I’ve played almost every mmo out there. My favourite was Anarchy Online because of the depth and dependance on other professions.

So go and play that again. Problem solved.

Up until gw2 it was my fav too, but they are totally different games in design and philosophy. Everytime i start a new mmo, it unconsciously benchmarks against gw2 and usually always fails that test for me.

Also, the lvlling in Anarchy is painfully slow. Certainly the slowest ive ever experienced

Also, the charr gave us Logan.

They invaded Ascalon, who captured Gwen. If that hadnt have happened she wouldnt have met Keiran thackeracy, married him and her lineage wouldnt have gone on to spawn Logan.

Just another wall between our two races!!!

I also read somewhere there is no plans to develop the lore more, since somethings are better left to speculation and imagination – ie it would lose its air of mystery if anything was revealed about it.

Makes you wonder though..

Excellent article!

Will other bosses from the core content be eventually redesigned to to take the new effect into account? I saw the bit about it being added to the old bosses, but it could be a good chance to redesign ones like Shatterer who need work anyway (see other threads on him)

I like the idea, i really do. and it also demonstrates how versatile and yet underused the fractals are as a concept.

It could work like the GW dungeons were you unlocked pages in a book and handed that in for rewards. Or maybe something like the pvp reward track as a structure.

However, the issue comes down to resources. With an expansion due, the devs are clearly flat out getting everything ready and after that no doubt it will be S3. The time and resources don’t really exist for cool ideas like this

We’ll get back at the Charr for what they did.

taking back what was rightfully theirs? all your puny race could do they have already done. if a massive suicide attack is your best than the feline magnificence has nothing to fear.

If you knew your Guild Wars history you’d know that the land was never theirs. The Charr came from the Northern areas and spread south taking over the land that belonged to the Grawl which were the original race that inhabited that region. They enslaved the Grawl and took the land for themselves.

They weren’t there originally.

Later the humans came and took the land from the Charr pushing them back north.

So if the Charr can push, conquer and call it "Charr land " then by the same rules the humans pushing back the Charr and conquering the area makes it “Human land”.

Also you owe a lot to humans. Don’t forget it was humans who were crucial to your race being set free from their “false gods” and the leadership of the Flame Legion shamans.

No, it means by the same logic if the grawl had risen up and attacked the charr with armies (and tactics I.e. searing) we would be defending their right to do so… Just like we defend the charr.

Charr being set free is almost as beneficial to the Humans as it was to the charr. If the charr still accepted false gods it would likely mean zhaitan would still be alive.

Trying to spin this around – but we hardly knew of the elder dragons when the movement started by Pyre Fierceshot took place.

Then explain the great destroyer?

At the time we didnt know the great destroyer was a dragon champion or even elder dragons existed. That knowledge came later. Im sure the lore experts can detail that more

Well, of course a lot has changed in 2 years. There’s no way to list it all. The trait system has drastically changed and not for the better. Dyes are account-bound is one change. There’s a wardrobe where you can see all the skins now. Living Story Seasons 1 & 2 have come and gone.

Just a few changes.

Well obsiously I’m not expecting anyone to list all the changes ^^.
Do you consider the game more polished now?

The game was very well polished at launch, but as said many additions have been added in response to feedback which have enhanced the game even more.

Bit of advice, if you feel this strongly about something – change the title to something more related and more constructive. Avoid the use of hyperbole in your posts as well. Saying they WILL DRIVE YOUR CUSTOMERS AWAY, when they have the pure metrics and facts at their ready disposal to make that judgement themselves is not going to help any cause.

Ignoring the bizarre conspiracy part of the post, what do you mean by the number requesting it is “huge”? That would suggest thousands of people and I’m pretty sure I haven’t seen that many requests.

I think the more sensible to thing to do is either post in the main black wings thread or request the white wings in the BL “what we want” thread

What has changed in 2 years?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Randulf.7614

Randulf.7614

If you want Guild Wars 1 redux you are going to be dissatisfied. Your best bet is to ignore the name and pretend you’re playing a game by another company. If you don’t like it on its own terms and what it has to offer, then maybe another game would suit you better.

This is the best advice anyone is going to give you. I can pick apart some of your comments in your OP, but i wont since that wont solve anything. If you have to force yourself to like a game, then it is just not for you (as I found out with games like Rift).

I hope you do like GW2 – the more the merrier, but based on what you are looking for, I suspect you wont.

Sylvari needed for HoT?

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Posted by: Randulf.7614

Randulf.7614

Was told that it was mentioned by Collin that it would be a good idea to have a Sylvari for when the expansion comes out.

Is there any truth in this?

Yes he did say this, but that comment suggests some ambient content or some minor/fun/cool (tick as applicable) changes to the race themselves. It wont be something that will lock you out of parts of the expansion. The comment they made about Revenants in another thread shows they do not want to gate players in such ways.

Beyond that, you are free to speculate

Is it confirmed that crafting is max 500?

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Posted by: Randulf.7614

Randulf.7614

I’m not sure if Mike O’Brien said “never,” but we won’t be getting a raised level cap or another gear tier of Heart of Thorns, at any rate.

I don’t think they’ve announced anything one way or the other about crafting in HoT, but I’d be very, very surprised if they raised the crafting cap. 500/Ascended crafting is still extremely expensive, and if they’re not introducing a new gear tier, it’s hard to see what the point of 600 crafting would be.

I would be less surprised if they raised jewelery to 500, but it’s unclear what that would even be useful for.

It was announced no increased level cap ever at an interview with Eurogamer. I think ppl are right in saying no more crafting tiers though. That would mean new tiers of mats and I think we have the right number atm.

HoT is Underwhelming

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Randulf.7614

I’m reserving all judgement until after I play it. Going in with pre-conceived ideas is bound to end in disappointment – things never live up to how you want them to be.

Even as a GW1 fan, I pretty much avoided all the hype on GW2 and got to approach it completely fresh. No promises were broken, no manifestos to obsess over and thus no disappointment felt since day 1.

Living World Season 1 - Please bring it back!

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Randulf.7614

Randulf.7614

To scale it down to be soloable isn’t viable or easy to do . Time and resources are needed committing to make it fit properly – this would be a siginficant time investment, one that needs undertaking for new players, but also one unlikely to happen with an expansion round the corner.

They may yet surprise us with it prior to HoT, but my expectation is that it will never happen

Feature Patch Needed

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Randulf.7614

Randulf.7614

Simply stating they need one wont do much. Giving feedback would help more than stating it.

He’s letting Anet know that he doesn’t feel there is enough content to hold the game over until the expansion.

How is that not feedback?

What Riku prob meant to say is that more detail than “feature pack please” is more helpful. ie what would the OP like to see in a feature pack between now and then. Or what would they class as a feature pack.

No one knows. They didn’t announce it before they put it in. They didn’t say how long it’s going to be around in the patch notes.

(And then they wonder why we say they don’t communicate).

Something for our new Forum Specialist to feedback. We have been asking for patch end dates since season 1 on content which doesn’t fall under the “every 2 weeks” category. There is no reason not to disclose this info in the patch notes.
