Conversation? What conversation? Anet is like a blackhole: Nothing that gets in ever get out and it’s sucking everything good about the game.

EVERYTHING they emphasize on upon release, they did completely against.
Transparency? Look at the feedback we have
Relationship with community? HA! what a joke
Updates every two weks? Where are they?
No farming > that is more arguable since it’s a MMO anyway
Elite not required to be competitive > Where is the viability of core class?

No seriously, EVERYTHING they said they’d be like at release, you just flip it 180 degree and you have what they gave us.

You could try Blade and soul.
A bit overhyped for what it actually is, but it’s very decent and I have lots of fun playing the game.
I also feel it’s relatively balanced overall, but that may be because I’m new.
All in all, the game also focus more on the PvP side of things (may feel like PvE is lackluster however)
Worth a shot, especially since it’s F2P
Beware of Queue time and cancerous gold spammers however.

With the amount of passive procs at 25%, full blocks and protection spam, I doubt you can actually one shot anyone 100 to 0 nowadays lol.

There’s air that passed through my nose. I find the idea of where Anet is taking this game THAT funny, jeez!
I noticed something, and maybe there’s no causal link, but it’s definitely correlated: My happiness and pleasure in having free time to game increased tremendously when I stopped playing.

Malicious Sorcery was a bit too strong, not exactly where we wanted it.
So we’ve halved its effectiveness to 10%.

And we’re making the Scepter AA projectile 500% slower.

Or at least do not commit to 1 patch every 4 month and instead implement small scale changes regularly.

Quite honestly, I expected a patch this size to be something done on a 2-3 week schedule, not 3 months……

Literally, the changes are so trivial in most cases, that I cant see why it would take THREE WHOLE MONTHS to come up with them……

Do they not have enough metrics? Is it is so hard to implement? Are they simply being lazy? Are they so out of touch with their own game? Do they have any experience in balancing, or are they just programmers who were shunned into this?

What is going on?!

People are leaving so fast they don’t have the playerbase to gather their metrics anymore… or something like that.

As others said: for a balance that will happen three times a year, I expected EACH class to look like at least the whole post concerning classes…
we got hundred or so abilities and tweaks possible and you give us a kittening 5% on mesmer scepter trait, slaps on some torment and BAM scepter rework…

And that’s not taking into account every other classes.
I’m very disappointed by what I saw.

I bought a founders pack so I’ve got premium, longest queue I had to deal with was 1.5 minutes XD but some guildies had to wait an hour or so at the longest.

Ah well. Should have made a post telling everyone where to go. But I do love the cross server dungeon stuff even though I suck at dungeons. My characters name is Sachyi btw.

Ikasun or something like that. And lvl 25 I think. I’ve been playing a kungkittenmaster so just been taking my time leveling up in PvE helping the guildies that moved over with me adjust to a new game.
And gold seller spam is horrendous but if you turn off map and faction chat it isn’t nearly as bad.
Definitely have a game/tv show on stand by if you stuck in a long queue. It’ll calm down as the weeks progress though I think.

Seeing as its F2P on top of everything else making me like this game, I’ll say that it’s DEFINITELY worth a shot, despite the horrid queue times (my server can go as high as 90 min before getting in, so it’s worth considering when loging in)
Plan something or log in a couple of minutes before being able to play, my own tips.
And beware of gold seller spamming the chat, otherwise the game is satisfying me more than gw2 did the past year.

Can all of the people who repeated the mantra:
“We don’t even know all of the changes yet”

And you didn’t even know that MMR was a thing in this game… Going as far as to mock people who tries to argue with you.

In term of match making there is virtually no problem with grouping with what you call “random people” and grouping with guilds. The matchmaking rules are exactly the same and will apply on both case.
In fact, I’d go as far as to wager that, in most case, queuing outside of a guild may prove to be more hazardous since you may not know the players you’re queuing with as well as those from your guilds.
On another note, your idea of restricting parties based on guild appartenance is ludicrous. Many of my friends are not in the same guild as I for the same reason I’m not in the same guild as them : we already have five guilds that we represent often enough to stay in them.

another player who “main” a Mesmer suggesting more nerfs to class defining skills. This probably one of the reason why Mesmers nerfs from the devs are so heavy-handed, because we are self-defeating community that openly calls for nerfs. Remember after the Robert Gee trait revamp patch went through? People on here start randomly suggesting nerfs, and guess what? Anet nerfed the skills/traits that didnt need nerfs, in addition to more nerfs and tweaks.

Mesmer being one of many stronger classes at the moment, I am forced ague the folly in adding condition removal to healing shatters in the inspiration trait line. Mesmers have always had practically perfect condition clear as long as they counter build to it. But this trait only adds make mesmer practically unkillable with condition builds. There is no class that is given 4 heals and 4 condition removal skills without even equipping utilities. The balance I would hope for is similar sustain to other classes abilities in their defensive trait-lines. Otherwise, have it toned down to the other classes and maybe even split this into two traits.

Really!? You want to nerf mesmers again? Saying inspiration condi clear is an issue!? looooool… You know it only clear 1 condition/shatter, and those shatters got cd aswell!

+1…the only build I managed to make that used reliable-ish condi clear outside of the mandatory shatters is signet… SIGNET for heavens sake… And even then I need to micromanage each single condition I have and decide whether or not its worth cleansing.
I’ll listen when condi amount drops significantly from t the table. Come back to QQ at that point

I haven’t used energy sigil for at least six month, and while I needed adjustment, I could still produce enough clônes to not waste dodge on them, In fact, I’ve foregone the whole dueling line quite a while ago
Core mesmer is lacking and needs buff to be made competitive, I agree, and chrono makes the absence of energy that much easier to bear, but claiming a whole class is dead because one sigil gets nerfed? You’re just panicking

What people means by “keybind” is mostly f1-f4 1-0, etc.
Just move everything around so that your fingers moves the least possible from your wasd.
Remove backpedalling altogether, it’s too slow to be useful.
I’d rather use about fac.
I put strafing on a-d so that I move laterally left and right instead of turning left and right.
Remove every skills from 5-0 and put it around your hand.
You can kep 5 if you have big hands (which I do)
Use your mouse if it has multiple buttons and switch f1-f4 to put around your movement keys, again.

As for AoE and settings you may want to take a look over there:

It is very bad that triple class stacking is allowed longer queues or not its stupid and no most people won’t change if you ask them and even if they could most would likely be worst on there secondary class as you average player in this game doesn’t have 1,000 years to play and get really poficieint at multiple classes. Up to two I could live with but three class stacking no it shouldn’t be allowed imo. As a matter of fact three years in we should probably have a system where the game can look at who is in the matcher and apportion them to team by role/archetype based on traits and jewelry. All of this is some kind of super science to a-net though. The lower the bar you have for a-net the worst you are going to receive in return.

OP was part of those three thieves, he could have switched. I have no pity for his post.

And three years in we shouldnt have a mess like we currently have in meta, it shouldn’t be science to reset mmr, the game should have progressed instead of regressed and we should have had something to do in HoTM on top of build templates to save.

My GW2 christmas list keeps getting longer and longer, but I have no control over it. I don’t bother wishing for things I can’t help to have or not.
From my experience 2/3 of the players will switch class if you manage to explain properly and respectfully, the other you just deal with and make a plan based on what I have at hand.
I adapt.
Beside, getting at least a passable level on two-three classes isn’t sorcery, it doesn’t require intense satanic rituals nor a lifeless dedication to the game.
I did it, I’m a full time student and a part-time worker who’s training four days a week. I can hold my own and know both ele and mesmer quite well, and I’m on my way to learn thief.
It’s a multiple class game, learning only one through and through is like shooting yourself in the feet if only for the reason to know other classes builds and mechanics (which would greatly help people who QQ about classes they have no idea about)
We can hope and claim as much as we want that class stacking shouldn’t be a thing (which I agree), fact is: it is a thing.
If OP had proceeded to switch his class, show map chat or his tier then maybe I’d have considered to give more than kitten advice anyone should know or sarcasm.
As it is, I have QQ on my hand, and no pity or sympathy to offer.

Pro Tip. Bind your abilities to keys and use your mouse to help move around and position your self.

What’s a good configuration to key-bind your abilities?

keep it close to your moving keys, remove back pedal, use your mouse

I have a better idea (if mind games is what you want).

Skill CD: 70-75
Description: Target an enemy. Stun the enemy for 1 second and generate 5 Clones surrounding the enemy approx 300-400 units away. (You will also surround the enemy on a random location. So that would be 6 of you surrounding the player. For 3, seconds you are allowed to shatter those clones BUT only 3 will shatter. If you do not shatter within 3 seconds, you lose 3 clones automatically.

These are only clones so they don’t do much damage. However, they are effective at deception.

You can’t have more than 3 clones at a time… all the newly created force one of the clones you had to disappear, while I like your idea, it would require Anet to go around one of the very basic algorithm ruling over mesmer’s head and that’s not a simple matter to go over.

I’m going to take this one step further, put it on a 70 sec cooldown and instead of teleporting you to a random position you swap positions with your target. You do not spawn clones but could synergize well with other skills.

An advancd version of Ileap.
70 CD may be long though… 50?
And put it in manipulation.

So does mine once I quit bunker.
I may move toward something more lockdown with condis and interrupt rather than the one I was running, will need to see with how stability is still present, but the reducing of bunker will certainly help a lot, while keeping mine untouched.
I even stopped playing with energy/durability/celestial just to get a feel post-patch, but it was basically a chronoshatter with signets (lol the signet, I know, but it worked well from what I tested)

Mesmer is just the class new and/or bad players always complain about because of how the class is played not because its “op”

It relys on tricking your opponent and locking them down, using a bunch of clones while simultaneously going invisible and popping invulnerabilies inbetween with all the shatters and animations, it can be really disorienting to someone that doesnt know what to look out for or how the class works

Especially when you make a full premade with HUGE norn all clothed the same with similar name before the chaos armor visual nerf.
You want a kittening screen cluster? It couldn’t get worst.

“hey guys, would any of you switch to x class we’d need against y class we’re facing because we’re lacking z utility/support/etc and one thief can do the roaming job plenty enough” while adding “I’d like to stay on thief, or I’ll switch to c class”
Or did you just look at the matchmaking, threw your hand in the air and curse Anet and random class stacking RNG, which they can’t really prevent since people can play whatever they want and we don’t have the sufficient player pool to enable algorithm that would rule out class stacking without lenghtening the queue time by x amount?

Did you really think not one of us in the team had written in team chat requesting class switches? And my point still stands even if 2 had switched – we’d have 2 people on unpreferred classes vs a team with 2 top players and all on preferred classes and would still lose.

and yes, I saw teams where people would stack class that don’t really work stacked and no one said a kitten thing about it (couldn’t help but be a mighty keyboard warrior while in game tho)
And since your post lacked the necessary information that you provided in reply to my post, I simply assumed none of you bothered to ask anyone to switch class and simply gave up first hand.
2 top players happens too. Feels harsh and I know the pain of not being able to do anything… I faced Abjured twice in a row once and truly they wiped the floor with us even though we did manage to do 15 points.
We all know this season is as kittened up as they come, and matchmaking is crap. And meta is crap. And division system is crap. And mmr is crap. And HoTM as a whole is crap. And the game itself is going downhill.
We get it.
Everyone does and having ten-twenty posts a day about it kinda make people not care anymore, especially when many of them doesn’t even bring anything else but additionnal QQ to the table with nothing relevant to reflect on.
So yeah:
Tough luck I guess, it sucks, keep trying, maybe next time mmr will like you a bit better, keep it up only a week left, etc, etc.

Hey folks. I just want to clear something up. I don’t think there’s anyone here who is saying the chronobunker was a great spec. The problem with the mesmer is that once you take out that one build, there aren’t any alternatives for mesmers to use.

Condi builds are very greedy and don’t offer much in the way of team support, or burst damage.

Shatter builds can burst and +1, but not very effectively, and that role will likely be taken over by the thief/shiro rev.

Bunkers are well…bunk.

I think what people are asking more than anything else is that if you’re going to make the chronobunker nonviable, you need to put buffs somewhere else to offset it. I don’t think that’s asking for too much.

No. I think there is something about the Mesmer’s skillset that makes it hard to balance. I think in the hands of a very skilled player who deeply “gets” the class, the effectiveness is exponential.

I’d still like to see that exponential effectivennes. AFAIK the only one who truly made mesmer competitive was Helseth. And, as he said, he’s the one who got the skills and carried mesmer through top league, not the other way around.
The mythical “high ceiling” of mesmer is just a way to say: put twice as much effort in the class for half as much reward gotten by any other and it’s not worth it unless you’re truly masochist.

I see your logic and I sorely disagree.
It’s not cheating, it,s adapting to situations outside of your own capability to influence.
match making is RNG where class stacking is concerned, not letting people change their classes at the sight of the other team or their own to pick the most viable composition in answer to what the system decided to throw them with or against would just let the computer decide even more, on a completely RNG base, your chance at winning matches.

the thing i find most comforting is that the amount of bad thieves that will come out of this is going to be too darn high and will be a nice, easy… obvious kill.

A thief that loses to a shatter mesmer is terrible. Period. Sorry.

Thief’s defense is just capable of neutralizing half of our damage output simply because we either require a target or it makes our clones stand as still as frozen statue, while his stealth outlast ours.
I’m not saying we will be necessarily fodder, but claiming that thief dying to shatter is terrible while they are our natural counter… well I can’t agree.

You can even go back to my post history, I QQed about burning, Anet’s balancing and the league system, most of all (maybe a few more other thing).
My QQ is emotional whining that I usually do moments after being wiped by what I QQed about and left with a strong feeling of unfairness and the need to vent my anger, which I do on the forums…

This isn’t QQ, this is personal observation that I’ll be so kind as to put in other words just for you.
I also realizes that I simply reinforced “thief shouldn’t die to shatter”.
Well, while I can agree that thief is the A+ predator of mesmer, I should also add that a thief taken by surprise will die equally fast by a mesmer than a mesmer taken by surprise by a thief.
The first to spot the other is the first to kill. A shatter in the face really doesn’t feel good, despite MB’s nerf.

Anyway, Spartan, let me clarify everything for you since you missed my point on every possible angle:
I never said that thief’s stealth wasn’t supposed to outlast mesmer’s. I simply pointed out that thief is a natural predator to mesmer because his ability to stealth for longer than us (his main defense ability) neutralized most of our offensive abilities, whereas ours own def didn’t cancel his at the same point because it’s not nearly as reliable on targeting and visible target, while our own stealth is not as efficient as theirs, which means that we can’t outplay them on the same field.
Moreover, thief and mesmer grossly fill the same role : +1 fighter/roamer.
Yet, despite our own portal, thief can do this job better and more efficiently than mesmer can, primarily because his mobility excess that of mesmer, just like his capability to engage/disengage fight at will is equal or greater than that of mesmer despite the latter own stealth, teleports and C.C skills.

So yeah, I’d appreciate you not falling into personal retaliation simply because you feel the need to jump at anyone’s throat who dare imply any single form of Thief vs. Mesmer while not even bothering to actually comprehend or even read said post properly.
The only thing you probably saw during your sifting was: “while his stealth outlast ours.” and immediately came to a conclusion that I was a miserable keyboard warrior who doesn’t know jack kitten about both class she complained about
Sorry, I just have 3k hours on my mesmer and while my own knowledge of thief is slightly lacking on a balance level, I know enough to know basic things such as “he’s the annoying bugger who use stealth as both offense and defense. He’s also the annoying class that dare outpe rform mesmer on its roaming class while being its natural predator due to his defense canceling our own offense and making us incredibly vulnerable all the while to his attack.”
I’ll also put /s just to make sure you don’t take my last 4 lines literally and only focus on this to lash at me again on my miscomprehension of two classes and apparent QQing.

I think Anet finally conceded that they aren’t capable of balancing the game. Especially not across 3 game modes.

So, the new plan is every 3~ months they’ll-

Nerf w/e was Meta
Beef w/e saw the least action
Throw in a few curveballs
Stir it all up in a cauldron while cackling maniacally
Send out Frankenstein’s update to greet the players (and hope there isn’t any fire)

Everyone’s profession will see some daylight (eventually) and will keep things fresh (they hope).

While not angering too many people at once… (that too they hope)

Warriors will stay in their graves unless some rework of traits/skills happen. If the preview was any hint about what they think about buffing sustain, its bye bye for warriors for next season as well. Also LB primal burst and gunflame needs nerf.

Don’t worry. 20 HP more per sec on Healing Signet will have us sustained in fights. We’re just tanking 20k dps in one second, no worries!

Clearly somebody got smeared on the floor by a mesmer too many times because they didn’t bother learning how to play well.

the fun thing is i say this because i grabbed mesmer and within 3 hours i was demolishing people as if i mained the freaking profession since launch by spamming conditions

the same goes for reaper and druid

so either A i am extremely talented at mastering professions quickly or B: this professions have an incredibly low skill ceiling

I picked up Berserker for this season and ran it through Ruby into diamond. Warrior was pronounced dead from its HoT BETA weekend. I had great success with it.

So am I extremely talented? Or like Mesmer, is Warrior super easy requiring incredibly low skill for great success in this meta? XD

Let us be honest: phantasms are a failed mechanics. They are holding the whole class back. Think about it, they are supposed to be our “sustained damage”… ahaha.

I can think of 2 fixes:

  • make all phantasms like the shield one: a skill and then a “byproduct” being a phantasm. The phantasm has to be nerfed accordingly
  • change the phantasm to be balanced as a 1-time thing: it spawns, does its thing (and is unkillable) and then becomes a simple clone. This means our sustained damage will stop being computed assuming 3 phantasms up and thus instead gain some damage in weapons skills.

How would you rework greatsword 4?
Mirror blade actually works like this (the clone being a byproduct) and so does Illusionary counter (I think)

Well they could already start with actualling “COMMUNICATING” with their community instead of to their community… you know, so that we can know, at least, what they expect each class’ role to be. The way meta come and go I feel like they don’t even have a clue themselves

What if it was just pulsing block over Aegis? Personally weakness over blind is more helpful for me, I don’t play Scepter much but Malicious might make power more potent in a perverse sense, and Alacrity was a hefty toll. I think toning it to 50% FIRST instead of all the way down to 33% was a big step, and I hope chill follows.

Nerfing it would have been reasonable and, if proved too strong again, nothing prevented them to then drop it to 33
But Anet does anything but reasonable nerfs.

Does anyone think the fact that Rev has double the amount of Heals, Utilities, and Elites make it a little OP just for that fact?
I used to main thief. I wasn’t winning as much so i switched to Rev. Now it’s hard to lose a match in PVP.

Do you think Elementalist is OP just for the fact that it has twice as many weapon skills?
I don’t think any seasoned Elementalist would say that, in fact, they would say their skills are over-balanced to compensate.

The Revenant has the same issue. Some skills are very strong (particularly Shiro), but most of the heals are trash, and quite a few utilities are just useless.

The reason you did so well is because Power Revenant currently has quite a low skill floor for success and can do good damage while Thief is squishy and difficult to use, especially in this meta.

I agree that Rev has a low skill floor. Not sure what the deal was with thief since i average 190 points per match, but the team would still lose the match…

Implying scoreboard indicate anything else but being overtly aggressive in its playstyle and has no relevance as to one’s own usefulness in a game?
I mean one could have double capped, fought off point and finished anyone he came accross and have a very high scoreboard.
Doesn’t mean he contributed to his team in any manner that proved relevant.
