This would be a counter to the Bolt to the Heart/Executioner/Close to Death/Swift Termination traits which is good.

I think instead of the might, it would be better as a % damage increase though.

So, “You take 20% less damage while under 50% health. You deal 20% more damage while under 50% health.” That would be a pretty good trait then and have decent synergy with the other 50% health triggers.

Or take 20% less damage under 50% health and aoe pulse X seconds of fury every X seconds (keep it low, something like 1-3 seconds every 1-3 seconds). Decent little party buff and good synergy with remorseless.

I like that they are trying to just do some simple/small changes to try and keep WvW somewhat fresh while HoT is being worked on. However, it doesn’t feel like golem rush was very well thought out. On paper it sounded like a lot of fun but in reality its the exact opposite.

I feel your reasoning is flawed, though I understand the basis behind it. You’re taking the current Golem situation is simply multiplying it by 50.

Consider these counterpoints:
1. Golem Rushes are largely successful because they’re SURPRISE attacks. People don’t normally expect Golems, and when Golems do get scouted, they typically get rekt hard and fail to accomplish anything.
Golem week will be a week where expectations change drastically. The meta will quickly shift to account for and handle the Golem hordes.

2. Defenders rarely have Golems. They mostly reply on Cannons, ACs, and disablers.
Golem Rush week will see Golems on BOTH sides, attack AND defense.

Also? Two bonuses for Golem haters:
Golems may be less plentiful in the following WvW weeks, as both the supply and demand may be low from overuse.

Anti-Golem tactics will flourish, and may remain a small part of the meta in the future, after Golem Rush week.

What anti golem tactics? Did you miss the part where golems will cost 0 supply? That means a 5 man group can walk up to a keep door and spike build 5 golems. If you do kill a golem and the driver has golem mastery he will pop out at full health in stealth, throw down another golem and hop in.

You might want to talk to your server’s SE guild, they’re full on exploiting Supercharged golem buffs. In EBG most of their players have that buff on them.

There seems to be multiple different methods of getting this buff, including getting the killing hit on an Omega (really hope that wasn’t intended), whether people are using it on purpose or by accident, you really shouldn’t be pointing fingers at specific guilds. I have seen plenty of JQ and BG players with the buff and it seems pretty scummy to single out one guild and ignore all the other players possibly abusing or accidentally using the buff.

[Solution] ANet should just implement this buff for everyone and give all players 100% more life for the 4 and a half days.

If ANet can’t fix that sucks, but its only another few days.

Yeah, I’ve seen a few players get it accidentally and they don’t even lose it on death. You need to hop maps to get rid of it (or maybe hop in a golem, not sure about that)

The best solution is just end the event early. It’s been a pretty epic fail all around.

It’ll be fixed at the end of the week when the event ends. If you want it fixed sooner you should be asking for them to end this stupid kittening event early

Glad I’m not on most of these other servers.. We still out there defending our stuff and upgrading.. Yes there are not many fights but we still doing what we do everyday and at least trying to have fun. Seeing more people without golems as well. Not saying there are none but its been less. I even got jumped by groups of roamers a few times.

Yea, I actually just came on just do dailies since I wasn’t really feeling it but I was surprised that our garrison had a waypoint. Also, people weren’t always running off to save gold on their golems and weren’t worried about losing them.

I guess I was lucky as well. Although certainly the credit goes to the people trying to play their game in spite of ANet’s best efforts.

I agree that this is an exploit but… Golems are stronger than players (they hit harder and have more health), so what is cheated? 20 people with a buff or 20 golems with the buff? This week is kittened up anyway, so a bit of buff on players or not, there’s not difference: the fun is gone from WvW.

However, this bug can also occur by chance, unlike some servers who deliberately use dezoom and fly hacks.

I prefer to be killed by a guy that has a coded buff bug on himself (that will last for a week and change NOTHING) than groups of people hacking into the game -and there are MANY of them in my match-up- (that have lasted for 3 years and changed many outcomes).

PS: also Rubi retweeted a picture of people using the exploit, if that was that much of a deal… :P

Just logged on to my guilds TS and found it empty… I can’t think of a time when I have ever seen that, especially during a primetime.

At first the stupidity of this event was a mix of frustrating and funny because it showed how out of touch the dev’s are with the WvW community, but not seeing any of my guild on is just depressing.

This has me very worried about what the dinosaur/skyhammer map is going to do to my guild.

Most of us aren’t PPT try hards but we know you have to maintain a certain level to keep from dropping tiers. It’s pretty boring when you completely dominate your opponents.

Yes you get karma during normal wvw but there are a lot more fights to be had and people actually defend and upgrade stuff.. Most refer to karma trains as running around, not defending and just capping stuff over and over again. Karma train is just a term as I have 17+ million karma and really have no need for it..

Sorry to go off topic, but dude. There are ways to turn karma into money, which you should really invest in with all that karma lol.

If you would have watched yesterdays POI, you would have learned that this event was singlehandedly made by Grouch aka Josh Davis, who is normally part of the marketing team.
There were absolutely no “ressources” used that could have gone into WvW, HoT or really any other part of the game.
Golem rush obviously isn’t supposed to be a serious patch for WvW ( duh…), it’s just a fun event – a gift for the players really!

They could have done the same thing by keeping the cripple on auto and giving sword 2 a forward leap on a short cooldown. There are too many situations where the sword auto leaps are detrimental.

OOH Just had an even better idea than removing PvE mobs and objectives.

“Nowhere to Hide”- Players can now kill other players on the PvE maps. You will be assigned a green, red or blue color depending on your server. All points come from player kills.

Since they seem so set on bringing PvE to WvW I think it’s only fair to return the favor.

This may very well be the end for me, until now I was still waiting for a valid reason to pre-purchase HoT and then they implemented this. Now I’m not only weighing why I should buy the expansion but also why I should continue to support a game that I care more about than the Dev’s themselves. They don’t listen, they continually implement moronic unplanned junk into the game, we warn them and against better judgement they don’t heed the warnings from those of us that play daily. How about a special event for PvE called “Wilderness Explorer” where you remove all the mobs and objectives from PvE and let everyone wonder around empty maps.

This way people can explore all the beautiful scenery you all created without any distractions.

Some people might be upset because they log on to play the content and actually fight things, but it will only be for a week so who cares right?

It still locks you into a leaping animation, preventing you from strafing while attacking or instantly dodging.

I can’t say I play it exclusively because I am forced to go out of WvW to sustain my WvW play time. I occasionally go into PvP to farm weapons and armor through the reward tracks.
I’ve also had to go to PvE to hunt down pets I needed on my ranger (since the class mechanic requires you to do a kittening scavenger hunt). I think my ranger is up to about 2% map completion now.

So yeah not WvW exclusive, just 98% WvW and 2% being forced to go out of my preferred game mode in order to stay competitive in said game mode.

If we actually received some real updates to WvW (instead of bullkitten golem karma train week) like reward tracks, armor that could be salvaged, a way to earn ascended gear, etc. I would never leave it.

Bare minimum you need to pause glicko for the week. This isn’t WvW and shouldn’t be counted as such.

Um, i play a lot of wvw, i know i am not a high level, but i only been a few month old, i am up to level 135, and i play wvw at least 2 hrs a day, as I try to play everything. I not doing anything differnt then normal in wvwm, just things are kinda moving a little faster, and I seem to die a lot more, but it a game, it fun, it not, oh no, i am a gamer, i will adept, and when the week up, it will be miss but I’ll contiune to play WVW.

Ummmm no. You can’t stop the golems because if the player piloting them has mastery they just pop out at full health, in stealth and build another golem.
The only way to win is to have more people and more golems.

They took away all strategy from WvW. You can’t defend against larger numbers, there is no point is denying your enemy supply, there is no point in roaming, scouting or upgrading. The only thing left to do is hop in a golem and karma train, which is fine for PvE’ers who love fighting brain dead npc’s but this is terrible for WvW players.

Honestly, I want to see something like this.

Sharpened Edges/Trapper’s Expertise, Spotter, LoYF, Storm Chaser, Poison Master, Natural Stride, Instinctive Reaction, Windborne Notes and Nature’s Vengeance traits from above, Sword/WH on swap with a bar like I attached. Oh, yeah, Celestial Amulet with Krait/Scavenging/Rata Sum/Lyssa Runes… Many would work.

You could trap near, drop your campfire somewhere close, then move off to mid, rupt/bleed/poison/cripple +1 there, buff the team, drop stone spirit somewhere nice for them, move off to far, assist, see the traps went off at near, teleport back and blow them up, etc. I think that would be very meta.

A lot of people have been asking for that since release anyway. There is no good reason rangers shouldn’t have control over their class mechanic.

Imagine if Mesmer shatters only had an f1 button instead of 1-4 and the shatter effect you got was entirely rng. Should Mesmers class mechanic be changed to this so mesmers aren’t too confusing for new players?
