no it doesn’t? your build alone should do that. if you fly away from a point of combat, you literally stop defending whatever you were there for. your argument makes no sense at all

Gate to camp south of bay or bridge south of hills. also in just about every keep and in smc it allows you to glide from inner to outer walls to push the enemy zerg face first into inner gate and wipe them. it makes dive swings far more effective when you dont have to dive out you can simply glide out safely then rush straight to gate slaughtering and tapping the siege on the way in then glide out push in glide out push in. its a very effective tactic which would be fully voided by people painting walls given no glide in combat.

It doest aid people fighting in their owned territory period it gives them the advantage. You are indeed just salty your bags got away thats it thats all there is to it. your literally complaining you didnt get to to stomp people

TLDR a strategic retreat via glider is a much better defensive option then get wiped and run back from spawn.

Judging by the fact you attempt to validate yourself at the beginning of the post, the fact that you cant survive immobility in WvW (lol stunbreaks genius), and the fact that your somehow suggesting that you should actually be able to survive a 280k burst without using an ability like rev shield 5 that immobilizes you? lol please just stop bro we all know your bad.

That aside lets talk shall we? The point of the large shade trait is really the CD reduction because your not wrong that CD is punishing as all hell. but losing 2 shades is actually a weakness to that trait. Being able to have a shade on your front line to pulse cleanses and barriers while two shades are on the enemy line pulsing heat and fear makes for more use than one large shade in either position. The burn procs are indeed a little strong but its no more overpowered than reaper bleeds. Plus I think your under estimating the power of actually gaining every boon you corrupt or remove in WvW. you realize how many stacks of stability you corrupt? you can max might and perma stab fury vigor swiftness yourself not appreciating that is just foolish. Now your not wrong the portal is a little weak but its not the cast time that makes it so its the pathing restrictions being the same as any other teleport as opposed to being mesmer based objectively it would work best if you could use it at any range so long as your summoning to a sand shade. now general restrictions like no teleporting up walls would still exist but making it more free would be a major boon over simply removing the cast time. As for barriers the decay starts a little too soon i feel they took that rapid pace timing from overwatch but im confident anet will figure that out quickly.

Realistically scourge is the most WvW viable of all the new elites and in a WvW setting its much stronger than reaper I already miss being able to play it. You sir are just playing it wrong your treating it like a vanilla necro not its own unique class and thats going to burn you on each and every one of the new elite specs the ONLY class that got simpler was rangers and mesmer the rest got a lot more complicated.

It’s a pve raid trait imo, most skills will only affect your own subgroup in raids, with having shade skills affect 10 people, it effects the entire raid, making necro a super viable raid barrier support. Since whatever subgroup he is in he can barrier 10 people. With the shade skill and condi remove 10 people and heal 10 people with the blood sinergy.

total effected people is the same 5 for each regular shade plus 5 for you is 20 or 10 for mega shade 10 for you is 20 either way you can effect 20 players

autoattacks dont regenerate energy for balance reasons: well there goes a potential saving grace?

In PvP its a godsend its basically a sanctuary for your team in a fight where you bomb them with barriers and cleanses. while scaring your enemie with the chance of you casting fear on it.

In PvE its kinda meh take it or leave it. I prefer having 3 so you can place 1-2 on enemies and 1-2 on allies

In WvW the reduced CD is nice and you can place it at a gate to spam barriers on allies but by giving up that trait for the bottom GM trait you gain the most nuclear boon generation in game. you steal dozens of boons at a time that GM honestly needs an ICD you have too much corruption and boon stripping in your kit to warrent a GM trait where you flat out steal those boons.

Your weapon swap flipping your attunement is a great idea and it would allow you to go from fire/earth to fire/water instead of going to earth/water when moving to water or any other combo making the whole weaving that much more flexible

You get that mark and you know you are doomed for a heavy spike and the only thing you can do is retreat very very very far away. You cant counter it because you cant find the deadeye in the hell of WvW all you can do is GTFO because if you dont the deadeye WILL kill you.

But as the Deadeye its kinda meh to pick a practically random player and ruin their day sure you get a kill but its not the “i made a big impact” move if a scourge drops a well placed greater sand minion he sees an immediate major change in the battlefield. if a dragon hunter drops its circles of area denial they see an entire zerg change direction. The deadeye knows they saved their team mates hundreds of thousands of damage by finding and killing that kitten zerker staff ele but they dont see the direct impact losing that ele has on the enemy zerg.

Team fights come down to 5-10 key moments where a skill was placed perfectly and when your the one that does that you see the dynamic shift it causes. Deadeye doenst get that feel even tho they do infact make a major difference in team fights by guaranteeing kills.

Barriers decay way too fast

there are a lot of ways Anet could make barriers more useful. any of the following would do the trick

Remove decay make quantity slightly larger
Cant take damage from condis while up (condis can still be stacked)
Cant be critically hit while barrier is up
Barriers decay into health a 75% efficiency
Barriers destroy projectiles
Traits added along the lines of “enemies damaging your barriers take a torment condition” or “allies protected from damage by your barrier gain random boons” or “barriers that decay without taking damage heal in an area around them”

Why testing on live servers ?

I personally enjoyed it this way. WvW got some limelight i got to partake in some larger than normal team fights. And I got to test the classes I was interested in in a more intense environment.

You can mock the players for making posts on its combat ability based on shooting golems. You then mock them for saying the class is strong because it performed well against a bunch of other players playing classes they arent familiar with. But I will tell you who you wont mock that 10 man team spearheaded by a scourge that just roflstomped thru your zerg because you know he played his class well with less than 48 hours to practice it while you have had years to learn yours. You know whoever the hell is behind that scourge has taken the opportunity to learn his new class and explore its playstyle and they and they alone know if its balanced or not. If that scourge was playing in a “testing” only map vs other people only playing classes they arent used to you would dismiss his input on the class just as easily as you do people who fought the golems and just as easily as you do the people that fought in 5v5p against other new elites.

THAT ladies and gentleman is why this was done on a live server because now you simply can’t say that players input isnt realistic. Any questions?

Numbers in WvW are basically just a HULK SMASH tactic. In reality, we have so many hulkbusters its not even funny. a good team of 10 can wipe the floor even in an open field fight vs a group of 50. New elite specs will only add to that. Scourge and Renegade in particular will be VERY effective in moderate sized groups due to their ability to support and condi bomb at the same time.

Rev will get more use in WvW as its resistance will become more and more of a frontline backbone with Condi revs and Condi nekros getting stronger. meanwhile Ventari revs will still be the midline backbone as they are the only thing in game that can counter both condis and raw damage with their almighty tablet

Nekro will probably make a switch to Scourge the aoe tagging potential Condi bombing and generally more range and support options.

Elemenalist will stay tempest the melee options provided by Weaver dont make up for its overall squishiness enough to make it a frontline fighter tho weaver roamers will be very strong.

Engineer will see more warrioresque roles in frontline combat but will still ultimately be a roamer class

Mesmer will stay chrono for group content and either/or for roaming

Warrior will likely go spellbreaker its anti zerg potential is off the charts.

Guardian can do whatever it wants every guardian build is viable

Ranger will pick its new elite spec for the sole fact of its the only way to make its pet not 100% worthless infact it makes your pet a legitimate part of your build also the auto save on down will save them.

Thiefs will be thiefs the elite spec is just another option to allow them to roam it doenst make them super viable in zergs but it helps giving them the ability to target the eles and simply eliminate them.

You absolutely have to do non-support things to get rewarded now on an auramancer thats easy peasy but if your using hammer 5 on a support rev your wasting energy you could be spending on healing condi removeal or area projectile warding. Idc how support gets rewarded but it needs to be rewarded.

i normally dont agree that entire builds and playstyles should simply not exist but yah ghost thief is just impossible to 1v1 against infact a good one can 1v5 and still win in many cases. there is no justification for this. its one thing when a zerker ele deals enough damage to force an entire zerg to back off, its one thing when a guardian face tanks his way thru 40 people and comes out at full hp on the other side. but NOTHING can stop a ghost thief because if they even consider the idea of losing they just escape with no way to track them down.

i used to actually run this in WvW back in the early days of gw2 it sure did kitten up the front line if teams are evenly matched dropping all the wells during the initial clash will turn the tide. but yah not hte move overall effective build. but if any class in the game can survive face slamming an enemy zerg in zerker gear its the necro.

I love its current itteration sure its not as world shattering vs large bosses (probably want a needed nerf but whatever anet) i enjoy the terror of being inside that aoe and the rush it gives when you see it lands a big crit vs a group of enemies. its RNG is part of its charm and part of its terror.

any of the sigils with “on use of heal skill” are also VERY good for ventari since you can spam your heal skill. you can get nearly 100% uptime on fury or regen for 5 people just out of your runes plus even rune of the flock is pretty good.

I think you mean on heal rune, and while they are all very good, monk is still the best option. It heals more than flock, and water. And the boons from dwayna/grove/altruism can be given with glint/traits.

I should correct what I said earlier. One should use sigils of water and life. The math was done on that and they have the best heals per second.

If you’re using hammer for roaming you’re doing it wrong anyways. And revenant shouldn’t be roaming after the nerfs made shiro and rev heals all but useless.

But you said Revenant was strong in WvW!
I think roaming is a part of that, no? Arguably the only fun part for a lot of people.

I know what you meant, but if Revenant is only good in blob vs blob, then I think the class does suffer in WvW to some extent.

its a little weak in roaming but the real problem is the build for roaming and build for blobs simply do not under any circumstance merge/hybrid or work for each other. they are aggressively different and you cant switch between the two roles without a full trait change and gear set swapping.

This is really interesting. Just a question though: is Glint a necessity for this build? I know, I know, dumb question: Glint > all, but I have to ask, since you spend most time in Ventari stance anyway.

Yes, I believe Glint makes the kit overall a lot better. It adds utility and strong cc for when your team needs extra offence. It’s very useful for disrupting enemy rez, blinding, revealing. Let’s not forget infuse light – the one skill that makes you immortal for 3 seconds in case you get focused.

I’ve been playing ranked matches and it seems people are now targeting me a lot more, causing me to rely on Glint way more than I did in unranked matches.

Salvation is the only mandatory trait line for healer rev. But glint is the best compliment trait line. Also it helps shield skills which pair well with ventari. But no not nessecary. And kitten staigt ranked targets the ventari weilder you can full heal team mates every 2 seconds

with the current balance patch rev is the worste 1v1 class in all cases. if your not a rev and you see a rev alone your a total noob if you lose to him no matter how good he is. BUT if the enemy team has a rev and yours doesnt you better fight REALLY hard because revs are quickly becoming heroes of group fights. oh you bursted half that bunker guardians HP in 3 seconds by burning all your initiative and now your ranger is moving in for the kill? too bad rev just healed him to full health granted him protection reduced his cooldowns and is protecting him from projectiles. in a team fight unless you find a glass build enemy always kill the rev first their heals are unstoppable. isolate and pressure him or your team wont get a single kill. this isnt easy tho becuase they bunker almost as well as a guardian. mine consistently survives with near full health after being run over by a 40 man hammer train in WvW. but then again if a thief catches me alone trying to guard a yak i might as well be on a zerker staff ele because im gone plain and simple. there is no point even trying to fight back im a worthless piece of kitten 1v1 i could roll soldier build and be alrightish vs some classes but honestly whats the point?

well this is a problem with rangers long bow it has been nerfed into the ground. i mean honestly its big nasty almighty 5 is an aoe cripple with kitten tier damage. i mean it should be a weaker version of meteor storm but nah its just an aoe cripple with a long cast time and moderate to long CD.

You also forgot the part where the ranger loses half his HP to retaliation from Barrage while the people he cast Barrage on barely lose 20% of their health at best.

Shhhhhh ranger is amazing what are you talking about their signature weapons are amazing and undeniable. now put that axe away you kitten.

Hadn’t heard about them getting alacrity until seeing this thread.

I don’t love the look of it.

Executing the same ability over and over and over and over and over to keep a buff up? Yeah, that’s not going to make me want to throw myself out a window.

i dont think your intended to keep the buff up its just some added flavor to justify using the energy. the reason to abuse that power is 8-12k on a single heal with a 2 second CD. and you can trait for protection every time you move the tablet. as well as pulsing regen and you can tap the light field on for condi clearing on demand or use it to cover your rez or protect your retreat. plus infinite access to knockback is great tho the knockback range needs to be higher :/

Dont forget the energy usage, try it out first. Its cost intensive and while you spam the heal, you can only autoattack.

for the amount you heal and shred condis while providing perma alacrity there is zero reason you should be allowed to do more at once. i mean honestly do you think ele should be allowed to provide siege 100% uptime on alacrity while dropping meteor shower on the tower walls while countering epibombs while dropping 12k heals constantly? nah you would like it if ele had to wait a few seconds to return to meteor shower after dropping full health on the tank you just fought for 30 seconds to get to half health. given the insane output on support rev has being able to use weapon skills while doing that support would be over powered as kitten in WvW.

I think all of you need to wait a week, let the meta settle and I am sure you will be surpised to find that rev will be one of the pillars of raid group in both pve and wvw.

Why should the buffed version of the previous meta include kitteneless class?

Offensively we didnt get any buffs(other than much needed fixes for the mace and axe). I don’t think anet want us to be a main dps class, instead a support class. The changes to ventari are huge in the support role for both wvw and pve. Moving the tablet is now basically free, and roughly a 3k heal every 3 seconds. The changes with natural harmony make healing power actually scale with the tablet. I’ve seen numbers as high as 13k heals from this skill alone.

The addition of alacrity confuses a lot of players. A lot of people are jumping to conclusions. A single mesmer and a ventari can keep the buff up permanently on a group of 10 in raids. A ventari rev brings a lot more group support and damage compared to a second mesmer by brining boon duration, 150 ferocity for the group, and a slew of useful boons (protection, might, furry, regen).

Lastly, in wvw alacrity is being used to speed up siege for faster assaults as well as huge front line heals. Last night I was able to sustain a group under 3 arrow carts with just my own heals. Something that normally takes a group of people blasting water fields to do so. I fully predict that ventari will become staple in wvw. It has huge heals, decent range damage in a mara/zealot mix, on demand light fields, and oodles of protection.

Sadly ventari is not a good support class.
Supporting is not just about healing, and for a supporter, ventari sucks

healing protection regen light field projectile protection condition removal knockbacks and cooldown reductions your right not a support class because it doesnt provide the team with absolute immortality under all circumstances like none of the other classes do.

Revenant is a more DPS oriented class. In PvP revenant far outpressures any ranger DPS build, and revenant has aoe damage which is omething ranger sorely lacks, which is why nobody wants rangers for zerg play unless it’s a druid healer.

Ranger is wanted over rev for PvE on TWO conditions:

1- That you play a healer (druid).
2- That you play the ranger condi damage build, which is mainhand axe and torch. If you find that weaponset not to your liking, or you want to use a power build, you are out of options.

and yet as of the recent balance patch in WvW revs have become the best healers outside of arcane water tempest auramancers. they pop 10k heal that pair with regen and protection boons literally every 2 seconds. with infinite access to knockback alacrity and condi clearing and projectile blocking. in PvE it depends if your team is spread out a ranger is good but an ele is probably better but then again spirits are bae.

nobody ask how anet turned our warrior thief hybrid into a unique support class but just be oddly grateful it happened to be the support class that WvW has always needed. honestly these short range but massive heals paired with condi removal and projectile managment have turned rev into a monster support.

in a WvW fight a rev will out heal a druid with the most recent patch. in a WvW team fight rev will last longer but deal a little less damage. in a WvW roaming ranger is an uncontested choice. outside of WvW ranger kittens on rev in pve and in pvp a rev is just a resistance bot which mesmer does a better job of anyway.

What? Server balance was achieved in Wednesday’s patch, thus;

Being killed while outnumbered no longer grants any war score to the enemy team.

this is a huge thing that went largely unappreciated. i can now suicide charge into enemy siege if i need to.

Why would I want to play a Revenant healer? Might as well go play druid to heal effectively and reliably

in WvW this is 100% not the case rev burst heals for 8-12k on a 2 second CD while providing protection and alac.

What is the burst combo for Ventari heals in WvW? I’m making full minstrel gear and also thought it might work well on rev. Never used Ventari before.

absolute maximum heals are generated while your at full hp and within 10 seconds of switching to ventari. but as for combo none needed just move tablet to where you want which grants a modest but good heal to all it passes thru and if traited regen+protection then hit the burst heal utility. if the enemy condi bombs hit the condi cleanse which heals per condi cleansed and can be double tapped it needed. enemy is nuking a hallway with ranged attacks place tablet in hall and put the bubble up. enemy is on a cliff wall or what nots move the tablet to them then pop your elite to knock them off and grant your team heal shards to pick up. its all a game of dancing with your tablet

ventari rev plays a lot like a pet class you spend a lot of your time energy and resources buffing your pet at the cost of your own personal performance.

Get an Engineer who’s excellent with the mortar and they’ll do pretty good against acs too.

Scrappers with mortar elite are WvW’s hidden gem.

Hadn’t heard about them getting alacrity until seeing this thread.

I don’t love the look of it.

Executing the same ability over and over and over and over and over to keep a buff up? Yeah, that’s not going to make me want to throw myself out a window.

i dont think your intended to keep the buff up its just some added flavor to justify using the energy. the reason to abuse that power is 8-12k on a single heal with a 2 second CD. and you can trait for protection every time you move the tablet. as well as pulsing regen and you can tap the light field on for condi clearing on demand or use it to cover your rez or protect your retreat. plus infinite access to knockback is great tho the knockback range needs to be higher :/

best way to destroy arrow carts:
Step 1: grab a guardian.
Step 2: Grab condi gear
Step 3: Apply guardian runes to condi gear
Step 4: stand in arrow cart fire and pop blocks.
Proceed to watch arrow cart melt.

100% not the point of this post. the point of this post is that if an ele is able to get in range of your siege the siege is toast. also this guardian rune nonsense should not be a thing.

PS:you dont need a guardian to do it all classes have blocks
