Lol people still holding out candles for necro. Its been 4 years. People like choxie, Nemesis and Edelweiss have moved on.

Necro is never going to change unless Anet gets torched and gw2 development moves to a completely new set of people.

An entire class that has to be baby sat to succeed. Its been like that since day one, its safe to say that isnt going to change.

All the retribution nerf did to the revenant meta game was remove retribution from the meta. Everything else would have stayed the same.

This time around invocation rev has been affected which means its quite likely that rev wont be used as much or if it is, its going to be a much much more vulnerable version since you have to stack damage increases at the expense of sustain to compensate for the damage lost.

Swift termination might have to be taken over assassins annihilation, rune of the scholar over surging. Might have to use both fire and air sigils on both weapons sets as well.

This level of dedicaton to damage on a class that has no disengage and now reduced blocking ability. I dont know if a rev will be able to last very long in prolonged fights now.

We got some reasoning behind why Rev gets nerfed so much. Anet says Rev is hard to play but once mastered it causes a lot of damage on the battlefield. This is true. I know they are heavily against rewarding high level play, but isnt this the way it should be? you master a class, you do very well with it.

The problem was that rev when mastered outperformed other classes even when those classes where mastered.

We literally just had 4 seasons of rev having a near 100% pickrate amoung tourney and proleague teams. Power rev is basically a upgrade power warrior, while also infringing on thief’s role as a roamer.

Also surge of the mists is/was a dumb gimmick of a move and it’s about time it got fixed.

Rev was only effective cuz of one reason only and it wasnt staff. Glint heal hard carries rev. People who support revs constant nerfs always conveniently leave out the fact that rev has no disengage. All the evades in the world will not save a rev that takes 10k damage in half a second. Even if rev did 30k with SOTM, without glint heal rev is useless.

If staff and sword was so good and had to be nerfed then why arent they used effectively with other legend combinations?

sounds like a Dh main who will keep facerolling his keyboard cuz the nerfs are pathetic compared to those of rev.

Yet Revs still beat DH ez. How about we don’t hop on that QQ train until the patch hits.

It is an even match-up currently, after these changes dragon-hunter face-rolls for the win.

To the Rev will carry, Necro will be a liability argument:

I played Rev and Necro in previous seasons where I 100% solo Q’d and Necro performed a lot better. Its mobilty weakness is easy to compensate in Solo Q just by knowing the jumping puzzles in the maps. Your chill an cripple spam will make it hard if not impossible to follow you.

Rev might shine when facing a power based team or when having an Ele babysitting 24/7. When I played Rev I was too often condi focused while not having someone to support me and died as fast as a Necro would do when standing still on midpoint. So no way, that I generally recommend the class for Solo Q.

Rev+Ele Duo Q is great and can carry the rest of the team.

DH is trash they said, DH needs buff, they said. Well you got your buff and still back again with the DH threads. I stressed several times that the sustain buff was going cause traps to make the class look broken but ofc only thing people said was l2p. Now we are back here again.

This is why the studio doesnt take suggestions.

If DH is going to make any sense at all then they have to lower their damage which could make it useless against high damage builds, or redesign it completely so its not about damage which If also done wrong will plummet the class into uselessness.

Either way we will be back here again screaming about DH. If you only play PvP, y’all better off uninstalling tbh instead of this never ending cycle.

Lol ithilwen strikes again. Do you have any idea what it would take to generate 5 unique classes on 2 teams while also keeping the teams skillfully close to each other.

You guys need to forget about stacking being fixed in gw2 unless the population is ridiculously high all the time. If everyone who plays pve and wvw played pvp often then maybe. Even then at higher levels of play there will still be disastrously high queue times.

Just blame anet for creating an unbalanced 5v5 system and move on.

O no, not this. You should know necros have been asking for a redesign since the game was created so revenants have no chance.

Revevant doessnt need a redesign it is not as bad as that. A stun break here, a better heal there, toss in a couple cleanses and fix some bugs then the class should be fine.

Except Ventari, Roy’s original design is really good. Of all the classes this makes the most sense balance wise tbh

The ability to continue dealing damage in situations that would kill any other class are what I love. I just wish that ability was more valued by the community.

Edit: OH and the self reliance. The ability to self might, apply max vuln on your target, the ability to heal yourself through careful use of shroud to mitigate damage inbetween heals. There’s just so much play in the class its hard for me to give it up.

I dont think people understand that thief is in a very odd position, If their evades get nerfed in any way the whole class suffers. All it took to force thief into the dumpster before HoT released was the re design of feline grace which prevented enough endurance regen. At the same time thief as it is right now looks a bit much in some match ups. Rev already has multiple ways it can be countered and at the same time is a full counter against some builds.

The way the game is i dont see how they can prevent stacking in solo q. All that will accomplish is skyrocket queue times especially if they factor in player skill level by MMR or whatever shortsighted metric they use these days.

Its a complete lose lose situation that can only be solved if they simplify certain things like stats:
healing power should not exist, they should just normalize healing values without it

Condition damage doesnt need its own stat, just tie conditions with weapons only and have the damage only be increased through traits and might or the damage type on weapons be swapped from power to condi through traits. Easier to control the damage.

Vulnerability doesnt need to be a stackable condition, just turn it into a debuff with a fixed value

Retaliation should go or act as a rare (non boon) buff with a limited duration

With thieves i would just redesign the class. The whole thing with its either you hit me and I die or you dont hit me at all is pretty foolish even if some classes can deal with it.

With DH, traps their damage potential would have to be moved to spirit weapons, because they are weapons.

Toughness is unecessary, all that damage reduction should be put on utilities and weapons like certain shield skills greatly reducing damage taken for a duration in addition to blocking skills.

Cooldown traits removed and cooldowns normalized

Utilities that only work with certain weapons to avoid game breaking combos and help weaker weapons like necro’s gs. I could go on for days

All their balance issues are because of how complicated they designed the damage dealing and mitigation system. Its their own game, they can do what they want. Its just going to be yet another MMORPG fail in the end if thats what they want. We’ll just move on

Effective 2 handed weapon users? need advice

play pvp with 2h builds then see which playstyle you like the best. You dont need the 80 boost for PvP, unless you want to focus on one character for PvP and PvE

As someone put it sPvP is like playing rock paper scissors, its more about match ups than anything. One match you might run your 2h build and do well another match your build becomes useless.

You are just expected to guess what the other team is running and then re build which can mean not using a 2h weapon.

PvP is about to go through massive changes which may include a balance patch. I would suggest not playing till the update comes out. If you really want to run something now try:
Greatsword/longbow warrior
Longbow Dragonhunter
Longbow druid
Staff daredevil
hammer scrapper
Greatsword mesmer/chrono

Try these and see which you like best. As for the 80 boost i would probably wait till update.

O and the matchups thing doesnt apply to condi mesmers and dragon hunters, they have no problems using one build against everything. Thief as well

PvE also doesnt provide an incentive to PvE since no more levels and gear no longer matters once you get to level 80 unless you are in it for the legendaries that dont do much other than sparkle and the story (but frankly, ive heard better writing)

WvW i havent set foot in for probably at least a year by now and I hear its not so good either. So what do we have left? :S

At least we are getting Lost Ark online soon and the footage ive seen are godly.

You might be right since i dont have numbers or havent been big on joining coordinated teams. But from my experience im fairly certain that majority of pvp players solo or duo q. There are four major complaints about pvp

Matchmaking system – many people felt that they were put on vastly weaker teams because of how mmr worked. Apparently this was proven

Build diversity -not a lot of builds and too many things set in stone, people got bored and moved on

Premades – The community overwhelmingly hates premades, this was shown during the poll. If the community hates premades i dont see how the population would drop because of the removal of premades.

League grind – Honestly if not for the exclusive legendary wings most wont have bothered with pvp, Overwatch also had a league system similar to gw2 Blizzard got the exact same complaint of it being grindy and they changed it, Anetgot the exact same complaint and are finally changing it.

3 of 4 of the complaints have to do with the pvp system, so i think we can assume the population issue is mostly to do with that.

community killed premade not anet. Whether pvp has premade or not isnt what is going to determine how popular pvp is. Yea there might be some people who just play pvp when they get 4 or 5 of their friends together for a few games. I think most people just generally have a problem with the system.

Population is always at its highest whenever there is a major system change. April feature pack, I think anet reported like a 50% population increase during that time.

After a while things died down then they released HoT specs which affected pvp then league system. People played that for awhile for the wings, didnt like it too much for more or less the same reasons, left and now we are getting a new system.

Population will go up again until we find something else fundamentally wrong with the new system.

They would have solved a lot of their problems by showing us everyone’s MMR during a match. I want to see how high or low my MMR is compared with my teammates and opponents. I want to see it go up or down after a game. I also want to see a system based more on individual performance.

When people can easily see each of their actions have good and bad consequences and are rewarded and punished accordingly in real time they will become more competitive, especially if there is a solid reward system.

Lol shocking, another bugged skill. A number of skills dont work well on an incline. Keep testing this with a friend or something, if it consistently keeps happening chances are its not just you. My guess is at least the blind effect stays

Yet I dueled a Legendary rank warrior yesterday with a power necro, and won the duel rather easily.

He came off respawn and went far/our home on Foefire. I came from mid to greet him. I was on the point most of the fight, aside from when I needed my heal.

I really don’t understand why ppl feel Foot in the Grave is a bad trait. I think it’s the best trait in SR. A stunbreak on 7 s cooldown that also gives stab? I think that’s pretty cool.

i dont think anyone feels ftg is a bad trait. The reaction when ftg became a stun break (for a long time it wasnt) was overwhelmingly positive. Most felt it was one of those things that took too long to happen.

Rev vs Condis

Spam through your rev skills, melt your opponent, repeat so your opponent never gets to drop his condi’s on you.

Other than not engaging in the first place this is the only way to reliably fight condi, except condi mesmer. Damage is split between clones and they have every type of active defense in the game. Other than running around in circles dodging clones, against a good condi mesmer going ham with the damage doesnt work.

If the invulnerbility was removed or coulnt be used while cc’d and 2 of the precision strike projectiles were guaranteed to hit the target then there wouldnt be a problem.

Even something as little as increasing the number of condis cleansed in invocation from 1 to 2, or the cleanses specifically removing damaging conditions like what thief got after its condi issues was finally looked at, it would go a long way without having to actually nerf mesmser.

No tomi, rev does not have the best physical damage in the game, mesmer for one has better, warrior, thief as well. When rev’s physical damage is spilt across multiple targets, precision strike is prioritizing inanimate objects, unrelenting assault often sticks you to the map without hitting the target and CoR cant detect uneven ground i dunno how rev has the best physicals in the game.

Rev is only seen as one of the better power users because of its blocks, evade and glint heal assuming the attack skills work

Honestly the only nerf chrono needs, condi especially is something done about its invulnerability. It shouldnt be there. Just create slightly more opportunities for the build to get hit, problem solved. This round about way of nerfing is just going to lead to an over nerf.

Man, I don’t know why you are crying cause Chrono is by far the best counter to revenant. And just like Revs weakness is chrono, dragonhunter is chronos weakness. We currently have this rock, paper, scissors gameplay and most people don’t enjoy it as most matchups are decided before skill even becomes a factor.
Whenever you see a chrono a single point, run, you can’t kill him. But you can swing that teamfight in your teams favor pretty quickly, which is your job.

Rev is still in a good spot, but your best defense is offense. Just stay away from chronos.

Someone actually told me this game really was rock paper scissors and i thought it was odd even though i knew it on some level. When i read this that comment makes a lot of sense.

When im on rev and my teammate is getting a beating by a condi chrono ill be sure to stay away.

This is why mmorpg studios like the new guys over the veterans. Veterans have played all the content and ask for more, its all new and shiny for the new guys. Usually its ads, articles and youtubers that encourage the new players to come in.

Caed vs the Guardian. With the original feline grace Thief had 3 dodges, 4 if you waited a second. That plus S/D with D.P would have made the fight even but Anet shattered feline grace because they wanted Daredevil to be relevant :/

People have been asking for a surrender button for the longest time, instead of doing it they give us that ridiculous box that shows the players faces which blocks your entire screen..

Last thing we needed was one another pop up screen in addition to the one that was already there. A pain in the a** in server rooms when there are still fights happening after the match ends

At least once, since everyone says that class balance is kitten and that theres no diversity. One stream where they address these two problems in detail and how they feel about it.

Why do they think necro doesnt need active defences. Why is it ok for some classes to do more damage than necro but have all the negates types in the game with escapes plus mobility. HP tanking does not work anymore unless you want to do no damage, do they know this?

Axe stops connecting when the target rolls once in the middle of its cast even though the animation is still going after the dodge. Do the devs know this?

Why do they allow thieves to counter revs at similar skill level but when rev countered thieves they rained nerfs down on it without buffing the things that needed buffs.

What do they want to do about PvP? When Blizzard changed Overwatch’s PvP system, they released a video explaining the change and why. Considering the disaster that was the league system, maybe they should say something now and read the impressions before investing into another broken system.

When i see how much more visually and mechanically advanced gw2 is compared to other MMOs it is unfortunate to me how these guys could royally f*** up.

In my experience i find that usually when you have a high defensive ability that doesnt last very long it means that it is only effective canceling short bursts of damage so you can survive long enough to do high amounts of damage.

So Jalis elite 5 second duration with a 5 second protection is only effective if you can do a lot of damage but not so much if you have to use it multiple times in a short space of time. This type of balancing does make sense, the problem is this is the wrong era.

Before the June 23rd 2015 patch Jalis wold have been a pretty good legend. Actually all of revs legends would have been considered viable (the ventari tablet resummon would have still been a problem). We would be seeing more legends being used but the studio balances with no direction.

no it really doesnt matter if you post on forums or not. More than anything i would like to know what their big picture for the classes is and how they intend they interact with each other. I dont need any specifics on development.

Is the whole thing with builds and even entire classes countering each other intended?

I also want to know if skills glitching with the map or skills not working properly half the time (especially teleports) something they cant fix and have given up on?

Do they have any plans for the runes. Many of them are really useless mostly because they have unnecessarily long cooldowns for minor effects, are tied to unwanted stats and you cant tell when they are off cooldown.

Since i play rev i want to know what they plan on doing about glint, mallyx and ventari. .Every patch has been loaded with nerf after nerf when these legends have glaring problems. What is the plan there?

Ive stopped expecting to get any answers because im convinced they actually dont like developing for the game. Its pretty obvious with how slow they address issues, how they dont actually show us how they see the game and how number of devs up and left to Amazon

The question is what do you do as a mesmer if you get jumped and then one shotted by a thief you cannot see

Even a crit-backstab cannot 1-shot you — maybe take away 80%-90% of your health — but an auto or two is needed before you go down. Use that time to pop distortion and counter-attack.

Also, most thieves go in stealth by putting down a pistol 5. Watch/listen for that, and you will generally know when it is about to happen.

One shot does not necessarily mean one attack taking 100% hp it also means a combo that happens almost instantly that takes over 80% of the targets hp
