We were not the final blow to the mursaat, but we killed the majority of them and destroyed their chain of command. The titans played clean up.
I stopped playing new GW1 content after finishing War of Kryta. I’m loosely aware of the Lazarus confrontation later, but was there more Titans Vs Mursaat stuff after the LA Battle?
I should really go back and do the remaining content, but it feels almost too long a gap now.
GvG as a separate game mode will not happen – the devs have stated they have 3 game modes and that is enough work for them. There are alternative options as listed above though.
Yeah we saw this yesterday – it’s a nice touch and quite unique as well. I haven’t played another MMO which does this directly in game. With the other decorations available, I’m sure players will make some exceptional monuments or memorials.
This is one upgrade I hope to never use for its intended purpose mind you!
GW1 players had the “Gift of True Sight” from Ascension (I think) allowing us to see through their invisibility. After the Battle of Lions Arch in GW1, I don’t think any were left after they attacked and were fended off (except Lazarus)
The only issue with Lazarus was his voice over for me. Didn’t quite gel with how he was presented. Otherwise everything seem to fit. It was a pleasant surprise to see him so soon.
Adding Primordus was excellent storytelling. Finally we are getting past this style of poor fantasy writing where everything gets dragged out unnecessarily. Good fantasy works better usually (Tolkien aside) when it just gets a move on. The episode built well to the final 2 reveals and unlike old seasons, we didn’t have to wait a season or 2 for any progress.
It makes absolute sense for at least one Elder Dragon to take notice of this magical activity. If diverting a leyline right to Mordremoth can wake him fully, then an exploding bloodstone is going to very quickly draw the attention of another.
The quality was very high through this epsisode. A few minor issues for me, like the sudden transition from Rata Novus to Bloodstone Fen, but nothing to bring the episode down. I take on board comments about its length though. I am OK with it, but after 9 months, perhaps they should have begun with a double length “pilot” episode.
Excellent story. Really enjoyed every bit of it. The pacing was much better – got to the meat of it w/o dragging it out which was a major issue in LS1 and LS2. I feel like we progressed as much in one episode as we did in half a season. If I was to nitpick, I felt the transition from Rata Novus to the new map was too sudden. Would have preferred a small interlude where we met up to get to the airship.
Did not expect the 2 reveals at the end to come so soon. Again, nice to see we are telling stories better here. Fantasy like GW2 works so much better with strong story across a shorter space than the Game of Thrones approach, which I find horrifically tedious.
Map was excellent and a real surprise. Didn’t expect a map, especially such a stunning looking one. A map which tells it’s own story much better than a lot of others.
The delivery of the lore via NPC’s and scarps of journals worked really well. Was a good bridge to the lore of the raid and to GW1 as well. Built up the background story a lot.
If I was to criticise;
- Does the map have long term staying power? The mobs have quite a bit of health and some of the events are quite tough to be a success. The mechanics are all fine, but once we drift away, will it be completable by small map populations? Right now, it is fine though
- Lazarus did not sound right with his voice over. It just felt delivered wrong
- The mastery was completed far too quickly. It either needed way more xp or more points (prob the former). The fact that it was completed in under an hour for me makes me wonder why it was even put in.
- Lack of new music for the map. Thought re-using Verdant Brink was a bit lazy and it didn’t fit the atmosphere of the zone. GW2 sound artists are excellent, they needed to be able to craft their magic here
Overall, a strong content and story patch which went above my expectations. I was expecting perhaps S2 episode quality but a bit longer. I was pleasantly surprised to find something better.
Have no opinion on balances. A few % nerfs to skills/traits is largely inconsequential to my gameplay style.
Haven’t really explored the QoL stuff – the patch notes page is a bit too much to read off a screen to me, so I’m sure I’ll discover it all as time goes on.

There was a major issue – as far as I could tell shortly after the second patch, everything went down for a couple of hours. We were all affected
If you still can’t get in since the recent fix, check the support subforum as suggested
What we mean is, what are they replying to in unison about what is “hard”? Reddit is hugely messy and difficult to read I find – I gave up trying to follow any of the actual conversation on there.
Any context to go with that?
The Bloodstone exploding knocked out the servers too.
Either that or we know where those pesky treasure skritt vanish to when not caught…
There is a tweet on https://twitter.com/GuildWars2?ref_src=twsrc%5Egoogle%7Ctwcamp%5Eserp%7Ctwgr%5Eauthor saying they’ll let us know when it’s live, so you could open that site and refresh it now and then.
Me, I’m in game gathering mats for my guild hall and waiting for the “new build” yellow text
Send me some whilst you are at it – I have a WvW 2 upgrade to finish
Any updates on patch?
If you are waiting on an announcement as to what time it will be, there wont be one.
However, the patch notes go up at the same time the patch hits, so checking he release notes page is your best bet. They may also put something on the GW2 homepage
I did it a few times yesterday – once flawlessly too. They key is numbers. Less is good. It seems to be a problem with the scaling. Most of my successful runs now come late at night or low pop maps during the day.
I’m not certain about a new zone or at least one with todays patch. Perhaps a fleshing out of Dragons Stand which I think isn’t complete yet.
Don’t try to glide at home, though.
Now you tell me!!
Me. Some of their stuff since Soule left has been exceptional. In fact I probably enjoy the newer stuff above a lot of the launch music to be honest – GW1 music brought over excepted.
Rata Novus, Silverwastes Auric background, Tarir Meta are amongst the best for me, with honourable mentions to the destroyed LA music and the Breachmaker stuff.
Perhaps he was a Mork and Mindy fan since I think that was where the word came from
Actually, if memory serves me correctly, Mork only used Shazbot as a swear word. Clearly an oversight that the kitten filter isn’t picking up words from the Planet Ork ;D

I mean you bought hot…..and im assuming s1 was the hot story itself? is that correct?
Seasons are stories bridging major releases like Launch and expacs. They are not the actual stories from HoT or the Personal Story.
S1 took place a couple of months after launch, set after the Personal Story against Zhaitan and ran for just over a year, incorporating all the festivals as well. Sadly S1 is gone with no sign of a return or a direction from management indicating they will make a version compatible with the current game (it could not exist as a straight re-release)
S2 is a series of episodes which is largely the same structure as HoT. It furthers the fall out from S1 and sets up HoT.
S3 will follow the story from HoT
Where before I had my doubts about you simply desiring equality and representation for minorities in Tyria, you’ve now made it clear that you’re trolling.
Besides that, please stop using the lore sub-forum for these posts.
This has nothing to do with lore.
It was in general. I am guessing a mod moved it here after complaints of where it was before.
- Yes DS is more accessible now. You still need leyline gliding or a helpful mesmer though
- So in terms of loot that can be broken down into 2 things
1) rare exclsuive skins (HoT introduced dozens)
2) Things to sell like ectos, jewels, and mats from salavaging. I just got 16 ectos from one Tarir run. That can be sold for other things I want, added to Guild Hall for buildings or used in crafting (they were helping to fund the last part of my legendary, now they are building a major Guild Hall upgrade) – eventually I will use them to craft some skins in some of the weapon collections)
You wont necs be more powerful, ut you might find a way to obtain things to change your look – a major part of what GW2 is all about.
- mastery points. Completionists like me and many others get them regardless as to whether they are needed or not. Plus they will likely be useful if they add more masteries in LS3.
- Elite spec. Players like myself have every profession. I have elites on most, but only half are 100% and have gained the ascended specifc weapon and the exclusive armour piece. That means I run different professions through HoT when I want variety.
- Adventures. They are the mini games like Tendril Torches in Verdant Brink, Auric and Tangled Depth. They usually have a flag next to them. They are an attempt to bring a competitive edge to the pve open world, which didn’t seem to work. Some are fun, some are dreadful.
- Legendaries are just one item people make. Players make things like skins, ascended, Guild Hall buildings and decorations. Or they farm mats to sell to fund other things. There are huge number of collections and achievements in this game, some of which are easier with gold to hand. Ascended is also easier to make if you have the gold to do so. Maybe you want a mini from the TP or a vendor. Or maybe you want gold to make gems to buy in the online store. The options are huge.
- Achievements/collections. For many, this is an endgame pursuit if you like. Whther it is the achievement point leaderboard, an OCD affection for completionism or whether you find them just plain fun. Some even reward useful things like ascended armour and weapons (Leystone Armour collection for example). Achievement points also reward laurels, gold, skins and gems at various intervals, which you can monitor in your achievement panel

These are the following things you can do. Like most people you have spoken to, I found my masteries flew past doing these things. By focussing on just the masteries as a means to an end, it will always feel like a grind.
- Exploring/map completion
- Meta events – Auric esp gives massive amounts of loot
- Achievements/collections
- Mastery points. This falls under exploration and achievements
- Story
- Adventures. OK they are a bit naff, but they give mastery points and AP as well as xp
- Going for your elite specialisation
- All round general messing playing with no aim
- Farming for mats
- Raids
- Repeating the above on alts
Doing all things as a mix will level your masteries in no time because you are occupied enough in other things.
The thing about GW2 is that there isn’t a defined end game like other MMO’s and that’s a big plus for so many people – it gives them the freedom just to go off and do anything or just mess around and in some way or another, feel like they are progressing or be rewarded for their time.
That is a bunch of you know what, about how hard it would be especially on the armor the design is already there just a few tweaks and its ready for GW2. The dye channels for Weapons is an easy fix also make it so you can only dye it one color at a time, nothing fancy. I say its easy because I believe in the talent they have not that doing it is the easiest to accomplish.
And stop making excuses for them what we ask for is not impossible to do in this game. That’s why we have things like Super Adventure box, Living world etc. I understand that armor takes time, but if the template is there should not be a problem adjusting to GW2 design. In fact they should welcome that idea more than half the work is done.
Also I do not live on the forums like you do. I see something that interests me and I read it about half have your name in it somewhere. So I would not always see other threads asking about them, since I usually only look at the first page or two of each forum.
The weapon dyeing was answered on Reddit a while ago iirc. It can be done, but would require an enormous amount of work for very little gain. For this to be feasible, it would have to have been incorporated into the weapon’s design prior to launch and they choose not to do so.
They said, although it probably could be done at great time and cost, it would it would produce a patch of “non-trivial” size.
The GW2 engine and coding has been stated to be a lot more complicated than a lot of people are aware of. It’s something I have seen with MMO’s before – even seemingly easy things are a nightmare. I remember Anarchy Online delayed a balance patch for years due to how much effort the re-coding became. Same with their new gfx engine which is rapidly approaching 10 years in development..
I was reading in the lore forums yesterday how they couldn’t send out 40 different types of letters to your character informing them of the dungeon due to budget restraints on wording/localisation/translation etc. And that’s just text. OK it isn’t coding directly, but it shows how even simple things aren’t easy.
It isn’t a case of dampening the validity of your feedback, it’s more a case of ensuring ppl realise things are never as “easy”, “quick” or “simple” to implement as it seems.
Those three companies I think have larger budgets for making trailers with. I agree the ls3 trailer and in the same way the ls1 roundups, were unremarkable and not enough was done to promote interest, but they will have smaller and tighter budgets for these than bioware or square enix will have.
Having said that, I enjoyed both the HoT announcement trailer and also the launch one, so they are quite capable of making decent trailers
Indeed. What is the universal difference between 4 and 5 star? That will vary person to person depending on their expectations and criteria.
How will a survey be added that wont feel immersion breaking? Adding it into a game like that would feel out of place and prob annoy a lot of players, esp lore enthusiasts or rpgers.
A star rating wont say what was right or wrong. Only constructive feedback can do that. Forums, reddit, iced writing on a cake are your platforms for that and are much more useful to the devs than a star rating.
Esp the cake…
Just used one of those potions and it did not advance the track or grant any WvW experience.
It 100% does, since it gave me enough reward track points to get a chest when I did it earlier
I don’t particularly like WvW either. Or pvp in any form. I do however agree that Legendaries should involve activities in all or most areas of the game, including pvp and WvW as well as dungeons/fractals.
If anything, I think things are too lopsided in favour of us pvers – we have much less to do in wvw or pvp compared to the work wvwers and pvpers have to dedicate themselves to in pve.
As someone who has (almost) finished Chupa and Champawat – which requires considerably more mats and activities than some of the other legendaries, all I can advise is that the reward track really doesn’t take too much time or grind. An hour here and there in EOTM + dailies and you’ll be done within a week using boosters.
Legendaries are made for the following reasons
- the skins – prob the primary reason
- the prestige (to a much lesser extent these days)/achievements
- as a goal within itself – for most they still take a long time to make and involve many different aspects of the game. That gives a great sense of purpose to the making of one.
- stat changes. You might not find it useful, I might not find it useful, but plenty find it essential. This has been demonstrated by the calls for legendary armour (specifying the need for stat changing on armour when we have no armour locker) and by the mystic forge process of changing stats on ascended. To many, this is a big deal.
One, some or all of those reasons are enough for those pursuing a legendary. In GW2, they should not nor ever, have more straight power than ascended. They broke that pillar of design once, doing it again would be disastrous for a game attracting all those players who do not want a gear grind.
The problem would then occur if you want to visit that map and you aren’t there for the meta. People cant be forced to queue or shut out because or do achievements just because a meta is on.
Yes, you could argue those players could wait until after the meta, but that’s bad game design to lock players out due to one factor.
The system needs an overhaul somewhere and they are making adjustments to the system as a long term project as stated at the turn of the year, but I’m not sure the queuing system irons out the problem w/o creating all new ones.
I suspect it’s more of a spoiler control thing. We’ve seen many instances of too early leaks from the media or too much comms come from media sources rather than Anet themselves. This could just be a way to control the output until after the weekend and minimise how much is being discussed before any surprise reveals on Tuesday.
Thanks I’ll try that. Haven’t seen any posts about it. Tried just doing the forum search for ‘50%’ and ‘50% off’ to see what was out there but didn’t find much.
The search doesnt work and hasnt done for years.
I would love for them to add a way to convert the various HoT currencies into Mordrem Blooms so that I can continue to acquire the items from the priory researchers.
Consider this suggestion made ANet…
That could work. Or remove the bloom currency and convert to having x number of each for an item.
Right now we have an icon on the map advertising a vendor who only accepts a dead currency for an event shut down after a couple of days
If anet just included a simple trading window like in GW1 (both players put down items and lock in, both confirm, trade goes through) this wouldn’t be an issue.
Scams in GW1 were commonplace. Danikats post above yours goes into the detail.
I start with a bank clearout. Amazing how much gold can be gained from clearing out the mats not needed for a legendary. Then I use that as springboard to fund bits for whichever legendary I’m working on – usually starting with the coins for clovers, since the byproduct is often much needed t6 mats.
I also find if I hope for for t6 mats in the forge I get mystic coins and if I hope for coins, I get other mats…
That last method is perhaps less scientific though
Im not sure I understand your proposal here. Uncoupling two thirds of an elite spec would render having an elite spec and all the work invested into it, almost pointless.
Even if they did, many of the weapons and utlities rely on the traitline to be worthwhile using. Why uncouple them and degrade their effectiveness?
Fairly certain that diver is White Mantle…
Well, you don’t have to keep Chak Eggs and Reclaimed Metal Plates on you. As long as you have them somewhere on your account, you’re good to go. I see your point though but I personally don’t play a lot of the maps all the time unless I need something. I do have shared slots but that’s my preference and it does make things easier for my play style. But before shared slots, I only played certain characters on certain maps (again my play style choice). Maybe one day we’ll get a cool “key ring” since this has been mentioned a couple of times. =]
Well reclaimed plates do not work across characters for me. They only show what I am carrying. I dont carry in the bank, so no idea if that shows up.
Oh ok. Well that is probably why as I put mine in my bank. Maybe give that a try if you have the space to spare. Doesn’t solve the other issue but helps a bit.
I will actually give that a try if it works. I’m always just one short when I go to DS..
It’s been my impression that the raid story would be supplementary, but not required to understand it. I’m guessing the raid story will end up being a sort of prologue, or related side-story, but not something I’ll need to follow LS3, anymore than I needed to read the Ghosts of Ascalon novel to understand the current situation in Ascalon and Ebonhawke.
No need to panic about it until next week, when we see for sure what we’re missing. It can’t be anything more egregious than Mordemoth’s name coming out of nowhere.
I’ve always seen the Raid story as equivalent to what the dungeon stories were for the personal story. Extra information that helps fill in some gaps in background lore but overall you don’t need any of it to get the entirety of the personal story and understand what is going on.
This.
What they are doing seems perfect sense to me and a perfectly logical way to build a story across multiple platforms – all in game.

Why is Queen’s Gauntlet around the corner? There have been no such mentions about its imminent return
Why would Sylvari or Mordrem not be alive? We have already seen killing an Elder Dragon does not kill its minions – this is explicity explained post-Zhaitan being destroyed.
There was no logical expectation for Sylvari or Mordrem to do the same.
What prevented Mordremoth jumping from Trahearne to another host is unknown – someone more knowledgeable may be able to clear that up
Aha thanks for that. Not sure our little Guild will get so many trophies, but something to aspire to!
Check the NPC in the Black Lion place who previews all hair style options regardless of kit.
Afaik, no one would have access to something not in game
I find VB has an abundant supply of ore, wood and even more so – plants.
Also, as Vayne says, the Guild Hall counts (same way the Home Instance in the relevant area also counts)
Do the Guild Hall Statues increase in size with each tier or is it just a colour change?
The bronze ones feel a tad on the small size
Wrong cries for you, right cries for others.
Again, I’m not sure the technical limitations would allow them to send a mail that would hold that much text.
It is a no win situation. There were huge cries to put them in game last time and that’s prob why they stopped doing them. There have been since a small number of posts requesting their return.
Frankly I’m pas the point of caring either way. We’re so starved of story and associated content (thankfully coming to an end), I’ll take them mailing stories by pigeon direct to my house at this point…
I will say these are vastly better quality story blogs than the Scarlet/Marjory ones were
Fractals doesn’t necs need full focus. I have been dipping into 1-2 a day to keep me going arou d other projects
If it is any consolation, my new upgraded router and fibre optic connection does exactly the same. It’s annoying – a brief almost unnoticeable blip kicking me off.
Joys of the interweb!
Work on the assumption of no. The event that gave them was an utter disaster at the time and the mordrem arc is largely done now, so the tokens prob wouldn’t make sense.
As Cedo says, there are a fairly large chunk of currencies that can not be re-earned again over the last few years, so it will prob be just added to the dead weight of those.
They have specifically stated in the past they would not rectify such a situation. They may punish the offending scammer, but any loss is yours to bear.
