If that’s the case, wait for it to arrive and send it back whilst contacting amazon, just make sure it doesn’t get opened. Also it should be addressed to you and not your brother since Amazon makes you re-enter payment methods if you change the addressee.
Better yet, make your brother pay you back, and make sure he cannot access your Amazon again.
You can buy either the box, OR a digital code. Considering the OP’s terminology, I’m guessing it was the code. Otherwise, he could have just canceled the order.
Having your serial code is not necessary to access the game. Customer Support will help you, even without it. Also, nothing prevents you from storing the serial code in a file elsewhere. Everyone that downloads the game digitally must do so, either in their email (not recommended) or copied and put elsewhere.
As Incupatus here is says, you can regain access without the code – it just makes it a whole lot easier.
As far as how much importantce Anet puts on the serial – it’s the same as CoH, EQ, and other online games I’ve played.

The items are 1 time only per account. As long as they are not soul bound If he places them in his storage then deletes his characters, they will still be there when he creates a new one.
And as far as the armor skins – if he’s used them, you can transmute them (should be able to, anyway) to white-con armor which should make them merely account bound vs soulbound.
But they do apparently support their vendors giving refunds. I’d talk to Amazon.
Younger brother used my debit card without my permission to purchase GW2 a day or so ago. Unfortunately its not refundable through Amazon whom he purchased it from. Being its just a serial code, is it possible to receive a refund through ANET/NCSOFT?
Did he buy it on Amazon via your account, or did he get ahold of your debit card and run it that way?
If the latter, i’d be surprised Amazon wouldn’t refund it.
Either way, try droping support a line – they should be able to help you figure soemthing out.
And worst cadse – if your debit card number gets black-listed, you can ask the bank for a new one.

The BEST place to ask this would be the technical help forum, as this is exactly what it is.
I know my thumb drive is formatted NTFS. I think the main file you need to copy over is the gw2.dat file – which is one HUGE file. That and the launcher is what you need.
Anyway, the Tech Issues forum is the one just below this one on the list – the folks there definitely would have the exact answer you need.
Most of the retail boxes I have purchased in prior years for various games did have the serial code on an insert. It’s probably cheaper to print it that way.
Also check the inside and maybe outside of the CD case if that’s still available.
This – especially since each code needs to be unique.
Going forward, I’d recommend to your friend (and you!) to keep track of serials like that. I use 1Password, but there are various alternatives, many free, that you can use.
I’m not sure, but they won’t really tell us (to prevent people from gaming the system). But just don’t be vulgar and it won’t matter.

While there isn’t an exact match, the numbers are close to error codes saying it’s on Anet’s side. The message is also used when the stored password is corrupted.

What they could/should do is introduce a new “item” and have it only slotable with certain weapons – something like how in another game, Greatsword users also have the ability to equip “sword knots”.
If it’s your first violation, you might already be able to log back in (depends how serious they found the name). If you can, I’d write a ticket to support (link at the top of every forum page) explain what happened, and ask them to look at the other name.
Unfortunetly, Anet kind of messed up and uses Infusion in two different ways.
One is simply a special upgrade. That’s what you are looking at/linked to. The name and base stats of the items stay the same.
The way Astral linked you get back a DIFFERENT item – if you look at the page for the ring you have (http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Royal_Signet_of_Doric) you’ll notice it’s also considered an ingredient for “Royal Signet of Doric (Infused)”. That name means it’s a different item.
It does work, this has been known for a long time.
Just remember : in ANY MMO, it’s better to assume something that has “Unique” in it’s stat block (like the rings do in this case) is something you can only equip one of.

I think the main difference is the Free armor skin. For I have the Digital Deluxe edition since April 2012. And the Armor Skin was not included. Maybe that’s what makes some upset. 800 Gem worth Armor Skin given away for free to people who buy the Digital Delux now.

It’s an 800 gem skin to people who buy the game now. It might be included in the in-game store’s upgrade, but it’s also in the basic “Heroic” version.
Sounds like Lithril is referring to the trait “Shadow’s Embrace” from the Shadow Arts line. (IV)

Have you already contacted support about the account compromise?
If so, try updating that ticket with a request for a rollback. Make sure you’ve updated all your passwords, checked for malware, etc, before doing so – they only do it once.
1) If you look, you’ll notice a thread about this already – it has a Red icon in front of it because an Anet member has posted in it.
2) For this kind of think you would want to submit a support ticket (via the link to support at the top of every forum page), normally. However, check out that post I referred to first.
Yeah, the +1 change was noted last time there was a free trial, it’s something the system does and isn’t (generally) anything to worry about.

The thing is, this isn’t a new setup or GOTY edition. It is Digital Deluxe that gives you the items, which we already have, so your logic is flawed.
The Digital Deluxe package is the :

Tome of Influence
If you buy the upgrade in the store, that’s all you get. It hasn’t changed. All that has changed is that the basic game package is now the “Heroic Edition”

Michael — I want to thank you for pointing out those very old threads that refer to “Live Help.” That system hasn’t been available in a very long time, for we found that the wait times and the slowness of issue resolution made the entire concept less than effective. (In fact, I noticed your comments about the very same thing, so I imagine you’ve had negative experiences with other companies and their telephone or chat help.)
Submitting a ticket really is faster and the outcomes are more accurate. I’ve edited the post in which there was mention of “Live Help” so that there is no confusion about the matter.
I am not sure what you’re trying to do:
- If you are upgrading, you simply add the serial code to your existing account and you should be good to go.
- If you are attempting to make a completely new account, register it from the outset with a different e-mail address than the one used on your first account.
- If you are attempting to link a Guild Wars and Guild Wars 2 account, you can do that from the registration interface.
- If you are attempting to link two Guild Wars 2 accounts, that’s not possible.
I really encourage you to contact Support by filing a ticket through the “Ask a Question” tab on that linked page. They will be able to assist you.
For tips on what information to provide in a ticket, please read this post.
If you find you still need help after three days, feel free to post in the Tickets for Review thread, which is at the top of this Account Support sub-forum.
If you search “Live Help” and “Guild Wars 2” it still brings up a page indicating the service is still in use (just offline due to it not being business hours).
I have this very same problem, i bought a total makeover kit yesterday and so far i haven’t received it.
Have you made sure you are not over the game mail limit of 10/10? If your mail is full you won’t get it until you delete some old mail.

There is NO way the median player earned ONLY 3g from the new content in an ENTIRE week.
3g is like 20 minutes of play in DR or CS. You can’t tell me that the median player played less than 20 minutes in either of those places over a week.

In the past day, I’ve earned about a gold, but that’s running my elementalist pretty heavy (which would contribute to not making as much) but even on my 80s I wasn’t making near 9g/hr like you say is normal for Divinity’s Reach.
KRaggy – having been a reader of this forum since GW2 launched, I can tell you that most of the people that have had false positives (and banning/suspensions are done by humans, and humans can make mistakes) 90+% seem to get their case resolved fairly quickly (day or two).

I’m with the OP. I hate how they release content, then nerf it after seeing x-event done in a way THEY didn’t want it done, thus allowing the content locusts to get their big rewards, and the casuals who enjoy the game for the game get left out in the dark.
Whatever happened to good QC, or just the whole “play your way” philosophy? It wasn’t a bug used to farm Deadeye, just good player intelligence against predictable AI. It should have been left alone.
I farmed Deadeye as much as the next guy. But…come on. 20g an hour for no skill? Something simply had to be done.
If it was about farming then they would have nerfed the reward just like subject 7.
WHen you have a situation open to abuse, you can fix it multiple ways – you can (in this instance) change the NPC behavior or nerf the reward. They didn’t want to nerf the reward to nothing (which is what it would apparently have been, especially to those not farming Deadeye) so they changed the fight’s behavior.

I’ve noticed that for some reason, if you purchase a bank (and I’d presume, a bag) slot via the banking interface, it does not show at all on the store records. And some of the GMs (if not all) don’t know that.
Problem is, how do we define an exploit when fighting Queen’s Gauntlet?
Using Blind intelligently is not an exploit, correct?
If using an already existing game mechanic intelligently, and it’s situation isn’t outside any other similar situation, why would you think it’s an exploit?
The issue with the snowflake exploit was people were crafting and then salvaging, and getting back the rare materials in the same or greater amounts regularly. That really doesn’t apply to fighting mobs in the gauntlet.
1a – The only things dying on the arena floor are watchknights – transformed or not.
1b – There is probably a hidden safety net… Like the one that caught the Graysons.
1c – THe pavilion acts as a training ground, improving those who would also be called upon to fight the dragons.
4 – They have safety in the fact that if anyone REALLY comes after them… they can fly away.
5 – The female form to the Knights is to make people underestimate them.

It’s easy to miss now that they are global currency vs being an item you had to store.
I see them as a steampunk nod – which often does have shapely mechanics.
All that you can do that I know of is to watch the server population to catch it going from full to very high. Try checking in the middle of the night. Or wait till they increase the server population caps, which they have done a couple of times already.
