You weren’t joking! Warriors are serious business! I ran into one running some funky Banner Support build, could have sworn he was running Nomad’s but that’s been removed. Reason being? NEVER DIED. Just sat mid, and lived constantly with a point under his control.

We should nerf Warrior sustain more, Remove Healing Signet all together, and force other heals like Defiant Stance to work optimally under full adrenaline.

So OP.

Remove healing on warriors period
they don’t need it! Warrior masterrace can heal without healing skills: they so OP!

My chrono bunker and my cele tempest will kindly disagree on the unkillable thing… in my book if it takes 3 people or more to take one down, it can be categorized as a boring unkillable bunker.
I have yet to see ANY KIND of builds that can shut me down or kill me with less than 3 people on my bunker mesmer…

At that point, League aren’t representative of one’s skills, hence why I spoke of MMr, you will progress, don’t have any other ideas. And maybe the meta will shift in a way that will make your build more useful, but it is not a bad build, it’s a fairly good one, simply not optimal like I spoke earlier. If it works for you, then, by any means, use it. You are not at the level where it matters. I was simply making you aware of how one must be aware of what to think in order to make a build and be a must-have asset to your team.

As for your question:
Persistence of memory is not bad, it does actually work pretty well in your build, and if I gave the idea that it was a bad choice, then I apologize, because I had to wrote this blasted thing three times because of power outage in my area :/
I was simply suggesting that you could try Compounding Power for the additional damage and it may be a good trade off depending on the other team comp (if they are on a bunkier side (more ele or mesmer in their teams) , but Persistence of Memory (because it affects your block CDs) is also a good choice (especially with Mental Defense, since it also reduce the ICD of the trait)

What you need to wonder when creating a build is not “how useful can I be” but, “what do I need to bring to be the most optimal choice for my team to pick?”
Your build is useful, but not optimal.
You do the job of a thief on a subpar level (+1 fight and dueling) (well pre HoT thief anyway), while bringing condis to the table, which rev and Necro can bring on a level that is incredibly more efficient, moreover, your capability of bunkering a point can be done in a much better manner by a bunker alacrity mesmer or a cele tempest.
It’s not about being selfish or not, it’s about the fact that on the current mesmer, a bunker boon share build is that much more optimal to a team than any other build.
A shatter mesmer can be useful, but that doesn’t bring out the fact that it is still a subpar build compared to all the other dps around.
What makes the bunker alacrity that much appreciated is not only the incredible sustain and ease to play, but rather the capacity of bringing a hefty amount of alacrity and quickness to the table (coupled with resistance if traited) and the speed rez of allies.
Your build is good, and useful, granted (I’ll go onto its analysis a bit further down), but compared to the bunker alacrity and its impressive amount of support and sustain, it doesn’t bring anything that makes it absolutely needed, nor do you fill any role that other classes can’t fulfill themselves equally or even better.
On your level it might not be important, but step up in the mmr, the day you’ll fight against people who have mastered their rotations and their synergy and you’ll see how important having the least flawed build possible to not have to worry about weaknesses that might impair your own gameplay and can positively impact the game in a much bigger way than other build.
That’s what meta represents in fact. What is the least flawed and most balanced build that can exist on given classes that maximize the strength and minimize the weaknesses of the team.

As for your build:
The weapons and utilities are good, they synergies well together and are what one would expect a condi build to have. I would, maybe, sacrifice one of your skill for nullfield or maybe, even, the mantra because of the amount of condis and Mesmer’s inherent weaknesses to them despite the traits.

For the traits, if you ever decides to go over mantra, pick up the one that heal you and allies instead of PImage, Compounding power may offer more oomph and synergy instead of Persistence of Memory and MtD has been nerfed so much since it’s been introduced that it’s almost useless (IMO), maybe test it with Shattered strength instead, especially with the signet, which will offer a nice increase to your condi damage.
Otherwise the traits are good, and also synergize well together.
The sigil of (leeching) is an interesting idea, and energy is pretty much mandatory, however I’d maybe swap things out and add a geomancy and doom for more condis somewhere in there

Runes and Amulet are pretty straightforward.
Overall, for someone who’s fairly new to pvp, you did a good job on the build and it will work out on your level. However be aware that the more you’ll advance, the less happy your teammates will be with your choice, you would provide much more by bringing alacrity and quickness to the table.

Gw2skill is down, so I can’t look at the build, but here’s my own, very simple, reasoning as to why I don’t use illusion signet: other skills are more useful and answers my need and those of my team better than what it could do in the current meta
I tried running it, just like I tried running a thousand of other troll, barely viable build that should have been left in closet (don’t try a manipulation build alright, reflect isn’t worth it) and signet of illusion can offer (with proper use of cs) a very reliable way of getting shatter, especially in a condi build. An that’s without being properly traited with diversion in a signet build (which can be very fun)
However, the way meta has settled shoved mesmer in a niche role of support where he’ll share his boons that are not readily available (alacrity, quickness, resistance(ish)),
Shatter is sub par, condis PU is a thing of the past (has it ever been in the present)… Even portal play has been shoved on the side for that bunker boon bot build. It’s its only use and I expect it will fall out of meta pretty soon when tempest Cele and scrapper does a much better job a whatever else than providing alacrity and quickness… Still, as the current meta goes, you are more useful to your team by running either glamour traited, or Well traited because of what your team requires to help it rather than slot a selfish skill such as signet of illusion

Tldr: signet of illusion is a nice skill, but it’s too selfish for the role meta has pushed mesmer in: boon wh**e bunker. You won’t contribute and might hinder your team

I’d say that even with Inspiration we are severly weak against condis
Despite the minor and the trait that cleanse condis on shatter, you cannot use your shatters only for the cleanse, you’re wasting one of its chore mechanics
It’s a great, if not mandatory trait, but calling people immune and since resistance nerf, glamour aren’t as powerful as they used to be against them (it’s still valuable, but definitely not as “immune” as, say, Diamond Skin ele))

The time it takes to rewrite a game so that it adapts to newer graphics is insanely high. In fact, the only game I’ve ever known to go to such length and stay up to date is Eve Online… Do I need to say more? How complex and rich this game actually is compared to gw2?

that’s actually one of the thing that works right, even if it’s frustrating. As a new player, your mmr isn’t yet calibrated and it’s normal that you’ll lose a few since your current skills are probably lower than the majority. They’ll match you up with what they estimate is the closest match until you end up with a 50-50 chance of winning.
Any game with division, league and ranked season works like this, and it’s not bad.
Beside, 5 is very little, I was on my 20th loss in a row when I quit for unranked and finish my wintersday reward track.

Letter c applies to me and I was able to get the achieve. I’m left handed and still managed to get it even though my left hand was only resting on home row thumbing the space bar for jumps while my right hand was holding down mouse buttons and making fine wrist movements for turning.

With that said there are valid reasons why people can’t finish. Like you said physical disabilities, but also hardware. What if someone’s running an AMD rig and therefore can’t get the FPS needed to accurately gauge jumps? The difference between 20 and 30 is big, 30 and 60 not so much but it’s that extra fine detail you take in from all those frames that really help with snap judgments (such as when to press spacebar).

I added C for fact, I hate JP and I actually enjoyed this one (mostly because failing didn’t mean ruining 2 hours of work and dying in a dark pit full of monsters)
Does being left-handed truly impact people’s gameplay? I’m left-handed and never had a problem with any games (closer to ambidextrous than true left-handed, but still…)

Only when the system encourages you to do it. Like when exploiting is far more rewarding than fair playing.

Yeah well in that case, no one gets banned, they manage to farm what they need to farm and be more efficient than people trying to be “morally good”

4) PERMA-BAN All players who have been found exploiting the matchmaking system (e.g. using accounts from same IP Address and then switching to an alt gw2 account). This is something that CAN be detected easily – especially if they then pair up over a day and switch over. This will help prevent people buying multiple copies of the game – and pairing up with the same individuals. It is highly unlikely that a new player would know a legendary player for a match up. I doubt there are many legendary players who would want to pair up with complete noobs otherwise they are at risk of loosing the match.
<< Cannot talk too much about what controls they could implement to prevent pre match-maniuplation by exploiting the MMR algorithms. Something needs to be done.

1) you cannot systematically determinate a player tanking its mmr, even if it’s so obvious, you can’t know he’s just having a bad day (yes even that dude foregoing home and going straight to lord)
2) your “idea” of identifying those having another account is flawed and bad… first: couple playing the game together (or two people on the same computer) will have the same ip adress and you can’t determine it’s the same person
3) having multiple accounts is not illegal…
4) you do not know if it is not harmful. I have dyes, I have legendaries and skins that, even as a hardcore pvp, I wouldn’t want to lose. You assume they do not care, but you’re wrong.

Anyway JP isn’t so bad, you only need to do it 3 times for the achievement related to Presence :/ Took me 2 hours to be able to do it once, and then I nailed all three back to back in a very short while afterwards (just pick the same path so that you end up knowing it with closed eyes and the snowflake part will do itself alone)

Yeah, pretty much.

I’m not sure how the JP is for me. Don’t think I’ve ever done the Wintersday one. Not sure if I’ll get around to trying it by event end, after all the salt on my tongue from this “journey” of a collection. If I try it and it’s not as bad as Clock Tower, maybe I’ll get it done. Clock Tower was pretty annoying, but I got it eventually once.

It’s easier than clock tower for having done both
It is time gated because the snowflake end up destroyed, but it’s not as stressing and you have plenty of time.
The most stressing part is the gift one, where they end up popping under you, but just go straight ahead and never stop jumping and you’ll be done in no time.
Definitely better than clock tower. The most horrible part of presence is the 10k drinks, and it’s the only thing I have left to do and I’m a pvp hardcore that rarely venture in the pve world, so yeah… totally feasible.

Wintersday is scheduled to end on January 12, 2016. words from Gaile Gray herself. as for the drinks achievement we can earn it throughout the year instead only wintersday. Happy drinking everyone.

Is this confirmed? Will this achievment remain the whole year? will the whole wintersday achievement also remain? or only those in favor of getting the presence shoulder?

Apparently the achievement will remain, but they can’t do anything about the text itself. Which indicates they aren’t going to change seasonal stuff while it is active (for Dwayna knows why reasons) – nothing new on that front though, was the same way with previous seasonal events.

So…

We can finish drink achievement year round, but we’ll still be paying out the back end to get it if we don’t farm all we need now. And this obviously does nothing about the JP complaints.

No you didn’t; but the rune you used gives aegis on signet-use. Thus I’ve mentioned that you’re not even using any signets, and that Melandru does the rest of it at least equally good or better, and does some more stuff on top of that. ^^

Edit: As for the build… dunno; looks quite standard chrono bunker/support to me, except some different utilities. Not entirely happy with the amulet, since the condi-dmg on it is kinda wasted. Also, Melandru runes would be a much better pick… they give the same amount of toughness, and give more -condiduration… plus additional vitality and -stunduration. And you’re not using any signets.

Ah yes, I didn’t meant to redo the whole chrono bunker, mostly overcome WoP which became a liability, and condi pressure…
I’ll test with melandru (good thought, didn’t even crossed my mind, foolish that I was) and as for the amulet, my main goal was to get a toughness/healing one (I could try with crusader or cleric, will need to see)

Maybe I could also go with a thoughness/power one with water or monk rune :/

I agree with what you said, HOWEVER, between two even skilled players having relatively same knowledge of positionning and rotating, the one playing meta will win.
Why? Because META means “what is currently more effective” it IS FOTM builds and classes, but it’s still the most effective in accordanc to previous patch and “balance” of devs.

Here’s my theory on Anet ways of nerfing:
Write a bunch of things down, put it in a ball or something
Throw it at wall and wait so that it shatters
It shattered > nerf mesmer and the first five/ten/twenty things they manage to pick out of the mess they created
If it doesn’t shatter, they don’t nerf anything
Rinse and repeat

I’d rather have a thief and/or warrior in my team than an afker…they are not great, but they aren’t fodder for enemy if played properly.
I’ve had thieves and warrior in my team (yes sometime at the same time) and I’ve had no problem
If I see two people having either a warrior or a thief in the same comp, I kindly ask one of them to switch to another class so that we can make something out of the game
They are not at the best of places, true, they can be a liability to a team if badly played more than other classes (mesmer and revenant), but they certainly are better than whatever kitten who thinks that afking is a good solution and a good show of his own displeasure
At least do give yourself dishonor
Or better yet:
Don’t kittening punish your team for your own anger fulfilling desire.
Stop playing if you want to boycott the game

[PVP] Chronobunker twist need FEEDBACK

As I said, I made a medium twist over chronobunker since WoP nerf.
My reasoning over:
My main goal was to provide an alternative to the celestial chronobunker since WoP nerf that made it more of a curse in a teamfight over a point, because of the chance that all team gets itself in it (except for the large one such as Mid Foefire), or loosing a cap that I’m supposed to keep because of too much distortion uptime;
I also noticed that one of the MAJOR weakness of the previous build was it’s sheer vulnerability against condi clear (which became massively more prominent since the last few days/week)
Therefore, I decided to remove the massive amount of Alacrity I could provide, and the amount of boon shared and give a more condi-clear twist by foregoing two wells for nullfield and feeback and switching IIllusion for TEnchantment…
I also swapped a couple of things around and decided to go over for a toughness/healing amulet because of the lack of Condi damage mitigation (would rather be able to heal myself fully back than try to stack on vitality), this gave birth to this… thing that I surprised myself into liking much better than I expected (truly, I made it more as a troll build in the beginning to go against condis and laugh at them as I could just shed them off as long as I wanted)
Went into ranked, and was, again, surprised at how capable I was at surviving against outnumbered fight while (at least) keeping the point contested.
In 1v1, the point will be mine for the whole fight
In 1v2, I can still manage to keep it on fairly medium-size, encumbered or large points (all of the foefire ones, Niflhel mid and mine) and can keep it contested for a really long while
In 1v3, I can keep the point contested and survive long enough for a teammate to arrive (a good 40 second)
I haven’t yet tested in 1v4 scenario, but I am not that optimist about the build

In teamfight, the build is still a solid help, capable of shedding and providing resistance often enough so that condis aren’t a problem ever to weaker class, while keeping enough survivability and CC to rez a teammate under cleave pressure and still being capable of assuring a quick stomp (if it doesn’t bug)

Afterthoughts

I tested it in a couple of ranked game (both solo queue and team queue)
It does hold its ground against 1v3, as before, and it’s much more resistant to conditions, which I greatly appreciate (also provides teammates with clearcondi and resistance and can strip boons out of enemies)
However, the lack of celestial makes its damage truly lacking, I am not able to kill anything (which is kinda the point of a bunker).
Lack of Alacrity, after being used to it, truly is a bummer, but it’s not nonexistent and is still present enough to make a difference

I still have to:

  • Test with amulets variants to see if there isn’t a more optimal version;
  • Test with TimeWarp instead of GWell and maybe put another well instead of Feedback;
  • See if Purity is the truly best option as sigils goes; (maybe battle/doom/geomancy?)
  • See if a more offensive amulet could do the trick to add more power… < would therefore go back to its bruiser status
  • Have more ingame experience with it
  • receive feedback (reason why I am here)

TLDR;
In my opinion, the build is a good bunker one, but lacks the damage celestial could provide, the sustain of WoP, and the incredible amount of alacrity uptime. However, the capability of clearing condition and providing resistance to the whole team is a nice change and balance things out, especially since the prominence of condis over the last few weeks. The build is still capable of fulfilling its main role as it was before WoP nerf, and it’s still a nice addition to a team, especially if the other team runs revenant and necro.

What do you all think? And as usual, don,t be afraid of being harsh, I’m asking for criticism and feedback, not ego boosting comments (but I know you will deliver )

You know, I do feel you, and I really understand that MASSIVE problems of PvP at the moment
however… you know that if it becomes a chore… you can just stop playing?
It’s not like Anet has you at gunpoint so that you continue playing

My advice will seem a bit contradictory, and I’m not sure everyone will agree, however I’d suggest you start with another build than bunker to familiarize yourself with the class outside of the crutch provided by bunker or else I fear you risk learning mesmer with mistakes that you will have to unlearn once this particular build fall out of meta…

with that said, you do whatever the hell you want…
The Alacrity bunker build traditionally run on Celestial because it provides a nice (albeit scattered) balance between necessary stats. However, what makes chronobunker what it is is the quality of his well (especially Well of Precognition) added to a very very high uptime of Alacrity combined with the different access to traits and skills

  • Healing on shatters
  • Clean condis on shatters
  • Chaos armor
  • Protection uptime
  • Distortion
  • Blurred Frenzy
  • Echo of Memory/Deja Vu
  • Faster rezzing speed
    It’s that particular synergy with the chronobunker that makes it a braindead efficient build

I am not sure what you mean by “beside winning” the huge strength of bunker mesmer is his survivability that makes it incredibly hard to kill and incredibly efficient at keeping a cap for his team, even when outnumbered. This combined to his support via boonshare, speed revival, CC, Alacrity, Invuln, makes it a highly sought after build that complement well any kind of team.

Chronomancer: Rewinding time sounds pretty awesome, you can do anything you want twice. While there is nothing really wrong with it’s design, the issue comes in doing everything twice. Because of Continuum Split, the balance team must always consider the mesmer being able to do all of it’s abilities twice. So that means the base for mesmer must be gutted in order to confiscate for the fact of it can be used twice. Shatterspiking is the core damage for mesmer outside of phantasms. There is the big balance hole, whatever extra is added to mesmers, The balance team must ask themselves, “Hey, what happens if they use this twice in a row?” The biggest issue of why this will forever plague chronomancers is simply they can still shatterspike. If the balance team changes the way F1-F4 works for Mesmer means they can more easily adjust this classes defensive and offensive capabilities.

CS… really? I mean… you’re right it’s so strong that shatter mesmer is definitely on meta and roflstomp everything on its path

I hardly doubt that the chronobunker (which is the only remotely viable mesmer build at the moment) stands where he currently is because of a shatter of, like 1s1/2 per shatter and self on a 90 second CD (72 if traited if my memory serves me right) that makes you go backward in time of every thing beside condition application and boon application…
It’s definitely the most broken thing of Mesmer and everything should be nerfed in accordance that you can possibly, once every 90 (72) second go back in time for a few second…/s
Can we look at Alacrity uptime that has no counter, or WoP giving evade to all the team for quite a lengthy amount of time without preventing point cap before looking at CS?

This could easily be fixed by changing the blur on well of precog to distortion which does prevent point capture. Making alacrity a buff you can corrupt/strip seems like a good idea, but first i would wait to see what happens with chronobunker when you change blur to distortion on well of precog. We shouldn’t over nerf.

Exactly my point, I especially wanted to emphasis that I was aware that Chronobunker had problems that needed to be seen, not that they all needed to be adressed.
WoP not preventing point cap is THE major one initiating the flame however.

PU was annoying, annoying from the pits of hell I think I said?
But it wasn’t VIABLE because it contributed to NOTHING in teamplay
Yeah you could kill players… between points… if they didn’t see you first… as for contributing to your team by capping node?
You could instakill the amount of players you wanted… you were still food for thieves and you needed to be kitten sure you’d win that instakill or you had nothing left
Beside, kill the sole player you want, if they own the majority of the point because you’re deadweight in a fight, your team will still lose. The winning point of a mesmer burst was its ability to get into melee with relatively low risks. Keep it far and it’s pratically useless.. this ability of his isn’t so useful in a clustered teamfight where getting into close range was basically a dead wish for any mesmers that got caught into aoe

Beside, PU became annoying around the same time it was move to be a GM next to BDisillusionnment and CInterruption (also same time Mantra Power Lock became a god amongst builds)
PU was rarely picked after the first few days because it simply didn’t compare to the support BDisillusionnment could bring to a team
Mesmer indeed wasn’t bad. It was an incredible dueling class, but conquest doesn’t revolve around 1v1 and the role mesmer could have had, thief filled it better.
Mesmer’s sole utility was portal
It’s role could be filled better with a thief in the pre HoT era and it has always been the case.

You should not engage a chronobunker in a 1v1 on a point he own period.
You should not engage a chronobunker that sits on a point period.
It can handle 1v1, 1v2 and even 1v3 if the skills are rolled out properly, it is vulnerable to condis (given that he didn’t swapped one of the wells for NField), it is vulnerable to boon strip and corruption…

Are you trying so hard at defending Chronobunker ? Well of Precognition needs a nerf ASAP. Chronobunker is miles better than last Turret bunker engineer, because it has the mobility and disengagement.

Now that Chronobunker is super meta with DS tempest, Auramancer and Rev, mix it all together in a team. What you gonna do when you have a game with 1-2 Chronobunker, helped with other bunker/support ? Yeah, you play your game till 0 secs.

Super fun.

You can pull all the numbers you want and say they have weaknesses, opening, etc. You don’t seem to look at the big picture.

I clearly stated that I was FULLY aware of what currently makes chrono too strong and I am TOTALLY agreeable to see a proper tweak of said things…

  • WoP SHOULD prevent a point cap, thus it should see the evade being converted to a distortion because it allows five people to have access to a evade while keeping their mobility. The difference with Blurred Frenzy is that it actually locks you in place, which is not the case with WoP
  • Mesmer have access to a way too high uptime of Alacrity and should either: see it reduced OR See alacrity becoming a boon that can be ripped/corrupted…

You seem to have crawled so high up the wall that you see one single evidence of someone defending chronobunker and, automatically, they are blind and stupid…

I did say it was a braindead build, did I?
Well it is, I’m not going to deny it much more than that, everyone and their dogs knows it, fact is, for as braindead as it is, it’s ridiculously efficient and it’s actually one of the first DECENT build that made us come back into the meta since many many years. I would like to keep it if possible, or at least not go back into the worthless zone where thief and warriors seems close to hover. but yeah it IS too strong for the amount of risk you need to put in, and does need toning down, not downright smashed to bits and pieces because people can’t be bothered to learn as to what actually, precisely, makes it as strong as it is…
The only thing I am defending is a too heavy nerf against our first build that bring us out of the portal bot role we had…

And what I do against 1-2 chronobunker?
I should try having a team with 2 Cbunker see how it goes, but still…
Condis is the way to go against them…
Bring a signet reaper with corrupt boon,
Bring a condi revenant
Bring a tempest auramancer
Bring anything really with Condis because despite their shatter with condi clear, they don’t have that many way to clear them… Even with NField

Automatically, trying to kill a bunker leads to 2v1…
If the mesmer sits alone on a point, leave it.
If he leaves, send thief/rev to decap
Target him first in team fight… the combination of people that need to bring it down is:
Rev+necro
DH+rev
REV+REV
Dh+dh
Thief + 1 (if only for the pressure)
Boonstrip
Attack at distance
Condi pressure from multiple people
Stop standing in the red circle
Stop attacking into blocks…
STOP ATTACKING INTO BLOCKS

Just go over the mesmer forum, there’s three or so threads that explains how to counter the build
AGAIN, I’ll repeat it just to make sure
WoP needs evade to become invuln
Alacrity uptime needs to be reduced or it needs to become a boon that can be stripped/corrupted
I am NOT defending CBunker the way it is right now, since it is too strong
I AM defending the build that we have for its potential and the fact that it made us meta again
