Energy gain on auto, thats a really nice idea, only thing is Shiro’s Phase traversal will remain at 35 energy which is not acceptable. It would also give Anet a reason to implement highly unreasonable energy costs for future additions to the class.

If they knew how to balance then this would have easily become the single greatest suggestion on the rev forums.

This is what you are saying. How do you think people would react if legendary weapons were so easy to get you dont need to play PvE all that much or all that well to get one.

Legendarys can be had in seconds for gold or gems, bought or farmed.

[/quote]

The legendary i’m after is Astralaria. Also, they’ve stopped that system of buying legendaries. They only allowed the first gen to remain tradeable because they dont want to mess up the economy and upset people not because is should be easy to get one.

I also want the upcoming legendary armour which ofcourse isnt going to be tradeable and Ad infinitum which isnt tradeable because the “its just a game” so therefore should be handed out to everyone doesnt cut it. Either way, bringing up first gens because they happen to remain tradeable doesnt make a difference.

So you are saying people should get a legendary backpiece just for showing up to PvP and doing well at PvP shouldnt matter. That type of thinking is just sad.

Thats like saying you should get a raise at work just for showing up even though you are doing a bad job.

If you compare work and a game you don’t expect to be taken serious in this discussion, do you?
Most of the players will get the legendary backpiece. That’s the key of those achievements. They were introduced to get more people into pvp not to reward a minority of players.
They introduced reward tracks for the same reason. They want people to play that part not for some “elitist thinking contest reward”.

To get back to your comparison. If you work, you get paid for showing up, not for the quality of your work. Your employer expects you to be at work in time and do the work you have to. You won’t get paid better because you finished one hour early.

also you get paid for doing your job and not being blame that your coworker went afk or do his job miserably unlss you are his boss so you should fired him … but in this game i cant fire afk or bad rotation player

Lmao why do i keep doing this to myself.

“Its just a game” and “its just for fun” so the two dont compare are pretty much the responses im getting. Ok ill put it in a way you will understand.

I want a legendary weapon but to get one is such a pain for me because it requires so much time, collecting, killing special stuff, doing events, money and completing maps . I dont want to do all these, the game is just for fun so i should just get it for killing a few trash mobs.

This is what you are saying. How do you think people would react if legendary weapons were so easy to get you dont need to play PvE all that much or all that well to get one.

The issue is that the shiny ( the backpack ) requires advancing through divisions. That reward was intended to attract players to PvP.

Because ANET has made it difficult or impossible to advance, the reward is denied to the very players it was intended to attract. It will alienate them instead.

I would probably hold off on creating either of them. The studio loves to nerf revenant without making much needed improvements in return. DH sustain is pretty bad and is ripe for game breaking buffs, which (knowing Anet) is probably going to happen.

Because of this I might have suggested DH but it is best to wait for what manner of craziness they feed us this time . They like to force people to play through their ridiculous changes for 3 months before they realize something is wrong so if you choose DH or rev now, you will have to live with it for at least 6 months. It takes at least 2 cycles before they correct their mistake since they use the first one to make things worse.

Ele is probably going to get nerfed, DH is going to get broken, Rev, only Lyssa knows, with the amount of work the class needs, they are sure to f%$k up. Conditions are supposed to get nerfed across the board which is obvious but obvious changes isnt their strong suit. I honestly cannot wait.

As someone who just traited into a condi build, can I maybe get a source for the condition nerf?

No mate, i didnt say condis are definitely getting nerfed but they are supposed to and because they are supposed to, they will it is just a matter of when. When certain builds or classes start dominating PvP unfairly that is what happens.

This is why investing in meta is so bad. At the same not investing in it causes problems which is why Anet needs to stop making BS changes and think more.

Lol I approve of this outrage. If this doesnt change next season, i think ill just avoid pvp all together perhaps the game as a whole since im exaughsted from the lack of thought that goes into skill balancing. I have no interest in jumping classes to fit into the meta

Doesn’t mean condis have to be useless either, at least just put some intelligence into the design. raising the cap, making condis easier to stack and increasing the damage of all of them all at the same time was not intelligent.

Also confuses me (as a rev) that they would nerf shiro saying “it was too evasive” so i guess scrapper is not too tanky, and thief not too bursty and the sea of clones from condi mesmers is not too much but evades which is the only way to avoid taking too many conditions especially from unblockable marks when there is next to no cleanse in the first place is too much. As funny as D/D condi is they should probably leave thieves alone before they break something again. D/D condi doesnt seem to be the go to build for a lot of thieves, maybe because they only need the ‘3’ and ‘v’ to play it.

Its not a good thing to leave hanging around but its better than having the entire class destroyed again to make thieves pay for a fix through an xpac again

You might think you are an OK player now, at least good enough to climb until you try this. I may be wrong and it does nothing for you but i think it might be worth trying.

Don’t expect to hit them whenever you want. Hit them (preferably with a cc) during the evade gaps during skills (if you time a skill right at the end of dodge, or during a vuln period in an evade skill, it will hit). All in all, don’t be stupid.

It’s funny to watch them flop around like fish on dry land when you just let them waste evades.

D/D condi is even funnier to watch.

depends on the class, if you are a DH, warrior, ele or mesmer with high damage atacks that are very fast then you shouldnt have a problem, but with power necro, or revenant with high damage attacks that take a longer time to reach the target or hit max damage then taking damage while having your damage negated at the same time can be annoying.

Also you can’t really waste something that is permanent. You have to really try to run out of evades when using D/D, acro, signet of agility and channeled vigor

Am i the only one that finds this incredibly hilarious. Grouch AKA Josh Davis at around this time last year said that thieves mindlessly dodge and announced that the studio will be killing evades. This made thief utterly useless till HoT release.

Just before HoT droppped Karl Mclain with such pride announced the daredevil spec which has even more evades thn what they destroyed thief for. The punchline is during a demo of the spec The Great Mclain literally used only one skill (death blossom) with lotus training to kill the chieftain.

So Anet complains about evades then destroys thieves. They then make evades permanent and make it extremely easy to apply pressure while evading.

Being able to pressure while evading is something that has always been limited, either you couldnt move while doing it or the attack damage was small, now we have cancerous d/d and staff thieves who just press one button to do amazing damage while permanently avoiding it

Lmao i tip my hat to these guys, great artists they have, but f#@kin confused class designers.

yes because wvw zerging and random sapphire league climb is the bastion of skill by which the game should be balanced around…

if you think tempest aura spamming or revenant burst has less of an impact on the meta than DH traps then I don’t know what to tell you, you and I obviously have a vast different understanding of how pvp works.

random sapphire league? i know this is a shock but the majority of players are in league not the esl and there are quite a few dragon hunters past sapphire. There may not be as many compared to mesmers, scrappers, eles, warriors or necros but that is largely because of conditions.

Right now, there are just as many DH in the higher divisions as there are revenants, i know because i play rev and ive been watching the compositions this season so does it mean revenants are bad? or that condition builds are pushing out some classes

Traps do affect the outcome of a fight, people often say if you are up against 2 DHs then you are likely going to lose. I might say, i can handle a match against 2 DH, you might say it but from what ive seen, there is some truth to it.

Also, DH traps? Really?

DH traps are bad for pvp in ts current state simply because it takes absolutely no skill to use. With something like that how long do you think it will take before future updates start making it look overtuned.

does magnetic aura take any skill to use? or equilibrium procs? how about skull grinder?

Huh? magnetic aura doesnt daze, do over 4k damage, holds in place, slow or knock down anyone who touches it. Neither does it do over 4k damage to anyone that crosses it.

I dont know why you are comparing an aura to CC damaging traps.

Nothing im saying should be that strange, guard didnt make esl because traps were bad, if that were the case, dragon hunters wouldnt be using traps in league or WvW.

The power creep was necessary, assuming you understood my explanation, then it should be obvious. Only people who played the old PvP will understand.

Ele managed to survive it because of how good its group support is and already people are complaining. Season 1 bunker chrono controlled matches and had to be nerfed. The old bunker turret engi also had that effect and then turrets had to be nerfed. Do you not see a pattern?

I think that ANET is moving in the right direction by adding sustain and lengthening fights. Now you need strategy and cool down management. I remember when the main strategy was: “sneak up on somebody and burst them as fast as possible.”

ANet is moving in the wrong direction. This is power creep. If damage was too high before, the correct move would to be reign it in – not start an arms race.

The problem with HoT specs is that they have so much sustain, they can screw up multiple times by using it poorly, but still survive. When mistakes and poor decisions don’t matter, PvP loses almost all its appeal.

For a healthy PvP experience, there always needs to be the question of “Do I use it now or save it?” With HoT specs, the answer is to spam it because it’ll be back soon enough and you can spam other stuff in the meantime.

It wasnt that damage was too high, it was face tanking. An all bunker team pretty much beat everything and would hold a point for days on end. I can see why they did what they did, rendering toughness useless on its own and making players take damage mitigation from traits. The problem is classes like thief can die too easily in a team fight.

If you think about it, the power creep is a step in the right direction. The main problems are DH traps, condis and thieves.

The way the traps are designed, buffing guardian directly will make them look broken, mostly because they take no skill to use, almost no cast time, daze you and almost all of them do alot of damage. The thing with traps going on cooldown on use instead of when triggered is a mystery to me.

Condis are out of control, they were buffed because power out classed it, then they increased both stacking ability AND damage?

Honestly, i’m not entirely sure about thief, i’m not a fan of creating a class that is restricted to stealth spamming just to survive or even worse spamming one button on a condi build.

If they do something about these three things, things should work itself out.

Please rework Jalis this coming Balance Patch

in Revenant

Posted by: Ragion.2831

Ragion.2831

My only issue with Jallis is the Elite Skill. I believe that by default it should provide both direct and condition damage by 50% and that Versed in Stone should make the elite grant Stab and Retaliation instead of breaking stuns.

That’s some hard nerf to all non-invocation herald builds sustain…

My bad…I forgot that versed in stone has a 50% chance to make the elite of Jallis trigger…yeah that can stay in that talent (even though I don’t use it).

Also, you realize that with the way Jalis is, Shro/Glint builds out classes any Jalis related builds easily. Shiro has its mobility (at least some) Glint has its boons and heal. What does Jalis have? an elite that costs 50 energy and lasts for just 5 seconds. Stab you can get elsewhere cheap, swiftness you can get elsewhere and the condi removal isnt even worth it with the weaknesses it has.

People have tried Jalis builds and realized how bad it is so you should have a lot more problems with it other than the elite.

How All The Legends Could Have Been Relevent

Ragion.2831

I was wondering about the build options whenever they decide to release the patch It really shouldn’t take this long)

If we are going to move away from shiro glint being the only real option in PvP, my suggestions for Jalis especially should be seriously considered.

A legend that specializes in keeping enemies in close range with the knock down and pull will also make hammer a much better weapon for PvP without having to directly buff it.

Hammer has always been too slow to be considered a serious option for PvP. By simultaneously making all the changes to glint and jalis listed in the first post, its speed wouldnt be too much of a problem (assuming that the utility costs make sense)

Melee only weapons also wouldn’t put you at a disadvantage to mobile classes or give an advantage, because they are mobile classes. This is about playstyle not strengths and weaknesses. You should be able to take whatever you want and still be effective at what you are playing.

Mallyx would be a bit better because its main condi weapon is melee and often requires you fight in close range without taking too much damage.

Ventari would also benefit and maybe even be an option because not as much time and energy would be wasted trying heal, prevent your heal from being negated plus keeping your target at effective range.

This is pretty much a shot in the dark, i dont expect any of these changes to be even looked at let alone taken seriously since im starting to think build diversity isnt even their intention.

dunno why people keep saying they are forced to do something to get an item they want. Its like GW2 is the first mmorpg theyve played or something. Go play Runescape or Runes of Magic or probably WoW. High level items especially unique items traditionally only have one way of being obtained.

Missing the point bro completely. People are not complaining a certain game mode has its own skins. Like dungeons have their own skins fracts have their own wvw well HAD the mist skins (currently unobtainable). This is all fine and no problem with that. However LEGENDARY skins are completely different and should never only be obtainable to ONE game mode. As you maybe aware they are end game items for a lot of people and as such they should not be obtainable from only one source they are unique skins to the game but shouldn’t be unique to one game mode.

Other skins to their own game modes I don’t think anyone is complaining about.
Don’t forget ANET mis-sold HOT advertising 12 new Legendary sets of weps and Legendary armor. People brought HOT for that reason then they sold us the game 6 months later cancelling legendaries and now only making legendary armor obtainable from one game mode 70% of the community are not interested in playing (raids).

People have a good reason to feel let down and cheated yet again when it comes to legendary topic.. This was not what we were sold on…

Why do i even bother.

You say i missed the point, and then say Legendary skins should never be limited to one game mode, clearly i didnt.

Its because you think like this that I said unique level items are traditionally restricted to one location because they are unique items. Item restriction on items with a legendary status is nothing new to mmorpgs. In fact it is normally used as an incentive for players to play certain content, which in this case is raids.

Why should legendary skins not be limited to one game mode? I’m not saying they should, but why shouldn’t they? is there a good reason other than entitlement?

“70% of the community are not interested in playing (raids)” You know this how? where does this number come from? I’m not interested in raids but i dont pull numbers from thin air to justify an argument.

This sort of discussion of being forced to play content for items you want is mostly Anet’s fault for marketing to casuals in the first place then trying to bring in hardcores. Confused identity. I’m pretty sure this sort of talk would never be found on older mmos that made it clear who their target was .

I believe it was karl mclain who said that Revenant has been balanced around its current energy pool and generation. Clearly this isn’t the case since they constantly keep increasing the cooldowns and energy requirements.

They shouldn’t add energy increasing traits, they should use invocation to improve the synergy between the legends. There are some legends that cause bad weaknesses when used together which led to the shiro glint being the only real viable combination.

Traits in invocation that give certain ablities when different combination of legends are used, like an f2 skill (similar to dual wield on thief) would be a better idea.

Ive also experienced not having one while the other team does and it isnt fun but the answer isnt to nerf it, that woul be a horrible mistake but knowing Anet that is what they will do.

What they should do is open up builds for all the classes and let the rest resolve itself. If each class has lets say 10 viable ways they can be built competitively, bunker ele will not be able to have as much influence.

How? well they can start by combining utilities, making weak traits have more impact and putting restrictions on stuns/reduce the need for stun breaks. Cleanse should also be made a lot more easily accessible without having to use so many slots for classes that have their cleanse spread out too thin.

I dont understand what the plan for class expansion was:
- Fixed number of weapon skill slots per class.
- Fixed number of utility skill slots per class
- Fixed number of trait slots

They keep designing new skills in addition to the old ones but they can’t just add more slots because that means more buttons which won’t work for gw2 combat. At some point many skills wont be used (it is happening already) is that really what they want?

Same thing with traits. Three trait slots? what about future trait lines? at some point people will stop taking certain trait lines because definitely some lines will become better than others.

Just combine utilities (like necro spectral skills being a toggle transformation) and stop with the linear trait system, would save so much development time in the long run

How All The Legends Could Have Been Relevent

People who don’t play Revenant or have very little experience with it wont understand how bad he phase traversal nerf is. Waiting for energy to port when you can neither attack or defend causes you to take more damage.

Believe it or not porting TO someone is good way of defending yourself not just from your target but from people around you. I imagine the devs have next to no experience playing revenant at a high level so they thought nearly doubling Phase Traversal energy would only give thief relief.

If this is about unblockable then they should remove it and reverse the change. I wish they would think more before doing things like this or at least ask for potential consequences before making changes. At the very least run the thing through unranked.

The one thing i hate most is being slow especially since i played an evade S/d-d/p thief before they nerfed feline grace, i left necro for that reason as well.

Waiting for energy to get to the thief or mesmer so i can pressure and escape an enemy pin while my block is on cooldown is one of the most irritating things i have experienced so far.

Anyone else here that was a part of...

I think i was there, i remember a clutch lord kill that happened recently and im pretty sure that was the score. Did you have a revenant on your team? I think we were losing for most of the match

Unfortunately its not on my history anymore

To go one step further, this trait is rather weak.

Its healing is barely noticeable in the current (condi) meta where there is abundance of strong conditions (burning, torment, confusion).

honestly, if they made this trait a master trait and redesigned it to account for the number of stacks in a meaningful way, more people might use Mallyx

For sure, like always this studio has 3 bad ideas for every 1 good idea. Profession Achievement needs to go but who knows if that will ever happen.

The idea of those achievements is to force people to try spvp. It is a good thing imho, they should only change a little thing :
Or you can put Profession Achievement as “win X match on Y Class in unranked match” so that people try pvp , try pvp with all the classes , revamp unranked and don’t create problems in ranked .

You dont need 3 characters to try spvp

The problem with profession achievement is it encourages people to play classes they arent good with in ranked. You know how in fighting games they say if you want to be really good you should stick to one character, well there is some truth to it. It applys to anything that is heavily dependant on your reflexes like GW2 (for the most part).

For this game it is generally reccommended that you only play max of two classes, i personally can only play two before my reflexes start getting mixed up. Some play more but those alts wont be as good against people who stick to their mains, unless you are playing warrior. That is why for ranked profession achievement is bad,

People get past this by switching to their alt if the match is a guaranteed win. This just makes the achievement pointless. I think there are people who still dont know this and then just make and play with alts. This probably contributes to bad team fights even in higher divisions.

The real problem is that you are forced to do PVP for getting a pve element even if you are not interested in competitive SPVP.

The intention of creating The Ascension was to encourage as many people as possible to play PvP and reward people for high level play, Anything short of a legendary would not cut it

PvP and PvE are two modes of the same game not two different games. Obviously Anet will want as many people as possible to play both and the easiest way is to give rewards that can be used in both. Also the best rewards are the ones that are useful not just shiny objects.

So they had to give something that:
- did not give an advantage to PvP only players
- Something that was useful and can be used anywhere the player is to show off achievement. Since PvP doesnt use any special items it meant that what ever it was had to be useful outside PvP

The options where:
Legendary Armour – These werent created yet and they had other plans for this
Legendary Weapon – They canceled these and can already only be obtained in PvE
Legendary Backpiece/Glider – The Ascension

Why legendary grade items? because that is the only thing that would compel enough people to grind the league

500 gold would not have been a good idea. Would be terrible for the economy, would cause massive inflation.

It procs per unique condition. 1 bleeding or 100, doesn’t matter.

It heals every time a condition is applied (not ticking), stacks don’t matter.

what about skills that apply 5 stacks at once

Replenishing Despair – Incoming conditions provide a small amount of healing. Healing: 126

Does this trait factor in how many stacks of the damaging conditions are on you or does it just heal 126 per condition whether you have 10 stacks of each damaging condition or 1

Not everyone is going to get to legendary, so people who do dont deserve to be rewarded for it?

Ofcourse you are going to win 1v1s as a new warrior, that is the problem with warrior right now, warrior is the easiest class to win with.

Crossing divisions means you play better opponents and playing better opponents makes you a better player so yes the climb to legendary division makes you a better player

Your logic of not rewarding people who are able to play at a higher level than others is baffling to me. This is something that isnt even unique to GW2

Lol i give up.
