‘Improvements’ Such as this kitten….

My Grandfather smoked his whole life. I was about 10 years old when my mother said to him, “If you ever want to see your grandchildren graduate, you have to stop immediately.” Tears welled up in his eyes when he realized what exactly was at stake. He gave it up immediately.

Three years later he died of lung cancer. It was really sad and destroyed me. My mother said to me- “Don’t ever smoke. Please don’t put your family through what your Grandfather put us through.” I agreed. At 28, I have never touched a cigarette. I must say, I feel a very slight sense of regret for never having done it, because the image you posted, with bright green comic sans text over it, gave me cancer anyway.

I had a crapload of charges (about 80) when wardrobe was implemented, and only just hit 0. I have a spare character slot I use for key runs- I can also use it to hit rata sum and the grove over and over for charges. No need to spend $ on charges.

Its going to be another questionable item in the game for me to decide whether to destroy, or save and hope they do something with it… Like ascended rings, but at least they have vendor value.

If you keep them, be sure to use an artificer to compact them into the higher-value versions (to store more easily)

24 hour coverage:

Dynamic map cap. No server can have more than, say, 1.5x the amount of players of either other server (above a certain minimum cap, though-the cap can never fall below maybe 50). No more Server-A-Covers-24-hours and server-b-just covers-local issues. One server can’t dominate purely by numbers (at least not to the usual extent). Now that we have “WvW overflow” (eotm) for people who just want to get in fights, this can work.

Snowballing:

Award more points for cap, defend, and stomp, and far fewer for ppt. If possible, instead of giving team points for stomp, give points for last-hit, so that fighting tactics aren’t compromised by the need to stomp.

Stagnation:

A few things here.

-more variety in maps (not more maps per week, though- maybe shuffle the maps available each week. Hell, even different art passes for two of the borderlands (same layout, but different art)).

-Make a buildable item for guilds (costs a LOT of influence) that allows every member a free transfer to a certain, specific server (makes it easier for guild to transfer). Then offer incentives to transfer to lower tier servers (maybe when a server moves up in rank, anyone who fought x amount in wvw that week gets some goodies)

-reset the glicko ratings

-create official mumble/ts servers for each world, let people get ts/mumble info with an ingame command and launch with an ingame command, automatically getting ts/mumble username with their guild and name, into the channel for their current battleground. People with commander tags up launch in with privileges to create new sub-channels and mute players. Make everything about the new ts/mumble support known to players, including a hint that shows up when someone first enters wvw. This makes it easier for wvw newcomers to become actual wvw-ers, not just “pve-ers clogging up wvw”, as a newbie in the TS/mumble is generally more valuable than an expert player not in the mumble

To BG, JQ, SoS, FA, MaG

in WvW

Piogre.2164

I love how a celebratory end-of-tourney post has taken its natural evolution and become a kitten-flinging contest between servers. As is tradition, it seems it’s once again BG versus the worlds.

That said, I seriously hope people don’t think BG is outnumbered by anyone except during really odd hours, and while I don’t endorse DDOS attacks on TS, I must admit I giggle cheerfully when BG whines about it happening to them, when back in SoR our TS would get DDOS’ed continuously if-and-only-if we were facing BG that week.

It works out pretty simply. Dirt-bags are a demographic category. They are pretty evenly distributed. Since BG has more people (by far), they also logically have more Dirt-bags.

Elementalist attunements too subtle

in Profession Balance

Posted by: Piogre.2164

Piogre.2164

Time and time again, when facing off against an elementalist, I find that it becomes really difficult to judge what attunement they’re in. This makes it really difficult to make informed actions against an elementalist. Putting an icon that you see when you target them is simply not useful, and watching the skills they use makes it too difficult to focus.

While I don’t think eles need a nerf, I do think that some change is in order to fix this issue- namely, prominent visual tells on the character model itself. I’d propose this be done in the form of attunement-specific models worn on the ele’s back, so that we can clearly see them when the ele is facing our direction. This backpiece would not be optional- letting the ele hide it to show off their own backpiece skin would make them harder to play against. Instead, these backpacks would just kind of go over the equipped back piece- it wouldn’t hide it though, so the ele can still sort of show it off.

Each back piece should really embody the spirit of the attunement. I feel fire represents raw power, and constant consumption. I feel the best back model to represent this sheer, unbridled horse, to set it apart from the other attunements, would be a big brown bag. Maybe it could have some napalm in it or something, for an extra artistic touch.

The Water attunement, on the other hand, is regenerative. Water in the game is an energy of healing, of constant living and mending- an eternal current of life. I feel the best back model to represent this gentle, healing horse, to set it apart from the other attunements, would be a big brown bag. Maybe it could have an ankh on it or something, for an extra artistic touch.

The Air attunement is one of movement. Air gives mobility, and air takes it away. Air is controlling, and air is freeing. To be attuned to air is to be a leaf on the wind. I feel the best back model to represent this flowing, agile horse, to set it apart from the other attunements, would be a big brown bag. Maybe it could have some sparks coming out of it or something, for an extra artistic touch.

Finally, the attunement of earth is one of solidity, rigidity- yet at the same time, of constant motion. The element of earth is not a cold, dead element- but a living, flowing horse of rock and soil, both shielding and cutting, both sturdy and abrasive. I feel the best back model to represent this sturdy, but dynamic horse, to set it apart from the other attunements, would be a big brown bag. Maybe it could have some dirt in it or something, for an extra artistic touch.

I hope you will all consider my proposal. If you have managed to read this far and still think I’m serious about this (atrocious) addition, read my signature, and consider that given my main, I actually have to deal with this.

30 mins of killing - profession specific loot

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Piogre.2164

I dont quite get the rage against this feature. Im completely indifferent about it. What is so bad about it being prof-specific on lvl80 and how does that effect the economy of the game so badly?

Leather is almost worthless.
Silk is really pricey.

Light classes > medium classes

And to be precise, the best farming class now would be mesmer, to also have a chance for the best (GS) precursor material.

Except Mesmers are awful at farming. The best farming class would still be elementalists.

Especially since else’s have fewer total weapons, and have both daggers and staves.

Meanwhile I main an engie and get kitten upon by the new system.

CDI- Guilds- Guild Halls

in CDI

Posted by: Piogre.2164

Piogre.2164

I have a few things to suggest here, I’m going to start with this one. Each guild hall should look distinctive, and have the feel that it belongs to the guild. In addition to things like a hanging tapestry with the guild logo, upgrading to include various merchants and services and an SAB game console, and the ability of the guild leaders to determine the architecture and model (Norn architecture? Asuran?), and maybe swap out the carpet or something, there should be something more, something which distinguishes the guild itself.

Proposal:
Guild member statues and portraits, and item display cases.

Proposal Functionality:
Allow an upgrade to take a snapshot of another guild member’s current character, and create a full-color statue of that character in their current gear, in one of a few selectable poses. Then allow this statue to be placed in one of several spots in the guild hall- perhaps with an interact node giving the player’s name.

Additionally, have a similar function to make a full-body or chest-up portrait of a character, to be places on a wall in the guild hall.

Finally, allow a guild member to create a display-case to be hung on the wall, containing one of their items (the item is not consumed), which holds the model on display in the guild hall.

Associated Risks:
Unsure how this would be implemented safely, not sure how many systems it touches.

What do rangers need?

in Profession Balance

Piogre.2164

Longbow needs some more looks at- they might have gone a bit overboard with making it good.

And aside from that, as people said above, ranger pets need work. A lot of work. Let us stow them in combat. Let us permastow the pets, so they don’t pop out when we leave/enter water or sprain our ankles. Let us bind the “stow pet” button to a key. Let us give them better direction controls. Most importantly, let the pets do what player characters can do and attack while moving so that their actions are more fluid and effective.

[Suggestion] Remove a stat from celestial

in Profession Balance

Posted by: Piogre.2164

Piogre.2164

I’ve been playing something close to my current build on engie since before celestial weapons and armor were added. After they were added, I went to them immediately, wanting to spread out my assets to match my relatively jack-of-all-trades build. As it stands now, my build has gone mostly unchanged, and falls pretty well into this “might stacking celestial” archetype.

In my opinion, removing a stat from celestial hurts the archetype it represents- I’d much rather see a blanket reduction to all stats, if it indeed needs a nerf. That said, I’m inclined to think might would be the better target for a nerf- by reducing the amount of stacks given by certain skills.

In its current state, though I can’t speak for all celestial, might-stacking engies, I can describe how to beat my build, which may or may not be useful in beating others:

-I have no stability, and no stun break. I have one “surprise shot” bullet and one “vent smoke” blind which can be fired from stun- that’s it. I dish out CC, but I can’t take it.

-I have one condition cleanse, which knocks out two conditions. I use this as part of the several steps I need to perform to heal. Using it at other times screws up my heal rotation. Interrupting any of these several steps, or nuking one of my turrets, also screws up my heal rotation.

-Restacking my combo-field might also screws up my heal rotation, and by that I mean skips a cycle. During the fight, my might stacks will go down, not up unless I take no damage and want to gamble. (Your vulnerability will go up, though.)

-Anything that mitigates projectiles is hard for me to deal with. I do not have a melee weapon, and my flamethrower is difficult to use for damage if you’re paying attention.

-My two big-damage and vuln-inducing attacks (grenade barrage and jump shot) are telegraphed, ground target AOE’s. Interrupting the jump shot will throw it on FULL cooldown, not the reduced cooldown normally caused by interrupts.

-If i remember correctly, I have at most 3 boons- might, swift, and regeneration. consider that because of speedy kits I expect to either currently have swiftness or receive it by swapping to a kit- if I don’t have it I am caught off guard.

-I also swap kits like a madman, which counts as skill uses. It usually takes two skills at least to proc my condition cleanse- if it’s off cooldown (It’s not though- I detonated that turret as my heal rotation, or to stack might). Confusion wrecks me.

I rely HEAVILY on movement and positioning for my skills. Torment, cripple, chill, and immobile all destroy my ability to fight.

Names have been changed to protect the guilty

Piogre.2164

Hmm, without knowing what server you’re on, I can’t comment if it’s happening or not. But in my server’s case (TC), I haven’t seen any evidence of 2v1 going on.

Week 1: BG vs JQ vs TC. BG came out all guns blazing and absolutely stomped the two of us. Last tournament JQ and TC double-teamed BG with great success, but it seems we opted to play open season this time around. At the end of the week, JQ and TC were fighting tooth and nail to come in 2nd, but JQ eventually pushed hard at the 11th hour to retain their lead.

Week 2: TC vs FA vs Mag. No contest here; TC absolutely crushed FA and Mag with our superior numbers. I ended up spending most of my WvW time in EotM since I didn’t want to demoralise the other two guys anymore.

Week 3: BG vs TC vs SoS. BG is winning, obviously, but SoS is making a good showing even though it’s pretty obvious they’ll come in third. No evidence of any double-teaming going on as far as I can see. It seems like this week all three servers are focusing on defending their Borderlands and EBG patches, making only smaller pushes into each other’s territories.

I feel like this post would be better explained if we knew which server OP was on.

I forsee three possibilities:

1: There is a legitimate 2v1 going on in some other league we don’t know about.

2: OP’s server is bottom of its league (like Maguuma in ours), got screwed by how the league lines were drawn, and is just outnumbered by both opponents each week.

3: OP is on BG and is still kittening about last season’s big 2v1 (done in response to a guild-shopping-spree on BG’s part, as well as being a vengeful act of thoseof the SOR exodus in JQ and TC)

On the issue of reporting players

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Piogre.2164

Piogre.2164

The report-player system needs an overhaul. By this I mean it needs several new categories added and/or a write-in box to clarify your report.

Yesterday, while running with a medium-sized in eotm, I encountered a hacker in the zerg. Because he was on our team, he posed no threat to us. However, he very clearly teleported around the zerg every couple of seconds (using more teleports that a mesmer would ever have available) and whenever we came up to a walled objective, he’d port right up to the top of the wall instantaneously and drop a portal to try to get other people to go up as well. He repeated these actions several times, and when I targeted him, my group members responded that they saw it too. Upon attempting to report him, I realized that there was NO report function for “hacking”- I went with “botting”, which is not strictly an accurate report, but I didn’t wish to leave the incident unreported. The report UI also didn’t include the handy write-in box that the bug-report UI has, which would have helped clarify the situation.

Please Anet, the report function needs categories for hacking, seige griefing, and exploiting, and needs a write-in.

These forums are a huge and very effective medium for communication.

If all devs communicated as effectively and frequently as you and maybe 2 others did, Gaile, this would be true.

As it is, there are several areas in which these forums have proved ineffective. The SAB [merged] thread has over 600 posts asking for dev response, and none has been given. This topic was virulent enough that it seems to have merited a merge to keep it contained, but it still has not received a single dev response.

The Hobo Sacks: A Terrible Fashion Statement has over a thousand posts to it, and only one dev response, from over a year ago, of a single programmer’s thoughts on the issue. It has received no attention since.

These topics aren’t alone- there are several other large issues that are brought up and either ignored by devs, or commented on for a bit then ignored before the issue is resolved.

You are good at what you do, but you can’t be expected to cover everything, and most other devs on the forums have not delivered to the extent players expect, leaving many forum-goers disillusioned and lacking confidence in the forums as a method of getting attention on issues.

EDIT: Credit where it’s due, Gaile has responded the the SAB thread. Thank you for the communication.

Guild Wars 2 - is the name still suitable?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Piogre.2164

Star Trek Enterprise- is the name still suitable?

If we look back at the original series of Star Trek, a “trek through the stars”, and exhibiting new worlds and civilizations was, (generally speaking), the focus of the show. Throughout new series (Next Generation, Deep Space Nine, and Voyager), the name Star Trek became less and less representative of the actual core show – the focus increasingly shifted to expanding the overarching plot (That is at least my opinion based on watching all of the content since release of Star Trek: The Original Series). Since Star Trek Enterprise launch, i feel like the name is not appropriate and should be changed to something more descriptive of its actual content. (I understand the early beginnings of Star Trek: The Original Series had alot of stars and treks between them in it, but still, its been along time since then and things have changed).

Example : I am a guy and i go to the store. I see Star Trek Enterprise and buy it. My initial thoughts would be:
“Wow! Star Trek Enterprise! Man, i can’t wait to watch the Enterprise trek through the stars and stuff.”

When really, the name like Enterprise- The Later Years or whatever would be much more suitable if you know what i mean.

Do we have stars in the show? yes. Do we have treks in the show? yes. But those treks are NOT star treks but it is a journey of advancing the plot. There is no Epic journey to explore strange new worlds in the show. (the only time star trek is mentioned in the show is in the title.). That is like saying A New Hope should be named “Star Wars” because there was a war in space. —> No Star Trek in Star Trek Enterprise. Everything about treks between stars – star trek is a leftover from the prequels The Original Series, The Next Generation of the original show.

Ladies and gentlemen, OP’s argument applied to anything else.

[Suggestion] Titles from Personal Story

Racial titles:

Hero of Shaemoor- on completion of the “Defending Shaemoor” story step
Warband Legionnaire- on completion of the “Fury of the Dead” story step
Wyld Hunt Valiant- on completion of the “Fighting the Nightmare” story step
Slayer of Issormir- on completion of “The Great Hunt” story step
Snaff Prize Savant- on completion of the “Snaff Would be Proud”, “The Snaff Prize”, “The Things We Do For Love”, or “Defusing the Problem” story step

Order titles:

Novice- on completion of the “Setting the Stage” story step after joining the Durmand Priory
Explorer- on completion of the “Mightier than the Sword” story step
Magister- on completion of the “On Red Alert” story step

Initiate- on completion of the “Setting the Stage” story step after joining the Order of Whispers
Agent- on completion of the “An Apple a Day” story step
Lightbringer- on completion of the “Suspicious Activity” story step

Recruit- on completion of the “Setting the Stage” story step after joining the Vigil
Crusader- on completion of the “Minister’s Defense” or “Quaestor’s Siege” story step
Warmaster- on completion of the “Forewarned is Forearmed” story step

Finally, Pact titles:

Commander of the Pact- on completion of the “Forging the Pact” story step
Champion of Orr- on completion of the “The Source of Orr” story step
Slayer of Zhaitan- on completion of the “Victory or Death” story step

These, to the best of my knowledge, are the exact missions in which the titles are awarded, with the exception of the Initiate, Recruit, and Novice titles, which have been moved from the 5 possible racial stories in which the player joins the respective orders, to the one story step everyone goes through right after.

People have posted differing accounts on the “greatest fear” story line’s current situation- be it that it was removed, or hidden from storyline. I can’t tell if these differing accounts have been resolved yet.

I can attest to my particular case. Pre-patch, my necro was level 28 and had completed the story through the level 31 order of whispers mission. Post patch, I spent the week power-leveling in Eotm and playing the story. The “greatest fear” story missions were skipped over entirely. Other story missions which refer to those missions were not changed to reflect this.

Following the retaking of claw island I was directed to the rancor ruins mission, then to fort trinity for the claiming of the fort mission. The pale tree DID ask what my character’s greatest fear was, and I gave the response which normally leads to the Tonn storyline- some missions later, Trahearne’s one-on-one speech to my character about Tonn’s death was left intact. My character at no point had any missions interacting with Tonn.

This may not be the case for everyone, but it is what happened with my post-patch run through.

Please Remove Map Completion from PvP Areas

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Piogre.2164

Piogre.2164

It seems a large amount of people save the wvw zones for last, which surprises me, because it is an exceedingly short-sighted decision. When I tell people this, their response is generally “meh, I’ll get to it eventually”. These people then come and whine on the forums when they can’t get the borderlands in one week.

If you are working on map completion on a character, check wvw EVERY WEEK. Get everything you can in every BL when you check, because next week you will likely be a different color and no longer be able to access those things, instead gaining access to other things. It’s a good idea to check every day, as the BL keeps are fairly transient. Don’t wait until the end of your map completion efforts, do this concurrently with working on tyria.

Alternatively, if your server has a WvW teamspeak, mumble, or vent, check that on thursday night or friday morning to see if there’s a karma train in one of the BL’s that night- those typically cycle through every keep and tower (aka everything you have to own to get the POI)

and believe me, I have the biggest reason to be annoyed by this- back when I was building the predator, I was on SOR in t1 pre-BG, during JQ’s seemingly unending reign. Though I had full coverage of the BL’s from WvW with my guild, my guild rarely went to EB, leaving me short by one vista in the green keep- and since back then wvw colors were based on rank, JQ would not only never lose that keep, they’d be green as long as they kept winning- again, forever. So I payed the gem prices to transfer to HoD and back to get that keep, only to see JQ collapse the next week, losing the keep and bumping us to green the week after.

Arabic Language (chat text) in Guild Wars 2

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Piogre.2164

I didn’t mean the game language, I meant I just wanted to be able to type in arabic and be able to read in chat. Thats all.

They are unlikely to support any languages that do not have official language version. Any such version requires a lot of investments, some of which are one-time (initial translations).

He doesn’t want localization- all the game language can remain in english or whatever. He just wants character support- This shouldn’t be that hard; it should take a few hours to refactor the chat to use standard unicode instead of whatever it uses.

Black Lion Key Farming

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Piogre.2164

I’ve been doing grove and rata sum completion, then grabbing the first few hearts in rata sum and queensdale- not too troublesome, takes a bit longer but I also get 2 transmutation charges (which I use a lot of). For this I usually run warrior instead of the old guardian meta because I can use sword #2 to traverse cities right out of the tutorial level, instead of waiting for the #3 skills on gs and staff

Nice! I’ll have too look into this. About how long do you estimate per run?

Close to an hour, actually. Following the tutorial I warp up to dwayna’s wp in DR (already unlocked, nab the speed boost person on my way north past the minister’s wp, up to the palace wp then south through the asura gate to LA. I have optimized routes for quick completion of the grove and rata sum.)

I have one premade set of level 4 power gear for when I finish the grove and Rata sum, which gets me to level 4 at least. I then leave Rata sum and hit hearts: Doola, gahf, opticalium, Kaii scrap suit, Blopp, nabbing the convenient POI’s on the way, then warp back and run through the funhouse for shoon, then talk to all the skritt for the brill alliance- this gets me to about level 8.

I then warp back to shaemoor wp (first wp in queensdale), and hit the normal hearts farmer diah, fishermen, kitten , orchard, moas/bandits, then warp to shaemoor garrison to nab centaur heart and the skritt heart just north, which brings me to level 10. I then warp to the bank, switch to premade level 10 power gear, and run the story.

Again, about an hour for a key, which is not the fastest, but no gold spent on crafting- just a one-time expenditure for the two gear sets. Also, two trans charges in the process.

Mist Herald Back Item Skin

Piogre.2164

Like I already stated in this thread https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/gw2/About-the-new-Mist-Herald-Back-item/first I think that the color should change when entering in WvW.

The brown should become green/blue/red depending on which color your world is currently associated with.

I’ve wanted a “team spirit” dye for ages- matches your pvp team while in a pvp match, and at all other times matches your wvw team.

In the mean time, each of my characters has 3 red/green/blue colors to switch out every week…

Key Farming (exploit) Y/N?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Piogre.2164

Piogre.2164

To echo what Gaile said in the aforementioned thread brought up by Healix, key farming is not considered an exploit.

You say its not an exploit, but you sure made it a much more time consuming process. I almost feel like this is the only reason you changed the story content, as there is no positives from limiting players from accessing content immediately upon starting the game… Its a real shame your going that route to trying to push people to pay for keys who were never going to buy them to begin with.

https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/account/Are-Black-Lion-Key-runs-an-exploit/first#content

Look at the top of this (earlier linked) thread, where a dev says in no uncertain terms that key runs are not an exploit, but they may change the rewards down the road. This thread is from a year ago. They said this may happen, and now it has.

Add vistas to that list.

Why would they remove these from the map?

They were “too confusing to new players”. No, I don’t get it either. Nobody gets it, except Anet, apparently.

Gem Store Items suggestions thread

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Piogre.2164

Piogre.2164

Since Arenanet seems keen on monetizing this game, I figured we could all do them a favor by making a thread of suggestions for things we would spend money on, so they know what would make the most profit. I’ll start with a few suggestions of my own.

Personal Super Adventure Box- 800 Gems:

Miss the old arcade version of the Super Adventure Box? Now you don’t have to! For the price of just 800 gems, you can have your very own Super Adventure Box in your home instance, accessible any time of the year!

Ghostly Scavenger- 800 Gems:

Tired of getting loot bags dropped by you in WvW after you’re already dead, which you can’t loot because your zerg wipes and you have to waypoint back to base? For just 800 gems, you can hire a ghostly scavenger to follow you around and pick up your bags for you, so you can pick everything up from him after you respawn!

Anonymizing Agent-400 Gems:

Sick of loot drops that you can’t use, but also can’t sell because of soulbinding? Or perhaps you want to sell your old armor after changing up your build? Well now, for just 400 gems per 25-use purchase, you can remove that pesky soulbinding or account-binding and place those goods right back onto the market!

Mystic Plunger- 800 Gems:

Frustrated with the mystic forge? Devastated at having thrown your valuable items in and received nothing of value? Fear not! Now, for just 800 gems per 25-use purchase, you can use the mystic plunger on the mystic forge to undo your previous forging!

NPC Leash- 800 Gems:

Sick of NPC’s in your story missions forgetting how to walk, blocking your story progress and forcing you to restart? Now, for just 800 gems, you can use a leash on Trahearne, Zojja, Rytlock, or any other friendly story NPC to forcibly drag them around the level- ideally, into the trigger area for the story quest, so you can continue the story.

Endless Lipstick Tonic- 1000 Gems:

Upset about the latest patch? Maybe your favorite profession got heavily nerfed, Arenanet added a new bug which won’t be fixed for a while, a new “feature” made the game less enjoyable, or maybe something you really hoped would be fixed by now was, once again, ignored. Whatever issue you have with the new patch, this tonic won’t fix it. However, next time a patch rolls around, you can at least make yourself look pretty before Arenanet gives you the new update.

You make money and We have fun! =D Everybody Wins!

Sell an 800-gem “Gift of Super Adventure” that places a smaller Super Adventure Box in our home instances accessible all the time. This is the only thing I’ll buy gems for from now on, at least until you make some major changes in other things.

Hobo Sacks: A Terrible Fashion Statement

Piogre.2164

Then it’s a case by case basis, because before the patch my spinal back piece ‘wings’ would clip through my kit packs terribly (didn’t mind too much as the effect was kind of cool).
Now, when I wear my FT kit all traces of the spinal are gone until I stow the kit.

Tested on my 2nd Engineer with a variety of other pack pieces (slick pack, jet pack, gem shop, etc) – All traces of clipping are gone.
I admit I do not have the SAB back piece, so maybe they forgot about that one.

Both before and after the patch, I’ve had times when my backpiece doesn’t render at all, and therefore doesn’t clip with hobosacks when they’re out, until it eventually loads and you can see it (at which point it clips). This is not a new change; it’s a bug? that existed before the patch.

So...about these Collections + SAB

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Piogre.2164

I’m all for SAB to be open year round. They feel that we wouldn’t want it unless it had something new. There are a lot of us who barely had a chance to play it on top of all the other things we had to do during the first LS. Not to mention how much special SAB currency we needed to get even one skin. 12,500 baubles. I think I get less than 100 after playing for an hour.

I physically ache to be able to play tribulation mode again- it’s my favorite part of the game, and it’s simply gone indefinitely, until further notice.

Come on, Anet, what better way to market your new stupid collections achievements than by reopening the SAB and having people collect those skins?

What’s broken about it….it’s a WvW area. Don’t go there if you are not prepared to fight another player. Per above, don’t initiate an attack and you will likely not be attacked.

As for the puzzle itself I assume when Anet decided to put a jumping puzzle into a PvP map they intended other people to be part of the challenge.

This is entirely true. However, OP specifically mentions:

that some ppl can just stay in one spot the whole time waiting to screw others out of the chance to finish this

by which I assume he means the people who sit on the ledge above the chandelier room (right after the dark room), entirely out of reach from attacks from below, and throw ranged CC (mesmer focus pulls, etc) at people trying to ascend, creating a virtually impassable roadblock until they get bored and leave. The issues with this particular section have been brought up time and time again by players, and Anet does nothing. A pvp puzzle is great. One that gives no fighting chance against whoever happens to be on top at the time is no good.

I think small guilds would Ally . WvW guilds would. And potentially for PVE content to with larger guilds. And WvW alliances with pve guilds. I have been adopted by a WvW Zerg Smashing guild called Helioz on TC and they wanted to ally with a PVE guild to do the content.

Depends on how progression is distributed and the communication channels etc.

Chris

Hey, I know Helioz. Back when I was on SOR (and they were, too) my old, now-dormant guild used to team up with them and another guild to take out some of the tougher guild challenges together- each week we’d all help each other with the challenges, puzzles, etc.

On that note, one feature which would really help a guild alliance system would be the ability to share a guild mission- this would be really beneficial for guilds which are smaller or have lower guild mission attendance.

we all Learnt to play MMO’s at one point in our life.

why is this quote coming across that we were somehow born with the skills to play MMOs…

what a TERRIBLE TERRIBLE TERRIBLE patch this has been.

worst MMO NPE in history

That’s the thing though, every MMO (and everything else) is someone’s first. I can see the logic behind this but I think the execution in of itself is severely flawed.

This was my first MMO. Not because I’m particularly young, but because I’d only ever played other genres. I learned just fine; everything made sense to me. I organically learned to dodge, and how to fight, even how combo fields work (though I had to look up the chart to learn all the combos). Any details I couldn’t figure out or wanted more info on I checked the wiki for. (One of the many hints they could have added but DIDN’T is to use the /wiki <keyword> command to learn more about something)

Had this system been in place when I first tried the game on a friend’s spare character slot, I’d have not even purchased it. This is insulting to anyone with two brain cells to rub together. They locked off a bunch of stuff that made the game cool, and called it a “reward”, and blocked access to useful features in the name of not “confusing” people. And somehow, they DIDN’T add useful hints that people would otherwise likely miss, like a COMBO FIELD tutorial, a /WIKI COMMAND hint, or instructions on JOINING SQUAD- you know, stuff that isn’t easily learned organically.

Proposal Overview:
Guild Instances

Goal of Proposal:
To help with QoL issues for Guild missions, boss runs, RP, and various other guild activities.

Proposal Functionality:
Purchased/activated with influence and/or merits by a guild leader or officer (changeable permissions), creates a new instance of a chosen map for a determined amount of time. All representing members of the guild may enter this instance through the guild menu. This would be ideal for guild missions, guild boss or event runs, or guild RP. Ideally, guild-instances of city maps would have the areas which are normally instance-only available as part of the main instance for this last purpose.

Associated Risks:
Possible server load restrictions do to increased map instances, possible issues combining the small instance-areas in cities into the larger instance, and of course possible map population decrease during boss events and in cities

Usually this level of hand-holding doesn’t come in until an MMO is on its last leg and doing anything it can to grab and maintain new blood. This is just pathetic that it’s come to this just after 2 years.

Just seems like a dangerous precedent.

Had this system been in place when I first tried the game (on a friend’s spare character slot) I’d have concluded it was like other mmo’s (which I did not like) and quit within an hour. I’d not have even purchased the game.

I can't possibly recommend this game anymore

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Piogre.2164

Piogre.2164

Were I to recommend this game to friends, upon starting a character and beginning to play through, they would assume I’ve been playing a kid’s game. In fact, I’m almost inclined now to lie to people when they ask what I’ve been playing lately.

I can’t imagine the thought process that lead to the conclusion that less freedom is a good thing, which would make new players more interested in the game. I rolled up an alt to see the changes and feel insulted. Anyone with two brain cells to rub together should feel insulted. This is absolutely juvenile, especially when it is being applied to both new players and vets rolling alts alike.

I sincerely hope that the dev’s silence to the feedback on this patch is in preparation to reverse the many issues, not a tactic of “ignore it until it goes away”.

I will not be purchasing gems until something major changes. When asked if GW2 is any good, my response will be “It used to be great, but it went downhill.”
