Oh I see thanks… but i still didn’t recieved any answer from GW2 team since 9h ago. Does it takes at least 24h to answer?
GW2 tickets take up to 3 days for a response. You may or may not get a response sooner.
If you don’t get answer in 3 days then post here

The expansion can improve the core experience with gliding and elite specialisations (ie new versions of your profession). The expansion story will make little sense if you have missed previous seasons though. Although I agree the original core story is quite tedious in many parts (it improves a lot from season 2 onwards)
I wouldn’t say you are missing out on the best bits, but (to me) the content is more interesting, more challenging and you can unlock a wider array of options for your toons with the expac.
I don’t recall Nebo always being like that since launch though. I’m sure it broke around about the time of the NPE changes if memory recalls and was never reverted back to how it was.
It didn’t “break”; they deliberately changed it this way around that time. I’m still not sure WHY they changed it to be this much of a pain, but it was definitely deliberate. They even made the event reward a daily bonus chest, like world bosses and other similar events (Fire Shaman).
Ohh I see. I didn’t realise it was deliberate, although it explains why it has been left this way for so long. Perhaps an experiment in group event mechanics or harder events in lower zones.
Didn’t notice the daily chest though, might wander over and have a look.

It was a poorly communicated change, but what is done is done now. The last feedback thread was closed with a definitive reply from the devs.
All i can say is that it took me a week in EOTM to get mine, which is a more than reasonable time frame for me. I found borderlands too slow to gain for me as a non wvwer. Overall I found it a more logical and fun method to gain the gift.
I am on 210% and I personally have seen a very gradual increase in the number of rares and exotics that have dropped from random mobs in open world in line with my increasing MF over the last 2-3 years.
It is all anecdotal though and experiences will vary
It is still a thing yes, but to a lesser extent these days due to the Auric multi loot exploit.
There was zero chance of a huge spoiler like that appearing in the trailer.
2 more weeks and you might get your answer though
Depends on your motivation.:
- Some people might just enjoy the events.
- Earning crowbars through daytime events for rewards from airships salvages
- More events during the day = more mastery xp
- Achievements
We killed Mordremoth fully in the story instances, although repeated killing of the Mouth of Mordremoth (implied as his physical dragon form) is simply a game mechanic you need suspend your disbelief over.
When you play the instance, it specifically mentions the fight outside, so the two fights are simultaneous. Killing the “mouth” is one time since Mordy dies with Trahearne shortly after.
She has had eggs before. We protected one of her hatchlings in GW1.
Perhaps long ago she had secret liaisons with a Shatterer…
Anyone here that thinks they can manage to make a comeback with living story #3 after the expansion flop? (Serious Question)
I kinda lost all my hope and faith in the development of GW2
I wouldn’t call it a flop at all. It made mistakes, but there was a lot of really good stuff in the expansion as well
Thank’s for the heads up. With TSW doing some decent story work in their Living World, it’ll be nice to have GW2 back at it as well since the scope is genreally wider.
Think I just saw a small puff of steam coming out of the hype train…
Would also like to know if we have time on the current events. If it is going away, prob best we know in advance. If they aren’t going away soon, then even better.

Except we are getting hints and teasers. Instead of blogs and write ups, we are getting the open world events as playable teasers. They aren’t passable as in depth content, but they do sow the seeds for what is to come and they do that pretty well, even if the gameplay side is little more than achievement hunting.
I’m not a fan of no hype either, but it’s false to say no teasers have come our way.
There will not be additional rewards. The idea is that 1-30is easy enough for new players to get those skins for, but the titles show a dedicated commitment for veteran/long term players.
If they were going to put in additional rewards. it would have been done 6-7 years ago.
All items eventually return, usually without warning and always for a limited period of time – whether its months, a week or a single day.
Just keep watching the gem store, especially on Tuesdays
I don’t think we’ll see a GW3 – I think GW2 will simply have a long enough life to not require it. And if I am wrong and there is one, it will be 10+ years before we see it. If there is stuff they can’t do with GW2, then I expect they’ll start from scratch rather than redevelop the previous engine. It took them a long time to get GW2 off the ground and even then it wasn’t fully finished (although I;d argue more so than most MMO’s I’ve played from launch)
What would be interesting is if they did one in say 10-15 years time, we’d be getting into more fully steampunk/archaic SF style backdrop for Tyria judging by the way technology is jumping forward so rapidly in game. That would be interest me a lot.
The ones from beta? They lost them.
Im not joking either, that was from a dev response about the mistreaver stuff. I cant remember if they said they will be restored at some point, presumably when found

I stopped playing just before HoT came out because of my school and work schedule and have been trying to keep up with the game’s status and updates. I would like to purchase HoT this weekend to continue where I left off and to eventually try raiding. I keep reading on forums and online that the game is now heavily raid based and returning/new players will have a hard time catching up or even getting into dynamic boss event groups in the expansion because of limited number of players. Is this true? is wvw dead or have things been updated and people are back? I am generally just asking about the game’s population and if i’ll be able to enjoy the expansion with other players or if I will be soloing the whole expansion. This includes dungeons and pve, etc.
The game has 3 wings which have appeared over the past 8 months. ANd that is it. It is not heavily raid based. It’s just a content drought in pve which is about to be recitfied which is causing a lopsided view. Because te raids have had bigger updates than open world, it just seems lopsided – that will change soon.
WvW has been massively rejuvenated by updates to rewards and the return of the original borderlands
You can solo, you can group, but the population is high enough and healthy enough to justify doing any content you see fit in the open world, whether it is HoT or Core. Fractals are also easy to get groups going with, but I don’t know about dungeons. The rewards werre revamped, but I am uncertain if the interest in them was lasting.
Where is his potential hiding place? I am not a raider so I don’t mind a spoiler here. Feel free to put the answer under a black spoiler highlight though.
I would be extremely surprised if the game ever sees new races. They seem clear in the vision not to include them and to be honest I agree. Some of the core races like Norn have suffered by becoming playable in my opinion and I find NPC races far more interesting than when they become playable and lose a lot of their flavour. Largos would never fit as a playable race the way they have developed the game, so if I am wrong about adding races, you might get Tengu since they are the closest fit.
Specialisations. We will get these with the next expac. It is too soon for more imo, although one mid season could in theory address the hero point imbalance – ie we currently have an excess.
A new campaign mode. The idea of Order or Pact related stories would be welcomed by me. I’ve seen it addressed a lot prior to HoT being announced and it would give the Orders desp needed relevance to the game.
I would like less grinding, but the options to less grinding are raid diffiuclty open world content, which rarely works or RNG from drops. They could use collections, but they still require grind or RNG. I’m not sure which option I prefer.
All the signs point to the White Mantle and Mursaat (or at least Lazarus) continuing to be involved in some way, whether as an adjunct to the living story or in part of the raids, so you’ll prob get your wish here.
Right now, my main wishlist is a significant chunk of story. Whilst the quality of writing was better, the direction and and length of HoT’s story baffles me. I cannot possibly understand how an expansion’s story was greenlighted to be a headlong charge through the jungle, bypassing so much interesting stuff. Expansions need to be bolstered by a huge, sweeping story as it’s backbone. They didn’t happen and it hurt the game badly. Season 3 has to address this unequivocably.
Following on from that, LS1 needs to be converted into a S2 style and released. It’s a lot of work, but it is hugely vital to the game. Right now, we have nothing to bridge the PS and LS2 which is confusing and offputting to those who like to play for the story. The longer this remains out of the game, the more damage to the game it does imo. The current cutscene simply doesn’t do anything at all to bridge the gap.
As for blind optimism;
- relevance to underwater again, including new skins and some skill reowrks
- some new maps before the expac
- something else which ive forgotten but will add in when i remember it
The sitting is not a small change. They addressed it within the first year and said it can’t happen now the game is live. That decision had to be made in development and they decided not to.
Living story is due in the coming weeks, we just don’t know precisely when although it is hoped for around the Quarterly patch this month.
It exists as a map for those of us who do like intricate, explorable maps. Yeah it’s tough to navigate, but to me the only real drawback is that it needs more on it. It feels dangerous, it feels like an adventure and some of the masteries involve some cool spelunking through cave systems, but it still needs more events and content in it. Too much emphasis was put on the meta.
I still get lost, but I like having a map I can fight against. It also became a lot easier when I got my Nuhoch Wallows mastery done.
Great design imo
Seems extremely niche to be an emote people would enjoy.
Currently no, but they will return to the gemstore at some point
Try guesting to another server, there’s usually always one open elsewhere (Cathedral). Guest to medium or high lvl servers (try black gate). You’re allowed 2 servers every 24 hours. GAME ON
Megaservers negate the need to do that in pve.
OP, it’s a question of timing. The Cathedral if uncontested meas it is being successfully defended. It’s just a case of constantly checking to find a map or a time when it happens to have been taken back the risen so you can get a group to capture it.
Badges can now convert to Badges of tribute in the Guild Hall. Every 10 = approx 30s. The gift of battle now takes about a week of moderate wvw play using the reward track – no items required, you just play and gain xp
Yes, it was a poorly advertised change, but it isn’t an excessive way of gaining the gift and actually makes more sense than before, and I’m not a person who overly enjoys WvW

There is a merchandising gold mine here just waiting to happen
It was clear that keeping most of Q2 under wraps as a surprise worked. Whilst I am not a fan of no hype, it was evident from the almost unanimous positive outpouring that day, their strategy worked. In some ways that has created its own hype and expectations, since the quality of what they dropped was greater than expected and was in line with what people wanted.
Judging by the silence of the last few weeks from the dev team, I’m guessing they’ve been hard at it with another fairly sizeable patch of surprises alongside LS3.
I very much doubt we will hear about most of what they will drop, but they will almost certainly be hyping the story. They did it with raids using blogs and emails and story has a far higher catchment, so it will bring people to the game – I expect to start hearing previews within the next week or 2.
Whilst I sort of sympathise, to the point that they should communicated the change better (a small line in the patch notes was poor I thought), Legendaries require doing content in all areas of the game.
I’ve been working on Chuka and Chumpwata and so far I have had to;
- pvp for tokens
- WvW for gift of battle over 1-2 weeks, doing a little bit with the EOTM a day
- Fractals up to 25
- At least a third of all the jumping puzzles in the game for the precursor
- Farming mats/gold
I find pvp terrible, WvW I’m not really interested in and JP’s frustrate me. I’m also inexperienced at Fractals (I did enjoy them though) and inefficient at gold/mat farming (I find it a tedious way to play a video game). However, I recognise these things come as part of what is required of a legendary.
Pvpers, WvWes have to do pve, so it all balances out. A Legendary requires diving into all aspects of the game. So whilst they should have brought back the vendor for a limited time only, I actually think the reward track is a decent way to obtain the gift, especially since they improved the xp gain in the tracks post-beta
If you’re not sure hold onto it until you find a dye you really want and cannot imagine being able to afford (or wouldn’t be willing to pay for).
I think I might do that, there’s so many! The super expensive ones are so nice too. I’d best wait.
I’ve held onto a few packs now from toons since I have the same dilemma. I have picked up 1 or 2 from using the dye preview and playing around with the locked colours until I found one perfect for my looks.
Yeah I’ll prob just keep anything that is left over as a momento of doing this. My bank will hate me, but hey ho..
Awesome! Thanks for that
For the devs who worked on this, morale sucking mat accumulation aside, I loved so much of this journey. I think the burden of mats might put me off future ones, however the hunt, the re-tracing steps and now the raising of the cubs has been a welcome change of pace and actually more enjoyable to me than a lot of the open world stuff lately.
Hope to see more of this standard in non-precursor collections one day, workload permitting.

If I finish this collection completely, will I still have access to these? Or do you lose access to them once completed?
As players have pointed out, it wont take months.
- In pve, if you commit to a rush through you will have it done anywhere between a day and a week depending how you play and how quickly you get your masteries done en route
- WvW will be a bit longer, but I managed 15 levels in a week with a booster. Now I’m not a hard core WvWer – I just ran with a EOTM train for a couple of hours a night. Even if you play at my rather poor level, you;’d be done in 2 weeks tops.
2 weeks is excellent time for horizontal progression and that’s not even the quickest time scale it can be done in.
So I wouldn’t worry about it taking months
As far as I was aware, there is no way to display that in place of the mastery number
You mean like the CDIs?
This. Although the CDI’s were a bureaucratic headache, they essentially “collaborated” between devs and community to forge ideas to drive content. From CDI’s essentially came many aspects of HoT such as masteries, challenging content, game mechanics and “I think” it is where reward tracks evolved from (I could be wrong about that, it’s been a while).
I don’t think the CDI’s were my favourite form of collaborative development and they didn’t last very long as an initiative so that perhaps is telling in how both sides ultimately viewed them.
I’m not against collaboration though – there still feels like that wall between dev/community these days. However, I will point out the WvW polls are doing a seemingly fine job of driving development for that game mode. I hope to see more of that across the game modes.
When you open up your achievement panel in game, look for green symbols next to any achievements that reward masteries. You can then use your achievement tracker to help you list what u need to do.
There are some hidden ones too which arent listed in your panel until after completing, so Roses list can help find those
I don’t think anyone ever got the skin before it was fully pulled from the system. That doesn’t mean it won’t necessarily be introduced to the game, but I wouldn’t hold my breath.
I believe on the API forum a couple of weeks back this was confirmed – only a GM/dev ever conjured it up. The below note was added to the wiki afterwards
The Destroyer Scythe finally entered the API on 4/27/16. It was verified that it was spawned by a developer.
Open Community run it daily i believe on EU, with plenty of map chat advertising beforehand across maps and they train all players extensively on the map. They rarely fail.
Plenty of pugs attempt it as well, but i rarely see any success from them. Not surprising since its aimed st organised, coordinated groups.
I have no idea what the NA situation is
My Warriors armour is 3200 and Hp buffs to 37k. I have no doubt it is overkill and likely inefficient, but from a psychological standpoint, it feels wonderful not dying to stuff. I was in a team of 2 in Mai Trin with a zerker warrior. The zerker Warrior obv did most of the damage, but kept getting knocked down, but my Warrior could just rez w/o taking much damage.
Remember though – his dps is pretty much awful. So he stays alive, but it takes an age to kill stuff. It took 45 mins to take down Mordy regardless to the fact he barely took damage. I don’t bother taking him to pvp since he would be dead weight on the team.
I suppliment all this with shield blocks/reflects, interrupts and banner regen as well just to add to the defences.
So it can work, but I generally find toughness requires commitment, since a small amount doesn’t really gain any benefit over dps or the more skill based defences Justine lists
Ah man, I was looking forward to an upside down Lake Gendarr…
Still as shiny as it ever was for me, nothing has changed here. Same with the Tower shield.
My suspicion is either a lighting or it no longer/doesn’t shines on medium or lower gfx settings
I imagine there is a definite reason and a connection between the two since we have similar scenarios in terms of what occurred with overloaded/unstable/excess ley magic.

Can you post a pic of how t looks to you? I’m not seeing it look any different to how it normally always has
How is class balance viability? Are most classes still pigeon-holed into 1-2 specs?
Thanks for the nice response btw
The trait system has been overhauled. There are and always will be metas, but it is arguably more diverse these days outside of raids. We also have elite specs from the expansion which alters your class to play in a different way, giving access to new traits, weapons and utlity skills.
A LOT has has changed and been overhauled since a year after launch including, but not limited to
- Improved wardrobe system
- loot systems
- reward tracks for pvp/wvw
- megaservers to bring populations together
- overhauled bosses including Shatterer, Tequatl, and a highly coordinated Triple Headed Wurm
- Season 1 story (ie the one after personal story) is gone, but we have a second season, an expac story and a 3rd season on the way. These are all permanent additions
- Season 2 brought two new maps – silverwastes and dry top. Those are free access
- The expansion brought 4 new maps accessed only through the expansion
- Guild Halls now exist
- Lions Arch got blown up and restored and looks utterly different
- Collections were added as additional ways to drive content and achievements
- Fractals work slightly different and are more accessible
- We have a lfg tool (press Y)
- Ascended tier now stretches across armour and weapons as well as jelwellry
- Legendary tier exists as weapons (including 4 new ones), armour (via raids and backpacks (via fractals and pvp)
- Dev communication has changed. They now drop large patches every quarter with little communication about them to drive “surprises”. We have small patches in between for open world events, wvw updates and other smaller things. Collaboration is reduced significantly
- We have raids via the expansion – general feedback from the raiders is positive
- We can glide in the open world in all maps as long you as you own the expansion
Severe content drought in 2016 aside, the game is generally in a solid and decent place. It just needs a shot in the arm with pve after what is probably fair to say an disappointingly short story in the expac.

IMMOs are not about making playing be as efficient and quick as possible; they are designed to keep you in the game and playing as long/often as possible. It’s something the player must adjust to, ‘cause the game isn’t going to adjust to the player. This includes taking the time to sell to vendors and/or manage your inventory.
I disagree with this. GW2 generally (not always, but generally) has broken ground since launch by trying to make things more efficient and easier for the player with QoL improvements to avoid situations like this.
Things like deposit items, salvaging on the go, waypoints, fast access to banks, crafting tabs accessing all your storages. These are just some way the game is adjusted for its players, so the players are spared the hassle. It is an important pillar of this game.
Scrapping them entirely like one suggestion earlier would be silly, I have used them and I know plenty who do. I have met swathes of players who don’t even equip rares and exotics and so are still using these at 80. So they are used.
The easiest solution would probably be a tab in the mats storage and then we could dump them later.
The other possibility is to add a function to the TP which acts identical to an NPC vendor. I find the NPC vendor a bit outdated anyway – it makes little sense for a random soldier in the jungle to want my junk. IF the TP had an “NPC vendor” option when we right clicked, it would prob solve the issue outright.
I went through my mats hoard to see if I could fund a collection I was working on. Made 200g from that. Including iron, platinum, certain foods, silk, mithril and jewels. I don’t need them atm and I can always get them back later, so they went.
Elder Wood is a really good source and it is easy to get.
Blooming Passiflora – you can get a minimum of 3 a day not including crits. That’s over 2g for maybe 10mins quick run through Southson. Add in a daily Teq and your dailies and thats another 2g each.
Use laurels to buy t6 mats and sell those
