The shroud cd trait has never really been worth it in pvp. It was nice in pve for a time, but it’s pretty much useless for well managed necros in pvp. If they actually buffed the shroud traits maybe it could be incorporated into a build. Currently it just isn’t worth it.

You must have always been running super tanky builds or playing in such a way that you avoid being focused (long range battles with wurm escapes) because Vital Persistence is vital (no pun intended) for survival for most squishy or semi squishy builds.

I’ve stopped even running anything but tanky builds in spvp. Every time I was playing a 1mil dmg Viper build, I would run into a thief every few games who just pewped on me.

Not sure if I’m just super-bad or if there was just no way to play around getting 1-2 rounded, and if i survive, being unable to keep the person from just bolting away and coming back later to try again.

Good thieves will usually control the fight against a necro (thanks to the flexibility difference) so there really isnt too much you can do against one that really knows what they are doing. Sometimes you see vids of necros killing thieves but i assure you, as someone who primarily plays a thief, a necro isnt meant to kill a thief all thanks to Anets design. So it really is not your fault.

The decision to separate elite specs from the rest of the class is so kittened that there are just no words. Look at Path of Exile for christ sake, the new expansion, Ascendancy has class upgrades as layers (equivalent to GW2s elite specs) added ON TOP of the base classes as. Anet decided to create content that cannibalizes the base classes completely, why? Instead of focusing on creating new content and skills, they are now trying to increase functionality on some of the bases.

The elites should have been built into the classes and then a fourth traitline for improving them, not the craziness they designed.

Ive been saying for months that there needs to be powerful shroud skills that consume life force. They would be offensive, defensive or act as a straight counter. Often times straight up tanking with shroud is just not good enough, there are too many dangerous skills for that to still be effective. So unfortunately, reducing Shroud CD to 1 at first glance seems nice but it will do very little to solve the problem. Of course life force consumption skills will only work if they make life force generation truly part of the class not something you lack when you run most builds. They would also have to remove that silly life force degeneration.

Knowing when to enter and leave shroud used to be effective but that changed when Anet decided to increase everyone else’s defensive and counter attacking abilities to obscene levels. Before, you go in when you know a burst is coming, then you leave to counter burst. People used to be the most vulnerable right after a burst so shroud timing made sense.

Now, even after a burst there is still something to worry about, from even more high damaging attacks to the multitude of attack negates to the unnecessary amounts of new skills that leave you unable to attack (stealth gyro, gravity well)

shroud had a 5 second CD at launch now its 7

When traited. It’s also worth noting that we had less shroud flashing stuff back then as well.

I wouldn’t mind seeing Shade return tho.

Forgot to mention when traited. I’ve been running Vital Persistence for so long because it is just about mandatory that i forgot 5 secs is from a trait.

Its also worth noting that balance is relative. We might have had less shroud flashing stuff but other classes had less nuking and disruption abilities.

Please recognize while you are doing the 100th necessary multi class revamp that Necromancer has two problems:
1: The slowness of the class while a design choice often leaves the class vulnerable to faster classes meaning they have to evade more times than the class is able to. If you want to keep the slowness, then have the class have strong passives and stop increasing the Shroud CD every year.

For some who may not know, shroud had a 5 second CD (when traited) at launch now its 7, if you learned to play the class back then you will be able to notice how much of a problem this is.

2: While necromancer may have a wide variety of anti skills (skills that counter players’ skills and actions), they are mostly unique to very different situations all of which exist in every game but we only have the skill capacity for some of them. For instance, having attacks to be unblockable is really important in a power build when fighting a guardian but because the class moves like it has a stick up its b***, defensive skills are also necessary when fighting thieves. We only have a certain capacity for skills so we have to choose, die to guardian or die to thief. Corrosive Poison Cloud is another one, a crucial skill because every other class has very high damage range skills but taking it means lacking defense against melee or condi

With every build we choose how we are going to die instead of how we can be effective with our preferred playstyle. My advice is design the class in such a way that we are not losing crucial capabilities with every build we use other wise we will keep doing this class revamp song and dance every 6 months

so they finally changed bandits defense to a flip over. BV giving unblockable is just..gawd this studio. By the time you finish casting BV to counter a block the block will almost be over. “Nothing Can Save You” has that problem. Why not have BV to be an instant equip type elite similar to Shiro’s Enchanted Daggers or have steal make attacks unblockable, anything that instantaneously allows you to respond to blocks, why? because thieves die very easily and so have to always be active. We cant be sitting around waiting for things to end or skills to finish casting before we can act. This is the reason why thieves are in the hole they are in. Somehow the studio has failed to recognize this after 3 years

As for the changes they have listed in the live stream,, i wouldnt expect them in the final notes. This is exactly what they did before destroying feline grace. They said that Feline Grace would make Vigor 20% more effective in a stream just before the June 23rd revamp then what did we get?

It really doent matter how many times you ask, if youve been following the game long enough you’ll realize they are incapable of any semblance of balance. They have created way too many variables and left behind the main idea behind gw2 combat, player skill. To change what theyve done now will take a lot more than changing a few traits and skills on one or two classes.

If i were to list the amount of issues the studio has created over the past year alone, i could probably write a book. Just forget about this game man, or at least pvp.

Wouldnt really say they are incapable, game was Pretty balanced Before June, it was HoT which broke the balance as they introduced a butt load of evades with barely any counterplay to what they unleashed, its very undoable… they just need to cut down the Evades and things they’ve flushed into the game and put the Weapons utilities and mechanics of the Elites into the Core proffessionl leaving the traitline as a Option rather then a package deal.

Its fixable… we’ll see what Pre-season2 patch brings before we place judgement if they can or cant fix it tbh..

Just before, June yes pvp was actually playable but it took the better part of 3 years to get there and even then there were still really noticeable problems like necro, arguably mesmer, parts of guardian that most couldnt even justify using in pvp, so many bad traits on many of the classes (luckily there were enough good ones to keep some of the classes up).

From June to now things actually got worse not better and in 10 days it is going to be 6 months that this mess has been going on. So its going to take another 3 years? another expansion then it happens all over again?

Instead of them to solve just one problem at a time then test it they have multiple teams doing everything at once , so they either over buff or over nerf and in some cases nerf what doesnt need to be nerfed and buff what doesnt need to be.

Well, all the descriptions are kinda wrong nowadays.
Another example:
Thieves are expert in the shadow arts. They utilize stealth and shadowstepping to surprise and to get close to their target. They’re deadly in one-on-one combat using their agility, acrobatic fighting style, and the ability to steal to overcome their enemies. They have an affinity for setting traps and using venom. As an adventurer profession, thieves wear medium armor.

Deadly in 1vs1…

At least the description for Revs is still correct:
Revenants channel the power of the Mists. As a soldier profession, revenants wear heavy armor. The revenant profession is available to players who have purchased the Heart of Thorns expansion.

Yea it should not be there. Its funny you mention this because i was just thinking about the same thing yesterday when i was once again changing my power build. It used to be in curses but the studio decided to use their own version of logic and put the 2 movement traits in the same line so you either have easy access to movement which is actually necessary or use half your build space trying not to be a crawling target.

The people who say thief is the weakest class are the ones that got so used to the old meta. These people also say S/D is a weak weapon set and Dp is the only way to go meanwhile you can use both, but nah, they made the assumption that bow is mandatory.

Thief is the only class that is only as effective as the way you play it because of how flexible it is. If you decide to play like majority of the thief population, burst then stealth burst then stealth and not bother learning how to evade, port and when, then you will be in for a rude awakening.

Ragion.2831

From my experience worrying about group strategy as a thief is probably the best way to fail. I just attack who needs to be attacked and that can change at any point. Team can be attacking the target but as a thief i can decide to disturb someone else to stop them from getting off those dangerous skills easily and switch depending on who is the most threatening.

If the mesmer is the target and i see a ranger on a ledge undisturbed, steal from the mesmer, use plasma then attack the ranger, switch to reaper or DH if they are looking too comfortable, then switch again if they dont get downed so easily. Thieves don’t do this, the typical strategy is everyone burst down the same target but with all the negates its really not that simple (except against reaper).

The flexibility on thief is what makes it really useful in PvP, since burst isnt really tied to CDs you dont get the problem of wasting a skill on someone that should have been used on someone else so you can bounce around when you need to and really destabilize the opponents, if done right anyway. How to do it is what is really lost on a lot of thieves thanks to the old meta. Can also leave whenever and decap which can work to.

So yes thief is selfish but thats what makes it really awesome.

Contemplation of purity, Daredevil, Mallyx and Glint, Warrior, i could keep going. Reaper neither has a counter for high damage burst or a 100-0 combo (interesting name for it). In fact a Reaper just being in the vicinity of any other class puts it at a huge risk of being killed within 5 seconds if not less. Pretty depressing actually.

Fighting both? Pick the one that’s useful for fighting both of them.

you have just pointed out the single most damaging flaw of the entire class. Typically with most other classes all you need to do is run some utilites that you think are most important then let the innate flexibility of the class do the rest but since that doesnt apply to Reaper, you basically have to change your build everytime you need to fight someone, so what about PvP?

Its pretty funny that Dragon’s maw is an elite that triggers through evade, block, blind etc and it is on a 75 second cd AND is a continous stun that holds in place but Reaper elite is a 1 off skill that is affected by just about anything you can think of. Meanwhile DH has better mobility, defence, damage and is more flexible than a Reaper.

I think they need to move DH, Rev and chronomancer teams over to warrior and Reaper because whoever is on those 2 teams now don’t seem to know what they are doing.

Mallyx is God

Tbh thief should murder any viper rev. Ez prey. Right as they swap to Mallyx, steal stab and unload burst. But cause everyone and their mom thinks thief is in bad spot (it inst) viper revs can run and counter other braindead condi classes and dont worry about being bursted 100-0

So that’s why so many thieves are running P/P now. Not that I’ve seen any of these thieves win 1v1 yet. I think it’s just the stun there that can kill the rev tbh. If timed right when the rev is low on health you should have a free kill.

I think he just meant “do your burst”, anyways I agree after initial learning curve every rev 1v1 with my daredevil has been as easy as killing old necros. I find that projectile you get (especially with double steal) is key to easily beating the rev. It doesn’t hurt that I played Rev hard for a couple weeks and know when to not attack (which as a thief you have that choice when to pressure and when to be wherever you want)

Can you teach me how to play daredevil i tried it and i have a pretty good time but few mistake will seriously down you instantly. But like the mobility and ninja like movement.

Only duel for about 2 weeks without using stealth. Seriously, only duels, dont play any matches or any other class and forget what stealth is. This is what you gotta do If you want to play thief like a jedi (i and another of the few truly great thieves got called this while we were fighting, it was pretty funny).

It will be hard, you might think its impossible and that the class is bad but if you get the offensive evasive style pat down you will be pretty amazed at the things you can do on the class. Now i dont bother running shadow refuge or bow and its awesome.

Stealth dependance is the reason why so many thieves complain when anything to do with stealth is changed, look at the steal needing a target thing. The only reason people were complaining is because they were too slow and didnt have the composure to escape a gank without just pushing steal for hidden thief trait.

Some Necroreaper questions

in Necromancer

Posted by: Ragion.2831

Ragion.2831

Im not saying Necros are worse at cleansing at healing because that is just untrue. I am saying that every other class has the ability to be effective while overcoming their weaknesses.

A well played thief can actually outplay 3 or 4 people without spamming stealth. It is hard, very hard to do but if you have the composure it is possible, when I use the class i definitely feel anything is possible as long as I very quickly make the right choices. The same goes for revenant. I don’t have much first hand experience with the other classes but just from my experience playing against them all those negate chains evades and mobility skills make those classes very flexible at overcoming many situations as long as the player makes the right choices very quickly.

Necro is a complete disaster of a class at doing this. The class feels like it has been stripped naked and wrapped around with bricks. It is always vulnerable, any other class handled by a competent player can make a necro do what he/she wants. I know this because i have been on both sides.

What im asking for is a build, any build that allows me to outplay under any circumstance. Like the way thief can. I have never run Shadow refuge, hidden thief or short bow so if i make too many wrong decisions i will die a lot but I found that these three things are not necessary if I kite properly, attack the right target properly, switch to a different target at the right time and most importantly, use the map terrain properly I can do some pretty insane stuff especially thanks to the DD elite.

Seriously ive tried everything, every build is always lacking something because the class cant use movement to compensate. Some of the cooldowns are too long, some skills are very luck oriented while some just put you in this impossible position where you need to use it to stay alive but you have to do something else at the same time to stay alive. I seriously need this class to work, too much is on it for me to just swap. So im just looking for a PVP build.

Some Necroreaper questions

in Necromancer

Posted by: Ragion.2831

Ragion.2831

You dont use reaper as a daggermancer?

Nope. You give up so much damage by dropping Spite and I’ve become kinda addicted to Foot in the Grave. This means Blood has to go, and I don’t enjoy Dagger nearly as much if I can’t abuse its bajillion-life-siphon-proc potential.

But I am curious, if you dont use dagger or blood as a reaper, then how do you get your speedboost?

Signet of the Locust. The active is actually pretty good in its own right, rivaling a full heal skill if you can hit 4-5 targets.

Help me out here, see by taking spite i will have to drop curses meaning i drop plague sending and MoC meaning my cleansing and healing goes to S***. Cant let this happen because the class cannot play in a certain way to compensate for that loss unlike other classes.

If i take plague signet, i will have to drop “Nothing can save you” which would be bad because DH and revenant would be virtually impossible to deal with without it. Again unlike other classes the class cannot play in a certain way to avoid this loss.

I am running a power build with berserker ammy D/D and GS with rune of speed. D/D because i need the transfer and blind with all the conditions since the class cannot play in a way that can avoid them unlike other classes. GS because the skills are really useful when fighting multiple melee players. Rune of speed because the class is unbearably slow without it.

Is there some power build i am not aware of that can drop all these things and is capable of outplaying conditions, multiple people, kites, mobile players, negate chains and stealth like every other class (except warrior).

With this league going on and after investing all my PVE progress in this class I am very close to hunting the person responsible for this design and tossing him/her in a dumpster.

My initial feelings on necro

in Necromancer

Posted by: Ragion.2831

Ragion.2831

As a necro 3years running..my advice to you is dump the class, seriously dont do it. I still play it because all m y progress is on it and the thought of starting again gives me nightmares.

The class is sluggish yes but that was the design choice so its OK. Where the stoopidity starts is that you are not compensated for how sluggish the class is. You will quickly realize that the class is not only sluggish but has no flexibility when it comes to attacking or defending.

A dev said on livestream that reaper is not so much you going to your opponents(like thief, or revenant) but pulling your opponents to you. Ok? so why is one pull a utility (taking up a slot you need for something else) and the other on an extremely slow weapon both of which also have 30 second cooldowns. They are both only single target and affected by block, blind and stability while mobility skills arent and can defend you from multiple people. Somehow the designers convinced themselves you can swap mobility for a couple single target long cd pulls and that compensates for the problems of dealing with faster, mobile classes that also have blocks, blinds and stability, o and can continuously chain negates.

So seriously unless you just want to use something different from the other classes sure run necro, but different in the case of this class means bad.

I dont run Shadow refuge, short bow or hidden thief and unless im fighting on open ground while in a duel I have never felt the need to take either of them. After about 8k matches as a thief if not more, i have seen just about every type of player and scenario you can think of and i can comfortably tell you that this change to steal is a non issue.

Believe it or not, using steal on that 1 guy in most cases will be your way out depending on your build, direction you chose and what you do after you steal.

Think for a second, when you die what is typically the reason? it usually isnt something that happened the moment you died, but something you did before that, either you didnt see someone in time or you didnt react early, reacted wrong or stayed when you should have left even if you had full hp.

Twice today i used steal the same instant the player went into stealth, i mean what are the odds, but the patch saved me from wasting it on thin air. I’d call that a good thing. If i want to escape a threesome then I have dp, sd and shadow step for that. Even using roll for initiative for positioning behind an obstacle is effective.

How many times have you accidentally used steal on a target that went into stealth almost at the same time.

Maybe 1 time for every 100times i used it for the buffs?

Yea it is not common but you know what should be even less common? needing to use steal ooc when you can run into an opponent at anytime, needing to use steal ooc when many other classes already do that and needing to use steal ooc if you run SB

steal w/o target had it uses with hidden thief combo when you needed to get away from being spiked w/o landing in massive aoe cluster spam on point

i used steal ooc a lot for decapping, now it is worthless as well

Is that the reason why people are complaining? there are 101 ways to get out of that situation without needing to waste steal.

101 ways? amuse me

Port? with the countless options you have on the class? Evade? steal from a distant target? since stealing on a spot to avoid AoE really doesnt help you unless you evade or port which defeats the purpose of wasting steal in the first place. The numerous stealth options?

Steal can heal ,do damage, rip boons, grant boons, recharge skills, stealth for backstab, daze, apply conditions, grant endurance and probably more i have missed, but you decide to give up all that just for stealth that doesnt block damage and that you can get in other ways?

In some cases it’s a nerf, denying you access to that swiftness which you might need if it comes down to a decap to win a PvP match, or if you’re running hidden thief and just need the stealth.

Mostly, though, it’s a buff. I lost count how many times I’ve missed steal because I press it a millisecond after my target enters stealth. This patch should prevent steal from going off in such cases, allowing me to use it for its full effect.

No, mostly it’s just a nerf, as it means that you cannot activate your buffs without a target.

lmao, this cannot be a pve issue because that would be ridiculous. Is this a pvp/wvw issue? because i can list several reasons why you shouldnt be using steal without a target.

Agreed.

When I get owned in PvP, my first theory has to be that my play was bad. My second has to be that the other player is better. If I don’t start with that, I’ll never improve.

I certainly never blame the game — it’s only a set of tools that I need to learn how to use.

That doesn’t mean it’s impossible for skills to be unbalanced or unfair; it just means the burden is on me to show that it’s not my lack of skill or the opponent’s expertise. The OP hasn’t met that burden.

Partially right. Asking those two questions typically works when u are using a class that can very quickly counter play. For example the revenant could have walked up to the guardian, evaded and blocked to avoid all the damage then used unrelenting assault through the procession while the guardian was bursting with gs.

Where those questions dont work is when you are using a class like necro which is wrapped in chains and has a stick shoved up its kitten where the only counter play is pray you have just enough hp and life force to tank the damage.

Secondly, it is designed with the same problem that Corruptions overall have, a positive effect that is too weak paired with a negative effect that is too significant to leave alone, but on a skill not strong enough to warrant taking other mechanics to offset.

This is the part that caught my attention the most. Made me realize how used to taking other skills to offset how weak some skills are that I saw no problem with it. Compelling enough for me to revise my stance on Master of Corruptions, it is actually pretty interesting when you put it this way. Especially now that we need so many utilities but are limited to using 3 (minus elite and heal).

Generally very well written and interested in seeing posts on the other lines, particularly Reaper.

Here is the thing with Necromancer as a whole, The class is really complex, might just be the most complex class of any MMO ever created. Reasons and comparisons i wont go into but anyone who has played Necro and other classes extensively will agree. This means that to make the class truly effective and not a “win more” class like you put it, designers have to have a certain level of creativity and logical thinking to pull it off and Anet’s necro devs do not seem to be at that level.

For example necro is designed to be the slowest and most movement restricted of all the classes in the game without completely overshadowing other classes in DPS in a game that is based on movement and reacting quickly to the environment. The whole thing already contradicts itself making the founding idea for the class irrational. It is no surprise that the end result was a class that was almost always vulnerable or could easily be made vulnerable.

To even remotely begin to pull off such an irrational idea, it will have to come from the traits, each and every trait should be able to effectively punish other classes in some way for even being in the vicinity of the class, why? because they are faster with competitive damage potential which means they will do more harm to necros in a shorter space of time while at the same time equipped to avoid the slow high damage skills of necros.

Another point is the design choice of giving necros pulls as opposed to teleports other classes have. This would have been fine but of course illogically implemented. Pulls are affected by stability, evades and block, which there is plenty of on other classes but teleports are unconditional. Where exactly is the balance in that? Why is there no trait that bypasses stability? This means that on my Revenant or thief I can quickly pressure another class i see in the area which is a huge advantage, unaffected other players skills.wheras on Necro I have to run towards them in slow motion unless i activate a skill (putting it on cooldown) or use shroud 2 with Life force I may not have, (also putting shroud, the only defense on cooldown) then attempt a pull, that may not even work thanks to bad implementation, that can be blocked, evaded or nullified by stability

I still do despite everything because critting Gravedigger is the most satisfying thing you can do in a game.

Lol this request has come up a lot of time. Really though, themes are also important when designing these things so how does a large stick suddenly create smoke? Dust from the ground sure, but smoke?

Why does everyone think necros are bad?

It was like that before. Not so much now.

As i recall… maybe you’ve also seen the video footage of you telling the community that necromancer is inferior to the other classes in terms of DPS, and he also doesn’t bring team support.

Now you say it’s not no longer the case… does that mean reaper is higher DPS then the previous glass cannon ?… Or does it provide that insane team support you guys complained necromancer doesn’t have ?

Or… do you retract the claims you have made to the community in these two years ? Will you also go back on all the trash talking aimed at me in these two years ?…
What about that money you got for MY work ?

I am confused, please explain.

Ok so.

We got CPC projectile block, minions buffed, rise, better dps, deaths charge, an aoe pull (gs5), more vuln, vampiric presence and improved blood magic.

Damage is only a small part of why necromancers are better now.

Necromancers are better, no one is disputing that, Reaper is a very good upgrade and a pretty hefty amount of work went into it but when you sweep $h_t under an expensive carpet you will still smell the $h_t. The best way i can put it

How to Fix Greatsword in SPvP (Devs plz)

in Necromancer

It really doesnt matter if Gs gets buffed or not. If your changes got implemented today, the problems will still be there, you will still be wasting your time with everyone else that is constantly evading, invunerable, blocking etc. All that would happen is the changes will give people more reason to stack all these negates.

Do you know how i know this? because its how the studio makes its changes. What you will see if they d buff the weapon is a slight LF regen increase, maybe pulse interval on nightfall shortened or if we are lucky, a slight grave digger cast time decrease. Forget about the radius being increased by that much. Forget about any new animations for QoL.

What you are looking for is for the ability to punish classes that constantly stack attack negates. That unfortunately will not come from one weapon buff but from some traits being reworked and/or added.

I consider myself a decent PvPer, and usually my games show this. When I use a dagger, I do pretty well. Usually first place on various stats.

Sometimes when I use greatsword, ragey players on my losing team will message me to comment how bad I am and stupid for using such a terrible weapon.

I just wanna use the greatswooord. It’s the whole reason I got amped for this xpac. /QQ

I WANT the Dragonhunter PULL !!

Ragion.2831

Anybody else notice the GS pull is targeted but fires waaaay to the left/right all the time? Like it’s almost comically off center vs a strafing opponent…

Yea…I noticed it. Worse still sometimes it just knocks down instead of pulling and that really skrews u over. Spec grasp is the same, and a lot of times it gets obstructed by air molecules. Lol they try all these fancy things but maybe they should leave it to studios that have the tech and expertise to pull them off (no pun intended). Its nice to try but when the end result is so clunky, it does more harm than good.

An idea i have to fix the pulls is instead of a projectile, have the animation of a hand appear at the target (Underneath the target for GS 5 and a huge ghostly hand for spec grasp) both will have a grab animation that doesnt pull until hand is closed similar to dragons maw which can also work as a tell . The coding can then be similar to mag pull or spear of justice since they are more reliable. The only difference is there would be no visible line to the target.

Another thing I’ve noticed when using GS, is that I often use Gravedigger just to bait dodges. I’ll be in Soldier ammy in sPvP focusing more on RS for damage, but if I want to get a dodge out of the way, I’ll roll in with Gravedigger. People almost always dodge it, and it doesn’t really mean much to the grand scheme of the fight for me. If it happens to land? A few thousand damage is nice.

Sometimes having an ability they have to dodge is a benefit if you don’t want them to dodge something else a few seconds later.

Thats an expensive bait there friend. Most people dodge on their own eventually when you are attacking, most also don’t expect to double dodge so either just use a pull and grave digger or attack a few times, they dodge and then use Grave digger

Personally i like the flair of GS. The way the skills look are pretty cool. Yes the weapon is questionable in effectiveness and yes the easiest way to solve it is to speed up animations here and there. However this may mean the animations will be dumbed down. Dunno about you guys but I find aesthetics as important as effectiveness when it comes to games so I say why dont we have both. If i were designing it I would definitely do both:

For 1, nightfall really should be doing more than melee blind (that is not even that effective) How about projectile blocking? How about creating a fear wall? How about having utility categories on the weapons? so GS can have things like spectral skills or wells.

Secondly, traits unrelated to GS still indirectly affect GS. what do i mean, for example if there was a trait that allowed your CC attacks to not be affected by stability, considering Necros limitations i think this is a fair GM. Theres waaay too much pressure on utility slots, we cannot have unblockable, enough boon rip, projectile defense enough condi cleanse, enough life force regen, movement speed and the other random thing you would need to run Necro especially when you need to activate 3 or 4 skills just to take care of one problem.

Lastly ,Shroud should passively be doing more than taking damage. We should be able to punish players just for hitting shroud instead of having to go through, all the blocks, teleports, invuls, evading attacks and stealth all which give the other players attack advantage. Look at mesmer, you attack the mesmer, you are the one getting punished but they have block, stealth, invulns evading attacks, faster cast times and shorter cooldowns so they always get attack advantage, defense advantage as well as mobility. Where is the balance in that?

Request for LF generation on offhand dagger

in Necromancer

Posted by: Ragion.2831

Ragion.2831

I agree. Needs LF.

Edit: Necromancer no longer needs OH dagger for condition transfer so it’s value is much less.

actually we do need it for transfer, allows build diversity. The last thing we need right now is more pressure on utility skill slots.

Thoughts on Reaper in PvP

Ragion.2831

Problem with Reaper isnt so much reaper itself but the core of the class. There are very few traits on necro you would call strong traits. The class still doesnt handle being out numbered at all. I can understand being useless when outnumbered but a sitting duck?

Was in an outnumbered fight between a necro, engineer and warrior. Was focused on the engi but because of all the random stuff i had to avoid, everytime i was just about to finish him, he would go invulnerable or use stealth. Got the same engi alone later in the match, got in a nice damage string and ofcourse went invulnerable at around 10% hp. I waited and timed a spec grasp to hit the instant it ended, it worked and started a dagger AA to finish. Got the first hit in and engi went invulnerable again and then stealth.

Out of annoyance i chased in the likely direction and found him at half hp attacking someone else. Charged and got ganked by 3 people but ofcourse there was no clutch double invulns, no stealth so i can escape and not feed the other team like the engi did. According to Anet i am meant to go into Shroud and miracles will happen but ofcourse shroud doesnt do anything but delay the time of death. At least i managed to down the engi in the end

watch this. you’ll feel a bit silly when you realise how easy the traps are to avoid.

This video is a load of bullkitten. 1, none of this is on points, you can avoid the traps all you want but the traps are still there besides Fragments which is still there giving him 5 stacks of Aegis. He says the daze is an identifier but never actually shows it once in the entire video. He only dodges the maw because he knows it’s coming, he doesn’t dodge the maw animation, he dodges any trap animation, good thing the DH wasn’t hitting him with his weapons at the same time or any allies at all on the map. He says melee pressure but hurrpy durrpy durrp the only problem is the weak kitten traps and daze spam and knockbacks at melee range. You go ranged and his weapon is better than the rest of the range weapons since True Shot has low cooldown compared to volleys, a projectile destroying attack every 10 seconds and more basic attack damage the rest of weapons besides 1k plus range Ranger LB that does around the same.

i feel like I understand why you complain on the forums all the time.

you’re not observant & your problem solving skills & defeatist attitude will take you nowhere.

but he is right…The video shows how to dodge the traps in a very controlled and calm setting. PvP isnt a lab experiment dude.
