Might as well go ahead and flat out ask, should I give up on hoping the issues with Precision Strike hitting random hitboxes have any chance of being fixed soon?

It’s a huge pain in the back in raids, and although they aren’t common at the moment the projectiles even hit other player’s Ventari Tablets in PvP and WvW. This bug is more or less the reason why I play other characters now.

Necro/Reaper: The Good, Bad and Ugly?

in Necromancer

Posted by: Ragion.2831

Ragion.2831

The good i guess lots of condi cleanse.

The bad, unnecessary amount of wind up skills. Headbutt. Eviserate, precision strike and a lot more, do alot of damage but dont take days to cast unlike grave digger, executioners scyth, minions. The execution skills that do have a longer cast time like killshot on warrior for example are offset by quickness which the class has.

The ugly, pretty much everything else about the class. Too many bad traits, its like when they don’t know what to do for a trait, they give it health siphon that doesnt really make a difference. Shouts trait, wells trait, even trait specifically for grave digger. I struggle to understand how 277hp is going to help you when you are taking damage from everything mid cast.

If it isnt irrelevant siphons, it is just flat out useless traits. Has anyone actually taken relentless pursuit over chilling nova or augry of death. If you really want to talk about relentless pursuit in todays game, make the trait have shroud 2 teleport

If it isnt the traits it is the utility dependence, no flexibility, so need utilities all the time and no decent passives to help unlike warrior. Warrior pretty much the only other skilless class in the game has passives all over the place and they have more flexibility but get endure pain at 50%hp, get stunned, auto stun break and toughness boost. Necro’s unholy sanctuary triggers when you are pretty much dead but that was changed for warrior. Shouldn’t it be shroud CD is reset at 50% hp? especially seeing as we are likely to give up soul reaping for it. If we arent, well then it s a tanky bad damage set up which wont be breaking anything.

I could be here all day writing everything wrong with this class lol

Signet of Agility cleanses only 1 condition

in Thief

Posted by: Ragion.2831

Ragion.2831

It’s only supposed to cleanse 1 condition. I think you’re misunderstanding the wording of the skill. It also cleanses 1 condition on each nearby ally. It doesn’t cleanse a number of conditions on you equivalent to the number of nearby allies.

360 radius, so basically it is going to be useless 99.99% of the time. Thieves don’t huddle with their teammates, thats the fastest way to get killed. It shoud be cleanse based on number of enemies but i guess that makes too much sense to be implemented.

The sigs flaw has been overlooked anyway because of its active and some of the other cleansing options.

They will probably emulate the way the last patch dropped. Whilst I’m not a fan of not hyping up forthcoming content/features, it seemed fairly clear people were pleased with the size and surprises of the spring quarterly and that their method worked successfully.

We might get a tiny prelude blog to ls3, but realistically I suspect they will continue with the policy of surprising the playerbase on release day.

How would you rework Guardian?

in Guardian

Posted by: Ragion.2831

Ragion.2831

guard doesnt need a rework. The only thing guard might need is an increase to its base hp.

I dont know where the whole thing about class roles came from because if it is Anet that created this, then they really are more clueless than i thought.

When you have 9 different classes, roles will definitely over lap, there are only so many things a class can be made to do. Overlapping roles shouldnt be a problem because roles shouldnt be what makes a class relevant but play styles. How different is it to play revenant compared to guardian even though they are both boon bots.

So naturally even though both classes are about the boons people will take guard over rev because they like the way guard plays and vice versa.

They should have allowed all the classes the ability to fill every possible role in the game through traits instead of the whole this build counters this build counters this class and this trait counters this trait and this trait only works well with that trait, turning the game (pvp especially) into a glorified game of rock paper scissors.

Unconditional block skills are far too common

in PvP

Posted by: Ragion.2831

Ragion.2831

This has already been solved. An example is the guardian skill “Renewed Focus”. It was nerfed to NOT contribute to point cap.

Then again, guardian invulnerability (Which doesn’t make you invulnerable because condis keep hitting, DUH ANET) is the ONLY one which doesn’t contribute to point cap.
Expand that common sense to the rest of the blocks and problem solved.

EDITED: We do NOT need more unblockable skills.. Aegis as it is is a joke and as you said, if you were to further expand it’s uselesness it would be a sick joke to the guardian.
I repeat. PLEASE DO NOT ADD MORE UNBLOCKABLE SKILLS

lol wait, renewewd focus is the only invuln skill that doesnt contribute to point cap? really

By pressing CTRL+T locks and pings your target. You can then press TAB to switch to other targets, then you can simply press T to switch back to the locked target.

This doesn’t work for you?

He’s saying that when there is AI in front of your target, the AI blocks the way to the target and you port to the AI instead. Basically body tanking for them.

Then I don’t think that will change anytime soon since that combat mechanic is there by design. This is also the reason why positioning is very important. Having to ignore the minions as part of the collision detection diminishes the purpose of having minions in the first place.

I think the better solution is to make them less tanky so there’s an actual risk in having those AI minions around. (Note: I’m talking about minions and not pets, since the Ranger pet is part of the profession and should remain tanky)

But the problem is they made them more tanky to prevent them from being useless in the first place. Honestly this isnt too much of a problem, if you play DP for a while overtime youll get used to avoiding the body blocks. If the minion is the type that is low to the ground but somehow still blocks your path, jump while pressing 3

Body blocking is kind of a good thing, adds a level of skill to combat

ofcourse organized teams will have an advantage. PvP was built for team playen though 99% of the pvpers are strangers to each other. If they had in match voice chat that the players could use or some sort of really good speech to text program built in then maybe their delusions would be understandable.

In game voice chat is nothing ground breaking, an MMORPg from 2009 had this for raids it should be something Anet could do, but well, they are Anet.

I dont think you should be playing many organied groups in the first place. Even if the team is premade, they are likely still just random people grouping together. I think there is a system preventing 5 man teams from playing PUGs isnt there?

The trait is actually working as intended (25% chance to apply torment), but the tooltip is incredibly inaccurate.

That said, I don’t think it’s GM worthy with a 15s ICD. How does 10s sound?

25% chance to apply torment on hit? how is that a grandmaster? Im not really sure there is any such thing as minor, major and grandmaster anymore. Those distinctions were made when we had to allocate points into the trait system. Now there is no benefit to not using part of a line

Personaly dont know why the entire trait system was removed, it definitely wasn’t to “encourage build diversity” if you really want more haracter in the trait sytem then bring back the point system with proper GM traits but simplified

As for the corruption line. Shouldn’t there be a defensive “GM” trait? the legend already has a lot of access to torment as it is, the last thing it needs is more torment let alone one insignificant stack.

Would it be possible if some of the devs would do a segment on ‘On Point’ and explain what they are thinking when they create the traits. I would like to understand if there is some planning behind it or do they just wing it and wait 4 months to change it again.

Ragion.2831

This whole nerf chill damage, nerf war, condi mesmer hard carrying teams is all so silly. Whats even more silly is how everyone seems to be pointing at the classes themselves to be nerfed, do that and the crown will just keep shifting and it will never stop as long as there are new players to chant “nerf [insert class]” and these disastrous devs refuse to get a clue.

The solution is very simple, if a complete redesign is out of the question then remove all the passives let the players o the work. Remove the variables, Might stacking, retaliation, vulnerability stacking, weakness, too many things contribute to damage and too many things have their own stat.

Combine condi and power into one stat have vulnerability no longer stack, limit and drop the number of might stacks. Remove the silly healing power, condi duration and boon duration stats. Let the class traits and skills modify the durations.

There’s kitten that can be done right now (with some testing) to solve a lot of the problems so we dont have another drunken esl player embarrass the studio on stream.

executioner’s scythe + soul spiral = 6 stack of bleed on anything within AoE range and can do much more damage than chill’s DoT.

Not sure why you are comparing heavy chill damage that triggered from anything with chill on it to 6 stacks of bleed that needs 2 skills with not so short cool downs on them.

Much applause, people are still trying. Just do what every other necro is doing these days. Invest in a staff and go condi. If you are like me and don’t like the way condi plays, there are other RPGS that are based on common sense.

If you want to run a high damage great sword, your toughness will probably be low (amongst other issues) and healing/siphon builds dont work for low defense damage focused builds since everything has its own stat.

This studio i can’t even, ive played a number of RPGs and i gotta say this is probably the worst studio i have ever come across. You would think they would pick up a few things from people like GGG who design Path of Exile, that studio is on steroids, they released two expansions in less than a year, one of which was an elite class thing like what we have but smarter.

Pillars of eternity by Obsidian Entertainment, very different from gw2 but the foundation for their class design is genius, simple but not simplistic. If it was brought over to this game and modified for active combat, the number of possible builds would be unimaginable. Instead we get a studio that is content with making unnecessary changes every 3 months that dont solve anything

Uncanny Pattern in Class Viability

Ragion.2831

So wait.
Shield of courage and wings of resolve you count as ‘defensive elite’ but physical supremacy, unhindered combatant, escapists absolution, bandits defense, hardy conduit, elemental bastion and overload water you dont?
And its not just the defense btw.
If daredevil was based around speed and defense it would be a really cool, optional choice for non-stealth thief gameplay.
But in actuality it also offers great utility, as many damage boosts as deadly arts and pulmonary impact.

If you read the daredevil section carefully you will notice that i did recognize Daredevils defensive abilities. They are what makes the spec even remotely useable. The problem with daredevil is that it is a very high risk class to play, making it more likely to die in a team fight because of all the random damage. You cannot defend and attack at the same time except with sword/ pistol (which has its own issues) unlike DH where you can pop shield of courage and do something else.

Traps like Dragons Maw and test of faith and the longbow as well all defend and attack at the same time. When you add things like renewed focus and shelter which don’t take away from any build it just makes Dragonhunter objectively a better elite spec. On top of these there are burn builds that allow the guardian to burn and block at the same time.

Don’t forget how daredevils were treated last season vs dragon hunters

Uncanny Pattern in Class Viability

in PvP

Ragion.2831

Are you having trouble locking down a stable build? Do you often find yourself changing utilities to counter something only to just be countered by something else? Well Anet doesnt seem to want to change that but maybe this will help you find out why.

For years i have been trying to make power necro work in a way where i dont need to be hiding behind teammates just to hold multiple people when i need to. I have swapped to thief in the past and been able to do that, Revenant as well but even though i have had Necro for the longest time the class still makes no sense to me

So while Anet is still being Anet I decided to break down the class to solve this problem.

- The only defense is shroud, trading blows with 2 or 3 people with rise and protection when there are no high damage AoE skills does not work.

- Too many skills require set up skills. The high damage skills are slow so you cant just use them when you need to like other classes. You have to stun or immobilize first, or hope your opponent is a lamp post

There isn’t any space for players to use the skills in ways that fit the situation. The reason why thief, mesmer, revenant and a few others where so successful was because a lot of their skills were very flexible. Thief for example can use heartseeker, withdraw, teleports etc to attack or jump into better positions. This makes each thief very unpredictable and makes the class different depending on who is playing it. It also means the are too many things to account for when balancing.

Necro on the other hand does not have that freedom. That does not mean the class should be designed like the others, there are ways of keeping its identity while designing it in a way that makes sense.

These are pretty much the foundation issues, what i found next was really interesting. Since core spec only builds are pretty much useless against Elite spec builds, the class’ viability is hinged on the Elite spec.

It turns out that the most successful classes have their defense tied to their elite

Chronomancer – Shield, gives a huge boost mesmer defense which allows its offensive side to work well.

Herald- Shield + infuse light. If Revenant didnt have these two things (especially infuse light) the class would have been a flop

Druid- Staff + Celestial Avatar. It is common knowledge that ranger heals from CA have been considered broken. Staff also gives a kiting bonus

Scrapper – notoriously known for its sustain from the Hammer blocks, reflects and sneak gyro. together with invulnerability and healing turret Scrappers could do great damage while holding against multiple people. This prompted nerfs to turret and gyro.

Dragonhunter – Often said to not be viable at high level play but i disagree. Legend division is as high of a level as you can get without going pro and last season there were quite a few of these.

The new virtues gave the class a huge defense boost which meant that the traps and longbow were much more dangerous since you cant just face roll through the attacks. Sheild of courage + wings of resolve which synergize with renewed focus are the reasons why its high power and low toughness meta build worked so well.

The Problem Classes

Tempest – Its elite trait line has no real defensive traits which led to the tank/support auramancer being the only viable build in PvP

Daredevil – This class lost its duelist nature because it had really low defensive abilities compared to the abilities of other classes. The extra dodge, bandits defense and bound as a combo finisher allowed it to see some play but only as a decap class because the defense of the better elite specs for a while rendered its burst andrun play useless in a standard match.

Berserker – Almost no defense in it elite spec, instead was given more offense when it already had a lot (Anet logic) Its non existent defense caused it to be a running joke in PvP until the condi meta meta which allowed it to tank and stun for huge damage. Was still not as great as some other specs but at least made the class playable. Unfortunately power warrior was then forced out of play for the most part.

Reaper – Again no defense in the trait line but a boost in offense (especially conditions)The class is tied to shroud but only one traitline boosts shroud. Playing without that line is extremely difficult since your survival depends on it (Power or other wise) Together with its lack of flexibility, power became virtually unusable. This caused its condition side to be the only viable way of playing because there was the option to tank and cause the defensive abilities of other classes to become useless.

Warrior is not OP

in PvP

Posted by: Ragion.2831

Ragion.2831

One season warrior sucks. Another season warrior is OP. Anet has no clue how to balance classes.

You could argue that you know something is “balanced” when some say something is broken and others say it isnt with good reasons.

The problem really isnt if condi warrior is strong or not because at the end of the day im pretty sure there are reasonable counters to condi warrior. The real problem is we are just talking about condi warrior. what about hybrid? or power?

All what these devs are doing is shifting builds around . Today, a build and one build only for one class works, tomorrow that build (or the class as a whole) suddenly doesnt.

What worries me the most is people are always quick to celebrate a buff without checking to see if it it is real balance where people are free to experiment or if it is just one build or class swapped for another. Condi warriors celebrate now, but how long will it last? definitely not for long

As it is now, i cant even bring myself to play this league because these devs havent learned a single thing, not one. Its insane.

Posted by: Ragion.2831

Ragion.2831

some people thought i was exaggerating when i said Revenant is going to end up at the bottom. This is what happened to warrior, they just kept needling it until it broke and didnt do anything about it for months.

Honestly i really shouldnt be surprised at this point but somehow these r!@arded designers find some way to…

i get a build and playstyle that i enjoy pat down, then once again Anet decides to be moronic. What was the f!@kng point of nearly doubling phase traversal requirement. There are still too many trash legends, and a very limited number of trait combinations that actually make sense

All you have succeeded in doing now is completely slow down rev to a near standstill forcing people to either take hammer or suffer mobility issues with staff (which thanks to the constant damage nerfs doesnt pay off as much anymore). And hammer is slow and has much less defense making it horrible for PvP.

What about condi rev? Shiro mobility was what made it work as if riposting shadows nerf wasnt bad enough.

The problem here is that every one wants to run the same skill or build call it wtv, and do well in 1v1 and team fights and have all the sustain at the same time also.

Lets talk about reapers atm , this class performs better in team fights imo, i always run a build to help team fights , so when im 1v1 a thief for example i shouldnt just win easy ( usually i do cause 90 percent cant play thief) but when i face a proper thief like sindrener or sizer or red levin its almost impossible to win because they dont just eat aoe and desingage if they need to .
U need to look at your build also and see against what classes u r up against then think what to do .
Reapers are not weak imo but having no invuls or blocks and now losing the chill damage hurts the class.
So less burst now, i see it as a big nerf to the class, and i need to adjust my build over this change .

I would like to suggest adding 2 stacks torment to chill damage insted of 1 bleed.

But yet revenants work well in team fights and 1v1, so does engi, so does mesmer, same thing with ranger. This argument is invalid and is pretty much the same flawed logic Anet is using.

Sounds like you’re just mad your OP reaper got hit with a nerf and refuse to learn how to play a better balanced reaper :P, Ragion.

Necro is probably going to slowly die out and more people will switch to condi mes, warriors will probably all go condi and everything else will stay the same.

There are a lot of productive threads pointing out what exactly the problem is and most of them said the same thing, but nearly all of it was ignored in favor of pointless nerfs, and buffs that don’t do anything.

I dont know why people put active defense in the same universe as shroud. It just tells me that they havent played a class like mesmer, engi or revenant.

Because of how inflexible the class mechanic and weapons are, there is a lot of strain on which utilities you use meaning necro needs access to more utilities. How many times have you been inconvenienced by your current utility set up wishing that you could use something else in that moment, now how many times have you felt like that when using another class.

Shroud management? really? if life force didnt degrade so fast without vital persistence then you can talk about shroud management. If shroud management was all it took then top tier necros wouldnt be using flesh wurm. The whole talk of shroud management doesnt mean anything anymore, there is too much damage now. The days when you go into shroud when you are expecting the burst then leave when its over are long gone.

Shroud management, so easy to forget that necro was known to be the least survivable class even with shroud then the studio had to drop spectral armour cd and later add damage reduction traits.

Now its all about do as much damage as possible and Anet has been feeding it to the point where they have to keep adding damage reduction skills, traits and trinkets. There was a time when warrior didnt need to have endure pain at 50% hp or guardians with extra blocks but its so easy to forget isnt it.

Power/precision/toughness/ferocity aka Demolisher’s, there was a time when Anet would have shut down before they created an ammy with that stat combo but now, theres too much damage.

Infusing terror nerf was f@#king uncalled for. The class cannot move and they take away stability, all they’ve done is increase the pressure to take soul reaping line, which is the last thing that should be happening.

These kittened nerfs, ive seen before, it seems like the studio is once again holding back the necessary changes to the class for a patch we wont see for many months.

Directly nerfing condi reaper was also uncalled for. That was the last thing they should have done, condis themselves were the problem. They just needed to slightly reduce chill, torment and confusion application sources across a few classes and then nerf burning damage.

Eventually they’ll be forced to do it it is only a matter of time and when they wisen up.

I’m done, there was a reason why power necro was never used in ranked and now they nerfed condi reaper in the worst way they should have. Ill just climb up the ladder again with my revenant next season while reapers slowly disappear from ranked.

Ive played necro for a pretty long time and revenant consistently since HoT beta and everything ive said is based on thousands of my matches and videos of good players and especially my experience climbing up to legendary division in league. Every fight 1v1 or otherwise comes down to who is best at negating attacks, counter attacking and how well they position themselves.

Two thieves, mesmers, revs, DH it doesnt matter, so much damage can happen within the space of even 2 seconds that damage mitigation doesnt hold a candle to damage negation,. a power rev is more likely to survive and down two full power mesmers than a power reaper is.

The studio insists on making necro attacks so slow that other classes on paper have an easy time avoiding it, a well played shiro glint negates a condi necro not to mention a power necro.

Against 2 thieves? predict if you would last 10 seconds without shroud? on a power build? that is not going to happen especially when thieves control the fight against necros in the first place.

I wish you were with me today in Hotjoin, a good number of high level players that i’ve run into in the past were out, again as someone who also mained necro, there is simply no way a necro would have been able to handle the sort of mesmers, revs and thieves that were in there.

Rise and frost aura dont negate, you still get hit regardless of what you do which is a problem when you have to worry about multiple damage sources. Its easy to think well mitigating damage to a really small amount is pretty much like canceling it with block but it really isnt.

Take for instance, as a revenant with a squishy build i see two thieves coming at me, i’m expecting a burst so i start blocking. Luckily for me both of them used their utilities (like fist flurry, impairing daggers)and steal without basilisk venom which means i just negated like 20k damage. If it was necro, first of all rise has limited range and only works when attacking which means i wont get the effect, second protection from spec armour would get stolen, third i would still take a huge hit even if i used shroud, i would also take the effects like dazes, immobilize + other conditions like slow.

I’m sure you can agree that in this case even a 2 second block is better than every damage mitigation necro has.

Also skillful play to me involves damage negation, effectiveness of the counter and positioning. Necro does not have damage negation except the awkward blinds, counter attacking is usually difficult against classes that do have alot of negates which is just about everyone else and necro doesnt have very effective re positioning skills except wurm which has its problems.

The combination of damage mitigation not really helping in the grand scheme of things especially with power builds and a lack of any of the three things i describe as skillful play is why i say necro is not a skill based class. At least with condi, the condi pressure makes up for it which is more than i can say about power builds. The damage potential might be there but at what cost.

Looking forward to the vid

Sword 3 also cannot shadowstep past objects even though other shadowsteps do.

If ranger sword AA is getting looked at after all this time, im not sure revenant that was just released a few months ago has any hope.

One thing is for certain, there are too many variables and Anet is unable to account for all of them.

Remove condition damage stat and dedicated condi damage weapons. This can be done if:
They merge condition sources with direct damage sources and keep the condi damage base flat but allow the damage to be changed using traits alone. Instead of having power stat and condi stat and then might affecting both and then vulnerability affecting both and then traits affecting both damage types, that is just really an unnecessary amount of moving parts.

for example, Hundred blades applies bleeding then you can have a trait that says _bleeding does 30% more damage and another trait that has a chance of doubling bleeding stacks when applied .

Condition damage should also be applied only when conditions are met, for example,
– Confusion can only be applied if you hit a foe from behind or the side
- Torment has a chance to be applied if you hit a stunned foe. That proc rate can then be raised using traits
- Bleeding only has a chance of being applied if you crit
- Poison can be merged with other skills
- Burning can be applied through fire aura and then increase fire aura sources in different ways on all the classes.
None damaging conditions will then be either combined with other skills.

Things like chaos aura would then give the user a chance to inflict any condition on foes that hit them

This would allow dedicated condi damage weapons to not be so dedicated to it anymore so instead of one weapon being condition based and one weapon direct, it can then be weapons focused on damage, focused on utility or a mix of both.

Utility skills should be combined, there are too many with individual cooldowns. You can probably combine all the spectral skills for example into one spectral transformation utility skill that changes the 1-5 (with cooldowns) which you can swap in and out of

Transfer and corruption utility skills can probably be merged into the plague signet which stays active for a duration transferring and corrupting boons passively while the skull sig is over your head.

Other class’ utilities can also be merged in ways similar to this or in other fun ways

I’m not sure power necro has any skillful play, most of the time you are trading blows with other people, hoping you dont take too much damage. Sometimes you might pull off a nice trick like porting with wurm while simultaneously casting “Chilled to the Bone” or Grave digger or you get the timing on your faster stuns right. but for the most part its you taking damage hoping they dont negate too many of yours or nothing too random happens. I thought GS would have ended that but, nope, which is really sad.

Are there any good power necros, even if the opponents in the vids are usually of lower skill level, i would say yes but just by judging on how they handle the situation they are in not really if they kill the guy or not.

Like Holts, his gs play is pretty fluid and not too many unnecessary moves and he doesnt panic. Edelweiss is also not bad, i used to play with and against him unfortunate he hasn’t posted a vid in a while, would like to see how he handles the current cancerous game.

The OP doesn’t factor MMR at all.

MMR had a HUGE impact on my performance in League’s when comparing my main and alt acct. I didn’t ‘learn’ anything new as I flipped back and forth between them, my alt acct. just had better MMR and so I was matched with better MMR players, so naturally I won more.

In my opinion, the OP was just passed by everyone with better MMR so was able to progress in the end, as his MMR became better than those within his division/pip range.

My main struggled to get to Legendary while my alt breezed to it. Season 2 MMR was more about placing you in games you were meant to win or meant to lose.

It wasn’t about having a good game.

The reason why i dont is because i cannot actually see it working. i cant see each players MMR then conclude ok yea it definitely is MMR. Even though the whole idea of the system foolishly putting people with low MMR together, i dont know how much of it is MMR and how much of it was skill so I had to assume all of it was skill.

What I got from this story: typical average player goes from Ruby to Legendary by switching to Revenant. Duly noted.

+1 – what I get from this thread is that there are winners and losers – tell me something I don’t know

Actually, not just revenant, condi mes is in the same category and there is condi necro but you still see alot more mesmers and necros than revenants because of how conditions are being treated in the game

Also, i realized that i wasnt as experienced with revenant as i thought probably because i had very few matches compared to other classes. I didnt play season one, just hot join so i pretty much learned revenant properly this season

Rev’s gonna make you cry,
Warrior’s gonna say goodbye,
Thief’s gonna tell a lie and hurt you.

LMAO Genius dude, genius but here is one slight correction to the engi line

My Experience Getting to Legend Division

For those who feel they are stuck in MMR hell. Honestly this topic is best done in a video but i can’t do that especially since i didnt record gameplay but i’m just going to as briefly as possible explain how i ended up in Legend Division after being stuck in ruby and tier 2 diamond for about 3 weeks.

The class i play now is revenant, I made legendary champion on Necro, then played thief for just over a year then switched to revenant. I have about 5400 matches on thief, almost 3k matches on necro and about 1k matches on Rev. 99.9% of my league matches are with Rev.

When i started i lost no matches in Amber, 1 match in emerald, a few matches in saphire and then hit a wall in tier 3 ruby. This is what people would call MMR hell.

For some odd reason, i might win 5 matches in a row then get to tier 3 ruby and then lose the next 10, this happened for about a week. It made no sense to me. I thought i was decent enough with Rev to clear the league no problem even though i have a small fraction of the experience on the class compared to other classes, apparently this was wrong

No matter how good you think you are, if you are stuck in a division, from my experience it is likely that you arent as good as you think.

Does this mean MMR hell does not exist? no

It also helps that i play one of the two carry classes, Revenant, but each time i broke a wall like i did at tier 3 ruby i realized that i played far far better than i did before, my rotations where better as well.

It didnt help that i only play Revenant well so i can’t switch classes when Anet decided to match my team against stacked condi mesmers and condi necros (which is pretty much all the necros and mesmers you will meet anyway).

After clearing Ruby, i hit another wall in diamond. I thought that after what went through in Ruby i had gotten good enough to not have this problem again, but no that was wrong as well. Same thing, win 5 or 6 in a row then a triple lose streak, for two weeks this time, this was when i almost quit all together.

But at the end of the second week, i got so annoyed to the point where i decided that by any means necessary i will make it to legend division (I think it was an ego thing). Before this point i didnt realize how difficult it was to concentrate on killing as well as paying attention to rotations but i was able to go from no pips in diamond to tier 6 in 2 play sessions.

Then i hit another wall.

This one was different, my rotations were better, Pk’ing skills were better but it wasn’t enough, I had to forcefully drive the match to my favor. I had to make sure necro’s were dying without thinking my teammates would pull their weight, had to know when to Aoe stun, had to pay attention to Search and rescue and know when to sacrifice myself to stall. It really helped playing revenant, this would not be possible playing necro or thief.

I had to consistently play at an extreme level which i really wasnt used to. Up until this point, i would tend to relax in some matches because it was pretty hard to go full on every time but was so close to legend division that i had to learn to do it so now. I’m at legend and i’m a much better player than i thought i was.

This is pretty much why i left the necro class. The problem here is the fights were way too close, for a class that has no decent blocks or disengage skills it is really bad if one person can do that much damage and has the skills to prevent you from doing damage. That is what this studio cant seem to understand

Unfortunately the DH wasn’t very good. She had all the skills she needed to avoid taking any damage from reaper shroud and then hit you hard afterwards but she didnt use them until the damage had been done.

If up against a really good DH you would have been extremely frustrated especially since you are using power. Sure you could take the shout for unblockable, but you would something else really important.

How often is the air immobilize problem a problem? Every time? I’m only asking because I’ve never personally come across it.

Not very often but it really doesnt mean that because it is not common, then it doesnt matter, especially when people lose fights because of it.

Yesterday, I was in ranked fighting a thief. I had the thief low so he ported and i activated facet of light so when he ported back i would use infuse light and finish off. The thief ported back and attacked immediately like i thought except that i jumped at the same time to avoid an obstacle and the thief passive trait which immobilizes triggered. I couldnt even use infuse light which has no cast time so i was stuck in mid air unable to do anything and then ended up dying as a result.

I have also been air immobilized on skyhammer a few times playing as a thief and then died. I have also won fights after immobilizing someone in mid air.

Over time this sort of thing has happened enough times to the point where there is no reason why it should be ignored. If they have time to remove Necro’s spectral walk vertical escape, then they have time to fix this.

For some reason Anet is unable to code properly when it comes to anything involving the z axis. Getting immobilized in mid air locks you out from skills, often times shadowsteps don’t work when they are supposed to and pulls sometimes launch people in the air.

I lost a fight to a condi mes because after I pulled with grasping shadows, i used auto attack to finish off and hit nothing for the full stun duration even though the mes was right in front of me only for the mes to rubberband back to where i pulled em from.

Same thing happened against another revenant except no rubberband, still dont understand how i would be hitting nothing when the target is right in front of me.

Searing fissure is just another one of many but yet the studio will continue to spit out these fancy skills even though they sometimes dont work when they are supposed to

How long has it been? 3 and half years? how is it possible that air immobilize lock still exists.

For those who don’t know, if you are immobilized in mid air you cannot cast skills except some instants and even some instants do not work. Why is this still happening?

Secondly, pulls. aside from the normal issue of pulls being obstructed by air molecules, for some amazing reason, sometimes after I pull with grasping shadow (revenant off hand sword) when i try to auto attack i dont hit anything.

Another thing with pulls is why does it launch people in the air? i have missed crucial follow up bursts because of it. It is a pull not a launch, or am i mistaken

Third. Preview system, why can we not preview all the armour with dye in their respective dye channels as well as dual weapons (sword and shield for example) in one window. I have to open bank wardrobe to preview equipment, TP to preview dye on the equipment and the channels on the preview window doesnt allow for the proper dye channels that each equipment has.

Then weapons, If i want to preview how two 1 hand weapons look with each other i cannot do that, I know games at least a decade older than this one that dont have that problem.

What bothers me the most is not that there are problems like this. There are bound to be issues when building anything technical. What irritates me the most is that theyve been there for so long.

Preview system is abysmal but TP was redesigned once and wallet redesigned twice, There have been threads on air immobilize but i havent seen so much as a response to them. And pulls. if you are going to design fancy stuff at least make sure they work and not just add them in to be “different”

You main guard i assume and the problem you had was the opposing comp. You needed a mesmer, ele or thief.

Here is what Anet would tell you to do about it.

Change to the class you need, doesn’t matter if you dont play it well.
