game world especially central tyria.

That being even tho the world does seem sparse of real threats and that the mobs are spread out far and wide sometimes. I still think there are too many pointless mobs all over the place that really serve no point other than to hinder and annoy us at times.

I am not saying that I don’t like combat or want to avoid ALL mobs just to get o my goal. No, certainly not. What I am saying is what’s the point of having them EVERYWHERE or in between EVERYWHERE that you want to go to if they are indeed nothing more than a hassle, hindrance and will just take a little bit of time to deal with?

Sometimes it also just breaks immersion. I mean you are walking along and see various creatures just minding their own business and there could be a number of them and all different types. Just doing their thing, not fighting each other when they could/should be. But hello as soon as you come within range of them and indeed sometimes even out of sight of them it just does not matter. They will ALL instantly spring into life and chase you down until either you or they die. They will not engage each other unless you manipulate it in a way where they hit each other and that may only be possible if one of them ranges.

I say get rid of a LOT of the unneeded mobs that are just filler. Put some real content in their place (or more stunning visuals) and MOVE the mobs to places that are out of the way but are there for those who want to go and fight them. Update the mobs, move them and most of all work on their DROPS/REWARDS.

Have them be more of a challenge and possibly in groups/compositions that will challenge the players and make them worthwhile killing. I don’t know maybe the OP and myself are more on the same page than I thought but just looking at it from a different angle?

Remove the filler! Make the mobs seem worthwhile to kill and or more fun and not just a hindrance in my way trolling me just for the sake of it.

your top most annoying bug ever to exist...

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Paulytnz.7619

Paulytnz.7619

There’s a few things that annoy me….

1 – Not a bug but game design that is super annoying. That is the selling limit on the TP. Now I am not a bot or even someone who crafts a heck of a lot so I don’t see this too much but I do when I craft. As I craft in surges. Meaning I gather resources and save them up over a period of time and then when I have a ton I will level a craft up. Sometimes from maybe lvl 1-400 for example. And the way I do it is I HAVE TO unlock every recipe in the discover panel. Thus I make hundreds of items and trying to sell them all on the tp can be a huge nightmare because of that “feature” that is there to stop bots. It’s always the innocent ppl who get punished because of the baddies.

2 – Actual bug – Engi Rocket Boots Utility skill F key use. You are running along, hit this skill to rush forward but hello, all of a sudden you have stopped moving. NEVER good when in PvP or WVW when chasing someone or running from them. I have a feeling there may be a couple of causes for this. 1 either uneven ground or 2 it does not play nice with the auto run feature.

3 – Gathering as an Engi while wielding your flamethrower kit – Facepalm, nuff said.

4 – Oh also some times there is a bug that has me stuck auto running in a diagonal direction. No idea what causes this as it is totally random and happens very seldom. A quick out to char select fixes it.

Black Lion Salvage Kit Thought...

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Paulytnz.7619

I thought the main purpose of these kits was that they give you the rune/sigil back 100% of the time. However I have heard from a friend recently that this has not been the case, maybe a recent bug? But if they were not bugged I would say this bonus alone is good enough for them.

Like the poster above me stated I too have never purchased one of these but they are now starting to take up bank space from the log in rewards and drops from bltc chests (again I don’t buy these either). They are taking up about 9 bank slots for me atm.

Engi’s finally need a good burst weapon and I feel this could be it. So lets make it happen. :P

Skill 1 – A fast attack with no conds.

2 – spray and pray, much like ranger longbow 2 (very fast attacks) but it will add no conds and will spray in an arc in front of you hitting multiple targets.

3 – “say hello to my little friend” – pull out a second tommygun and go skill 2 all over again but this time hitting more people and for longer.

4 – Smack your enemy with the butt of your weapon to knock them back, afterwards reload the clip and quickly fire at them.

5 – Stand and look over all your dead foes and feel satisfied with yourself.

What do you need to keep playing GW2

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Paulytnz.7619

Paulytnz.7619

I was going to say something similar to what Just a a flesh wound said but saw he beat me to it. How can you be bored of the classes if you have not even reached cap lvl yet? O.O

I just find this statement strange and confusing. I have all classes to 80 and they all got there by doing their world completes which by the way you hit 80 about halfway through that within 2 weeks if you do just 1 map a day. Doing the maps gives you enough variety and new things to see/do so you really are not even bothering to worry about repetitive combat styles. Are you even levelling up this way or by doing events or are you simply trying to lvl up how other games do it (sit in 1 spot killing the same mobs over and over and over). Sorry but that just had to be asked….

Having said all that, even before you DO hit 80 there is tons of variety to each class. Each have multiple weapons (which in most classes you can switch in and out during combat for advantages and more mixing up!) they can use and builds through trait lines that you can mix up now and then. Personally on all of my alts I have ALL weapons that, that class can use stored in their inv in a special bag which will not let them sell them etc just so I can play around with all their options to mix it up and to see any effects any game updates have done to those skills. You could try doing this as well and trying all of their weps as well as build options.

One thing I can tell you is that I have pretty much stayed away from meta builds since day one and have pretty much noticed that I have about 99% of the time played my classes different to most other people. I can see it through what weps and skills they are using as well the differences in who stays alive longer or kills quicker etc. One last tip – STAY AWAY from those meta sites and then you wont have that issue of playing your char/class the same as most other people lol.

Expelling Guild Leader, is it possible?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Paulytnz.7619

Unless you guys have known this leader for a great deal of time and he has only just gone to playing like this for some certain reason I would say the whole thing sounds suspect.

It could be 1, he originally created the guild hoping for people to just join and donate stuff that he could use for himself. Thus goes into hiding so he does not have to deal with people asking questions or anything. Or 2 it could be the account owner has been hacked or sold the account or something.

Either way it sounds like a crappy deal for you and your friends. I would suggest as others have here and either found a new guild yourselves or look for a far better one.

The ones that have the ability to return, moves you from PvE to outside PvE (WvW, PvP, instances). They return you to your previous PvE spot once you’ve gone outside PvE and you go back. If you move from PvE to another spot on the PvE map, it doesn’t have the ability to remember your previous PvE location and waypoint you back.

You can also add the Guild Hall to this list. You can “Leave Hall” via the guild menu to return back to your previous location.

Doing PvP again now as I am sure a lot of people are and yes still dealing with this age old problem. No less than 10 whispers yesterday in fact. Which can be very annoying when you are in the middle of a PvP fight.

What are you on about? I dual wield two ascended swords with no issue.

I would say this is about rings and accessories where if you want the same stats you have to have at least 1 offence and 1 defence and can’t have both offence for example.

If support can not help you there is always the upside that they are account bound so an alt if you have one or a future alt could still benefit from this mistake.

I’m sorry but this is really bugging me. His name is Snaff, not Zaff, OP.

Lmao, so sorry I knew it was but was typing so much at the time with a lot of thoughts in my head that the basics may have been overlooked, will def fix that now!

I just think the group could do with an extra male. Like I said if you ran through the LS2 more than once (as I have on a lot of alts). You start to notice just how much the female population out numbers the male.

But if it were the opposite, with males outnumbering females (as it is often the case) it would be perfectly fine?

There really isn’t any surprise that Anet would go this route. It’s a formula that seems to be required in today’s entertainment.

They were always ahead of that wave, you know.

Certainly not. It if was reversed and too many males I would also make that something to discuss. Like I said about movies, when you have say a war movie for example when all the cast are males that too can get very boring. But in those cases obviously if they are dealing with things of that nature based on history you come to expect it. Yet they can always do flashbacks or story telling out side of the war side of it where they can add in female chars as well.

Let’s make this clear, it’s not a male vs female thing here. It’s a hey I see what you did there anet, that’s clever but maybe just slightly off?. Yet as I have conceded in another reply, Taimi’s Char could actually be mirroring off Snaff since he was the legit member and not Zojia. I have not read the books so tbh I was only basing my theory off what the game has given us.

I think this post has gone off topic and not where intended. Some of you people seem to be making this personal or based on your own personal experiences. In which case I would say that sucks these things are like that. But again I think it’s still more a culture thing and just remember not EVERYONE here is from the USA or has all the problems that you do.

Mods, please feel free to close this thread since it has gone far off topic.

Thoughts lol?

A classic case of over-thinking something relatively trivial.

You say it doesn’t bother you, yet you went to the effort of analysing the group content so clearly it DOES bother you.

Umm, I have 11 chars and had just done the LS2 on my 7th one. Do you really believe after doing this content so many times that someone would not see such a pattern if they are observant at least some of the time?

I brought this here few a few reasons.

1 – To see if other people had noticed it.
2 – To see if it was done this way on purpose by Anet and if so why (the gender swap not the Taimi part)?
3 – And 3 finally the Taimi part and why she didn’t get the same treatment as everyone else?

Meah, you don’t really do anything. Just rez people to fight for you.

Not true if you go for that 1 achieve where YOU have to kill them all as bunny. A friend and I went in to do this but sadly she disconnected numerous times so in the end I had to solo them all. I can say it’s certainly do-able without the cheats that the wiki advises(which I think have been fixed now anyway). Just pull a bunny at a time to your spawn point and suicide on him as many times as needed to kill it. But man that Alpha takes a LONG time.

And yes I agree with the OP, this mission was awesome. Kind of a pain on later alts tho when you have done it 5+ times before lol. But still, fun none the less.

Throw in a Tengu (any gender)! Why? Because the Tengu have begun to understand they need to take part in the fight against the elder dragons and start tasking their best mercs to show everyone how the birds handle things.

You might be on to something here as I think I am yet to see a female Tengu….must be MORE observant!

At least it came up a little. Zojja is only an honorary member of Destiny’s Edge. Snaff is the actual Asuran member. Zojja was just his apprentice and probably not a complete member, especially since they basically broke up immediately after Snaff died.

She takes his place when you put them all back together, but based on Snaff, the redistribution works just fine for Taimi. Also, I guarantee that the Devs noticed that distinction.

Aha you might be right here and could explain the Taimi exception. So let’s just HOPE that she does not die and then get replaced by a male. Because like most people I do actually like her. Despite the fact she seems far too small compared to my human players even if she is just a progeny.

I hope with the next expansion that Destiny’s Edge 2.0 story arc will be finished. The gender really doesn’t matter to me. I just didn’t think they were very interesting characters. I think a new crop of npc’s could add some spark to the game.

I have just gone through the LS2 again on one of my alts and I kind of see what you are saying. Actually some of the cast seems less involved or didn’t really do anything. This continued over into HOT as well it seems. Especially with Kasmeer and Marjory. Perhaps they have just been bringing in too many new chars or telling so many stories at once some seem out of the picture or getting less story time?

This could explain some of the reasoning for some chars getting killed off too. So they can focus more on certain chars and take the stories into new directions. Maybe you will get your wish.

Maybe it’s because your thread hit a nerve.

Maybe you’re only joking but the underlying thought behind what you’re saying is sexist and is something men have said, and still say to this day, to exclude women from jobs. Too many women, let’s hire some men. Disk jockeys on radio station have reported that if they play more than a few female singers in a time period, there have been men that call and demand more male singers.

If you don’t believe it’s sexist, try this thought experiment. Let’s say this group of NPCs are a mix of black and white and someone jokingly makes a post on the forum saying, there are too many blacks in this group. Can’t we switch one of them to white?

So, you’re undoubtably joking but too many women is something I’ve heard too many times in real life to find particularly amusing.

Wow, that’s pretty intense.

It might sound “intense” to you, but that makes it no less true. I can’t count the number of times anymore where I have played a game (or read a book, or watched a film) with a party that was five-ish dudes and a token woman, usually the mage/healer/ranger (or equivalent), and I internally squeal every time there’s more than one female character present.
And personally, I find it pretty funny how games can be total sausage fests and no-one bats an eye, but as soon as the numbers are reversed, it suddenly becomes a big deal to some… frankly, to me as well, but mainly because it makes me happy to see it done for a change.
And usually, it becomes a (negative) big deal to the same crowd who tend to very vocally shout down anyone tentatively asking if, maybe, we could have a few more women in video games, seeing as we play them too and all? The mental gymnastics done by some people will never cease to amaze me.

tl;dr: What Just a flesh wound said.

Tbh the reason you usually see more male chars in games than females (especially in the leading role) was obviously because the target audience and majority of those games/styles were males. Of course this is all changing and has been for the past 10+ years even. No one is here saying “get rid of all these females and ONLY have males”.

Again I think some of you are taking this far too far and are getting a bit too defensive. Again I think it maybe a cultural thing.

No one seems to have commented so…

Zojja and Mr. Sparkles – Female and Male

Taimi and Scruffy – Female and Male

There, politically correct distribution. :P

Honestly though, who cares?

I’m surprised no one brought up that Zojja ( F ) was apprentice to Snaff ( M ) who made the grand heroic sacrifice. Men… Always getting immortalized ( Snaff Prize #asurabeginnings ) and women? Meh.

But seriously I enjoyed this thread.

Lol keep digging DGraves I am sure you can find more than me! I am not really one for the Lore here too much, wasn’t too interested in it in GW1 either tbh. So keep it coming! :P

Ty, I did miss that, but again it does fit into my theory lol. And I care, like I just said in the post above yours – what is wrong with spotting all the hidden things that Anet put in the game!?

What is wrong with bringing to light a possible hidden comment on society that a game company might have put in the game? It’s like they say about publicity, there is no bad publicity. If it brings to light certain things and then for discussion then what is wrong with that?
