Ah nice you did it as a pair!
I’d be pretty surprised if you didn’t recognize my name if you frequented the dungeons and fractals forum with much regularity. I do post a good amount; check my history! That said, I will be particularly following that forum and reporting major discussion points there. If you have opinions, make sure they get heard and post them in that forum!
Aha they have even added a title under your name!
Ah right. They had gone so quiet on the subject I presumed it had been dropped.
Congrats…. I think!
The sword goes surprisngly well with the outfit and those colours
I was a little surprised about the festival – it was largely unheralded, especially if you don’t follow the forums. Although the main giveaway was the patching at launch which prompted to me to check the release notes.
No biggie though, was a nice surprise at least.
I almost never use it on my warriors and only sporadically on my guardian. It just doesn’t “feel” right when I swing it and the skills don’t really suit my play.
I generally gravitate towards blunt weapons on my melee toons. I think it might be the satisfying “thwack” they make! That’s more fun than any meta to me
Last few nights in EU ive seen a few successful runs at Silverwastes. Generally silver and gold is passing through w/o issue, but red has been struggling.
There’s certainly still interest and presence out there (although Dry Top is showing a greater resurgence atm), it’s just luck if you get the right megaserver shard
This has been discussed a lot in this subforum. The official answer, is no they aren’t planning to add gliding to the core map. Since they aren’t designed with gliding in mind, the devs believe it wouldn’t fit, but also that it would encourage ppl to try and glide outside of map boundaries and trivialise content such as jumping puzzles
If they can reskin mail carriers, this is pretty much a dead cert at some point. A guild glider especially
Im not certain why the community forums can help. The only solution is to contact support via the support links at the top of the page. They are the only people who can assist you in this.
as the maps consist of 3 biomes it would be possible to fight Mordremoth at the same time in 3 different heights. Use gliders to land on him maybe…
This idea interests me the most
Do you guys think that there’s a middle ground between ultra hard and easy?
For example, I think we could clean up some of the issues with the Shatterer and just make it a more engaging experience. So rather than spending the entire fight hiding under his right paw he could, say, turn his head and attack that area? :] It doesn’t have to be hard, just a little more involved.
We tried to put in a few changes here and there when we added the new world boss timers. Reactions varied.
Any news concerning a rewamp of the existing world bosses with HoT? :-)
Well in an interview with Colin Johanson, which I can’t remember if it was Richie or Aurora or someone else that asked the specific question if there will be any revamp to the old bosses of Tyria, he said that there are no current plans on it because they feel that going back on old content doesn’t really progress the game, and that players were also interested in new world bosses, so they rather stick to developing new content instead.
I for one want to see new content, and new world bosses with unique mechanics, BUT for god sake, the old world bosses in this game are just painfully bad, they are a joke right now… excluding Teq and TT.
They should at least give us one revamped old world boss per year, I’ll take that if nothing else.
If that’s really what Colin said, it would go against the Living World concept as its core level. New content is def a priority, but revamping old content in line with this is essential for the concept to fully bear out.
I think Shatterer is the one that needs the most work and I don’t see it happening until we start on the road to Kralkatorrik. I don’t even bother going to it anymore, which is sad because the artwork involved in that boss is stunning!
I can concur it was always 10 – I stocked up 10 of each at the time in prep in case I ever made one
I’m afraid not, sorry
I know what you mean and I like them too, but would it really fit? This is an area almost completely taken over by Mordrem and we are going there with a sole purpose to take on his forces. I guess in the same way as Orr, where everything revolved around Zhaitan.
And Orr stinks. It’s horribly annoying to play in, the spawn rates are too fast, the aggro radius way too large, it’s generally unimaginative and uninspiring, and the rewards (especially after the loot nerf!) are poor. More of that theme will not be welcome…but at least I dont have to play it if it’s in a buy-to-play expansion!
That’s a different issue entirely though and not directly related to the “theme”.
As for the uninspiring, well perhaps in places yes. But, Anet have shown great improvement in how they narrate their events in a zone recently so I remain positive this wont be a problem here.
Could be a variant on TSW’s Aegis shield idea if its tied to masteries being able to remove it

You can never redo missions.
However, you can join a friend on the journey (ie particpate in their personal story instances) and experience the lore w/o ever having to level a toon
To be honest, I wouldn’t say you missed a massive amount – the wiki is by far a better source of lore and background info. That will help you catch up. Also your story journal will give you all the lore highlights you need in an abridged form
Its been discussed a lot. Its been confirmed not to be on the cards due to immense technical problems (it affects more than just the PS – it just causes knock on effects to a lot of other character data).
Even if they change their mind and decide to do it, by the time they do, itll be quicker to remake the toon, even with all you have done on it
Yeah 4 works just fine. Otherwise the apart from the problems listed above, everyone will be turning on their icon just to show off their colour.
They’re not really “old colours” anyway. They only introduced the new ones last last year…
*goes and grabs a proper game off the shelf to practice on – Pilotwings
Thanks for the support. It would be far more friendly if we could customize it. Even if it’s a small variety. If it can be included as part of a collection, reward, or “dye”, I wouldn’t mind. This is just way to frustrating. After two years of struggling I thought it’d be best to voice my opinion.
I think that would over complicate it – I think a straightforward colour change option would be the way forward. I think what is being suggested is a very good and reasonable proposal overall though
Saying that, using your collected dyes to colour your text/UI just sounds funky!
It def needs costume brawl skills
and Pigsy
MOOOOONKEEEEEEEEEEYYYYY!!!!!!!
Ive not even heard of this bee item. What does it do?
Interesting about skill point changes at lvl 80
In fact. all sounds very interesting indeed

"Challenging" content in open world concern

Wow will always be the top MMO. Eve the 2nd. Beyond that, in the West GW2 is def up there (no idea where tho, but it is one of the MMO biggies without a doubt). And with the huge influx of players returning or new since announcement (confirmed by the devs as well), its playerbase is pretty solid right now
As for top games having raids, yes they do, but thats because they followed a classic formula of believing they should be in the game. Doesn’t mean such traditional thinking translated in people playing them.
I’m not saying it shouldn’t have them. There was some great discussion in the CDI before it was unfairly shut down due to reasons which weren’t at all valid (although the contributions were only coming through a handful of players) which demonstarted ways to add raids to the game, some of which were really interesting. What I am saying is that they are an extra and not having them isn’t going to do much damage to the game that I can see.
Overall a success – it got people logging in and playing. That’s the big judge.
As a living world though, I’m not sure it’s a complete success. Lets put aside the storytelling which peaked and dipped a lot and look at the Living World itself. Has the World evolved since launch? Yes, but not enough to differentiate itself enough from many other games. Many zones are still stuck in time. In game time is moving differently depending on where you are – a dragon rises, forts get destroyed, vines grow and strangle areas. Kessex and LA bear the scars of Scarlets attack. However, the Charr Peace Treaty remains locked talking the same dialogue and doing nothing since launch. The Centaurs are obvlious to an all out assault by the Toxic Alliance in their own territory. The Orders seem unengaged in Worldly affairs at the HQs.
Small things, but relevant for a “Living World”.
It might well be a priority, however to change season 1 into something playable retrospectively would be a huge piece of work for them. Season 1 was utterly different to the way the PS and S2 is presented – think of it as a set of themed dynamic events that only worked with large numbers of people, but played in a specific order over a year. The scope incorporated the entire world, from random maps, an instanced tower (now destroyed), Southson and festival events. Oh and some dungeons as well. Not forgetting that The Battle for LA and Marionette could never be redone to the same justice as before.
To release it again would require re-writing a massively abridged version suitable for solo play. I’m sure it is doable, but it essentially would be writing new content. And with an expansion round the corner, that is going to be diffuclt for them to achieve.
I’d be very surprised if we ever see it, but hope we do – season 2 just doesn’t bridge the gap at all for new players. Even my alts who weren’t there for S1 feel out of place with the dialogue. It’s just a mess atm. And there is virtually no doubt they’d charge for it, especially considering the resources invested into remaking it.

I realize that many here are against raiding but truth is, the lack of it is what’s holding this game back. And, the developers are fighting that all the way to the games grave.
I dont think it is holding the game back. There has been plenty of released research and statements by MMO companies who have abandoned raids because the vast majority of players simply don’t play them.
I personally don’t believe GW2 as it is right now, is missing out not having them.

Reowrking the content isn’t the answer to this problem (although some content like bosses DO need a rework). Plenty of people either struggle with the core content or like it just as it is and new players wont care if vets can faceroll lower content. It barely impacts them, esp with the removal of champ trains in low lvl zones.
Personally I don’t see it as an issue – the game started off at the right level, but didn’t naturally evolve much in difficulty until Orr and Southson. It is only now they are starting to get the balance right for open world difficulty imo. But, to step up another gear and provide more exciting fights, a power creep is necessary. If not, the division will be worse as skilled players become the only ones left in the high end game and GW2 is very much an MMO for the non-skilled of us (me included).
If the problem is really to be solved, its with the downscaling technology. Scaling players down more appropriately will give the relevance and balance across the entire playerbase.
I think they put in a trait system which had some connections to how skill points worked in GW1. It backfired, largely because they had an easier and more fluid system in place. If the new trait system was from launch, no one would have batted an eyelid since they wouldn’t have experienced the better version we already have.
Was it an experiment? No. Was a sign of gem store unlocks for core system? pretty confident no again. Is this guided by Nexon and greed? No idea, but I’m pretty certain we chalk the whole matter up to a complete miscalculation. Same with the NPE and that was based on actual research with (i believe the stated figure was over 10k test players).
They made well intentioned changes to areas that perhaps weren’t in need of them. Simple as that as far as I could see.
(apologies if I missed the crux of your post, but I had to skim read since you broke the golden rule of forum posts – never write an unbroken wall of text – many can’t read clearly off PC screens)
Ignore, have decided to leave it as a bug report rather than a forum post
Obligatory Dinosaur related quote;
Oh, yeah. Oooh, ahhh, that’s how it always starts. Then later there’s running and screaming.

Kekai is freelance afaik, so prob best to contact him directly through his webpage or social media outlet etc
Collections for me. Lots of people at Dry Top now for the Amber weapons one
Yeah had no issues running through it recently – didn’t encounter this problem
or craft the rares and salvage. Thats what i did, but I had an excess of mats to do that with. I didn’t compare that with selling the mats though to see which was more efficient.
You know some people actually enjoy leveling characters, right?
All while missing out on the new expansion that is for level 80’s. They will all insta level
I certainly wont if I make a Rev. I never do with a new class – I prefer to level them
Think the Itzal are going to be a tengu tribe.
Tengu already exist – it specifies they are a new race
Because IGN hasn’t been fuzzy on details in the past
Touche

Wonder if the Itzl are the Mursaat lookalikes or something totally different.
Great vid tho!
the Arena in Destinys Edge was one of the best parts of the book. I’d like to see it again if they rebuild LA;
It could either be pvp as suggested or soemthing like a year round Queens Gambit, where you take on a series of boss teams. It could have spectatorship, tournaments 2-3 times a year as well.
Warrior – Barbarian (2h Axe)
– Disco Diva (Moot) Ok thats not a serious one……maybe
Thief – Adventurer/Raider (whip ala Indiana Jones)
Guardian – Paladin (Spear)
Mesmer – Chronomancer (weapon tbc)
Nope, I don’t think so. Major features have already been revealed and that would be classed as a major feature in my opinion.
Really? I’d def say that was a very minor feature. Not something Id expect them to have announced at PAX at any rate.
But, I agree I doubt it is coming. Its very much just a gem store thing these days
I’m going to say on par, but ive not really given either set my fullest attention to be honest. Someone who has done both will give a more objective opinion
Maybe this thread will help inspire the devs to tone down some of the existing ones where appropriate. Obv where ppl like them it wouldn’t be right to reduce them, but to keep making them headache inducingly flashy every few months is annoying even me….and I have a huge tolerance threshold for GW2 lol. This isn’t a Skittles advert
Not really. There is plent they could do. LS wise. But it not be LS so to speak. They could have us going around rallying people to join the pact after the heavy losses they just took. Fighting the Sylvai that have turned and getting them out of the grove. Trying to find a way to free them from Mordi’s grip. There are plenty of things that could be done before we go into the jungle after Mordi.
To be fair we do know that HoT starts very soon (as in minutes) after the end of Episode 8, so I am not sure how of that would actually be possible.
This is partly why I am sceptical of any festival events. It wouldn’t fit their in game timeline if they wanted to stick with it.
SAB they could get away with I guess though, but I suspect we will see features/balances/wvw seasons and maybe some sprucing up of core zones and their DE’s. Maybe.
This isn’t what this thread is about guys. Its a discussion worthy of its own topic, but please don’t derail this one
cheers
