We need a Voice Game System like Tribes: Ascend
Shazbot!
That also would be awesome. But as GW2 uses way more keys than Tribes: Ascend, I don’t know if it would work well. I, for example, have no idea where I would map more 4 keys with easy access in my keyboard control setup.
Hey, I don’t know if this has been sugested before, but I think that it would greatly improve the level of soloqueue or non-voicechat users players in sPvP matches.
Similar to some MOBA games that has this feature, the sugestion is to create alternative pings in the minimap, similar to the default shift+M1 red ping. But with other functions, like “on my way”, “need help” or “be careful/retreat”, for example. It would be good also if when you ping directly in the class icon from another player in the minimap, it would show in the chatbox that the ping performed is directed to that player.
Even with the teamchat, a lot of people don’t use it because they just don’t want the effort or because they are in the middle of a battle. I believe that a system like this wouldn’t be extremely hard to create, but I’m sure that it would improve the quality of most matches by improving the coordination of the teams.
Retal was stronger once. Remember when every WvW group stacked retal before clashes? But even so, some profession/builds still have problems with retaliation. Like engineers using flamethrower or grenades.
As far as I know, every single skill in the game has something like +15% situational increased range, to make up for lag or people getting out of range while you’re casting the skill.
It seems to be more noticeable in the GS #1 because is not a projectile.
You can notice this easily also in WvW. Go to south Hills outer gate, and while in front of the gate, target the right cannon. It will be out of range in the red range indicator. Usually only eles can hit that cannon, because Staff Fire #1 has a small AoE. But try to use the GS #1 and while the animation doesn’t follow, you will hit the cannon.
I guess we can say thanks for this kittening community, for this unreasonable change.
Everything was doing too well to be true.
I find it fascinating how the moment we get any buff, no matter how weak we actually are outside of a constructed non-consequential game format the game doesn’t even know about, everyone explodes in rage.
Geez.
I wish everyone would just get forcibly rerolled to a non-respeccable Rabid-geared Blackwater build Mesmer. For 1 month. Let them see the other side for a bit, they might get an idea of why the spec isn’t overpowered just because it reliably kills them 1-on-1….
My thoughts exactly.
Even mesmer players are afraid of buffs. We got so used to nerfs and bugs that a little light at the end of the tunnel makes everybody panic?
I can’t use any other greatsword that is not the Vision of the Mists with my mesmer. It just fits so well the mesmer aesthetics.
Great videos! Keep them up!
I wish I could play interrupt builds more. Playing in NA servers being outside NA with a huge ping makes interrupt builds not very reliable.
While I’m really happy that after 2 year, finally we are getting the standart enemy models, I just don’t see why it can’t be applied in every gamemode from sPvP. I mean…why? I can’t see any reason for it. People can’t take solo queue or hot join seriously?
I will never take hot join seriously. There is just no reason too. It is not designed to be taken seriously or be competitive. SoloQ on the other hand….
I don’t take it either, but is up to the person to take it seriously or not. I just don’t see why ANet thinks that is a good idea to just not include a feature that will hurt no one in the others game modes. What is the reasoning behind this decision?

Being viable on the periphery doesn’t depend on damage alone. It depends on damage mitigation, which rangers are still going to do more poorly than thieves, mesmers, and d/d eles.
Rangers simply don’t have the same access to stealth, evades, and blinks that the other classes do. And on the periphery, you desperately need all of those, since you can’t rely on your train/backline to save you. Even if you do pack a punch, you’re going to be trained down very quickly. I highly doubt rangers are going to be “mandatory” after the patch.
To those who think rangers are currently viable in GvG’s/there just aren’t good ranger players, you’re very mistaken. Other classes can do what rangers do better — there’s no reason to slot a ranger over something else in the current meta.
Hard to predict where they’ll go with the patch. But unless they get better damage mitigation options, I don’t see rangers becoming a big deal in periphery play in GvG’s.
This gentleman know what he’s talking about. Is not about damage, is about mitigation.
I have no hope at all for the mesmer balance preview. It’s like Anet just doesn’t understand mesmers anymore. I can see them buffing iMage to deal twice the amount of confusion stacks, but it will still be worthless, because iMage can’t hit anyone in movement, even in a straight line and constant speed.
I have to disagree with you, also. No, Mind Stab is not great for boon removal. It’s actually terrible. Huge animation, you need to stand still, small AoE, small damage, and only removes one random boon. High risk, small reward. Besides the MH sword #1, it’s the most unreliable boon strip in the game.
Chaos Armor is a good buff, but a bad skill. Why would anyone bother with it when we can do a combo that will give us chaos armor, spawn a clone, gives us more boons, do more damage and do more conditions?
Weapon skills: 1-5
Movement: WASD
Utilities: Z, X, C
Heal: E
Elite: Q
Dodge: Mouse 3
Weapon swap: ’
Very basic. Everything in reach, just pressing one key, without Shift and such. To me what is really important is the dodge on mouse, so I can dodge in any direction without removing a finger from the movement keys.
I have been playing this game since beta. 90% of it spent in WvW.
I quit after season 2. I tried to come back after this last patch, and I just can’t take it anymore. The state of WvW, the state of my profession (mesmer and its 40+ bugs), the state of the communications between ANet and the community, the state of the game overall. It’s just too much. I’m done.
I guess this image represents most of the players in this game.
Expect tooltip fixes.
Yep, I’m done with this game. Bye.
This has been addressed by a dev. The response was that they are aware of the issue and would like to fix it, but acknowledged that it probably won’t happen for a long time.
A.K.A this will never get fixed. We have more important bugs, like skills that doesn’t work since launch and yet they didn’t fix them.
I’ll just ask for a gem refund for the outfits that I bought, I guess.
Back to the place where you belong, topic.
Would be cool. Also, if they gave better rewards in the Obsidian Sanctum jumping puzzle, people from all servers would be trying to complete it, and we would have lots of fights on it.
More new people playing, more people who need to be placed in the correct place for his level. It takes some time.
Well, they dont do this because if it kept stacking time it would drive people from the game, and everyone knows what MMOs are about…money. Plus I dont believe that something such as Disconnecting from a match should be punishable which the OP somewhat said, because I D/C all the time, not purposely, and I dont think I should be punished for d/cing.
People on your team shouldn’t be punished to play in a 4v5 because you disconnect all the time too. If you can’t trust in your internet connection, go play hotjoins. Your problem doesn’t affects only you, but also the other 9 people in the match, and you need to keep this responsibility in mind before joining the queue.
That being said, two days for a single disconnect that last about a minute is too much. I like the idea of the previous post, but 5 minutes is too much. I’d change for 2:30 mins.

Shatter is a harder spec to play, that’s all. You rely a lot more in your team than some other popular sPvP builds. But believe me, shatter IS the best spec to play as mesmer in sPvP.
Well, I don’t see nowhere as much PU mesmers as I see shatters ingame. A PU will do half of what a shatter can do in a teamfight, and when decapping or dueling, it will be twice the safer but will take twice the time. Enough time for the enemy team work on a rotation and screw you.
You need to keep in mind that shatter is a true glass cannon, unlike glass cannon thieves or glass cannon warriors, for example. You need people ready to peel for you, to cleanse your conditions for you, to buy you time while you set your full shatter combo (full diversion into full mind wrack). So it is a lot harder to play in a solo queue environment, but it is totally worth if you’re in a team queue or just in a voice comms with a partner.
I don’t know how to help you exactly if you don’t show your spec, or any insightful tip if you’re already read Supcutie’s guide. Just keep watching videos and practice,
I really don’t get this poll and those votes. People voting in hambow as the most broken? Hambow is OP but can be easily fixed, is just a matter of numbers. Warrior mechanics are not broken, their numbers are.
The most broken profession in the game is thief. Initiative is HUGE deal, and very, very broken, without a way to fix that isn’t include revamping the system. And thieves are not only broken because the initiative system, but because of their reliance in evades and stealth too. While evade spam was pretty bad before some changes, most thieves builds still needs stealth to burst, heal, clean conditions, move to a defensive position and a lot more. What is terrible for those who plays against thieves but is not good for thieves themselves.
Tonics are not considered armor and still illusions copy the tonics appearance. Outfits weren’t designed to be used in combat but now they are. They revamped the whole system and didn’t bother about this situation.
It’s clearly a bug that has been overseen and needs to be fixed.
I have a suggestion: each time that a BG player gives us a suggestion to change the rules of WvW because of the 2v1, he should give a suggestion too for the situation where the coverage and numbers of a server is unbeatable.
Reward people to refresh siege and it will not be a problem.
It’s a known bug reported since the day the patch hit. Lots of threads were created in this board, in the bug board and ingame. And still we don’t even know if Anet has plans of fixing it.
No deal for mesmer. PU is good for mesmer because it doesn’t rely in AI. And what you’re suggesting is exactly buffing AI, what non-mesmers would hate too.
Rise from your grave!
I think that you don’t know that there’s nothing wrong with it.
Maybe he’s just pretending all his effort. If someday the iMage starts to hit enemies reliably, people will notice that he’s not only the worst phantasm, but one of the worst skills from mesmer and probably one of the worst weapon skills in the game.
Also, superior siege should be disabled outside your third of the map, making it harder to attack and easier to defend.
I kinda like this idea, but I’m afraid that the gameplay would be pretty boring without things flipping as much as it is right now.
Obisidian Sanctum is designed to have PvP on it. Everyone who joins the Obsidian Sanctum knows that it is a PvP area. It’s what makes it different from the other jumping puzzles.
I like dungeon tokens but I don’t like doing dungeons, and I don’t ask to drop dungeon tokens in WvW. If you wanna do the Obsidian Sanctum, you must deal with the PvP.
I’m sorry to tell you OP, but costumes are bugged for mesmers. Our clones doesn’t display them, so anyone can spot the real mesmer wearing the costume between the clones wearing the default gear.
I don’t like that much the idea.
While fighting a team with synergy while you has none is almost impossible to win and pretty frustrating, there’s two factors that make me go against the idea. The first one people already pointed out, we don’t have enough PvP population for it be viable. The queues would be even worse. The second one is that when you reinforce the meta, you make it even more stale. Letting people play how they wan’t is the best method if we wanna see healthy changes in the metagame.
Inb4 working as intended.
Well the swiss tournament is better in the larger leagues. NA Gold has to few servers for the system to work.
Pretty much. Swiss style is not bad for itself, it just doesn’t work how its supposed to when you have few servers and the disparity between them is too big. It may work a bit for some leagues, but definitely not for Gold NA.

So, people should play as you want or as they want?
Guilds don’t sign any contract with the server or with the militia. Anyone is free to do whatever they want. I don’t know from what server you’re from but I bet your server will not miss you, no need to go back to regular WvW. You’re not a proactive person, who tries to improve learning tactics/builds or doing things by yourself, just someone else who follows a tag mindlessly. Servers have plenty of these.
It’s clearly shown that Blackgate can win against either team when they are separated and when they aren’t allied against us. I personally don’t care if we get double-teamed in the off-season, because it doesn’t matter. However, it seems rather unfair to me that Blackgate is getting double-teamed during a tournament, where the score amounts to a reward. It’s pretty much impossible for us to win if it isn’t going to be a fair fight.
Can you define a “fair” fight for me? I’d love to see what BG comes up with within the context of it’s victories.
Just to start, I’m on IoJ server.
I could have sworn I remember reading a post with you saying you were from BG. Let me find it.
Edit: found it.
As for winning coming up. I AM FROM BLACKGATE, I’ve won plenty.

Oh my god, hahahaha.
This thread already had its purpose.
I haven’t tested it yet, but I believe that guesting change the priorities from the megaserver system for you. Instead of prioritizing people from your home server, it will prioritize people from the guested one.
The problem isn’t so much BG getting double teamed, but the reason behind it. There’s not enough motivation from the other two T1 servers to play for first, since it’s actually more beneficial to trade wins.
Blame the system
Doing this 2v1 increases dramatically the chances of both servers getting the first place overall than playing for first in each week. 50% of chance.
If they played for first each week, they would finish in third and fifth. 0% of chance. Both servers are playing for first, but in a way smarter method. And to be honest, both JQ and TC doesn’t care that much about the win for themselves. 2v1ing BG has a bunch of other reasons.
Your first point: exactly. The reward system of this season encourages this.
Your last point: other reasons such as..? If it’s any reason other than to win, it’s a petty one. Claiming BG’s forum warriors ticking them off making us deserve a 2v1 is childish at best, considering JQ and TC’s own posturing on the community run site. Claiming BG has superior coverage is also baseless propaganda (first week of seasons, all 3 had more or less full maps until Tuesday – at least BG lost queues then. Before that, BG hadn’t won a matchup in months, well before season 2 was announced).
Yep. And I personally don’t think that there will ever be a good tournament system. You can’t make a tournament fair or competitive when the entire WvW system isn’t. Tournaments will bring the worst of WvW while WvW still is as it is.
And well, I’ll not type a wall of text about the other reasons. But there’s enough reasons that JQ and TC see each other as opponents, but both see BG as the enemy. And as the other threads showed, people from lower tiers see BG as the big enemy too. It’s something that never happened with another server in the history of NA, even the most dominant ones. Because everybody, including BG, knows why people don’t like them as a WvW server.

Yep, this bug is really frustrating. I wanna wear my outfits in sPvP and WvW.
My vote goes for number 4 “Make this a channeled skill that pulses AOE damage and boon removal while you hold the sword in the ground.”
This would be extremely interesting and give Mesmer some much needed AoE damage in a way that can be used creatively rather than “spam skill & forget”.
This! I think that reworking Mind Stab is a good chance to give mesmers some reliable AoE/zerg fighting love.
Hello! We are still here waiting! Please give us some light at least.
Everyday there’s two or three new threads about the Tier 1 NA matchup. BG still didn’t accept the loss in this season? Dear god. Most of BG are taking this like a man, but some guys will need to seek a psychiatric.
