Been There, Done That & Will do it again…except maybe world completion.

I think toughness isn’t neccesary ingame, but if you do bring it make sure you have something else to add to party…
Full trailblazer necro will still kill very effective, and can keep aggro..
I have a mistrel.cleric guardian as well I used it before for WvW, but I am using it for fractals where we sometrimes have ppl who cannot stay alive. I use the build for perma protection and long regens on top of healing symbols, AOE virtue of resolve and healing dodges.
I’ll have aggro and can out heal most DPS sources as longa s I’m not spiked with conditions. If suffering a lot of conditions I need to take a secondary armor with soldier runes, allwoing me to clean ~26+ conditions/ min AOE. Losing only minor healing capability.
Toughness has use but in most cases I’d take a DPS, DOT or DPS/support build.

I think I never had less than 50 gold a day when I ran dungeon tour nightly before. I made a legendary-level purchase every month in the past year. So I’m pretty confident that dungeons were very profitable to semi-casual players. Since HoT, we had much more demands than supply – if you look at the hiking price of all the materials and commodities. If dungeons had still been a profitable source of gold, I shudder at the thought of how the TP price would become. I suppose nerfing liquid gold is the right call, I just don’t agree with the severity: 40-50% would be more in line with the time spent grinding out dungeons. Even the old GW1 dungeons have better loot to justify its duration.
Well you and I both know the LIQUID rewards and the TOTAL rewards can be prety far apart, dungeon specific Exotics and lucky dops tend t add good value, 1-3 rares a path are mostly rule not exception. and of course the tokens can be used to buy rewards at the dungeon vendor (Pieces for dungeon specific trinkets/components for legendary/ salvageable exotics…)
And the dungeon specific runes tend to have place inside the meta sometimes (Aristocrat, nightmare and monk all have niche (or better) uses)
40 gold is normal having, but my 146 slots full after 1 full run of AC (read p1,2,3) as well. Normally I should have 125 slots free, calculating further:
SO runnin 25 paths should be ~800-1000 drops most being white, blues and greens, and crafting mats. I’d expect ~20-50 rare’s and 5-10 exotics from drops…
(edited by PaxTheGreatOne.9472)
I really don’t get it. OP is complaining about “bring 1.5g back”. Arah rewards 1.25g per path, and it’s almost always empty. Has 25 silver made 99% of the players move to some other part of the game? Gib explanation pls
ORIGINAL Dungeon rewards were:
Night Set:
(daily fast dungeon sets) (total 12 paths for 16,62 gold and various tokens, 9 lvls worth of XP (2,25M XP))
AC (Daily (Night set) 1,2,3)1.5 g daily/path + 40 tokens and 26s + 20 tokens
for combined 1.76g + 60 /path * 3 =5gold 28 + 180 tokens
TA (Daily (Night set), FW,UP 1.0 gold daily/path + 40 tokens and 26s + 20 tokens
for combined 1.26g + 60 tokens * 2 = 2 gold 52 + 120 tokens
SE (Daily (Night set), 1,3 1.0 gold daily/path + 40 tokens and 26s + 20 tokens
for combined 1.26g + 60 tokens * 2 = 2 gold 52 +120 tokens
CoF (Daily (Night set) 1,2 1.0 gold daily/path + 40 tokens and 26s + 20 tokens
for combined 1.26g + 60 tokens * 2 = 2 gold 52 +120 tokens
CoE (Daily (Night set), 1,2,3 1.0 gold dail/path + 40 tokens and 26s + 20 tokens
for combined 1.26g + 60 tokens * 3 = 3gold 78 + 180 tokens
Normal Dungeon tour
(consists of all dungeons, and thus includes the Night Set)
Consists of 10 paths 18 gold 10 , and 7,5 lvls of XP (~1,85 M XP)+
Night set: (12 paths for 16,62 gold and various tokens, 9 lvls worth of XP (2,25M XP))
CM (Daily (Dungeon tour) 1,2,3 1.0 gold daily/path + 40 tokens and 26s + 20 tokens
for combined 1.26g + 60 tokens * 3 = 3gold 78 + 180 tokens
HotW (Daily (Dungeon tour) 1,2,3 1.0 gold daily/path + 40 tokens and 26s + 20 tokens
for combined 1.26g + 60 tokens * 3 = 3gold 78 + 180 tokens
Arah (Daily (Dungeon tour) 1,2,4 3.0 gold daily/path + 40 tokens and 26s + 20 tokens
for combined 3.26g + 60 tokens * 3 = 9gold 78 + 180 tokens
Arah Daily (Dungeon tour) 3 1.5 gold daily/path + 40 tokens and 26s + 20 tokens
for combined 1.76g + 60 tokens
(Complete dungeon tour)
Normally skipped paths from night run sometimes done for Complete Dungeon Tour
~5 gold and 4 silver combined and 2 lvls woth of experience ~0.5M XP)
(And added the Normal dungeon tour (which includes the night dungeon tour)
Total Reward of all available dungeon paths would add up to
~40 gold, and 18,5 levels worth of XP. (4.6M XP) and various tokens
SE (Daily (Night set) 2 1.0 gold daily/path + 40 tokens and 26s + 20 tokens
for combined 1.26g + 60 tokens
CoF (Daily (Night set) 3 1.0 gold daily/path + 40 tokens and 26s + 20 tokens
for combined 1.26g + 60 tokens
TA (Aetherblade) (Night set) 2.0 gold/daily + 40tokens(if I’m right) and 26s + 20 tokens
for combined 2.26gold + 60 tokens
From these 40 gold now only 16.6 gold remains on 25 paths on average this is ~64 silver /path (~4 silver travel cost to dungeon, powerful potion of X-slaying: ~10 silver, food 20-50 silver… gains would be less then .25 gold on average/ path now most paths being 10-15 minutes when running efficient, some dungeons (arah for example) tend to cost more time…. 25 times 10-20 minutes would be ~6.5 hours…..
Old situation: 40 gold in 6.6 hours is 6 gold/hour
New situation: 16.6 gold in 6.6 hours is 2,5 gold/hour
Modernized Fractals (incl. chests and keys): daily 20-24 gold with investment of ~4-6 gold. in 1, maybe 1.5 hours for 9,5-20 gold/hour (LIQUID!)
Guess fractals will be nerfed next cause of excessive liquid rewards…
Sorry for bad calculations but this was the best I could do in a short timeframe, from head, with my daughter drinking her bottle on 1 arm, and my Tablet on the armrest of the couch.
edit: removed some nasty layout problems and copy/paste errors….

Did fractals 67,77 yesterday and faced mossman and in lvl 67 1 gut an up the tree, 4 of use said well why not, do we stood there dps’ed a bit and the 4 ppl who moved up said well the DPS is lower let’s go down, we all jumped off, and killed it in field, the guy who initiated move to the tree died 3 times and got downed at least 5 times more… the remining players killed him, we started 77 got to mossman and started infield again, the treeman raged: we should be stacking in the tree and consequently ragequit, we killed him 4 man on 77 faster then on 67 with part in the tree. The tree is a serious loss of DPS with projectiles and in some cases melee attacks not hitting due to interupted LOS and so on. It"s really really bad compard to the pole and the pole was a borefest as well…
Free your char and the rest might follow!
Don’t be parr and think so shallow….
Swiftly kill him in the open fields
with dodges, reflects and shields
And be a good player, like now and all tomorrows!!
(edited by PaxTheGreatOne.9472)
Well on my condition characters the efficient functioning of conditions is my main issue, the duration of boons is something I find less interesting then toughness or power (depending on the field of play) might could be nice , but a boon lengthened bountiful sharp, +20% boon, might on crit PS/EA warrior is much better at it then me using a sigil of strength…
(I could see your suggestion work on engineer, but if you’s have expertise, condition dmg and concentration what would you want as 4th stat? healing? toughness? power? precision?
Oh and I use the new and improved Nomads armor, it works wonders on my armor on my guardian (I use clerics for trinkets & weapons (transference and endurance or stamina) and 3 pieces of Minstrels armor (other still clerics) with Monk runes
This combined with Bountiful sharps and Delicious riceballs is my support build.
+35% boon duration on warhammer/ MAce/Focus or +55% on staff.
+10% outgoing healing 3 times… (monk, transference, riceballs) for a lot of healing
1789 healing power, 1997 toughness, 1841 power and 1141 vitality
You can facetank the vulcanic shaman endboss with 4 zerks as long as you mind your own conditions. No need tro range, no need to dodge except the single attacks directly after him been removed from invulnerability, Works up to 63 without any problems, still waiting to make more armor to add more AR.
Changing the stability shout to WoR (wall of reflect) will help a lot above 50.
It’s not my main as you can imagine.
(edited by PaxTheGreatOne.9472)
you only get told if you unlocked the recipe on your sepcific characters, I have maxed crafting spered on 4 characters, yes before additional licences were issues I had them maxed (Well 400 acually) nowadays I get msgs you have this unlocked, but all the breaters from fractals are instantly deleted nowadays, I’m not going to check if I still need breather x for character x,y,z.
Didn’t do first raid. Don’t care for it ingame. Same feelings about mounts.
We should be asking for flying mounts, our characters can kinda fly now anyways
If you can fly yourself: Why do you need to sit on a creature???
AHHhhh, Mounts…
- Where did I put it….. ? Ah found it!!!
It’s mostly because this needs a use else I might actually forget where I put it (-not!-) ….
So if you never seen it before in this thread or any posts rergarding the forbidden subject I present to you:
(edited by PaxTheGreatOne.9472)
Dungeons are more then facroll easy, and because of the nerf in gold rewards the only ppl playing dungeons are the few people needing a gift from the dungeons fot their legendary.LFG for dungeons = empty. not like 5 or 6 posts, but 1 or 2 posts during primetime… Dungeons = DEAD
Fractals have been “improved” to make sure you can do whatever fractals for daily is
low tier (1-20):
mid tier (21-50):
high tier ( 51+)
1,2,3: 56, 67,77,83 (choose 3) being: swamp,swamp,swamp.
So if you be looking to be swamped in swamps you are good.
Guild halls are a main reason why WvW is in a sorry state, if you do not have a guild for wvw, you’ll likely do not have acces to buffs in WvW. Desert borderlands are a fail.
Meta devolved to Pirate ship with AOE ranged spam being the new for of combat. You do not have any sustain in the AOE fields so Melee is (mostly) non existent nowadays. expanding guild halls to a usable stat is EXTREMELY expensive, as is scribe tyhe associated proffesion to a point where A-Net promised to change this
PvP I do not have an opinion, but people used inexperienced players to speedlevel PvP ranks, meta is a limited number of rediculously overpowered builds as I hear…
HoT (expansion) brough a piece of Living story, and the masteries whcih are nice, but require a lot of effort to level (accont bound) Specialisations tend to be OP and reduced the reasons for people to play the oldstyle proffesions (at least for DPSin most cases) Herald (or revenant) is not my favored proffesion.
Some bright notes
Lastly if you left at the introduction of fractals and have not done LS S2 (pay wall 1600 gems) you will have plenty of new content to come back to. You will have seen southsun cove, but likely never been to Silverwastes or Dry top, you will have likely not had any time to get ascneded gear, wchih is replacing exotics slowly, at least for fractal fanatics and Raid enthousiasts, a lot o new skins were introduced and Silverwaste, and Orr remain nice places to farm for cash (now dungeons cannot provide any), Getting HoT will expand your endgame content with 4 new Meta event maps and a lot of new collections and grind ways to get stuff. You’ll likely be working to get everything for quite a while. If you are into it. 3 new legenadries have been added (axe, pistol and a staff)
We are waiting for introduction of legendary armor and backpacks. Likely rings will come not too long after these. we are waiting for way more but well see.
Raids
HoT brough raids. I have no opinion about raids, I would have favored dungeons tbh.
The end
(edited by PaxTheGreatOne.9472)
The Necrotic factor is strong in this one, but the thread shows some serious precognition, the force was strong in this one….
I think I would rephrae my last post and say I’d dred the introduction of
power, precision, condition dmg, condition duration builds
Oh wait We already have them in the new Meta builds: Viper… And they are OP as they shoved all other hybrids aways, removing the need for carrion, rampager and sinister in 1 go (except for a very small niche)
now wait for the
power, precision, healing. boon duration for healers/tanks removing need for zealot and clerics in PvE
well then
power, precision, ferocity, boon duration for DPS booners (PS warriors, combat guards, revenant and so on) not removing the need for zerk, but adding a layer for high DPS buffing. add a bountiful sharp +100 power, +10% boon duration and food: +20% boon duration and +70 power and you’re done.
effectively making the whole PvE world 1 ultrabuffed dps zerg fest, only not by use of food this time, permanent: also without the use of foods.food would just enhance th builds further.
We’ll see what A-Net conjures up next time.

I just logged into fractals a few days ago and said: Hi ppl!
I had a guy in say chat responding: You are using water, why? You need to take dagger and warhorn.
I’ve ran staff ele for a long time now, I’m used to the rotations and know the skills, If I make mistakes it’s mostly due to a fatfinger.
So I asked how can you tell I use water? I was in fire attunement, so he couldn’t have noticed soothing mist.
His answer was GW2DPS.
Interesting how a DPS tool with no acces to the ingame systems can tell him I’m using Fire/Water/Tempest instead of Fire/Lightning/Tempest.
I felt annoyed and left the group I did lvl 83,77 and 67 fine on my fire/water/tempest build with the group directly below the first one in LFG.
I play because I like it I do 80+ fractals daily as a casual, and I get more and more fanatics whining my builds are not meta enough. I stay alive most of the time and water gives me an interesting edge often keeping me and my group alive if something goes wrong and an AoE condi cleanse on swap to water proves usefull regularly, and AoE heal over time for a short while if needed, not interfering with regen tends to be a help in maintaining a healthy party.
Pure DPS is nice but sometimes ppl should look further then the couple 100 DPS lost. I have had somany parties only focussing on DPS only to get downed or even die due to nobody having acces to cleansing or boons other then might and if I’m lucky fury.
Regen, protection, aegis, stability and cleansing seem to be a bad thing…. as seem condi builds doing blinds and weakness…. reflects, and control…
Yes it will be 15 seconds slower on boss, but you’ll be alive….

Enthousiast PC’s/ Workstations:
Intel is making 8 core and 10 cores as well,
AMD also makes 8 cores for the enthousiast marked,
Prices are widely apart though.
intel asking US $ 450-1500 dollars / cpu and
AMD asking US $129-270 .
Per clock/core amd delivers about 75% of the performance, but intel has acces to HT allowing for 12-20 threads while AMD still suffers from less FPU units. With the introduction of directx 12 in new games AMD will recover slightly is the expectation, but for below directx12 games intel will reign superior.
WorkStations (High end) and Servers
For the unclockable region both
intel and AMD make CPU’s with 12,16
(max opteron (16 core) sells for US $1200 max 8 per system),
and intel moved on: 18 ,20, 22 and even 24 cores
(intel’s 24 core sells for US $ 6700, max 4 per system),
These CPU’s are meant for server and ultra end workstations ( fancy a 19 inch rack next to your table?) Systems can be coupled to form bigger machines in both cases.
These lines are named Xeon E3,E5 and E7’s processors for Intel and Operon processors for AMD
So PC’s are not limited to 6 or 8 processors anymore, If you have the funds and can drop $ 50000 and can afford the power bill for your PC and the new airconditioning system you could place a nice 96 core Monster with 1 Tb of memory in your house Make a nice stack of HDD’s and you should be good. I doubt you would notice the difference between 980Ti’s and Titans on the final receipt. If you can find a motherboard with PCI-E slots
You could host cloudservices for all ppl in your street/town on your PC AND STILL PLAY GW2… if you wanted to,
Just have someone place a nice glasfiber with 2 or 4 bands of 10 Gbit. lagging out due to congestion would be a real shame
(edited by PaxTheGreatOne.9472)
we had the 6 gods in gw1, 7 if you’d count kormir, whe have the 6 dragons in gw2, glint’s legacy could retake a place.
the effort is moving to a city once in a month ??
10 gold for an ascended back????
Most ascended backs cost either 1 or more stacks of t6 and/or ecto’s and more often then seldom the backs cost 100(’s) of gold…..
10 gold should get us a nice exotic lvl 80 with an exclusive skin (lols) and stat selection…maybe even an infusion slot…. Don’t expect more at this time.
I have some idea’s what could be done:
This should restructure the game to a more accesible story line, and creating a interesting group of instanced content being dungeons/fractals and raids instead of what it is now being bad fractals and no dungeons and a really really bored raid core.
Just try…
I personally do not have any problems with the present system, I have had 23 characters in total, 3 deleted ones (at least ones which lasted for more then a couple of months) so I’m not counting Key farming chars, or transmutation farm chars, 20 of these actually finished all story, 19 had all WP’s and all HP’s, 9 have full map…
I tomelevelled about 7 or 8 of all 23. Some had a headstart (lvl 20(/30) scroll) in the end I found I kept the characters I actively levelled more active and was more familiar with builds and effective rotations. As for my experience with mapping:
So I foresee problems…. at least in certain parts of the game… where I can imagine :
I understand WvW and PvP players will objet to me saying this but I am looking at ppl with >1000 AP and just creating their 3 main characters after 1 char rushed world. At this time 90% of the players is below 3300 AP…. 60% of the players is below 1000 AP and to make sure ppl play the game as such I’d suggest an added requirement….
Unlock Suggestion:
I’d suggest:
Map Unlock will cost 1 gift of exploration/char and forfeit all map completion bonusses
(so no transmutation charges from cities, no black lion keys, no 40 mats, no armor/weapon drops and lastly no gift of exploration)
So 1 fully explored map on 1 character will buy you 2 free explores and no added gain other then just opening all waypoints, not even PoI’s or HP’s with an added restriction:
For easy acces to end level PvE content I’d rather see:
ALL the Portals to Fort Trinity opened up…. at the moment the first character on an account got his lvl 60 (the battle for claw island) or 70 (defend for trinity) story done to ease acces into ORR (70-80)
This leaves the Dungeons and Forstgorge relatively distant, but all those maps can be accessed within a span of 2-3 hours. (AC,CM,TA all being in starter area’s, only distant ones being COF and HotW, and SE and CoE accessible fast via Fort Trinity )
This might leave the acces to area’s for guild missions (treks/bounties/world bosses) a little harder, but I do not see why the whole game should be instantly unlocked… if you want to play a specific game mode you should explore and unlock it.
An Explorer.
Note: I modded my previous post, I know some hardcore PvP and WvW players, I think they should /could work with 2 unlocks of WP’s per 1 actual World complete, as long as they could accept the fact they’ll not recieve Gifts of Exploration.
(edited by PaxTheGreatOne.9472)
No…
Unlocking all maps, would that mean:
if you’ve entered any value above 1 -> pls move to the next game.
9 times map and 8 times all Heropoints and Waypoints… 18 times story.
-edit : added italic section

If someone whirls in a lightfield condi’s are cleansed on allies. the whirl nexs to be executed in the lightfield, and it will release some projectiles, I have the idea only the ppl hit wil be affected, so the closer you are the bigger the chance of succesfull cleansing.
I use this with some ppl when playing hammer guard vs Mai Trin. protection an cleanse makes it easy and secondly I get goot heals fromthe symbol as well.
cause a jewel is considered a replacement for a rune? and you are placing it in a sigil slot?
Cobalt is a names lvl 80 Exotic greatsword, when it is transmuted it can only accept sigils of it’s level or lower (minor = lvl 0 min, major = lvl 39 min, exotic = lvl 60 min.

Star Wars franchise is owned by another company (Disney.) it being indirect competition should make ppl think and not ask to interfere.
Why can’t you be happy just playing in Tyria, instead of having to hop sideways to The Old Republic?
It’s not like it’s gw2 needs: “Help me Dev-The-One-and-only, you are my only hope.”
And don’t get upset, and don’t fear it never be implenented.
“Fear leads to anger, anger leads to hate and hate leads to suffering.”
(Just as a reminder check the spirit names of the Ritualist in Gw1.)

even fresh maps can be brought to life by doing events till 20% then porting in ppl. having a few ppl with mentor/commander tags tends tro be helpfull
Well the longbow tends to fit very well into sylvari lore IMHO… nice and planty and it seems perfectly adapted to any sylvari, male or female. I doubt however if it would fit the dark warrior concept, but then again, there’s Twilight for lovers of the dark.
I think the legendaries fit a character or you need to look on…
The screaming unicorns feels nightmarish if you consider it.
Even though some find the colors deafening and the unicorns resembling my little pony.
just consider:
You can play a huge if not all parts of this game being glass, but sometimes it is refreshing and relaxing to play something a bit less squishy.
I also have a Minstrel/Cleric Guardian build (upgraded from nomad/cleric) and a trailblazer/rabid Necro terrorreaper, because I can. They are easy mode. and very nice if you do not need to be sharp 100% of the time, or just running with some noobies and just want to tank dmg.
well seemingly problem 1 is the fact you have a ring of 1200 and at least 2 proffessions able to shoot 1500 range. in both cases staying outside any danger area’s.
The fact you’re on a house really doesn’t matter tbh. you cannot be hit. -The End-
If using skills the way they are intended is an exploit now they should really reconsider their game… ranger still gets it’s max range bonus… just think about it.
(edited by PaxTheGreatOne.9472)
@ kurfu, TexZero,
If I was in a warzone, I would seek high ground, mostly cause shooting down you have gravity as a friend and you are more difficult to reach as well as enemies having to shoot up they will have to combat gravity both with projectiles when firing or when moving there.
I’d try to conceal myself by camouflage and teraain features and I’d make use of terrain for any or all other value I could think of (impassables/ water so i have an edge when being attacked)
This game already makes enemies invulnrable if they cannot hit/target you which is dumb. It’s not like in a war when I cannot hit something I can say well now I’m invulnerable. No you are in the wrong place, so: Move!! Or stay put if moving will get you killed.
If I’m ingame I woudl seek the highground (some games give STILL give range advantages for ppl using highground (as did gw1) and I’d make sure I would be out of range of enemies trying to hit me, when ranging an enemy, preferably while not beibng in any fear of being overrun or swamped.
This seems basic tactics.
I also do not think players are in error or exploiting. Only the ppl who made the local scenery usable in a fashion you deem not okay might have been in error, but in all honesty , the people using the roof are just smart. as opposed to the ppl styanding in huge AOE-fields rerunning time after time or being so tankyt they cannot do any dmg at all.
/2 cents
(edited by PaxTheGreatOne.9472)
I do know in our guild we have ppl who started playing ~2-3 months ago and now have an ascneded armor. They skipped exotics sometimes and made exotics only to get mats for ascnededs, they did the SW runs to get enough mats to get their armors most of them crafted about 50-75% themselves. 2 got a pre when forging the exotics and 1 made a legendary, the other sold his pre and bought the mats. roughly 4 or 5 ppl did so. making an armor is a lot of work yes and it will take 700 gold yes, and when playing you will make ~10-15 gold a day. So in 2-3 months you should have 600-1250 gold. which is plenty for 1 set and maybe even for 2 armors…. provided you are a bit lucky.
We do encourage ppl to be carefull with their materials. and try to hint crafting will be the place where they’ll be used and we try to show them the easiest ways to get cash and mats.
(edited by PaxTheGreatOne.9472)
Like my armor just fell from the skies… all 6 of them…
I’ll be honest most of my armor was crafted, I made most of the timegated mats myself, and I know you should be happy you ONLY payed 600 gold.
1st Most armors are way more expensive now
2nd newer stast can be applied effectively giving you a new armor for only a fraction of the costs only problenm is you lose your runes. infusions can be salvaged, if you have the correct mastery.
3rd Unless doing pugged raids, or high level WvW or Fractals ascneded armor is still only a “extra”, the 10% added dmg is nice but not critical in most parts of tyhe game. you can get to lvl 50 fractals without ascneded armor anyways. and if you already have t you can run lvl 50+ trying to get new ascneded boxes whcihc can be modifies to your own needs.
You mean the control tower. It does work but:
1200 range max required you to stand on the edge where you might get hit (though rarely), below 1200 range was useless, a long time ago when warriors still had 1000 range LB’s you was to trait longbow if you wanted to stand there… for auto…
It was a decent spot for LB rangers/druids and mortar engi’s/scrappers and has been since launch. at first only a few rangers used it…
I do not understand the prolems with this spot anyways, getting there was a pain, using it was utter boredom, when on autoattacking with a 1500 range weapon I used my time to chat with the other ppl on autoattack tbh if they were there I’ve beeen there alone so often….
It’s not like the whole world and it’s pets were there all the time….
(edited by PaxTheGreatOne.9472)
Alacrity should have been nefed to 50% not 33% it would have feltmore in sync with quickness.
Well TBH I use melee weapons in most fights.
BUT:
If I know enemies to have a devastating attack in melee which is either very badly telegraphed, or spin attacks which will hurt a lot in melee I might equip a range weapon as secondary but only if I know these attacks are not interuptable.
e.g.: Igniters (flame legion flamethrower infantry) are easily interupted, and on some builds I’ll just take a weapons or skills with interupts and then burn ’m in melee ASAP. sword/pistol thieves can kill igniters really really really fast with little or no risk with daze on #4 and stun on #3….
Some builds are build around ranged weapons anyways (staff Ele, scepter mesmer or necro) and in those cases I’ll make sure to stay in range of the melee groups (240-600 range)so I can receive buffs. The buffs will make your ranged build way way better in all cases, both in DPS and DOT cases.
If you do world bosses and you are really squishy know the boss, do not melee
e.g. DPS the fire elemental in metrica province for example… you’re likely to get burnt.
TeQ and other world bosses are mostly skill dependant, and in some cases ranged weapons will not really be life saving, whcih makes the choice for melee weapons a bit bigger again. In some cases the blur can be really annoying, but the only way to avoid is to seek and empty instance and you’ll not finish your boss (well 10 ppl ae enough for most low level WB’s
well…
For healers (=/=self heal/self sustain):
From worst to best:
BAD HEALERS
OKAY HEALERS
GOOD/GREAT HEALERS
For self heals the list is comparable, but… signet of malice (for example) from thief will be more effective then mesmer heals due to it dependance ONLY on attacks not something situational as illusions. For self heals I find mesmer more difficult then thief.
The fact both thief and mesmer both have realively bad heals could correspond to their acces to stealth/invisibility, which used to be class bound.
Small Remark, due to scrapper’s acces to a long sustainable stealth, it might be right to nerf healing for scrapper’s while stealthed
BIG NOTE Most of my remarks come form my experiences from playing support and healing builds While i’ve tried running healer on mesmer and thief I find them less capable as healers.
About self sustain, most characters are on par with ranger, necro, guardian, warrior and ele being top due to best self heals
and
thief + mesmer just winnin cause the can vanish when needed, thief has a added dodge being daredevil which does really tend to be helpfull. signet of malice on thief with S+P / P+P tends to be a very good way to stay alive with or without stealth, mesmer has less potent heals IMHO.
So in the end my vote goes to mesmer as worst heal character.

for 10% lower condition dmg whcihis only partially responsible for the total conidition dmg /stack/ tick you can get 20 % condition duration…. e.g. 20% more dmg from your conditions while the actual lowering of conidtion dmg will only lose you a couple of points of dmg / tick
simple if
you’d do 130 bleeds per tick for 10 ticks =1300
changing to vipers/ trailblazers would make
you do 120 bleeds per tick for 12 ticks =1440 (dmg could have been 110 and it still
would be positive.
this is quite a gain.
secondary with viper’s power is comparable with sinister anyways. think about it.
The ONLY reason -NOT- to take viper’s is having a build which can attain a condition duration above 100% and it would be capped, in which case viper’s has no use above sinister and sinister would be preferable. (or you could use a diferent sigil?)

Evon is just the owner of the 3 orders, He uses his BLTP to fund the vigil , the order of whispers and the priory to make sure he will be the first one to aquire stuff to sell in his gemstore so he can say he’s protecting Tyria, just to make profit.
The pact is his personal army and we are just a front line squad of expendible soldiers: we buy our own amor and gear to be able to fight for him., just so he hasn’t have to risk his butt go out and kill stuff.
He gets 15% of all trade in Tyria…. making him richer then all others…. having a private army and a shadow governement…
And we will probably find out he’s just the executioner of Glint’s will making sure the legacy of glint will become the sole heir of all magic in Tyria.

Healing hammer guardian, auto: symbol, doing (added) dmg, healing and giving protection, being a light-field which procs condi clears when ppl use projectiles, so no condi’s, 40% dmg reduction and heals on autoskill, can be traited for more dmg if needed.
Just stand and facetank. if needing added heal go cleric/minstrel and yuou have time to get whatever you want while killing your enemy, you’ll likely be able to get pizza when killing a champ…
Still waiting….
and you being afk and the food just ticking could create problems…
especially when burning toxics and pizza’s or comparable, in whcihc case 30 minutes of AFK time tends to be ~ 1 gold.
We had dungeons for the time left between, whcih was also instanced content, where did they go to???
Oh yes I forgot, they were deincentivized.
Yes… A-Net…. Think about it.
Pssst, I think you meant fractals. They’re the quick instanced content that you can do while waiting for something else. They also got buffed in terms of rewards. Dungeons are the ones that take longer.
if you are waiting doing 10-15 minutes of low level fractals 15-20 minutes of medium level fractals and 35 minutes of high level fractals is barely rewarding….
With dungeons you could find yourself woring for 2-3 hours if you really wanted to, unnfortunately the rewards are now really really bad. cause those for fractals were in need of a boost to 20 gold/ hour.

The best classes are the ones you stay alive on with the glassiest setup you can manage, when considering DPS, but you’ll need more then DPS alone:
TBH it really doesn’t matter in most cases as long as:
This leaves you completely free to choose, and tbh I do not really care.
Just make sure you have sufficient AR.
I run
Just make sure you have a ranged option available if you choose a melee only build, as not all bosses/ fractals are purely melee-able imho.

Unreal engine was for FPS games If I recall correct.
Still I do not kow much more about upgrading (game)graphics engines except for the fact graphics engines are what make up the visual part of the game by rendering graphics from their respective flat models and the ingame “physical” world. If you use custom models and want to use them in a new engine the whole new engine part needs to be recoded to allow for a new engines use with the old structures . This has to do with possible newer ways of calculating, usage of instruction sets not previously available and other decodes and therefore the use of potentially improved ways of modelling and this makes just transferring the old ways of decoding just a shift up the Directx version but doesn’t add any -new- functionality to the engine, and it will not improve game functionality in the end, just a number chang.
You would end up with a directx 9 game with the functionality of a direct x 9 game being decoded by a directx12 script that cannot use any added stuff since it is not implemented anywhere in the game or the engine. Leaving the number change no benefit to anyone except some people who actually think it matters.
2 biggest bottleenecks of GW2:
Directx 9? Well it’s old but should be okay still
Improvements:
Direct X 12 could improve rendering from multiple CPU threads if both the engine and the system would be able to support this, which is only so for the latest (post 2013-2014 GPU’s) systems , only when running windows 10 (2015), which was obviously not yet a concern while developing this game in and before 2012.
These 2 changes would likely improve the game experience a lot.
(edited by PaxTheGreatOne.9472)
Problem is simple, the engine Gw2 uses is a modified engine from gw1, which was a heavily modded unreal engine (directx 8 if I remember correct)
Having a modified engine which was modified for a game released in 2005 and re-engineered to fit agame in 2012 is a bit more difficut to upgrade then other more stock engines.
Even though I really want to see a directx 12 engine, I doubt it will appear soon™
If the only thing whcih is attractive about gw2 is the engine, have fun somewhere else, and If you like gw2 for the game you’ll be back.
I’d appreciate it if Gw2 would be modded, so we could use 4+ cores instead of the 2+1 now. but this is also an engine limitation.
We’ll see what will happen.
I am really waiting for a return to the
“Hard-Mode” leveled DUNGEONS
And FULL reinstatement
of normal mode dungeons
I do not care that much about Raids, the forced time limits and all other drama surrounding them. So make these just dungeons, with chances to res ppl when dead, but no respawns, even respawning enemies are a go for me.
3 questions
(edited by PaxTheGreatOne.9472)
Well tbh I haven’t found any fun in playing engineer/scrapper or revenant/herald.
On the other hand I like playing support builds
zealot/zerk or zealot/cleric variants of warrior, necro, ele, guardian…
I also have a Trailblazer/rabid necro and a minstrel/cleric guardian wich are epic. Both are quite tanky and while the first does very nice condition dmg the other does really good healing. I also really really enjoy my sinister PU condi Mesmer whcih tends to be quite nice as well…
In the end I like condition builds and support/healing builds more then DPS builds tbh, But I still like playing my PS EA warrior (consider it support), or My staff DPS elementalist, well it’s no support build either but flexible enough to counter most problems (I run fire/water/tempest instead of Fire/Lightning/Tempest.)

Some people like the monks role and wish it had not been stripped from the game. I looked hard for a HP/T/V set myself a while back as I spend a lot of time at Dragon Events spamming Healing. My small contribution to the 100 other people flinging fireballs and Arrows feels pretty pointless; but Rushing about spamming Healing and rezing people has been great fun.
What a fun game Everyone can be a Serker War because that’s the only Viable thing, and we can all wear Armor that looks exactly alike. In fact the Devs would not even need players. NPCs would be fine for all that.
Hey here is just an Amazing Idea, let the OP enjoy the game has s/he likes; and not bash him for not being meta.
I do not care about OP not wanting to be meta tbh.
I do mind ppl saying well I want to have a specific role ingame, which has no option to be any use in all other roles. He chooses to ignore DPS, DOT, boons for the sake of healing. If his fellow players are all full zerks he will make them able to facetank everything BUT if they get wiped he would just be dead weight not being able to step to any other role.
Also being a healer but offering no mitigation (read protection/ reflects/ aegis/ vigor/ blinds/ weakness (and interupts if you’re really good)) creates a problem…
I run multiple healer builds but all have either a secondary option and ALL have some form of damage potential.
I have a:
All these builds will bring a good amount of DPS/CC and/or support so they can be usefull if things go awry, even the tank with it’s 1630 power will be way more powerfull then any build ignoring all possibe offensive roles it could have fit into.
(edited by PaxTheGreatOne.9472)
What’s the point of having a pure healer set in GW2 when you group can negate dmg with dodge, aegis, protection, resistance etc..?
Just curious.
Well in a small part of PVE we have lvl80+ fractals with all enemies stealing boons on hit. which makes healers NOT based on regeneration very usefull…
vitality vs conditions is mostly an illusion,
I think to a modest extent healing and most of all condition removal will be better.

I’m at 161 now…
I have opened HoT for most characters. I unlocked the 40-50 points I needed in verdant brink for most characteers and I am just doing fractals atm. and guild missions, I have lost interest for HoT maps due to the timers and the fact there are no reasons to do content, except maybe the new legendaries. I have found myself preferring SW and the old maps above the new maps, in almost 100% of the cases when I log in. The new maps are slow, and non engaging. For me doing an event chain running for 80 minutes is boring, but not being able to get in and needing to wait an hour before being able to enter a 80 minute chain is a waste. A waste of a good time in something that was a good game, and costing me energy and stamina to proceed each time…
I long back for the buggy elitist dungeons, and OLD SCHOOL FRACTALS. I do not care for RAIDS, which were a huge waste of programming time IMHO. I tried it a few times with some guildies and decided it isn’t for me. Too long, too elitist, always the struggles about builds and roles, I think I should have somthing they could use:
I have 20 lvl 80’s, 8 in -full- ascended gear, (no asc underwater weapons/breathers)
and some with partial armor (all asc weapons/trinkets):
The other 9 characters only have ascneded weapons and trinkets, even the mules.
2 Mules: I didn’t like both proffesions, Engineer still isn’t my thing though I like hammer better on Scrapper and I find Revenant is so boring, just being a buffer not being able to do anything but spamming 1 to avoid losing buffs… QQ. Myabe I can find a use for it in due time, but as it is now, I really do not care about it.
They are very adept in storing useless rings from fractals.
1 Opener: (rare gear)
and I cannot find a spot, I really do not care anymore though.
I run fractals on lvl’s around 85 now and it’s becoming interesting,
SO focus points of
GW2
story:
done (did personal story on 22 characters. (also the deleted ones)
dungeons:
(favorite content) -nerfed- dead content (I am dungeon Master, dungeoneer will never happen)
world:
done (9 times map completion)
boss events:
done (seen all did all, just do not care for TT had most achievs though)
living story:
(favorite content) done, on multiple characters
fractals:
(favorite content) done -changed: doing but increasingly sad about the results
was loweredc in rank form 40 back to 30 after 1st change , did less fractals since, but did them regularly with some friends, they stopped playing in the great content drought of 2014-2015
meta maps (SW/DT):
done, still doing SW Nice fast repeating content, decent rewards.
WvW:
(favorite content) ranked up to 849 , When there was little new content I was playing here, I changed server a few times to be able to play on peak hours.
HoT
Masteries:
done, nice idea, ground them, really wasn’t impressed too much regarding world impact of most limited use abilities. Luckily you can glide now in central tyria, well a bit..
Elite specs:
unlocked, done, on all 19 lvl 80 characters.
Raids:
not interested, tried it, need 10 good ppl, cannot achieve it, guild has 6 or 7 ppl interested and I gave up. people I play with are an old hardcore WvW group trying to help starters and returning players, we see people work their behinds off to get Ascended gear, only to find it’s extremely expensive end gear content, when they grind to it, most have such a detachment they go, leave the game and do not come back. We try to steer ppl to content instead of gear grinds, but most do not (want to) understand.
Event Maps:
Not attracted, sometimes I run them if timing permits, boring. too long Now I’ve got my masteries I really do not care anymore TBH.
New living story:
done , story is buggy, tried for achievements 14 times in 3 weeks, failing 3 times being bugged the other 11 times, abandoned the effort, sad…. I have all but 3 achievements the last 3 being in the 2 final story parts. A real dissapointing experience start was good, story could have had nice arcs, and in the end it’s extremely linear and after verdant brink mostly…. Well…. meeeeh….
WvW
(I vistited it 3 times and I managed once to stay 1 hour.) Dead…. I gained 1 rank since HoT, now at 850. The server I came to find a bit of room now has a hardcore group running EBG only, borders are DEAD. Noone goes there except for some casuals looking for dailies. The END of WvW, the few I still speak either do EotM or EBG.
Dungeons….
Yes… Dungeons…. I salvaged -all- my old (mostly exotic) Dungeon Gear, We carry ppl with WVW builds, just factetanking and cleansing the ppl (sometimes 5+ levels below needed level through the dungeons to get some XP. I run Dungeons nowadays for my present new guildies and sometimes old style with food and so on with some older friends. While it is nice to do an old school run it really makes me sad each time when we finish as the costs of using food and trying for a fast run tends to cost more then the dungeon actually provides in gains.
Well that’s about it.
I do not hate HoT, but it is in a lot of ways less rewarding to play then ANY other content, and it destroyed a lot of my favorite OLD content as well, mostly because A-Net seemingly needed to force ppl to play newer content due to it’s now obvious really bad design(-choices).
This unneeded destruction of a big part of the original Guild wars 2 content really nerfed my fun in playing from a 10/10 game down to a mere a 6,5/10 with some days a 5,4/10 or lower and though I still have a community and friends, I log in for my friends now, as I have no real content to look forward to playing. (<- this should make some people think!)
The return to old seasonal events with no real new additions really, and I mean really doesn’t help either. As such I’m fairly dissapointed in the present state of the game.
Soon™ is really starting to become a bad joke. I still hope to see a nice revitalisation.
3 suggestions:
The present fractals are really, really lame compared to old style fractals.
Conclusion,
And no, I still do not hate HoT.
I just hate a substantial part of A-Net’s development choices. And their way of “motivating” people, to do new, unrewarding and really bland content.
Which is an affront to me!
(edited by PaxTheGreatOne.9472)
If gold from dungeons is really an issue, they could at least increase the token rewards…
Unfortunately, it was not. What really was an issue is that Anet didn’t want to be bothered fixing bugs in dungeons (which was a bit hard for them to do, seeing as the whole original dungeon team was disbanded long ago, and there was noone really knowledgeable about their code anymore). Now they don’t need to fix anything, so all is fine. For them, anyway.
Which is just a simple lazy mode solution like most reuse of content and unbalanced fixes and balances seem to be nowadays.
