They could reintroduce the cele amulet into PvP. Its afterall what ele is best at. Maybe give it a slight stat shave if it turns out too strong or too stally.
The use of candy corn that I learned from this comic.
This is great! I wouldn’t even be mad.
As with all things i think its about the effort.
If you are gonna throw siege on their bodies throw guild siege or omegas.
If you are gonna jump on their corpse consume a presigous transformation item first.
Or be creative in some other way. For example i would never have thought of using candy corn that way.
I think the main issue with the GS5 skill is how clunky it is. If you could just throw it out in a 360° radius and manualy aim it like the Guardian shot it would be a much better skill.
I mean all the balance aside the necro skill is hardly functional as it is but i also know that it has already gone through some iterations so maybe it can’t be made to work more smoothly from a technical standpoint.
Yes I always see entire 50 man zergs consisting only of druids, condi mesmers and condi thieves, they’re just that OP. kitten GREN, DMT is the new meta.
Not even the fake meta wants engi Q_Q
MORE KITS
…and something that gives us a place in high level PvE
Thier passive heal for being in water also puts in traited Resolve to shame as well by healing for ~300 more.
Dunno if you have considred this but the skill calc has wrong values on the scaling of soothing mist. It actually has a 1.0 scaling that you can double if you trait for it. The traited virtue would heal roughly for 300 every sec while the mist easily heals for over 800 in that timeframe. Even if you took the fully traited elite healing signet as well you still wouldn’t even come close. Not to mention that the signet only triggers every 10 secs and gets 300 range…
100% disagreed. While PvE players may have trouble playing piano while dealing with boss mechanics this would utterly destroy engi gameplay in PvP/WvW. Kit playstyle is integral to engi like symbols are to guardians.
I don’t think the problem is that its being super hard to play, heck thats kinda what you sign up for with engi. The issue is that it doesn’t offer anything for the PvE group. Give us a trait that does something people want like grace of the land and bam engi is wanted again. Or give us some kind of utility skill other than kits thats worth bringing in a group scenario. People were running slick shoes just fine before it got decimated.

Why applied force and hoelbrak over adaptive armor and strength?
It should work the same way as Phoenix (that ele fire scpeter skill) where its ground targeted. You still have to aim slightly behind your oponent to get maximum damage but it would be less buggy to use.
I hope you like immortality. Imo the lazy flamthrower juggernaut is still the most chill open world PvE build out there. No complex rotations or anything, flamethrower press 1 and you’re golden. you can even use your hammer now and then if you are feeling fancy. Anyway if you don’t want to bother with weapons armor and runes it works just fine in zerkers.
power does more dps in pve so it is superior in wvw
Higher DPS is largely true due to the damage multiplier traits which condi doesn’t get. In wvw/pvp however most people dont use those in favour of more defensive options. Also its dps on stationary targets while condi ticks on even if the target is blocking/evading. Just basing your argument on target golems and PvE build doesn’t hold any value. Heck if a d/wh ele actually did arround 30k dps on small targets then most players would die in about half a second. But then if the ele actually runs the build shown it is pretty realistic that he dies in half a sec.
Im not saying power > condi or vice versa. I think it entirely depends on the class and where you want to use it wvw.
First remove the AI minion crap, then change them into sigils with a fuel mechanic that can be activated early for a reduced effect or can be overfueled by letting them charge for more than their normal duration giving them a stronger effect.
Their effects can even stay exactly the same with reduced numbers but as a tradeoff guaranteed functionality.
In duels Paladin amulet generally has the advantage over zerker, but if you just wanna insta gib people who don’t expect it then full yolo is the way to go.

Flame Jet
- Increase range to 700.
You can now suicide to retal at 700 range
Condi trapper thieves because you cant “fight” them.
Guardian is probably one of the professions that has the easiest time staying full zerk. You have got lots of ways to avoid, mitigate or heal damage.
If you have trouble surviving take a hammer. If you have still trouble surviving or just want to play while watching a movie, take a hammer and swap dragonhunter for altruistic healing. This basicly lets you facecheck most PvE content you describe.
So yea stick with the good ol zerk. But there is an argument to be made for switching in some assassins.
The sad thing is that i wouldn’t get my hopes up for next expansion either. If something changed it would be pure chance…. Y’know like an accidental byproduct…
Come to SBI. Half our zerg is Rangers.
lol, I was gonna say… make a zerg with all Rangers.. I bet they would kick royal butt!
Inb4 Wall of Refection
the engi, thief, ranger situation has been there since forever. And since there is basicly no balance done for wvw thats unlikelyto change anytime soon.
First of all thank you for your effort!
For now i will just focus on explosives.
Explosives:
Grenadier: looks good.
Glass Cannon – imo its a bad trait. Boring, weak and situational.
Explosives rechage faster trait- i like it though this might be too strong for an adept.
Aim-Assisted Rocked – Wouldn’t light this green either. Bland auto procs with basicly no gameplay involved.
Short Fuse: its an interesting idea. applying cripple will help the bomb playstyle and make it harder for enemies to get away. Kinda bites with shrapnel though.
Siege Rounds: i think this trait is weak even though i like the gameplay and concept.
Thermobaric Detonation – 100% agreed. This could be an awesome trait that makes explosives more viable for many builds if only there wasn’t that huge clunky icd. Nerf the damage to the ground if you have to in order to make it balanced.
HELL NO! Whenever we press a button there is a 10% to randomly selfdestruct.
No seriously… what did you expect? Engi is as playable as it has always been. You will probably have to try harder than some other classes but every class is playable. Also balance changes rather suddenly in here so its pretty ridiculous to judge a class on the state of a single balance patch.
We also have reveal skills in game which completely negate one of our traitlines.
Which only Rangers, Scrappers and Heralds have.
So? Bringing them into game was a bad idea alone. If you’re afraid of stealthed enemies then run of these classes or ask a friend to do so.
Fought a perma stealth condi trapper thief in wvw today. Good fun.
While crap like this exists reveal traits are necessary.
^ thats probably because you didn’t tell your commander than you are playing frontline aurashare. I mean they can’t smell your build.
Then again things might differ from server to server.
In my experience aurashare healing ele is well accepted and widely used.
I don’t think i would play engi without kits. Its what gives versatility to our class and makes engi gameplay interresting.
What would be a better idea is to just accept that engis use kits to supplement their weapon swap.
Just like guardian smybols, kits should be more reflected in our traits than they are now.
If this is just a normal build and not specificly raids then just slap on a flamethrower with the apropriate talents press 1 and go make some tea
snip
You talk alot about what engi doesn’t have and i compltely agree.
I’d even throw WvW into the mix where engi has been sub par since basicly forever.
But on what i do not agree is that these nerfs overly hurt. PvE builds don’t care about the bulwrak nerf esp. in high tier play. Medic is an inconvenience at worst and the shock shield nerf won’t decide if a boss dies or lives either.
Bunker down does irk a bit because scrapper is the problen not the base engi.
I mean its fair to complain that engi is still unwanted in 2 out of 3 gamemodes but thats because nothing has changed yet again rather than these insignifcant nerfs that we recieved this patch.
I’ve seen people run so many builds of DH in unranked right now, and so many have been viable that i honestly see a guardian and i no longer know what i’m gonna be up against. Is it a bunker guard running shouts? A bunker guard running aegis? A trap guard? A medi guard? Is he running hammer, sword, focus, shield, bow, scepter, torch, mace or greatsword?
At this point i just wait to see what the DH is doing before i decide what he is.
This is pretty amazing.
Yep trying new stuff. Since sword is awesome now it works very well for condi builds. The symbol gets cast instantly with the teleport and the final hit in the chain hits 3 times. With this you can do many hits very quickly and enjoy having an offhand shield.
The great thing about guardian condi is that you don’t need crit or any other stat besides condi. This opens up the luxury of investing into healing power which circumvents not having AH while also helping your team.
With supreme justice getting rolled into permeating wrath and the two condi cleanses baseline you now also cleanse 5 condis on your f2 which were previously 0 for condi builds.
Dragonhunter gives you impoved f2 and f3 with also giving you cripple and vulnerability of every f1 proc. And you will proc those alot. The great thing is that these get applied in an aoe as well if you have permeating wrath. Like this you can cripple whole zergs permanently even if they have lots of cleanse.
With the sword symbol and the healing power that this build has got, i think writ of persistence is a good choice since you get more hits thus more burns out of your smybols while also getting some small consistent heals.
Since siege can also be condied now you can swap in a scpeter to kill some cannons and pepper some walls. With writ of persistence you also get suprisingly good area coverage out of your scepter 2.
You could probably swap out procession of blades for wall of reflection.
Currently running this in exotics, but this is what it will look like when i upgrade to asc.
(edited by Pride.1734)
I like how nobody mentions A.E.D.
yep still doesn’t exist
Plx nerf it.
I think after the patch i can finally enjoy the sound of gw2 again except for that one thing.
.. actually im fine with that
Gyros got kitten and nerfs to ai crap is a good thing in my book
Hammer got a shave and while its not fantastic, i can agree that it was too strong still.
Overall i like that scrapper got the nerfs instead of base engi.
Also condi engi for PvE got huge buffs no idea what you PvE players are complaining about.
The usual for WvW is marauders weapon&armor with knights trinkets. This should also serve you fine for general PvE minus raids/fractals.
And sadly no old cele engi isn’t what it used to be. Sure you can stil play it but most people have switched to power or straight up condi.
Necro, and ele have some very good cele builds and mesmers also do pretty ok. Not my field of knowledge but maybe druid as well.
0/10 we have more than enough minion crap on engi already
wow… ok… you actually use medblaster…. ok this will be my last post in this topic i think you are beyond helping.
Please make an ele take your healing build and use water 1 on staff. Guess what? chances are you have an attack that is much faster, has better range, has a hitbox and heals for about 4 or 5 times than what your little medblaster does. Heck even our healing bombs outclassed this skill bigtime in 2012 while still doing damage! You are beyond delusional if you think you are even close to contributing anything meaningfull to your team if you spend you time using the number one skill on your medkit.
Ok now your other point. You don’t have the waterfields to take advantage of the best blast finishers that the engi has. FT and EG have your best blasts on your shortest cooldowns but you cant use them to their full effectiveness. Heck even the MS has a shorter cd than your mortar strikes. You give up the little extra healing that the medkit trait gives you by having to choose a subpar option when using the medkit even without considering the ammount of healing that the HT itsself pushes out.
To conclude please post your build so i may laugh at you some more.
Ok lets talk sustained healing.
What benefits for your medkit swap? Elixir gun healing elixir and mortar healing shell. And orbital strike. And other toolkit blasts. You could take subpar options like the rocket or bumper turret to get additional blasts but you still cripple yourself wit this setup since the best blasts can’t benefit from your healing gimmick and you don’t have enough waterfields to fully utilize them even if you do use them.
What doesn’t benefit? Kit and weapon skills. Specificly the elixir gun blast and the flamethrower blast. Everything else aside, and only the ability to have enough waterfields to rotate a 6 second cd FT blast in a waterfield is better sustained healing than anything your little medkit gimmick could ever do.
Also "medblaster " lmfao i cant believe you said it.
No seriously if you are doing that please type /dance instead. Chances are the difference won’t be noticed.
Now don’t get me wrong i love the idea of a support engi and having played alot of healing bomb support engi in the past i can see your desire to get something functional going in 2016. But do not cling to a useless gimmick.
Yes but only because i don’t want to swap my whole armor arround just to go into a golem :p
Ok cool. I won’t take the trouble to check your numbers.
((2520 +0,5*2000)*1,4 ) *4 = 19712
thats just the field without any blasts or regeneration on a far shorter cooldown than what you got.
Now you you got another blast and can fire siege round into your HT and get some soothing detonations anyway. Then you can use your second waterfield and your mortar healing shell to get even more blasts without being so heavily reliant on one cooldown.
2 added waterfields an additional blast, good healing scaling and shot cd is better than any gimmick.
(edited by Pride.1734)
Sorry man but thats just plain Bullkitten.
Sure you can swap to the medkit to get a few hundred more heling out of your elixir gun and mortar impacts. But even if you do that its is by far inferior to the healing turret as a support option. The waterfield and aoe heal which scales pretty well with healing power is far better for support than the medkits little gimmick in every situation.
Back when you could thrown them in front of you and just run into your bandages i feel it was actually better than it is now. It always used to be the slow way to heal up but now its even less of a thing that i want to use in the heat of battle.
Just join a channel and ask them if its the right one?
Dunno i don’t see the problem.
This guy is pretty amazing, but honestly i couldn’t justify my place in a zerg or group with this gimmick.
So im not the hottest thief in town, but i had this crazy idea when i saw that venoms actually get decent healing scaling.
Am i just totally off the track or could you actually play this?
Also do venoms work with outgoing healing %?
Edit: whoops posted this on the wrong sub forum… then again its meant for wvw so maybe its alright. Please forgive me.
(edited by Pride.1734)
A bit outdated but should still work just the same.
Hey guys,
i would like to hear your opinions on the topic.
Also dagger warhorn vs dagger focus.
Good – Great at PvP
Unimpressive – Allright in PvE
Bad – Not so hot in WvW
Personally thats ok with me, I just hope that the next engi meta involves neither turrets nor gyros.
Not sure what the last update did but the game randomly stutters and then im suddenly through the floor if i happen to be at some point above ground level. I mean its nice to see the “inner workings” sometime but it kinda affects gameplay. Anybody else experienced this?
I really dont have a probelm with raids. GW2 has always been a game that tries to cater to many kinds of players. HoT advertised that it would also add challenging PvE content. It does that and its perfectly fine. Raids are well done and the poeple who do them enjoy them.
What i don’t like about them is that that there are quite a number of ascended stats trikets that can noly be gotten through raids. Even stats that have been in the game for a long time. I mean raids have unique weapon skins, legendary armor, minis and infusions. I’d say there is enough without having excusive access to lots of stats. I’d understand sumething like ascended vipers trinkets but for stuff like zealots which has nothing to do with hot content i really dont see the reasoning with them being raid only.
