Balance pretty okay i’d say. Contrary to what the above poster says there is quite a number of power builds you can play that also work very well. When i roam on my engi i pretty much never feel like it was some gross imbalance that killed me but rather me failing to dodge a key skill or missing an important interrupt in short my own fault. That being said condi mes still shts on everything in 1v1 but that has always been the case.
PS: balance being pretty okay considers the elite specs. Without them you will generally feel very underpowerd with a few exceptions.

Are squads which encourage blobs hurting wvw?

^ this pretty much. Rather than hurt wvw i think this is how the gamemode is supposed to be played. Epic fights between large numbers of players. “Blobbing” is more often than not the excuse of having lost to higher numbers.

Engineer as a whole is Useless in wvw

Why is that though?

Kind of a weird place of having no role. They don’t have unique stuff that makes them viable like warriors or mesmers. Ele’s also got the waterfields and do more damage. Guardians and Revs give more boons. And Thiefs make a better focus party. Doesn’t help that lots of the things engi does is projectile based. And the more players the more reflection walls and such are you gonna see.

You can throw grenades/shoot mortar behind you using the look behind button.
You can stow the kit right after using elixir gun 4 to cancel the leap. Can also be used to cancel the aftercasts of other kit skills.
Many aftercasts from the hammer skills can be canceled by swapping to a kit and stowing it again.
Stealth gyro doesn’t put your elite on cooldown if you swap it out before it expodes.
Toolbelt skills and kit skills don’t share cooldowns so you can swap utilitys arround to get all sorts of benefits before engagement.
Aiming static discharge in action camera mode is a thing.
Toolkit pull doesn’t always work how its supposed to. It helps a bit if you jump during the pull.
Never play pvp without alchemy and scrapper.

Warriors have been in the gutter long enough. And when its their time to shine its not even by a substantial margin or anything the way chrono was. Imo thieves are more of a prob these days. Warrior is just easier to do well with.

Using a hammer and my Gyros I make a tower completely alone. There is absolutely nothing better in WvW for a Roamer as a hammer.

On Topic:
Thats coz hammer engi is very easy to kite.
Engi’s are balanced on having kits instead of weapon swaps. So giving the engi more kits is the only meaningfull way to expand the class.

Obviuosly one that can traverse terrain and actually follow the player.. gyros aren’t too hot at that. And what for? So that we can have spirit rangers 2.0? It may seem like trolling to you but i assure you my hate for ai realted specs in this game is quite sincere.

Nerf it to the ground with all the other ai minion crap that this game has. Have turret engis. spirit rangers and mm necros taught you nothing? Gameplay that comes from them being good is just not fun.

Sure you can make them stupidly op by removing all cast times, low cooldowns and giving them ridiculous stuff like moblie reflects and mobile protection waterfields. But the minion itsself will still be crap because the ai in this game is flawed from the ground up.

My vote goes to giving all gyros the same cast times and cooldowns as spirit weapons so we wont ever see them again.

YDeserted BLs: Leave a keep, fall a lot, takes 30 minutes to run into someone else and have a good fight, even when zerg vs zerg!

A lot of us on non-national servers enjoy fights, if it takes 30 minutes of running around looking for one, you aint gonna have fun!

Looks like an open world build. I have the perfect zero effort open world build for you. You can even use your rifle because having some range and quick burst on high might is nice….. and because you camp FT 99% of the time.

Honestly if they’d drop the DBL citadel right where the alpine citadel is and smooth out the stupid amount of cliffs in a couple places it’d be golden. Right now just trying to get out of spawn makes me rage. It’s like a suburb of divinity’s reach…facing the wrong direction.

I felt exactly the same way when i first stepped foot on the map. Now i know all the pathes and drops by heart and i don’t even see the cliffs as an obstacle anymore.

That is actually kinda funny in a very cruel way.
Though i agree with you. To even go further i think that anyone should be able to use the new siege that gets added with expansions as they are crucial to the gamemode. Not being able to use elite specs and new stats is enough of a disadvantage imo.

Hesacon, no offense but the map is way smaller and it takes a much shorter timt to get to objectives. This is the main reason that people like it so much. You can actually defend things because you don’t have to spend 3 years running towards it. The frustration you feel is because you do not know how to naviage it yet.

There is more open space which makes it easier to do great zerg battles. And the keeps are not Blown out of proportion. And While this can be seen differently i greatly appreciate that there is less random annoyingness with auto turrets and stealth fog and rock walls and all that random jazz.

Yes DLB got better after the patch but they still have a long way to go to be really playable and after everyone was asking for alpines to come back i cannot fathom that this thread even exists.

They are aware of the server population imbalance and that some of the merges are not perfect yet. Thats why its a beta and things will change. They have done more for wvw in the past two weeks than we have seen in years. And most of these are good changes so don’t bite off their hand now.

What i don’t like about this is the same issue that i have with healing turret nerf. It weakens the base kit when its the elite spec that makes it broken.

Healing turret aint broken when you can’t do a tripple leap in it and moa isn’t broken either if you can’t use it twice. These skills have now been balanced arround their elite spec only.

Shatter is shatter no matter if it’s power or condi base. Playing mesmer takes skill & espacially timing or you die. Simple as that! If you dont time your shatters, They are bloc, dodged or just plain ignored & resisted. So i’m sorry, but your argument does not hold here. The rest..keep QQ’ing.. seems your high on that skill. sigh..:(

Mesmers have got sick invul block and evade duration… instant heal and condi clears… a one shot button… twice… and such immense and constant condi pressure that it doesnt even matter if the opponents dodge the clones… so uhh… skill?

Chasing meta shifts is a questionable reason to revisit skills.

Isn’t it like to main reason to ever do that apart from straight up bugs? Also getting one change in like forever seems to be hardly chasing.

But i get get it every guard seems to regard this weapon as perfectly fine and competitive, so it would be foolish to improve it

Its not just pvp. In wvw the only reason to use a mace is to get a shield offhand.

Thats not because of design or because of concept. It is concretely because it is not good at what it is supposed to do in todays meta.

As an alternative to making skill 2 have a shorter cast time you could add an attack to the symbol like the hammer has. This way the skill could at least have some damage poential against non ai thingys.

It is not my intention to destroy everything that the mace stands for, but to give it a chance in 2016 that goes beyond pure novelty.

I always liked how it looked and now its already a lot better gameplay wise.

There are still a few things i would like to see.

No more stealth in the main keep. Make it a healing mist or something that gives vigor. Y’know keep some flavour but kinda less ridiculous.

Give cannons room to exist. Basicly Reposition the canons so that the one using them isn’t a lamb ready for slaughter.

Shrink down the whole map. I have no idea if this is even possible but people just don’t like running arround forever which is even worse because of the verticality.

Thx for the feedback, i agree most of the old guardian weapons are clunky and slow by today standards. But for now i would like to focus on the mace like the topic implies.

So my suggestions would be:

Keep the healing the same on the 3rd autoattack chain without any investment, but at least tripple the ammount it heals now at 1500 healing power. Also reduce some aftercast from the first 2 hits.

Change number 2 into a 0,5 s cast time skill

Make the 3rd skill a 1,5 second block for 5 allies within the range that you can cancel with an attack by pressing the skill again.

Sounds good? Too op? Not enough?

So i wanted to try a healing power dragon hunter and its pretty cool so far. Really nice sustain and team support. But the main weapon to use for healing power, the mace just feels like its still stuck in 2012. Everything it does takes forever to cast for how little effect and range it has.

The main attack chain feels like it does nothing for how slow it is and it doesn’t scale well at all with healing power. It says that it has the same attack speed as rev mace for the first 2 attack but it just feels so much slower.

Number 2 feels just horrible. In an age where i can put down my scrapper lighting stun field at 1200 range with less than half the cast time and more damage there is really no reason this melee skill without any single hit damage capabilitys should have over 1 s cast time. Also even with full healing power the regen hardly does anything.

The third skill also feels very weird. Sometimes it triggers the attack on the first block, sometimes it does after the 3rd sometimes even later. The payoff when you dont get hit at all is a super short ammount of protection that doesnt even last as long as its cast time. lol. Also sometimes i just want another attack instead of a block. This should work like revs offhand sword where you can actually choose how long it blocks and when you attack.

Good luck fighting outnumbered fights in your glassy stuff.
How about you go for condi duration in your PvE builds where cleanse isnt a thing and only offensive stats matter. There is constant condi pressure and good confusion duration. Kinda sad that i have to tell you this but the build is not about letting the phatasms get of lots of attacks but to get lots of benefit from your shatter.

I roam wvw with this, and its amazing in both 1v1 and outnumbered.

Yea i also dont run the heal well, but the build just rocks. No matter how big the differences between wvw and pvp, a build that is literaly the top of the whole foodchain and wins every 1v1 will still be good in wvw. I mean you can keep telling yopurself that it doesnt work while i’ll be winning 1v3’s with it.

O right i didnt even consider alacrity and Persistence of Memory, you’d probably be able to pull this quite a bit longer than 17 secs. Just imagine if you were running sigil of ether and mimic as well. Lol this is too high maths for me but i wish someone would really calc the max duration a mesmer can invul.

Also im not really knocking mes for having so much more invul than everyone else. Mesmers have always had strong defense with the power creep i wont even deny that they deserve stronger defense. I think the main problem is how much hp they get back while they do it. Restorative illusions is the main offender imo.

You can say that its not alot but lets look for how long mesmers can acutally facetank.

blured frenzy: 2,5 s invul on 12 s cd
shield 4 : 3 secs block on 24 secs cd
Distortion 3 secs invul
Double distortion with kontinuum split: another 3 secs
tripple distortion with signet of illusion another 3 secs

assuming you start with blured frenzy and use a decent clone rotation, you can ignore attacks thrown at you for 17 seconds. The best thing is only 3 secs are block. the rest is complete invul.

A metric crapton of evades blocks and invul, combined with heal and condi clear on every shatter and an i defender on block or evades.

From what i have undestood about cele you get literaly the highest stat total and thats great if you use all the stats, even moreso in wvw because stats really matter. There is a reason cele amulet isnt in pvp anymore either lmao.

True, you could go higher in condi but when your confusion sticks you melt anything anyway. The added power adds a damage component and pressure to your shatter, not to mention that the sword and shield are power weapons and generally agreed on to be the best mesmer weapon set. Even the scepter has got nice power behind the no. 2 and 3 skill. Not even the healing power stat is wasted on this build.

You basicly have good and consistent power as well as ridiculous condi output with great sustain and survivabilty.

Trust me this build was made for cele, just try it and tell me how it went.
