The rewards per level were a very nice addition I thought. They added some meaning to levelling which never existed first time round.
I understand your concerns over the “on rails” comment though.
Rewards per level where nice, but why remove the biggest rewards per level than? Aka Skill points and Traits…
Those are the biggest rewards for any character because they not bound by level. Gear rewards get out leveled. Traits and skill points don’t, since they stay with your character through it all.
Now we have to wait all the way to max level just to play how we wanted.
I leveled my Warrior to play a shout healer back pre NPE. I eventually spread to other builds. But I never would have been motivated to do all that grinding of levels had I not been able to play how I wanted before reaching the max level.
The new trait system is horrible now because of this.
Skill points are still unlocked though? At least they did on my new toon?

I kind of agree with the general vibe of this page. I do love the moot, and when it got the footsteps I was even more in love with it. However, I hate the quip and dreamer, just confetti and colors, it’s kind of dumb, and while I think the greatswords are neat, they have their pitfalls too. I think my bottom line is, I’m ok with extravagent, but still not overdoing it. I think predator, juggernaut, incinerator, kudzu, bolt, those are the right amount of effect.
Also, I would have preferred legendaries be account bound, as they really don’t have meaning of being rare anymore. Honestly I think the staff Delusion is far more uncommon than bifrost.
Whats your opinion on The Moot since they gave it confetti and colours last patch, out of curiosity?
Ive heard from other players that supposedly, NPE is being re-done, so we don’t need to hunt down our traits any more, but I can’t find it written down anywhere.
Is this true?
I haven’t done it myself, because all my characters pre-date the update except for one, but im dreading having the level that character up, along with the Revenant, after hearing all these horror stories about NPE, and looking at some of the tasks and price tags on traits, it seems a bit over-the-top, so I wouldn’t mind it being revamped.
A lot of the horror stories are over dramatised by a considerable way. It has bad points of course, but they also put in some good things as well. I’m not saying it doesn’t have issues, but it’s certainly nothing to be too worried over.
As for traits, yes that is being re-done. I liked the idea it tried to implement and would have had no qualms if the game launched with this system, but as it is, its just a step backwards from a system which essentially worked just fine as it was.
Will be interesting if we get any festivals at all. If expac starts immediately where the LS ended, there’s no time lag for a festival to fit into the in game timeline. They may add it in anyway, but it wouldn’t surprise me if we don’t see any.
I agree. I’m not a fan of the new Moot effects for eg – it lost a certain amount of stylishness when the ribbons and rainbow glows were added (I genuinely hope they change it back since it no longer fits the style I spent 2 years tweaking as selfish as I know that is and wasn’t asked for either).
I’m all for diversity and gimmicky ones should exist, but more serious themed ones are def needed. Flameseeker Prophecies and Incinerator got the balance right imo

I think that’s what elites were meant to be. I think there is certainly some scope for improved champ and elite ai/skills, but they have shown they are working on that with Dry Top and Silverwastes. I can’t see “vanilla GW2” ever getting that treatment since they don’t want to scare off new players who are levelling.
The new expansion will bring challenging content, but it is a tricky thing to balance. Not everyone wants it and people will always dispute what is hard and what isn’t – the S2 story has shown that. Many want it harder, many want it nerfed.
The season 2 ones are specific – ie can only be obtained from the achievements and have specific stats (I believe they are Sinister combo?).
They are pretty tough to get as intended, although that depends on your skill and also whether you can find people to team up with (which makes it easier for some achievements).
If you want a non-specific stat combo of ascended trinkets, I’d say the laurel vendor or fractals will be easier. Obviously if you want Sinister stats, then going the achievement route is your way forward.
It’s ALWAYS been cartoony and a “novelty” item. The thing is a discoball with men wearing top hats spinning around it, and it leaves dance floor light footprints. I do not see how adding colorful lens flares and more color makes it MORE cartoony.
I know what you are saying, but it wasn’t quite as OTT as it is now – especially as it covers much of the landscape reflections up. The balance was right before in my opinion. Altho the footprints I was always on the fence about as well.
What are other Moot users thinking about the updated Moot special effects? I only noticed it today, but the effects seem a little too over the top now and not really fitting the weapon. I know it’s very much one of the “novelty” legendary weapons, but it was done pretty well before and now it looks a lot more cartoony with the rainbows and streamers.
It’s a bit of a shame they have to keep messing around with it when other legendaries desp need some extra love, but at least it shows disco is never dead!
Anyone else liking or disliking it? Keep it civil please
Colin ruled out a new race for now in an interview with Eurogamer, citing it wouldnt add enough from a gameplay perspective at this time. They are concentrating on newer and more challenging content and developing the professions at this time.
An expansion with Primordus would seem more fitting, altho im not convinced we will ever see a new race added considering the resource investment involved versus potential gains.
Time will tell!
Nobody knows until they start releasing info on the main page. I think that starts from the 13th. They wont release any info before the official announcements
Eye Floater, Seera isn’t being rude at all. I sense no hostility in his/her words. They are contributing to the discussion and providing legit reasons for why missing WPs would be detrimental to certain play styles.
Seera is not using any offensive language at all. Don’t get offended so easily. :\
You don’t notice the arrogant undertones? I know people like that, they’re elitist know-it-all’s who never laugh. Don’t be fooled!
I don’t think anybody but you sees that. Your response to their post comes off as you flaming them because they happen to disagree with you. You wanted a discussion and they providely their position in a well written post. And now you’re being hostile towards those that point out this.
This. There were no arrogant or hostile undertones in the post at all. Was perfectly acceptable for this forum.
Orlando Bloom… maybe?
lmao
Taking the Asura to Isengard!
Whilst I’m not a fan of the pay per chapter scheme, believing it is off putting to new or returning players, if it was really that much of an actual issues, I suspect Anet would or will adapt it if their metrics saw a decline in ppl buying chapters Vs buying the game. My suspicion is that that has not happened and it is in the main, working rather well for them.
What I’d like to see is an option to gift someone a chapter via the gem store. I know you can give someone gold to get round this, but it would be a nice etxra (and yes something I have suggested in the BL gem store thread already)
What the hell is the problem with underwater, now? -.-
Underwater world it’s amazing and, yes, it has just a scenic role, so what bother you?i dont know why anet build up the under water system. also the underwater legendary. those are waste.
how many people will spend their game time on under water ? 1/50???
why anet not think about the get new race for under water?? like largo race.
and have main base at under water??and how many players made their underwater legendary? 10%?
You say that the underwater game is a waste, but you want a race that can be played underwater most than anything else?
I hope that will be an underwater content in HoT, just to see how amazing it is.
And please, guys, don’t complain for everything -.-
I don’t think JUN is complaining about the underwater content, more that it isn’t being developed to a better potential and thus those of us with a legendary UW may feel like we wasted our time. He/She’s suggesting a new race would help invigorate it.
I will doubt UW content will get any focus in patch, but I am hoping to be utterly wrong. I saw some great ideas involving the Ring of Fire and there is potential for UW biomes there.
I doubt they will add new starter zones to the game unless new races get added (a big if after Colins statement at the moment). GW2 has more starter areas than most mmos and after a while, any number will feel repetitve
No, they only send them out if you have signed up for them.
I’m reasonably sure they send them to all email addresses associated with accounts, unless you choose to opt-out.
It is sign up. Id never heard of til the weekends announcement when they advertised signing up
I think there is more info here in the main thread https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/gw2/Suggestion-player-camera-improvements/first
People will probably have completed the expansion by the time I have found a name for my revenant.
lol I hear ya
Questions about Pricing and Payment [merged]
in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Yeah…I don’t remember them saying no paid expansions either I’m afraid
Taming the Shai-Hulud
Correct.
Due to its nature, it can’t be kept in the world in the form it was released in. However, they would like to re-do it and publish it in the format S2 was done, but there is no timeframe for when or if this will be done.
Turn map chat off
It can also cost nothing with gold to gem conversion. Makes it even less insulting
“something something CONFIRMED!”
can’t resist
~sigh~ I can’t win.
Quoth the Raven….
Nevermore
;)
It might be one specialisation for now, but it sounds like they plan to build on the idea going forward. Having one per prof prob makes it easier to tweak and develop the idea for more later
If this is your first class through, how do you know that it will bad? I wouldnt go on player feedback alone, there is a lot of people shouting it down with incorrect info just for the sake of being part of the negative train. There are legitimate criticisms and I share some, but my experience has not been the wholly unpleasant, soul destroyer i was read about.
My advice is, dont go into the NPE looking at it based on reputation.
I’m sorry Gaile but its been a year now for your supposed living world its pretty pathetic that Lions Arch hasn’t been rebuilt yet. And if after 2 years of development on the Expansion you still can’t say if it will be fixed then my assumtion is no it won’t be.
I have to disagree. Within the first year it would have seemed implausible for a city to be rebuilt. As for Gaile being unable to answer, well im partly under the impression that as a non developer, she does not have that info (especially looking at some of her posts since announcement). Even if I am wrong and she does, they have been pretty clear info will be forthcoming over the next few weeks in their deep dives.
As Anet simply do not announce significant pve developments on their forum, id hold off and wait until their official responses on the main site before making judgements, no matter how frustrating or not that may be.
Gummy…you have permission to look smug..
..but, just once y’hear
Who composed the music for Heart of Thorns?
in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Yes, as great a job as Soule did for the GW franchise, hats off to his successors. It’s very much a different direction, but no less excellent for that. Been really impressed so far (although we need more Fear not this Night playing, even if its mixed up or twisted..!)
I too have embraced the Dragon
Fear not this Night…
…Fear the next!
AH right. That didn’t strike me as a Destroyer, but I can see the connection
I just rewatched the main trailer, but didn’t see any Destroyers or anything resembling one. Can you point them out?
And then Gwen will kill Rytlock for being a charr.
All will be right with the world
I like to think of myself an achieving, killer explorer who likes to socialise.
Joking aside though, there is an age old tradition in MMO’s where groups or guilds congregate in certain areas of a game to meet, chat etc. GW2 never really developed those sort of places and megaservers make it a bit harder to group up. Guild Halls would remedy that entirely.
People also want them because they are perceived as a traditional cornerstone of MMO gaming. I don’t entirely agree with that line of thinking, but I also don’t really question it much either – a lot of people want Halls and Anet have clearly found a way of bringing them in that fits their world. After all, they don’t bring anything negative to the game as far as I can see.
Nothing has been deleted – all rewards are and always will be, earnable.
To catch up, go to your story journal and click on the unlock icon for the next chapter you need in the sequence. Each chapter you missed that you didn’t login during its iniital 2 week release period, will cost you 200 gems.
" Oh, yeah. Oooh, ahhh, that’s how it always starts. Then later there’s running and screaming."
Bear in mind the eotn zones had very little substance in them in places. Some were just tranisitional to other zones. GW2 zones are considerably different and generally contain a higher level of replay value.
Since no detail has yet been given, it is neither or logically possible to compare EOTN to HoT. That time will come towards or after release.
In terms of how the living story will work and segregation occurs, I think it likely some will happen since that it is the natural yet unfortunate side effect of most expansions. However, much is yet to be revealed in the coming deep dives which will hopefully explain more. Im sure Gail for one will be collating this in her feedback as well.
Kilroy Stonekin – he was the greatest of us all!
(Although to be honest, every zerker amongst us already does)
I suspect Braham will be the nominated “one” to damage the tooth and become the rightful King of England…I mean lead the charge against Jormag
I’ll give you props for originality. Morgahn was a favorite of several folks – myself included – so I wouldn’t be shocked if they decided to bring him back somehow, but I’m rather doubtful.
The armor design isn’t that dissimilar to Morgahn’s armor either. Though given how abstract it is, it is also similar to the GW1 Order of Whisper armor – mainly that of Jurah (and who got a nod in this past episode? Hmmmm…).
But there’s really no reason to believe Morgahn lived an additional 250 years on top of already being an old soldier by the time of Nightfall.
As to who would be onlooking? White Mantle is a good possibility.
That said: @Randulf: I’m fairly sure that when Angel said that everyone will know who E was, she was meaning that the players would all recognize E, not the PCs.
Fair point, but not everyone played GW1 either and thus not everyone would know who Morgahn was/is
“E is someone we all know” – however 250 years on…pretty much no one is likely to know who General Morgahn is. Especially any Charr/Sylvari.Asuran/Norn players character, who’s races had no interaction with the events of Nightfall.
I think you have made a very fun, but enormous clutch at straws here
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/gw2/Please-allow-us-to-skip-cut-scenes/first#post4604049
this might help clarify things
Cool, that’s convenient. Is it worth buying part 1 of the LS before playing part 2? I mean, of course I would like to, but it is like $20, and I could read a synopsis for free, right?
If you mean the earlier part of season 2, then yes I’d say so if you want the story to make as much sense as possible (and also the early part if pretty good fun and breaks you into it better).
As pointed out, season 1 is unavailable since it was temporary content and presented utterly differently to current content, so that story is gone outside of reading a catch up guide. (they may reproduce it in a new playable form though one day)
Just logging in is enough.
A show of hands will not make any difference at all, since the aforementioned CDI already showed the dev team that there is interest and it helped them (hopefully) form a development plan for them. That is the thread that will guide their hand.
There are plenty out there who want them, it will just take a great deal of time to develop and implement tin order to fit the game.
They didnt make like an mmo, the design philosophy was to cater for the mmo generation, bringing in concepts more closely aligned to what online players are used to.
In terms of GW as a rules set…ill have a think and go through my rpg shelves to see if anything fits as a starting point for you
I don’t feel like hunting it down but I do believe that the Chronomancer was an idea for Guild Wars: Utopia. When GW2 was announced the profession was scrapped along with Utopia.
Correct
