Is everyone who likes the game a “white knight”?
Yes, but it means we will get early access to mounts
To the OP, yes it it is still fun. There are fresh new challenges and difficulties in open world and now with raids too. HoT raised the bar for open world difficulty, which has had a mixed reaction.
The community is still very good and collaborative, but mindful with raids. You can hit a brick wall there with teams want pinging of specific items/gear/title. It’s sadly gone against what Anet built their game round, but that’s just how it is. On the flipside, generally everyone says the raids are really good.
SHatterer has been reworked. He’s not quite Tequatl/Wurm, but he’s a vast improvement and does fail from time to time.
Many HoT meta bosses require coordination as well and can fail without numbers and organisation.
A lot of mistakes have been made (largely around the story), but generally apart from a large content drought, things are pretty good. I still find things to do everyday so it can’t be too bad.

Don’t you just LOVE Google translate lol
The take home from it seems to be – only 3 LS releases a year new pvp maps and they are really proud of their esports you guys!
Yes, its terrible news if true. I dont want higher quality content but more quantity of content.
Its not unreasonable to want both. But, yes we do need a big drop of pve content, so hopefully chapter one will be substantial.
Lets also bear in mind until Anet comments, none of this can be considered accurate information
Why didn’t we get notified about such a big change?? An in-game mail would be more than welcome. I’m pretty mad about the lack of communication.
I have about 3k of those badges. What should I do now with them?
Convert them into Badges of Tribute at your Guild Hall and make quite a bit of money.
They did notify us, but they haven’t got a handle on how to communicate what changes to us properly at the moment. Things like the polls and subsequent in game mails have been a really good example of how they are getting it right, however this GoB change was communicated via a footnote in a patch notes a while ago and also discussed on the forums.
This doesn’t help anyone who misses the finer details on patch notes or who doesn’t read the wvw forums. In this case, the WvW forums are probably visited by a decent proportion of the WvW community, however the GoB affects non WvWers as well, so keeping the info there doesn’t ensure this change reaches the right catchment.
Given they don’t want to invalidate the GoB reward track (and I am in favour of the track), there are workarounds;
- reinstate the vendor for a very short time so people can get their gifts. And tell people properly
- reinstate the vendor permanently and increase the gift to maybe 1000 badges or more. That would keep it more on par with the time investment of the track without invalidating it fully, especially if they juiced up the reward track with a couple of extra things.
True, but we fought Mursaat across different areas of the map including the Shiverpeaks. Whilst there is no obvious link for the White Mantle or maybe Lazarus to have headed even further North, after 250 years it is possible something is there that could aid them in their schemes.
Or it could just be a teaser. There to suggest thats where we are going without it linking to anything.
Or just keeping the fires of speculation going. With the Dragon on the HoT page suggesting Bubbles and Rytlock suggesting Kralkatorrik next, they might just be benignly stoking the speculation whilst we wait for story progression.
Nobody knows. I suspect nothing more than a token presence
Did you get it then fight the legendary bandit? I think it gets consumed when you defeat him
No it stays, or at least it did for me.
Would you mind terribly checking if that’s the trinket the legend drops? Or the actual mark.
My mark became the trinket after a kill
Contact support and explain that you just bought gems and jus missed the sale. They did it for me once and for others – they are usually pretty understanding if its literally just passed the deadline.
They will hopefully give you the glider, but they might give a refund instead
Aww, I’d never seen it before, thought it might be a prelude to something cool.
Thanks for the info!
I found a “nearby event” in Rurikton, but whatever it is, I can’t see an obvious access point. I tried gliding onto the roof and looking for a door into the building, but there wasn’t one.
A bug? A phantom event? Something obvious I’ve overlooked?
I am a skim reader online – I cannot fully focus or concentrate on text on a monitor and frequently make reading mistakes.
Luckily, this poll I found absolutely clear and easy to understand which way to vote. I can’t in my mind, see any reason for anyone to get confused based on the way it is phrased throughout
Agreed with Rose. He can be tricky, but when a group pulls together and plays against the mechanics (stealth mastery, cc breakbar), then he goes down pretty smoothly
Yeah Hobbs should re-sell the recipe.
This I found out after I uploaded a hunter recipe to my articifer/tailor and bought a trading licence and levelled him to become a second hunter.
Whoops!
I’d say the current look doesn’t work for those races. It would look better as the male version.
Strange, because I’m sure I’ve sold my soul to the BLC many times…
Come to think of it, Gnashblade even has horns…
hmm…devil you say…
We could then see LA Constructs, where all the lobsters and marine buildings etc come alive to defend the city, since that seems to be the new White Mantle thing.
I can dig that
Wild Eye Miller is right about a lot of things
You’ll see…
I won a player driven hide and seek riddle game in LA.
Back then 1g meant something…
Better White Mantle, than Cowardly Furball
It isnt anything unexpected. Lazarus escaped in GW1 prophesing his return and some doom of Kryta. It was only a matter of time before he returned to the franchise in some way. Speculation off his involvement with the raid has been well documented.
We killed hundreds of Mursaat in GW1, he’s welcome to return for another kicking
Sounds like the Lazarus speculation was way off?
I will say there was a warning – an in game mail went out with an item that warned Executioners could attack during a bounty.
We just didnt know it was a legendary. I can see that being an issue for a small group, however, I thought this was a rather cool addition that actually made the situation feel dangerous. So far these bandits didnt feel very threatening. This upped it
As someone in a guild with 2-4 active players left, it would be unfair to outrightly say upgrades are too expensive, since they are designed to spread contributions across a wider membership.
I would say there is a discrepancy between upgrades though. We are level 20, with large amounts of the upgrades built by 1-2 of us, but some upgrades of the same tier are vastlt more expensive.
For example Tavern 2 is monstrously more expensive than Arena 2, which was largely straightforward and offers more direct useage.
They are designed to be mat sinks at the end of the day, its just that they dont always give a return for their investment
This isn’t so much as a bump, more adding to Astrals post that the phoenix glider is in store for just 2 days during this window.
There will be many who will miss it, but worth getting the message out there since it was a highly requested skin
That leads to the common complaint that it feels bad to buy Black Lion chests for gems, because it seems as if they’re full of things that you could have bought more cheaply by converting your gems to gold instead. It’s not our goal to make you feel like a chump for buying chests. After all, by buying chests, you’re supporting the creation of the content that everyone plays. So it’s nice for there to be account-bound things in the chests in addition to the other tradeable items.
I’m not sure how this is improving that situation. There are huge issues with the chests, whether it is skins players want not being available anymore or keys being often problematic to get. However, the biggest issue is how tiresomely low the rng on tickets and scraps are
If this is a precedent to repeat this exercise and hopefully you will read into your community feedback and not do this again, then at least improve the rates of gain. Even getting 1 ticket is pretty difficult. I have never once seen a ticket and barely scraped maybe 2-3 from scraps over the years.
Exclusivity and feeling of a valued possession does not come from rng boxes. It comes from things like beating your raid content or effort in making a legendary from scratch via the collections etc.
Making them tradeable at least gave players a feeling they could collect those skins via the tp at their pace and leisure and finish those collections. It was an aim which has partly been taken away on this set in a game which really isn’t set up for that kind of thinking.
It doesnt answer the question of why these are more exclusive or special than any orher set or why it was once changed for being against we wamted and yet is now deemed appropriate.
The obtaining of these skins was not in a great place, but I am not seeing how this instance improves the ongoing problem, especially as they have no reason to be different to any other bl skin. Unless ofc we finally have underwater skins in the selection?
Added Amalgamated Gemstones as a choice on the Verdant Brink, Auric Basin, Tangled Depths, and Dragon’s Stand Hero’s Choice Chests.
Since there’s a fair amount of initial negativity about the patch, I thought I’d highlight this as a positive small change
Brother Gilbirt, those badges can be converted to badges of tribute which are highly valuble on the tp.
Where i can do it please?
Your guild halls wvw vendor if you have one
Im not against the change, but I also missed the comms on this one.
I am not overly concerned about that, but I agree this is where communication needs improving going forward. If they can mail players about wvw polls in game, this could have been added as well
This would make sense if keys and tickets were easier to obtain, but neither are at a ywhere close to an acceptable level for this to be a positive decision.
We need better key drop rates, all the skins returned and tickets/scraps at an improved chance before going down this route if at all
Imo every chest should have a guaranteed ticket scrap, that way you still need to buy 10 keys to get a ticket so anet still makes money, but you also get a guaranteed ticket.
I agree

I suggest anyone against this, not purchase the skin or keys in protest. Perhaps showing the team we find this unacceptable in this way, such decisions will be rethought

You can compare a gemstore skin with a precursor, but not a gemstore skin with a precursor collection.
There are so many aspects to these including new items, events, tying things to npcs, making sure events and collections connect, new crafting recipes, bug testing, new npc dialogues etc etc etc. All requires work and potentially cross dept.
Look at the shortbow. The first collection is a full new quest across tyria, interacting with many old npcs, with new dialogues. Plus storytelling and adding in the Tigers, their footprints, their prey, their ghosts. That probably took up a lot of time for a small team, all the while having to do a dozen more weapons.
I am disappointed these are delayed, but I can see why and I can absolutely see why the separate gemstore team can churn out more frequent releases. Not to mention, the gemstore will generate far more revenue for development than legendaries will.
I like the idea, although as long as there was a cap on additional waypoints. Having one placeable above the city would be pretty cool if a Guild made the effort to get up there.
I also like your forest. Are there any wider screenshot of it? Bet that took time and effort to make
I’ve seen your first suggestion in Xenoblade X. It was interesting there, however, I’m failing to see how either suggestion would be beneficial to a wider community in an open play MMO like this.
What purpose would such a zone serve in terms of connecting it to the story/world and how would it maintain a populated/sustainable presence?
Auric will net you dozens of rares. By far my best place when I need to restock ectos quickly
Elonian leather is also required at the end of collection 1 of each precursor crafting
Who won?
Watch out for deer in core tyria. They are king in the wild…
I think salvaged mats were nerfed some time round HoT, which has hurt mats without nodes, but are in high demand. Leather seemingly most affected.
Heart of Thorns brought the difficulty level up with both open world and the introduction of raids.
I haven;t raided, but my understanding is the raid community appear to be happy with the difficulty level and where it is at.
Open World will garner mixed responses. Many will say it’s unplayable, many will say it’s much improved.
The truth is, you can’t simply run through, spamming 1 anymore. There is a learning curve from the core content and it has caught some players out. Mobs have a greater range of attacks and maneuvers and can hit a lot harder, so knowing your skills and the various ways to mitigate damage are what make the maps playable.
The story instances aren’t quite as tough as open World but since the start of Season 2, they are (in my opinion) vastly improved in terms of gameplay, mechanics and balance of difficulty compared to a hugely lacklustre personal story, which never made any attempt to challenge the player.
tdlr the difficulty bar has been raised, but opnion varies as to by how much
Leather in general is more sought after for:
- Ascended (raid requirements)
- Guild Halls (hardened and thick in enormous amounts)
- Scribing
- Precursor crafting. Some collections require leather for certain items
Once GW2 gets back to a regular content production, things will look different. Raids will help, but they only offer small spike as they appeal to a smaller group. I imagine the new direction WvW has started heading in has given a boost to that section as well and that is good, because that appears to be one of the largest areas of loyal players.
A lot will hinge in LS3 and the way pve will proceed after. Whatever opinions players had on LS1, it did generate content and interest via social media outlets. HoT was too short in terms of story and number of maps to sustain a wide interest for this long a drought and that really hasn’t helped.
Whilst Qtr 2 update was mostly features, it did show a willingness to throw down as much as possible in these big updates and that is a good foundation to set coming up to Qtr 3.
Also, in this day and age, attention spans are both shorter and more easily dragged away by something new, so a population drop is not really anything surprising or worrying at this stage,
As I said in the last thread about this, just pm me anytime as I still need to do this.
EU based
I use shield on my warrior. It’s very effective.
What I find slightly odd, is thet the rare minis are 1 ticket and the common minis need 5..
Some bits of the theme would certainly fit DS better or VB canopy maybe. Or perhaps a revamped boss meta.
Hopefully LS1 will get added and it will be a part of that in some way.
Or alternatively they could add it to the Guild Hall playlist, then you play what you like when you like whilst up there.
But Lament of Lion’s Arch fits…
It has a more majestic overtune which fits better. It also works in memorial for those who fell during the battle. So whilst it doesn’t connect directly with the current theme, it still works.
Breachmaker is fighting music. There are no battles in LA right now.
It’s a decent enough piece, but it would be utterly out of place in Lions Arch.
I believe there is a way to make your own sound cloud to listen to whatever GW2 tracks you wish in game anyway, so if you want to listen to it you can.
I’m not against it being on a loop in game, but not in LA. It doesn’t fit the current ambience.
I will shout out what an amazing job the sound crew have done in creating new music post-launch/Jeremy Soule. Some of the later tracks have been the best the game has and the music team are one of the development team’s biggest strengths’
(edited by Randulf.7614)
Did many Seraph, besides Logan, go into the actual jungle?
Meh, I got hit by over 2 million damage from the Axe master. :P
I believe there is a small chance an amalgamated gemstone will crit from forging for a crest
