I don’t get it. Why are you showing off how much dough you blew on gems? I thought this was about twilight and its aura.
-BnooMaGoo.5690
I say this to everyone at least once:
This is an MMO.
You are not a special snowflake.
You will never be a special snowflake.
Nothing you own will ever be truly rare or unique.
Get things because you like them, not because you think they’ll be rare or make you stand out. They won’t.
-BnooMaGoo.5690
Anet is nerfing healing signet because it’s out of line with the warriors’ other healing skills. After the nerf, it will grant roughly the same HP/sec as casting healing surge on cooldown with full adrenaline.
So don’t feel too bad. Warriors still have the best passive healing in the game. Despite the fact that healing over time is supposed to be the guardian/ele thing.
-BnooMaGoo.5690
Three words: Point. Blank. Shot.
I should also mention I’m primarily a PvE player and play a lot of fractals and dungeons, where stacking both the party and the mobs is standard. I see far too many bearbow rangers that love to just hit all their skills regardless of what’s going on, and PBS just loves to knock enemies out of all of the carefully stacked AoE, or out of range of the melee classes, etc.
It’s supremely frustrating, but it’s more to do with PvE content not challenging the average Ranger to become a better player before this point in the game.
This. 1000X this. Even if rangers get everything else fixed and improved, I will still not want rangers in my groups if Point Blank Shot doesn’t get fixed.
If by “fixed” you mean: “point blank shot is no longer a knockback,” I disagree. Point blank shot is fine.
It’s funny how much everyone hates on point blank shot, but completely ignore skills like:
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Knockback
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/LaunchAll of the skills listed in those categories are equally irritating when used improperly. (For the record, I have never once seen a mesmer use Illusionary wave properly)
Illusionary wave needs a much closer range, has a twice as long cooldown, and doesn’t knock the opponent as far as point blank shot. There is no equivalent to point blank shot in range, cooldown, and distance. It is a ridiculous skill that does not contribute to group play at all. The skill needs to be fixed.
Iwave has the same range as the original point blank shot. It also knocks back 5 targets instead of one. Gust knocks an enemy back 400 units (the same distance as a max range point blank shot), and has a range of 1200 (the same as point blank shot traited with eagle eye.)
None of them are as spammable as point blank shot, but the AoE knockbacks like Iwave and shield of absorption are far more irritating when used incorrectly. Point blank shot is a perfectly fine skill. Nerfing either the knockback or the cooldown will make the already undesirable longbow even less desirable.

Deleting both traits and replacing them with something actually useful would be the better solution.
If you’re going to criticize, at least make it constructive. What might this “something useful” be?
-BnooMaGoo.5690
- Step one: Run all 3 paths of AC
- Step two: Salvage everything not exotic
- Step three: List everything of moderate or higher value on the TP -if it’s worth more than 10 copper above vendor prices, list it.
- Step four: Collect your profits
Congratulations, you just made 10-15g in under an hour. now, you can suppliment this with other simple dungeon runs, like CoF and CoE, or you can hop the champ train and ride it all the way to moneyville.
When I made the last push to get my legendary, I was raking in 30-40g a day -playing no more than 4 hours a day. Making gold isn’t all that difficult to do in GW2, you just have to want it badly enough.
-BnooMaGoo.5690
Whilst there is one profession which deals more damage with one solid build than any other in the game, all other professions will be deemed of lesser value.
GW has always been and probably will always be like that. Warriors only tolerate having one Guardian in the group sometimes as a safety net, let’s face it… I also can’t believe for a second that Ferocity will change this other than slowing down speedruns slightly.
Are you implying that warriors deal more damage than every other profession? I hate to break it to you, but a full zerker guardian deals more damage than a full zerker warrior when all buffs are equal. (And if your group has a warrior in it, they should be)

Simple solution: Move Kindled Zeal to master tier.
Now you can have both.
-BnooMaGoo.5690
Thiefs dont cleave. I think the ranger GS doesn’t cleave also. Cleave is a melee attack that can hit 3 targets. Not all professions and weapons cleave. Long bows don’t cleave so maybe thats your problem?
Thieves can cleave with Sword, and Ranger GS also cleaves. You may be thinking of Ranger sword, where only the 2nd hit in the auto attack chain does not cleave.
Daggers do not cleave.
-BnooMaGoo.5690
These are all grandmaster traits you realize that right?
Ours seem so lack luster compared to some of the OP traits other classes just got
thieves just got 50% reduced damage in stealth….
eles got perma blindness and immune to critical hits in earth lolI don’t see anything that WOWs me as a ranger… this is pathethic. I expected major buffs…
we got some versatile utility and condi cleansing (which guardians are WAAY better at so I could just play guard if i wanted to do these things) but still, no buff to damage at all.
Looks like anet wants to stick this class to a pure support/condi ,no other true build diversity here, re-roll time
Pretty much everyone got mostly utility and support / defense. They said at the start of the segment that these grandmaster traits were mostly going to focus on utility and survival.
True but you really can’t even begin to compare things like “immunity to crit damage whiel attuned to earth” or “-50% damage while in stealth” to “15% chance to block
rangedattacks while in melee.”That skirmishing one is almost worse than the marksmanship trait and I didn’t even think that was possible.
Funny how you can make the ranger’s new trait so much better by removing one word.

Good info for those not familiar with Healing Spring’s potential. Thanks
Greatsword:
- While it may not appear the best for comboing into fields with, the greatsword is my all-time favorite weapon for use with Healing Spring. An anomaly with Swoop makes it act as two leap finishers rather than one, and standing outside of the field, or at the edge – even without a target – will allow dual leap finishers in your water field. This will heal you for 2640 without healing power on a single attack.
For Greatswords Leap Finisher, you get two combo finishers out of Swoop?
Correct. This is why I started with it. The “run” and “leap” portions are actually two separate leap finishers. Several ranger mains I’ve known since launch didn’t even know this, so I felt it was important to point out.
Can you confirm that you receive double the benefit? It could be a simple animation bug. I’ve noticed the double splash, but never such a large heal.
-BnooMaGoo.5690
I honestly don’t know how DirectSong has managed to stay in business this long. It has been a terrible company from day one.
For the record, I still have my GW1 bonus music keys from my factions and NF collectors’ editions -which I was never able to redeem.
-BnooMaGoo.5690
A big fat goose egg.
After nearly 600 fractals and not a single weapon drop, I’ve retired from fractals indefinitely.

Get in line, Mesmers need it way more than Guardians.
What the hell do you mean “get in line” Lol, Mesmer and Guardian and both equally slow outside of combat but, Mesmer is way faster than Guardian in combat.
Also I wouldn’t want a Speed Signet I would want a trait like Warrior Sprint or Power Shoes, Hell it doesn’t even need to be 25% If I can get 15% Increase Movement speed I would be so happy. Then I won’t have to use Travy Runes
Have you played a mesmer?
Mesmers have 12 seconds of swiftness on a 25 second cooldown. For movement abilities, they can blink 900 yards every 30 seconds and if you get really fancy, you can do a quick 180 and use Phase Retreat on the staff then do another fast 180 for a teleport that’s a bit faster than running.
Guardians get 100% swiftness by using 2 shouts and a staff. If you have staff/GS, then you can use Leap of Faith every 15 seconds on top of that.
Most Guardians that run shouts don’t even use “Retreat” which is the shout that gives the most swiftness, Also I don’t notice many Staff Gaurdians unless they’re in a zerg and if you’re a zergling then you should get 100% Swiftness anyways. My leap is a little nice though I can agree there.
I run retreat for the aegis. True story.

I bought GW2 on release, grinded to 80, and tried out the endgame. And while the levelling was fun, the game featured no endgame PvE, exotic gear that you have to grind for hours for tiny stat boosts, and a completely broken dungeon system. The PvP itself was so unbalanced as to not be any fun, along with no gear to be earned in structured PvP whatsoever. Have they added ANYTHING worth hitting level 80 in the year and a half?
+ “grinded to 80” …with this comment someone must think he’s still playing WoW.
+"game featured no endgame" … Well lets see, there is ascended gear to work on which is difficult, legendary weapons which are extrememly tough, and of course personal achievements to work on are some.
We definitely don’t need to add any WoW degenerates so don’t let the door hit you on the way out. Enjoy your second job that you pay monthly to log into.
I haven’t played WoW since BC, and if you think this game is hard I feel bad for you. And the thing with WoW, is that they REWARD you for playing the endgame. This game gives you little to nothing but horrible gameplay.
I’ve never played WoW, but I’ve played games like it. Rolling for loot at the end of a 3 hour raid and getting the item you want after 12 raids isn’t even the slightest bit rewarding. Especially when you can only attempt that particular raid once a week.
-BnooMaGoo.5690
I didn’t know the “gift of blades” was the actual back piece. I thought it was just a component, I could be mistaken
It is just a component. You need it to make the Tempered Spinal Blades.

-BnooMaGoo.5690
Artificers make weapons of the magical variety. Back pieces are not weapons. Linking them to armor crafting professions makes more sense.
If you want the ascended version badly enough, suck it up and level one of the armor crafting professions. Buy your gift of blades recipe now and take your time with it.

I play a game on my computer, having to open a spreadsheet and keep track of which toon has what crafting at 500, what dungeon path is finished, and what freaking mini event i have or haven’t done is really annoying. Pen and paper … are you kidding me?
You could try….remembering things. It has worked wonders for me.

Is it still inappropriate if Anet uses it for a character name in one of their games?

Stacking makes certain bosses easier.
Stacking on the spider queen prevents her from spitting poison all over the room (her most deadly attack by far). As soon as one person moves out of melee range, she immediately covers the room with an unblockable poison AoE.
Stacking on Subject Alpha in paths 1 and 2 of CoE prevents anyone from getting hit with a dragon’s tooth, as they don’t appear in melee range. It also makes breaking other players out of crystals that much more expedient.
-BnooMaGoo.5690
We found all the Champs were also too hard to solo or do with below 5 people. This made the train hard to interrupt.
I don’t know about you, but I can solo at least 6 of the champions on that route, and used to do so on a fairly regular basis. I could probably solo the champion giant too if I had enough AoE to consistently kill the grubs.
-BnooMaGoo.5690
Are you joining groups that say no ranger in them? If so that might be your problem. I generally ask for no ranger as the average pug ranger uses longbow, has bear pet, no spotter or frost spirit, and uses sig of the hunt.
Sadly those types of rangers ruined it for all in dungeons. If you really want to avoid being kicked you should make your own party on the LFG tool. It will fill with people and you will have fun.
I use a longbow, but I also bring frost spirit and spotter, and don’t use bears unless the situation calls for them (ie. Mai Trin). I’m up into the 40s in fractal difficulty now, and no one has complained so far.
-BnooMaGoo.5690
Well apparently Fear is a condition too, despite losing control of your character.
The difference between fear and immobilize is: Fear can be broken by a stun breaker. Immobilize cannot be broken by a stun breaker. I think that’s where the issue is.

I love how the forums blew up so quickly over this, without anyone actually testing the pick to see what it really does.
I’ve been using the pick for the better part of a day, just running around mining nodes in Orr and Sparkfly Fen. I’ve noticed that I never seem to get multiple ore chunks from a single swing with this pick. Rather, I get one ore chunk and a sprocket. So my running theory is, the pick replaces the bonus ore chunks you would normally get from nodes with watchwork sprockets. If this is true, the pick is far less “pay2win” than it appears.
12 strikes off of the rich copper vein in the Shamans’ Rookery JP. Sprockets and gems came with it, as usual.
How many of those 12 strikes gave you double ore? How much ore did you end up with after those 12 strikes?
-BnooMaGoo.5690
While I don’t buy the entire Pay-to-Win argument (it’s a buzzword to stir up dander more than actually being applicable)…
I am NOT in support of extra little features being added onto items to entice people to buy them. Let’s be blunt; this item isn’t made for people who don’t have an infinite pick. It’s for the people who DO have one to entice them to buy ANOTHER.
I’m not okay with that. That’s a pure money-grabbing attempt more than something to improve a players Quality of Life in game.
I’ve purchased every unlimited gathering tool to date, because I like the unique skins and animations. If Anet keeps making gathering tools who’s skins/animations appeal to me, I might continue to purchase them.

The fact that most of these items ever existed is just blatantly a bug. The decision to throw cooldowns on them were for server performance/stability as the patch notes said, not for balance. Period. This was something that was long overdue.
Think of it this way: Between the embers and whistle, those items were effectively doubling/tripling the amount of players active in a map.
As for the Charrzooka, I’m not sure what the reasoning behind that change was. That wasn’t part of the change to summons, or at least that I’m aware of.
The bringer of bad news,
-BillThis is one of the most inappropriate, accusatory, and unfortunate posts I have ever read from an ArenaNet employee, and I hope dearly that you get actioned for daring to post that to your customers. We are not the problem here, communication like this is.
Please enlighten to me how he offended you. I obviously don’t have the apathy or capability to understand where all this outrage is coming from.
The first line of your post is where you set the tone for the reader. The first line of Bill’s post was extremely condescending and unprofessional, making the rest of his post seem condescending and unprofessional.
Well let’s read over the semantics here.
“The fact that most of these items ever existed is just blatantly a bug”
While I personally believe he mispoke and said something different than what he was trying to come across, let us assume for our sake that he did believe that Fire Elementals were not an item that were supposed to be in the game, but a bug (seriously, read over that, it’s absurd and clear that he mispoke)
Can you please expand on what exactly is condescending? Is he insulting your intelligence? Is he ignoring your existence or concerns?
As far as I can see, he is laying the groundwork for why this change happened. That’s a neutral response. The only reason why you and many others are taking it as an offense is because you disagree with the change and reading his response with anger due to this change.
And so you end up reading his remark in a biased mindsight
Using words such as blatantly or period to emphasize your point makes you sound condescending. Perhaps he wasn’t trying to sound condescending, but that’s the feeling I got when I read his post.
I don’t get the association of ‘blatantly’ with anything negative. ‘Period’ I already discussed above – it’s meant to explain that this change was from and only from the performance perspective – nothing else.
Telling someone that something is blatant or obvious tends to offend the person if they don’t see it the same way. You might not have been offended by what Bill wrote in his post, but that doesn’t make it any less unprofessional.

And those same fire elementals will die in seconds and will no longer be in use for 30 minutes. It’s way better than having people spam the fire ele as soon as it dies.
I like this change, I just wish it were on a 5 minute timer.
Embers and ogre pets were always supposed to have a 5 minute cooldown. Embers didn’t seem to have a cooldown, but ogre pets did. And it was 5 minutes.

I’m going to try to keep this as civil as possible. Prefacing your post with: “The fact that most of these items ever existed is just blatantly a bug” was extremely rude, and makes your entire post come off as condescending. I’m going to assume it was either simply a poor choice of words or a failed attempt at sarcasm.
Ignoring that, If the penultimate goal was to reduce server strain, would it not be more effective to impose a limit on how many embers could exist simultaneously in a given map? Slapping a 30 minute cooldown on all items which summon a creature/turret isn’t going to prevent multiple people from summoning their embers/ogre pets/mortars all at once (eg. during a fight with tequatl).

I bought a top hat for my asura, because top hats are awesome, and so are asura. Now, I understand why hats remove hair, that’s not what this is about.
It’s about the shiny bald spot not matching the rest of my character’s head. For some reason, the spot -where my character’s hair used to be- reflects light differently than the rest of his head. It creates an unsightly line which happens to be extremely noticeable and quite bothersome. Are there any plans to fix this?
