Deadeyes will be so under appreciated because of how bad a bad one is. a good deadeye will find an eliminate that single zerker ele thats nuking the world because once that ele goes down your team can push like the enemy team doesnt exist.

Essentially:

Proofs of Heroics will let you buy Heart of Thorns Hero Points, and HoT Runes, Sigils, Recipes, etc.

The New Currency will let you buy Path of Fire Hero Points, and PoF Runes, Sigils, Recipes, etc.

The reason for tihs separation is because when you use a Notarized Scroll of Heroics, it doesn’t just give you 1/10 Hero Points. It basically instantly completes a random Hero Point for you. So, it makes sense to distinguish between randomly completing a HoT HP and a PoF HP, especially for people who own one but not the other.

this honestly annoys me. For what purpose can PvE players unlock their elite specs in a single evening but WvW players are hard time gated? Atleast WvW players had to prepare to get elite specs on day 1 but now all that preparation is just kinda wasted.

Do you not read or something? You will still be able to buy the Notarized Scroll of Heroics and Notarized Scroll of Maguuma Heroics to get Hero Points to max out your elite spec on minute 1.

No the new currency grants a new form of heroic points so that your current hero points and current chests and current heroic notes will contribute nothing to getting your new elites. farming for the new elites starts on launch day not a minute sooner. thats the entire purpose for the new currency.

Vita might not be as important because reaper is already high health. Are we really going to see barrier stacking beyond 8k?

Thinking Apothecary and Seraph stats might actually be a better choice for a condition scourge.

Then of course there is always the celestial/might stacking option.

Vitality increases your life force pool (but not the cost of shade skills) thus allowing you more energy to spam F skills.

That depends on content tho TBH in PvP thats pretty nice in PvE its hit or miss depends on the fight in WvW lol there is infinite life force in WvW its the whole reason necros are so powerful there.

CC such as stuns used to be few and far between which meant having trouble with them was more of a “you dont have a stunbreak what a noob” problem but now the dispersion of them is so common its honestly a waste of your time to use a stunbreak skill because those have 50~ second CD’s and most classes have multiple 20-30 second CD stuns. simple math suggest your better off taking anything that grants stab block or full immunity. 1v1 its become more a game of who can bait the enemy to waste their stuns and ZvZ its a slightly more interesting but more punishing game of. “who can gain stab corrupt stab and place more CC” type kitten. A good ZvZ or GvG ball is generally immune to CC as a whole. but in small groups or 1v1 stuns are guaranteed downs.

I see not a single one of you are familiar with squad participation. that solves literally ever single person telling me i dont know what im talking about.

Then again maybe your just kittenting because your the one subafk shoving resources into a wall facing a treb. I however prefer players that are actively participating get rewarded greater than those that are watching game of thrones. Scouts and camp guards are always welcome to squad participation for that exact reason.

Beyond cynicism, one of the things that pushed me to actually create this topic was a situation earlier today. I wiped a group of 3 just outside of their camp. I started on the camp and before long the three players I had killed began coming into the camp attempting to kill me one after the other. I would kill one, he would respawn and start his trek back, and by the time I had killed the third, the first one to die was already back at the camp and the cycle continued on until I decided to leave it alone and abandoned the camp. I guess I just wish there was a viable system that might make those guys say “hey, we keep getting killed trying to stop this dude from taking our camp. Sure, we could keep this up and prevent him from capping, but would that really be wise considering every time he kills us we….” Right now the only way to finish that sentence is “Would that really be wise considering every time he kills us we give his team a few points?” It’s just not enough.

So you suggest in pvp/wvw you just spam the barrier, because “using them before the damage” is just a bad suggestion, unless you are psychic. What about the bait move? How far after release do you think people will learn to bait necros to use their barriers?
As proactive defense you need few sec of “breathing” time window or its just bad design.

Once you’ve engaged a fight you are pretty much constantly taking damage in spvp. It’s why sustain is king, at which point, your barrier should not be running out via decay.

You get barrier as a secondary effect most of the time anyways, which means you aren’t spending time healing and not doing damage.

The ways weavers get barrier is a secondary effect on scourge its the main attraction its sacrificing your damage output to put a shade on you for the sake of getting that barrier.

If your barrier is decaying, you’re not taking much damage. If you’re taking a lot of damage you don’t need to worry about decay. The decay is fine.

Yes this is something people wanting lower decay don’t understand. It’s not meant for perma shielding. It’s preemptive healing to help counter spikes. And it is not meant to 100% negate spikes either. It’s meant to soften them. It is meant to be a balanced augmenting mechanic that is not redundant nor a replacement.

under what circumstance would i use that as opposed to simply spike healing after the spike? that healed HP is permanent and doenst decay and can simply be held over until the next spike. the barriers arent any bigger than heals either. There are a lot of things that could make barriers a side grade to heals as opposed to the current ghetto heal it is.

Barriers have innate protection.
Barriers take half condi damage
Barriers decay into base HP at 50% efficiency
Barriers temporarily disable slow effects like Slow,chill, and cripple without removing the condition.

Anything like that would enable barriers to be useful in cases where heals would be available.

Um, when the damage is of the burst variety? Most classes don’t have spike healing, necromancer included. You use the barrier skill a second before the burst damage.

I’m honestly surprised why the concept is so hard to grasp.

alright so lets say you have 20k hp and the enemy spike damage is 10k without healing or barrier you would have 10k hp left if you used your 2k barrier before the spike before it decays you would have 12k hp left or you could heal at your leisure after for 2k with significantly less trouble. no decay on your heal potential and honestly the heal would most likely come out to 5k with the same healing power it takes to get 2k barrier. that would leave you with holy kitten 15k hp instead of 12k hp what a deal.

I dont undertand why this concept is so hard to grasp. HEALING > BARRIER in every single possible potential existing and non-existing way. the sole litterally singular purpose for a barrier is as follows

You have 20k hp burst if for 21k hp and no chance to heal at all during the burst. the 2k barrier that you placed perfectly before the burst has allowed you to survive with 1k hp so that an auto attack can finish you off.

Congrats barriers have saved you.

nobody is concerned on enemy team getting pips they are concerned with getting pips themselves. the most efficient way of getting that is to be the scout/roamer to collect participation from the squad.

you can get rewards at the same rate by wasting supply in SMC by repairing a section of the wall every 10 minutes as you can by being the top damage dealer in the main group.

limit participation gained from PvE portions like camp capping to t3. after that participation can only be gained and maintained via player kills. (or participation from squad <3 them scouts).

Alternative

Kills grant bonus participation and % of a pip. such as 1 tagged enemy kill is 1% of a pip and spikes grant 5% final blow 2%

Convenience. Your sandshades are (probably) summoned spirits of the dead. There is plenty of sand in the desert. It’s a cheap and clean way to give them a “body” and allows them to interract with the world around them.

I can accept that they are spirits of the dead. I can even accept that thos spirits would need a body. But i cant understand the sand aspect of it. Even if there is a ton of sand in Elona that don´t change the rest of the world. Would it not fit better with something that has more to do with necromancy? Sand to me don´t sound or feel necromancy at all.

Warframe uses a tech on some of its warframe ability that blends the textures of the ground pattern into the ability perhaps scourge could use some of that? on a sandy area get a sand shade on a grass area get a grassy shade on metal floors get metal shreds shade ect.

Will scourge be enough to become raid viable?

you can make it 3 time the amount it its now and it would be decent

decent is good enough. the idea that necros are bad at life siphon just irks me. it could also be a scenario where power and healing effect both aspects of the siphon allowing the damage and healing done to be double fed by gear sets like clerics.

Ascended trinkets drop pretty much every day in WvW.

How many ascended trinkets have dropped for you the past 30 days?

I got like 10 rings and 2 ascended armor chests. You get that stuff alot from reward tracks and the pip-chests.

You must have bought some magical unicorn horseshoes from the gemstore, cause that’s probably a years worth of playtime not 30 days.

Ya I have multiple ascended rings and trinkets that drop all the time in WvW. It is a lot easier for me than taking time running through fractals. Also you can make good gold in WvW as well. So why even go to fractals unless you enjoy them.

good gold? you mean semi sorta okish gold the gold from resources you get in bags towers and broken down gear dont even compare to the gold you get from PvE farming PvP chest farming.

Yeah…toughness does nothing. Weakness and resistance do, and what are those? Oh, right boons / conditions. Go figure.

thats because condis exist to counter guards and warriors that stack toughness

Same way criticals exist to eliminate eles and rangers

this game exists in a state of a balancing circle the current meta for defense is toughness thus the current meta for offense is condi. Soon the meta will shift to condi cleansing builds (boom boom lightfield) when that happens guess what the offensive meta will be? thats right conditions. when that happens the defensive meta will switch to toughness stacking which will cause the offensive meta to switch to condi building.

Basically its a player mentality thing metas take several months to mature and become enough of a problem that players build specifically to counter it which causes the original meta itself to fall out of meta since you then have to counter the counter. then counter the counters counter countered counter. See how this works? its total and utter nonsense and the reality is the only way this will ever go away is if Anet starts softcapping stats and make balanced builds the meta which would be a TERRIBLE thing because then everyone would run celestial with 1-2 cleanses and a mix of crit/condi weapons which would be even more boring to play.

TLDR there is no solution stop whining

How much barrier you can have is dictated by vitality. How much barrier abilities grant is dictated by healing power.

thats actually well thought out are barriers also effected by toughness and protection? what about boon duration? also aegis procs under the barrier or above it? i mean having barrier absorb damage and only trigger aegis if the HP damage would be taken would be ideal. if Anet thought all this thru barriers could be infact very big players in WvW. and huge deals in PvP. a bunker scourge is already tanky as kitten with multiple weapon options i played a cleric scourge with dagger/torch axe/dagger and it went oddly well. i also went apoth and its zerg bombing and barrier output was off the charts tho not as potent in pvp as the cleric was. Im not much of a raider so i cant really tell you how well it will do there but i doubt it will rack raid meta that much.

I want next elite spec to use Hammer (will work with the new legendary and the fact hammer necro goes back to GW1).
I want blast finishers on weapon skills, invulnerabilities/evades/blocks, leap or shadowstep, a unique buff for raids. Thanks for attention

Maybe after i want a ranged power option first and hammer might be ranged on rev but we all know its a face smashing weapon not a pseudo staff

While some of what the OP talked about can be fixed with l2p, it can’t be argued that there’s been power creep in the game. For those who don’t know, it started about 3 years ago when they decoupled stats from traits. The balance was never quite right from the baseline stats, and it definitely favored power. Then with HoT, some builds and core specs put out insane burst damage, not just power burst, like DD thief or GS headbutt warrior, but condi burst as well, like with mesmers putting 25 stacks of confusion or guards with burning in one second. We’ve all been one shotted or close to it, and that is just unbalanced gameplay. I’ve advocated for years that they up toughness/vitality base. I’m not alone. Not by much, maybe 25%, but it needs to be done.

That just means offensive abilities need nerfing. Particularly the condi meta. the essence of balancing is fixing outliers not buffing everything to match the outlier. if you buff health and toughness how many abilities and traits that dealt moderate reasonable damage are now trash? oooooooor you could just nerf burn guard epibombs and reaper bleeds.

I like Discord, but I am not heavy user or the one setting it up. I would guess people stick to what they are used to, and do not want to change it easily.

I can just approve this novel idea of an healing skill that cursed a group of foes for a limited timae so that a %age of their damage heal the necromancer. That’s purely evil, I love it.

i love the whole utility concept of granting things to your enemies in exchange for you gaining very potent abilities.

Apothecary is probably best you get condi and healing plus toughness to make use of your high base HP pool. many would say vit>toughness but since your healing reducing damage improves your effective heal rate. also given your high base HP pool toughness gives you great “effective health” which is the amount of raw damage you can take after toughness mitigations. with exotic apothecary, transfusion can heal for up to 8k thats going to be broken strong on a scourge.

I want a Power focused Long bow necro that centers around siphon damage and healing. utilities focusing around giving the necro mobility would be ideal. i know im coming across as wanting a replacement for vanilla ranger, but thats really not it im thinking more spell caster with a bow class mechanic could be a ranged version of shroud if anet was feeling lazy but would ideally improve upon necro minions or possibly be a necro version of ele conjure weapons. some off my head examples of abilities would be as follows

BOW
1 Launches a bone spear that pierces and siphons health
2 fire arrow into the ground at the necros feet creating a large aoe that chills for several seconds
3 summons arrows up from the ground at target location dealing several ticks of damage life siphon on each hit
4 launches an ethereal scythe across the ground creating an impassable line enemies
hit directly get immobilized
5 fires an arrow into the sky summoning the hand of grenth to slam down at the targeted area fearing enemies and dealing a single hit of damage in a very large area.

Utilities Scales
1 tags near by foes with the hand of grenth their attacks siphon life for you for the next 10 seconds your attacks transfer conditions up to 5enemies hit by siphon gain vigor
2 leap backward 1200m summoning a random minion enemies near your starting point are crippled and have their cooldowns reduced by 1 second enemies hit siphon life back to the necromancer
3 gain swiftness and retaliation while slowing enemies but cleanse enemies of one condition
4 steal 1 boon from each nearby enemy up to 5 boons and reduce all your cooldowns by 5 seconds enemies that have boons stolen gain a random boon
5 push enemies away from you transferring all your conditions to each enemy but grant them a barrier enemies hit siphon life back to the necro
6 elite: grant yourself an allies super speed while granting enemies protection

Class functions
1 Summons corpse clone of the necromancer that uses auto attack of your equipped weapon at time of summoning 2 charges 20 second duration 10 second recharge time limit of 2
2 commands all active minions to circle around the necro blocking attacks transferring conditions from the necro and granting necro protection minions take double damage while effect is up.
3 commands all active minions to attack necros active target
4 all active minions and necro pulse a life siphon aoe that heals the minions and the necro.
5 sacrifice all active minions to heal and gain all of their boons nearby enemies have a chance to gain one of those boons

I remember the turtle tbh tho tbh given stab changes i think catas will kitten turtles up a lot more than before 3 cata shots then smash the turtle with a hammer while its on its back and easy no run chase bags.also we have more access to chill and slow than before with less prominence on projectile deflections since the power ranger is dead. The enemy zerg in this video was legit just bad.

In a zerg fight, I think your best role is as a skirmisher, largely finishing what others have started. So you kill stragglers & reinforcements. Finish downed players after the clash. Kill the one or two lowest who just barely live through the clash.

deadeyes can get amazing results like that ranged nuking the downs so they dont rally is very important

Currently right click does nothing which isnt so terrible except the base aim location for aoe skills in action cam requires you to pull your PoV down to eye level to aim at max range with reaim aoe’s enabled allowing you to drag your camera without moving your aiming point with right click would enable more finesse without any notable downsides.

The thing is they do drastically change things a single kill is a huge deal if they are in the main squad. and Deadeye can reach the backlines with its 1500 range allowing it to eliminate support and DPS

Being able to have a shade on your front line to pulse cleanses and barriers while two shades are on the enemy line pulsing heat and fear makes for more use than one large shade in either position.

While this is true in theory, in practice it is unlikely to work. By the time you got all 3 up both zergs would have moved away.

learn to dance. zergs have predictable movements. also commanders tend to go left WvW is basically a game of left turns until you reach your destination. You think im kidding watch them closely in combat 4 lefts for every 3 rights.

That said even if your late your shades are still indiscriminate if the one you placed on your front line is now on the enemy frontline thats perfectly fine thats a good spot for it to be. the one you placed on your backline is now on your frontline? well that works i guess. Scourge requires a more flexible mindset than the other elites. I dont suggest building rotations I suggest reactive skill use. the only thing i suggest keeping on rotation is returning shades to the field the moment the CD ends.

Yes, but if you want to argue about how horribly wrong gliding in WvW is, you should also notice that when HoT was released, you were not able to glide in WvW. And yet, WvW suffered. So it was NOT the gliding that hurt WvW.

They created desert BL maps for HoT clearly gliding in mind, and yet, refused to add gliding into WvW when releasing HoT. Why? I dunno, but it was the reason desert maps were so badly received.

And how would exactly mounts “ruin” the WvW? If you want to argue about that too, we can make another topic for it or go on in this.

HOT ruined WvW by introducing new specs that were not meant for zerg fighting.

The ability to apply condi repeatedly over and over in sec forced certain zerg comps and then epi necro came into play. Also the nerfing on certain skills made them less useful in PvE and PvP such as rifle warrior.

HOT also ruined things by not allowing WvW players to play the new specs without doing PvE. With a much much more.

But once again you are trying to use to argue PvE in WvW. WvW players did not want this and PvE players pushed for the new BL map that Anet made for WvW. WvW players wanted the ability to fight on different plains, attack structures differently and be able to have more choke points in fights.

Gliding literally takes away many things the real WvW players wanted. Im talking the players with 3k 4k 5k+ WvW abilities.

Like for instance in did not play WvW much since the WvW leveling system came into play. Im still around 1k levels in WvW but i have most of my WvW AP done and the ones that are not in are T5 and over half done and i havent played WvW much since HOT.

Gliding effects the way fighting is done in WvW. The immersion of zergs fighting in a tower/keep with players able to either glide into a fight or away takes away from many aspects of WvW.

Also the mount thing is something Anet would implement without testing. For instance Anet allowed POF specs in WvW and zergs were finding bugs making the whole server crash.

Its just one of those things where when you need balance in a game, with the track record ANet has with GW2 it wont happen and there will something wrong with mounts in WvW, sord of like Gliding in WvW.

WvW is not like PvE where if some may like or some dont they can do other things. Like if you are a PvE players you could be a raider, a map completionist, Ap hunter, skins collector, a farmer etc etc etc.

If you play in WvW you are there to WvW and thats it, Anet keeps bringing in PvE ideals into WvW without giving them the WvW spin on it. Its why i bring up HOT specs, HOT specs were made for the raid bosses. Increased combat speed, more healing, boons, damage and lower CD’s. They make raids what they are but they did not see what would happen to PvP and WvW.

In PvP fights never ended and in WvW fights ended almost immediately, things brought into another game mode need to have looked at from that view.

Sadly Anet hasnt and many PvE players who want more PvE stuff in WvW are in a sense killing WvW since WvW was its own game type and it needed its own changes.

For instance new upgrades or choices for keeps or towers, new weapons or defense/sustain/offensive tactics.

With a new Guild Hall that requires thousands of gold for WvW upgrades, you would think Anet would have given WvW something, instead they split the community again with gliding and in the future mounts. You dont grow a community by killing the veterans and bringing in casual PvE players who are not willing to fight or die for something like defending the BL tower or keep.

You have to play pve to use elite specs? you realize I have enough points to instant level my necro to scourge the very moment it releases because I played WvW right? people not playing WvW cant do that.

OH MY GOD new builds means new meta? holy hell i never would have known that elite specs changing the builds people use=destroying an entire game mode. kitten here i was enjoying those new builds in WvW man was i wrong.

I disagree it empowers defenders which is something the game mode deserves more of. Your just salty your bags escaped

no it doesn’t? your build alone should do that. if you fly away from a point of combat, you literally stop defending whatever you were there for. your argument makes no sense at all

Gate to camp south of bay or bridge south of hills. also in just about every keep and in smc it allows you to glide from inner to outer walls to push the enemy zerg face first into inner gate and wipe them. it makes dive swings far more effective when you dont have to dive out you can simply glide out safely then rush straight to gate slaughtering and tapping the siege on the way in then glide out push in glide out push in. its a very effective tactic which would be fully voided by people painting walls given no glide in combat.

It doest aid people fighting in their owned territory period it gives them the advantage. You are indeed just salty your bags got away thats it thats all there is to it. your literally complaining you didnt get to to stomp people

TLDR a strategic retreat via glider is a much better defensive option then get wiped and run back from spawn.

you shouldnt rely on gliding as opposed to what the anet devs designed the whole maps to do. Fighting on terrain, terrain isnt shapped for gliding. is there for fighting on, any player that says glide is a good stat. that player is inherently bad in wvw and should go back to pve. or maplestory.

your own character build/zerg should dictate how you fight. not gimmicky gliding mechanics

listen, im okay with gliding to escape incoming conflict. in not okay with people that can pick any fight that they want. and then escaping during conflict

and everyone else should actually address what im saying. and not trying to justify bad game play mechanics

By that definition you also shouldnt use any elite specs WvW was not designed with those in mind. the fact is these are things that have been added to the game and failing to utilize them is stupid beyond all belief. this game is in a constant rolling of balance and the fact is being able to glide in territory you control innately makes you more powerful in your home field. thats a good thing.
