Sadly noone is fooled by a mesmer clone anyway, which is extremely sad. The reason i rolled mesmer from the start was the idea of being annoying and confusing to the opponent. Alas, mesmer turned out to be, well, not confusing.

Yup it has gotten pretty insane. I have played the game a fair amount (4k ranked arenas on mes) and recently, more than once i have actually just stopped playing in the middle of a match and just watched. Watching Chrono/Rev/Daredevil and some others just looks crazy now- the window to hit them is abysmally low. Now, i am definitely not arguing that daredevil is op (it isn’t), but the design of most of the classes is just weird at the moment. Full zerker duels take as long as cele ele vs shoutbow used to take before patch.

No counter play to Unrelenting assualt? U mean besides dodging blocking etc right? Double dodge basicly mitigates 90% of the dmg.

I think phase traversal is a much bigger issue when used properly. Hell without Phase traversal revs are absurdly easy to kite. And if ppl learn to stop attacking when the rev pops his glint heal the rev dies really fast aswell.

Well dodging isn’t really an option, double dodge this skill and you’re dead unless you are a daredevil. But it has other counterplay options like interrupt, teleport out of range, stealth.

I second this:

“Tenets for a fun/not boring to watch games:
A 1v1 should never last more than 3 minutes
A 1v2 should never last for more than 1 minute
A 1v3 should die as soon as invul/block wear off.
A burst should never kill another class in less than 5s.”

Esp. Long fights. It is extremely unsatisfying to play when people heal up in 3 seconds.

This is something that has been bothering me for a very long time. Namely, damage floaters obscuring animations almost completely.

The first of these pictures below is a necromancer during Chilblains (staff #3) cast.

The second picture shows the exact same situation when chilblains was just completed.

If you wanted to dodge this cast (and many, MANY others) you would need X-Ray vision. In this situation it is literally impossible to see. Same goes for a large amount of other skills, not just necromancer Chilblains. In fact, most things that aren’t melee attacks or projectiles with travel times are guilty of this problem in to some extent.

I support the notion of Guild Wars 2 being played through animations and skillful game-play. A toggle for Damage Floaters would greatly help towards this.

TL;DR (If you didn’t have time to read):
Damage floaters obscuring animations is a huge flaw in this game that could be fixed with a toggle for “Show damage floaters”, just like a toggle for “Simple condition floaters” was added.

Say what you want about DH, it is def one of the lower skillfloor specs in the game at present.

And why is that bad? Easy to play, hard to master I guess is more fitting.
Revenant is much easier to play IMO and I don’t see complains.

In my honest opinion it has some of the lower skillcaps in the game too, but i didn’t say this was bad. There are generally easier classes in pvp games and for good reasons.

Yes yes and yes. So much this. I have said this on forums about 100 times now, WHY is there so much gliding/ camera smoothing in guild wars 2?

The single most revolutionary change you could make to this game is to add a toggle to remove this horrific invention. Right now it just feels like a bad casual console game, extremely unsuited for “fast paced” pvp.

This patch that they did was seriously the best balance patch arenanet has done in so long, why do people complain when they finally react quickly and not too drastically? I feel bad for them considering how they can never make forums content.

That has nothing to do with them removing it now. They simply realized that these runes don’t promote healthy gameplay- and they are right. No point thinking about why they haven’t in the past.

They didn’t remove these because they are strong, or they would remove pack or something. They removed them/changed them because they had either:
1- AI pets
2- Passive strong effect like ice block.

So when are they removing Sigil of Demon Summoning and any pet summon skills/Ranger class.

Pet summons skills and ranger are balanced around the ability to summon or have pets out in the context of the specific class, ogre could be used by anyone. From a balance POV it was clearly problematical and I’m glad its been removed. Given vampire runes they probably should rework it without the summons.

Sigil of Demon Summoning can be used by anyone. You still don’t even seem to understand how useless the pets even were, especially with the power creep.

Go ahead, plead to them to remove Demon summoning sigil then.

This thread makes no sense, it doesn’t matter what reason they had to remove it, why would you want to play with an AI anyway? Why? I don’t understand why everyone needs to argue about this so kitten much when there are so many other things to complain about.

I dont disagree with removing celestial i want that amulet gone from the game just nerf thief first… im completely fine playing marauder till i meet good thief.
How do you survive on marauder? You kite, manage cooldowns, counterpressure, position and be aware of enemies, none of this works against thief.

I like how thiefs are now pretending to be the hurt ones, maybe if your whiny community wouldnt cry so much every time someone said something about how thief kittens on every other zerker then we wouldnt be stuck in this bunker meta.

You are correct. Not sure how you could go about doing anything about it.

With the current power creep, only the new amulett could make it somewhat good. Before the patch we only saw cele running around and we will go back to this again. Its seems like cele is the healthy gameplay anet is looking for.

It needs cooldown 3->5s and it is fine imo. Also I liked when it added the astral wisp to allies/self but the astral wisp on staff needs some added functionality. The autoattack already does the same exact thing.

Actually it needs to be removed. There’s starting to be too much blind spam in this game.

The amount of blind a Mesmer can put out is insane, especially as chrono. I can blind on command, rapid fire blind on command if need be on my Mesmer to a group of people.
At least the druid blind is random chance and isn’t on command.

That last sentence got me good, thanks for the laugh.

Just compare it to other classes elite GM traits like Chronophantasma or Adaptive Armour and and then tell me LL is OP. 3 sec cd blind in the heaviest AoE meta ever.

Compared to Chronophantasma and Adaptive Armour 1 blind per ally per 3 seconds is OP. But so is Tempest Shocking Aura spam and both need a nerf.

This. Please people stop defending a defensive trait which requires 0 skill, 0 thought, 0 anything. This trait is just plain cancerous, and there are many many ways to make it more fun to play and more fun to play against.

The above post’s mark suggestion would maybe work, but then people could stow cast them to bait infinite dodges, not sure if that’s good or bad. necro marks could get a slightly shorter cast time, and when you have used them, a marker indicates where it will be cast for about 1/2 sec perhaps.

Anyway, that is offtopic.

The main thing i would like to see changed is to give “Test of faith” a 1/2 second cast time. It should do good damage, but right now it just doesn’t have enough counter play to it.

Mesmer is already kittened. When vanilla is better than chrono you know something is wrong.

mesmers still need a damage nerf. still seeing mesmers fully capable of 100-0ing people with 17.2k HP instantly essentially.

other than over-the-top damage, mesmer is completely fine. chronomancer also has the damage issue too but it’s main issue is having a bit too much CC, albeit at the cost of survivability from other traitlines so it’s less of an issue than core mesmer imo.

Mesmer DOES NOT need damage nerf If anything at all, a burst nerf. Mesmer does some of the lowest damage in the game right now. The autos are some of the weakest and a mesmer might get 250-350k in a game at a stretch whilst many other (especially elite specs) classes can achive 600-700k+ in a game. This isn’t obviously conclusive proof but i feel like some numbers are still important.

kittening christ, its a fix to the problem that you sometimes got instant 3 ticks of the damage when you crossed the line once. BAM 14k damage. Same problem that ring of fire has.

Day 1 Dragonhunter pvp match!

Anyone taken full traps, + rune of the trapper for a spin yet? I played a handful of matches with this build yesterday, it’s pretty kitten dope. You can charge into the middle of a large brawl, lay down your traps, and peel off in stealth/super speed. If no one decides to pressure you, then they can have fun eating 5-7k trueshot crits.

For soloQ I had absolutely amazing results with this. It takes a coordinated or fortuitous burst down by the opposing team to take you out. I found I could hold my own against decent chronomancers, classic PU mes, thieves, rangers, and classic med guards in 1v1s, and it took two gank to be able to take me out using this build! Probably won’t see any play in top tier ranked, but it’s fun as hell in unranked/soloQ!

Phantaram just gave you a guarantee that you will see this in top tier play?

There is a reason that eles, mesmers and thieves are the classes with ground target blinks. They are the ones that it thematically fits on and the ones that are the squishiest by design. The only problem arises when you realize that eles have excellent sustain because of boons and healing.

I used the Snap to Target function for a while but in the end didn’t like it because it was making it harder to hit moving enemies at range. Any chance aiming straight down could just be added without having to snap to target? ;/

As far as i know there is a key bind for snap ground target. Hold down the keybind, look at your feet, spam use vault, there you go.

Rev IS arguably stronger than mesmer. Their burst isn’t that threatening anymore now that people can tank/dodge most of their stuff. I’d even hazard a guess and say they’re back to their pre 6/23 state.

I don’t even have a mesmer on my account :P. Just speaking from my experiences on DD and DH vs them.

Maybe back to pre 6/23, but back then mesmer had lots of damage and low survivability. Now mesmer does very little damage (Aside from gravity well) and has insane block/invuln uptime instead!

I’m not sure bro but i just fought a mesmer earlier and my rev is marauder trinket and my Armor is 2.4k and HP is 21k but the mesmer bursted my HP from 21k to 8k. If i’m not using Herald legend i’m probably dead and i was a bit in good rotation so i manage to stay alive but still mesmer manage to kill me.

Could you pinpoint what he did to you? Weapons, skills, what did you get hit by? Was it from stealth? Thnx

Well, it hasn’t become less relevant since hambow days, quite recently shoutbow was arguably the strongest build in the game and was stacked in tourneys. That being said, warrior is underperforming currently. Or rather, some (most) of the others are overperforming.

So far, i personally believe its more that you basically can’t stay outside the point and help nearly as well when there are dragonhunters with range pressure, daredevils, revenant with shiro. You get chased down or just die from pressure. This is the reason i believe mesmers will switch back to stealth fairly soon- you need it to get away, since most classes are faster than you. (Reaper is one exception).

Agreed, although I also feel this serves as the balancing point of Chronomancers. With that being said, nothing stops us from essentially using only the traitline and the F5 as a “superior” condi shatter setup or something similar.

Yeah i’m definitely not saying it is weak, i actually think it’s too strong. But so are the other elite specializations.

It seems like Revenant was crafted with many of the ideas which would have otherwise made warrior, thief, and mesmer elites more desirable. Instead these classes received lines which are primarily redundant (berserker), gimmicky (daredevil), and lack the disengage and sustain to escape coordinated pressure (chronomancer). It would seem that they had plenty of cool ideas but not enough for every class.

I cannot speak for the other 2 that I barely play. But for chronomancer, it feels like the elite spec was designed for team fights. The wells offer good area denial, good support. Also chrono has higher pressure-sustain with the shield blocks (which are quite insane if you think about it) and the 3s blur from the well. From my experience, and somewhat confirmed by the Go4, the problem is CC. There is no built-in stability for the chronomancer, and the stability of core mesmer is quite bad (1 stack for a GM in chaos, 2s stab with a worthless mantra).

Because mesmer has good stunbreaks (decoy/blink) that was not a problem for the “roaming role” which could just disengage. But for a team fighter, that just won’t do, and it seems the focus of fights moved even more towards team fights.

Have a look at the Go4 of sunday, and count the number of mesmers as well as the amount of time they spend at respawn.

Then reconsider who needs nerf.

GS 1 is one of the best ranged attacks. cant be reflected, pierces.. almost too good

This was a general opinion a while back, but there is no realistic way to say that anymore. Almost all range weapons attack trade with mesmer gs. Exceptions are necro staff and warrior longbow.

If you guys would actully watch 5v5 tournaments (the game is balanced around 5v5) you would see how well chronomancer has been doing.

-Helseth has not died as much in an esl as he did on chrono in a looong time. Frostball died more than usual too.
-In NA, there wasn’t a single chronomancer in the whole ESL iirc. (Certainly not in the finals, where we saw things like tempest, reaper, rev, scrapper, dragonhunter)
-Afterwards, Helseth even went so far as to say that its impossible to play mesmer vs teams without stealth- he might even be going back to torch over shield.
-Additionally, the chronomancers that did play, didn’t even use gravity well, they used moa for the most part.

Let’s wait a bit longer, shall we?

I think some people missed your sarcasm there, Jim. That said, only time I’ve seen a faster ranger ‘update’ is when they fixed the longbow giving buffs. And that took a week or two.

Honestly, I think this was the fastest nerf I’ve ever seen in any game to a class.

Mesmer was nerfed moments before the specialization patch and subsequently in the hours after, too.

Use it to interrupt blocks like the revs block with the passive knock back since its unblockable.

^This. Pretty brilliant actually. The only problem is that the projectile itself is fairly unreliable once your target is further than 600 unit range from you.

And this is exactly why I would like Heavy Light tied to Deflecting Shot. They have the same CD so there’s no issue there. Players would get control over the knockback making this type of gameplay more reliable without wasting the knockback on a wongly timed LB arrow.

Great idea, it would also allow more counterplay in that people could dodge it.

I really adore it – its saved my life so many times already. The issue with it, is that it takes skill to use properly.
