This has been asked before, and was implemented – but somehow only for Lion’s Arch.
Of course other places (Rata Sum……) have many different gates, too. I never understood why they didn’t implement for all of them.

The daily is different every day. Most days it is really easy, like “take a balloon ride” (yesterday), “defeat a champion”, “compete in the gauntlet” or “kill 50 things in the pavilion while representing x” (which is still very doable if you pull them in small groups, even without a zerg).
If the daily is broken and doesn’t count towards the meta (it definitely DID count a week ago, before I had finished the meta) then that’s a completely separate issue and you should open a bug ticket or post in the bug sub forum about it.

Isn’t it rather sad that the most popular feature of GW2, is a mini-game that has nothing to do with GW2?
I honestly think it isn’t.
The unique strength of GW2 (when compared to other MMOs) is its diversity. It offers so, so many different things to do in the base game already, and with the Living Story concept, every month feels a little different and offers even more different things to do.
Some people love large-scale farming zergs, and they got their way in August; some people love platforming, and they get their way in September.
And it’s not like the majority of the population will keep playing SAB every day for the rest of GW2’s days… in April, most of my friends who loved the SAB very much, said that after a full month they were sort of glad that it went away. 4 weeks was really enough at a time. I felt the same! Now in September, It will be a nice distraction from the daily routine of “dailies – boss fights – crystal infusion”, and after a month we will look forward to something completely different.
So no, I don’t find that sad or worrying at all.

Hmm? You can do the daily whenever you want. It could be a torch run (single player), or representing one of the factions while killing stuff in the pavillion (which is harder now, but can be done in small groups), taking part in the gauntlet (strictly single player), or doing balloon events (easy to solo in low level maps).
You don’t depend on other players, and I definitely don’t see how this means you have to be online 24/7. Or even every day.

I took part in the event and I bought most the the recipes off the TP during. Some recipes dropped for me more times than I needed and others didn’t drop at all.
If every single recipe was given to every single player… then the entire concept of recipes would be obsolete.
Oh and hey, you know what’s obtainable in-game, same chance for every player? Precursors. Soooo fun.

I didn’t mind the twisted shoulder skin… until my friend said that it looked like a cybernetic shoulder parrot. He really doesn’t like them…. but since that moment, I’ve loved them.
I am already running around with the zephyr rucksack for the Toucan and runes of the pirate for the Parrot, and now my magic find “pirate themed” outfit is complete with a robot shoulder parrot. <3
I would support the addition of more “twisted” armour parts. I don’t think I’d ever go “full cyborg” but I love to mix & match so much; I think individual parts combined with other armour parts could lead to some exciting combinations.
So… yeah. +1
Edit PS: I also have a deep-rooted love for asymmetric shoulder skins, probably from my history of playing archers in other games.

I’m a bit late to the party, but I just got my 5 gambits achievement following your directions (I had bookmarked the thread just in case I ever make it to tier 3). I got the 3 gambits one as well as frailty+squeamish on my own, but sort of hit a wall there.

Absolutely. I cannot +1 this enough.
And it is not just about putting you back on your original server & map: it is also about running PvP matches, any map-exclusive buffs (such as the aspect buffs in Labyrinthine Cliffs and the Settlers/Consortium buffs in Southsun).
Here’s what I wrote in another thread:
[…] put us back on the map AND server that we DCed from*. And on the same map and server, maybe retain any active buffs required to complete the content.
I’ve had random disconnects before and it screwed me up quite a few times, examples:
- DC in Southsun, reconnect, end up in a completely different overflow in the middle of an angry mob instead of the event that you were just partaking in / a liberated camp / the zerg you were running with
- DC in Southsun, the Settler/Consortium buff is gone, and you have to WP (if you’re not in combat immediately, see above) and fight your way back to your original location
- DC in Labyrinthine Cliffs, logged back in, be somewhere up the airship stripped of all aspect charges, left with no other option than to WP and start over
- DC in Chaos Clockwork zerg, you come back in, different overflow or original map where the event has been finished
- DC in Scarlet dungeon, entire party was kicked even though I never left the party and was back in game within 2 minutes
I don’t know what’s so hard about remembering the ID of the actual server and map that a player last played on and placing the character back THERE, with buffs intact, should they reconnect within so and so many minutes.
DCing is bad enough without the game’s memory blanks. It would spare us a lot of heartache.

I’ll have to find the study, but I’ve heard one referenced that when women make up 33% of the people, people tend to see it as half of the group…when they actually are 50%, then people tend to see it as women are overrepresented.
If you ever find it again, I’d be really interested in reading more about this.

Also, you may not be aware of it yet, but you can go to every nation’s starting zone. In your own race’s capital, there is a pink Asura gate that leads to Lion’s Arch, a connecting hub. From there you can enter each other thw other 4 racial capital cities, and through them, the other 4 starting zones. So you can get <nation> killer in Kryta, Ascalon, Shiverpeaks and Maguuma from level 1.

It’s not Anet’s fault you have a bad connection, there is nothing they can do.
/rolleyes
Nobody expects ANet to do anything about their internet connection, or to make them not DC ever.
We kind of do expect ANet to put us back on the map AND server that we DCed from. And on the same map and server, maybe retain any active buffs required to complete the content.
I’ve had random disconnects before and it screwed me up quite a few times, examples:

The boss fight:
I enjoyed it. A lot.
- Scarlet gave us hints so we could work out the mechanics on our own (“Cannonballs, my only weakness…”, etc.)
- … plus we knew the mechanics already from other boss fights (such as Mai Trin and the first gauntlet dude).
- It didn’t wipe us all the time. It could have been a little harder, sure, but mainly I’m happy that it wasn’t the frust-fest that Mai Trinn was.
- It wasn’t on a timer.
- Even if we would have wiped, we wouldn’t have had to start over, but only start with the current phase.
All in all, well done. I enjoyed this a lot and ran the dungeon a few more times than absolutely necessary because of it.
The Playhouse itself:
- IT SCALES. (And people said it couldn’t be done…)
- Re-using the pavillion was a good idea, but I do wish Scarlet would have re-decorated it a little more to give it a more distinct flair.
- The cauldron was fun.
- Playing Pac-Man in the centaur section was fun.
- Sneaking around mobs was… appreciated.
- LOTS of NPC dialogue, lovely. Hobo-Tron, lovely. Some of the dialogue should have been (skippable) cinematic, such as the talk between Anise and Logan at the end.
Achievements:
- The “Faren in 3 minutes” one took us more than a few tries, but eventually we got it.
- Staying alive, doable in a small group and reminded me of fractal achievements. We took turns – some of us would do the kiting of Scarlet into cannon balls and barrels while others hung back to be safe. It seemed to encourage teamplay and different roles this way, which I enjoyed.
- Haystack: Silly fun, but would have been even more silly fun with goggles.
While I’m at it, goggles on top of the giant Hawk would have been great, too.

Hence why I wouldn’t mind the journal some of us got to be changed into a Living Story book. That would contain those cutscenes even after the event is over into one nice little spot. (Keeps the inventory from being cluttered from other books being added as well.)

It’s probably an old monthly that you didn’t finish at the time and that is shoing up on your “nearly completed list” because someone forgot to hide it there.
When the new achievement UI was released, we had old living story achievements pop up there, too.
So I suspect that the number won’t go up when you craft new stuff.

I was in it for intrinsic rewards at first, but that slowly changed over time.
As a new player, I loved running around together with my boyfriend’s character, discovering stuff, exploring, enjoying awesome views, enjoying the landscapes… it was all very satisfying because it was new. We also made new friends and socialised. We did fractals for the first time.
When all that new-ness wore off I shifted more towards looking at extrinsic rewards. Money became an issue, so I could buy armour and weapon skins. Achievement hunting became a thing. Map and dungeon path completion became a thing. Getting all fractal achievements became a thing.
Now here’s the deal: I am a person who reacts extremely well to extrinsic motivators. So while the “feeling” of GW2 changed, I’m still happy playing it. Not as happy as before – differently happy. But I know that there are people who extrinsic motivators don’t work on, and they are the ones who leave GW2 after the first phase.
I can work with the extrinsic stuff fine, especially as some of the intrinsic motivation is still there – regular injections with living story, still socialising, etc. But I realise that this isn’t enough for some.

Excellent additions, Rayti
as for “messing with” stuff such as “floaty things”, I’m not speaking in character here; but if there is “correct terminology” I would love to use it… if I could find out what it is
(So far I’ve only tried the wiki, and this thread.)
As for my Asura’s background: she’s very clumsy, but doesn’t know it. Her master sends her on all sorts of errands throughout Tyria, mainly to get her out of the lab so she won’t bang up his stuff. I rerolled her a few times, she’s a 25 warrior now and I’m quite okay with that. She’s upbeat and happy and a people person. I would love for her to be smart in one field of Asura science at least (clumsy =/= dumb after all) but it shouldn’t be anything too… intricate. Maybe something engineery that requires a degree of physical strength.
~ Whips ~ City Minigames ~ City Jumping Puzzles ~
Seeing tons of players working together to help others complete a JP is one of the strongest aspects of the game. Don’t fix what aint broken.
To me it looks more like one person completing a jumping puzzle (without any “working together” by “tons of other players”)… and then porting others directly to the reward. If that’s cool for you then that’s fine, but then there’s no reason to distort what’s going on.
Aside from the fact that ANet (and a large section of the player base) seems happy with the way it is implemented right now, so it won’t change, I also think the OPs suggestion wouldn’t work at all.
I have suggested before to implement a number of invisible checkpoints per jumping puzzle. Only if a character passes all the checkpoints (withouth knowing where exactly they are) they would get the achievement at the end. So people would still be able to port other people up to the end – and portees would still get the chest, just not the achievement. This, in my eyes, would be a fair solution. But I know by now that I’m the only one. :P
