this doesnt actually improve anti blob gameplay all it does is empower roamer gameplay. the thing is im facing yaksbend atm and honestly i needed bloodlust to fight against them we cant hold blood lust for more than 5 minutes because they have a near infinite supply of people to send out on roaming orders. honestly a decent commander has command over their roamers too. i consistently organize roamers to go flip camps or tap garri to force enemy commanders to move.

I recommend switching to the shortened nameplates. It is far easier to get a more accurate count of colored dots than full names. For example, “two 60 man zergs” can’t at all be accurate since map hits queue around 80 or less.

also minions ranger pets and elementals should not get a colored dot or even a name plate as it makes opposing forces look much larger than they actually are.

Until anet gets off their anti elitism high horse and enable the ability to view squad damage taken damage dealt heals given and boon share count this will always happen its almost impossible to see who is useful and who is kitten on the backline.

it should probably be reduced to 2v1 as it currently stands outmanned buff is worthless as your simply not going to be killing the enemy by the time you get that buff its not happening period. no commander can reliably fight 90 with 30 unless those 90 are smashing their face into siege on a hill without going up the hill.

Ele skills also only cause cooldowns. They don’t share the same resource cost.

So, again, it doesn’t matter how rev has 2 utility bars when all said utilities cost energy and so do weaponskills. While also having cooldowns limiting said skills.

Unlike thief who also get extra initiative regen via traits, revenants also have no good traits to help with energy management.

theifs are another good point. they get zero cool down to manage their energy cost system and their utilities not only dont cost energy but in many cases regen it then their trait lines support faster energy regen. rev is just like naaaaaaah do your burst then gtfo

alright so I’m going to try to follow this argument logically. pinsnipers say “lol your commander dies and you don’t have a backup driver”. so what if you do have a backup driver, or 4? all you have to do is switch targets, then you can continue to grind the fight to a halt.

anyway, best snipe is 2 necro corrupt boon 2 hamrev CoR + 1 other. or the d/d thief duo.

Best snipe is 60+ pinsnipers, sheesh everyone is so far behind the meta these days…..

In particular, 60+ rangers, the best meta zerger.

The only meta countered by 1 wall of reflection.

RIP rangers mesmers and guardians kitten all over them with dem reflects. Only reason i ditched the class i can deal more damage with an ele anyway i just prefer medium armor aesthetic.

i hate to say it because i would hate to see it reduced to such a thing but eotm has a valid concept due to how many servers compete at once on the same map there is rarely an imbalance in team sizes. perhaps every week all the servers get shuffled into a new color and we all fight over a single set of battle grounds. extra players could be redirected to overflows that dont count for the score but do count for participation and rewards. while they are there they would be in queue for the real battle to ensure it always has thriving population on all 4 maps.

Wells are useless in PvP/WvW except GW

Funny thing is, I got a feeling they introduce wells so that mesmer can perform outside of veilbot in WvW. But in the end we had boonshare bloom that was never directly supported by chronomancer traits or skills (except knowing CS combo).

We used to have plenty of people testing out mistrust/interrupt traits with Tides of Time/Gravity Well, but resistance/stability become so abundant that they never shines. As for well of calamity……you might argue that people recognise it as a tagging tool or whatnot, but not many people have high hopes about its damage in WvW since the start lol

honestly if they wanted mesmers to be a solid WvW class they should have looked at providing team mates reflect bubbles or aoe retaliation protection combos. or if they wanted the mesmer to get explosive wells of torment+might and confusion+evasion condi wells or placing reflect bubbles on allies would allow mesmer to become a very aggressive wellomancer. but you know a lesser version of their glamours is also a good downgrade.

Actually, wvw as a whole is boring as all get out due to lack of major and minor updates. Players are fatigued. There is nothing to “win”. Rewards still suck after 4 years. Professions have been stale for a long time. The devs don’t fix problematic issues. Players come and go on every server. There is only so much repetitiveness any player can take… There are a plethora of issues and circumstances created by the devs, and it’s short sighted of you to talk about “commanders” and niggle about “ratio” when wvw is an unhealthy competitive state…

you take a shot at commanders and rant about WvW’s problems? i take it your a commander.

anyway since im amused the rewards have been buff a lot other than lack of access to ascended armors in WvW short of the insane amount of crafting materials you get from WvW (lol like i want to craft that kitten if i can avoid it) other than dungeon spamming WvW is easily the most profitable in terms of gold and resource pick ups. but your right lack of access to ascended armor is what drags its population down. as far as boring honestly its the most interesting part of the game save people who enjoy 5v5 pvp. seriously what is more entertaining 30v30 team fights or might stacking in a corner then nuking a boss while you hide in that corner so he cant hit you?

You should probably rephrase that first sentence because you seem confused… You took a shot at commanders, not I. You don’t look at the big picture so I laid it out for you.

ANet abandoned underwater content in general, so that’s not a Revenant-specific issue. Besides, ele also has only one underwater weapon.

There are only 3 utilities per legend because you have access to twice the number of heals/utilities/elites at any given time, so that also doesn’t have anything to do with Rev being “unfinished”.

Revenant is clunky and doesn’t seem to have any sort of defining philosophy, but I don’t consider it “unfinished”. It is, however, rather half-baked.

you compare eles to revs under water for only having one weapon …. eles have 4 elements so 20 under water weapon skills and 5 underwater utilities (more if you pick glyphs or weapons)

the same thing with revs having 10 utility skills at a time eles have 20 weapon skills and up to 5 skills per utility and elite slot if you pick weapons and 4 if you pick glyphs. honestly eles have the most skills in the entire game your doing a horrible job defending the current state of revs.

you know it was unfinished at launch but the over powered numbers on its attacks were what got people to kind of glance over that detail as it was fully functional due to the output potential. but now that we are down to the wire on balancing the fact that its really only balanced into a soldier build the rest are vastly under powered. even its healing builds are mediocre for healing. (i do love the mechanics of the tablet despite the insane energy cost on its abilities and kitten tier healing on its ultimate). I sincerely feel making our next legend condi based then giving us a good 2 handed ranged condi weapon and removing energy cost from our weapons would be a perfect solution for all but the utter lack of underwater combat (yes i know anet has blown it off for all classes but rev is especially bad)

The problem is they piled all the boon generation onto Glint, and since might, fury, and prot are pretty much mandatory to perform, you’re stuck with glint.

Then, you don’t have an option if you want to have a stunbreak. Your only otehr legend with a reasonable stunbreak is Shiro, and is the only legend that gives you mobility and quickness as well.

Ventari is trash, because staff as a weapon is trash. Its only good skills are staff 5 and staff 3. The rest cost a ton of energy, as do the ventari utilities. The staff auto damage sucks and the orbs it spawn heal for nothing.

Mallyx only has one available weaponset to support conditions with no ranged options, and mallyx has no good stunbreak.

Jalis doesn’t even do much. It’s supposed to be a tank spec but it’s worse than glint and shiro in survival because shiro has evades and evades are always better than partial mitigation. Glint has its heal absorb and high prot uptime which eclipses Jalis.

The only decent weaponset is sword mainhand and they’ve nerfed the living daylights out of it.

hey idk man in pve mace is almost kind of ok. and just imagine if your cool with giving up everything else you can put out like 40% of the damage of a power build if you dive head long into using a single legend and the 3 mace abilities then simply ignore your second legend your offhand and your second weapon set completely. 10/10 finished class is finished and well rounded.

No second water weapons

Condition builds only have one weapon

only 2 legends work under water eliminating even thinking about underater when build checking.

legends dont offer you choices for utility skills (5 utility skills per legend would be plenty)

weapon skills still use energy despite not having reduced cooldowns to compensate.

As a guy who plays on an oc’d 1.8ghz dual core, i can agree that lag for me can be an issue. I tend to stay out of huge fights due to this but only when the fights are so large that other people also have skill lag have i noticed that in particular. I’ve also had moments where i’ve melted before i even see the aoe rings beneath my feet. Both of these instances have been pretty rare. That said i do lag out but my computer is probably on verg of crying so i expect that. That said, i’ve also had kittenty internet connection (overloaded node on teh block full of college kids). That caused a serious ping spike around the 9pm pron hour, like clock work.

So the issue may very well be any number of things. The game does have lag issues, just ask google. However there may also be any number of other issues at play be them client side, your pc/settings, or dropped connections somewhere along the line. Tis just the joy of playing games on teh internet. Do a speed test, trace route(?), lower gfx settings, check drivers etc.

tldr: I could very well be the game that is the issue, but unfortunately it could be a fair number of other issues as well.

its primarily player equipment as someone who has a legit computer 4.5ghz quad core r9 fury + r7 for the non-gaming utilities. plenty of ram and SSD’s this game simply does not dip short of MAJOR scale player battles. it does require a lot of power to run in 30v30+ battles but if you have the beef the games servers can handle it and are sending you all the packets on time.

WvW player stick around MUCH longer than PvE players PvE players tend to hop in for new living story then leave as soon as they finish it. Honestly WvW is a million times better than it was pre HoT. sure there is room for improvement and anet REALLY hates making improvements outside of major patches so that the major patches feel more major. But honestly its getting better and better since launch.

There is a reason that there are commanders/drivers in WvW and it’s not just so we can all ktrain/mindlessly zerg. Even the best fight teams have a driver. The reason for this is that the team needs a reference point to where to gather for regroups and directional callouts, and where to cast waters/fires/CCs/etc. It is good to have backup commanders and they can usually take over fairly quickly, but in a good fight, that moment of chaos that pinsniping creates can be all it takes to wipe the group.

nobody worth nothing has stated that a team should be able to fight an enemy zerg without their commander. if that was the case we would be asking for the commander system to be removed but clearly we are not because we know kitten well leaders are important. if everyone was moving in a direction they thought was best then everyone would be moving in a different direction.
Obviously you can play your game however you want. If you get off by pinsniping, then good luck with that. Personally, I think it’s a cheap tactic. But that’s just my opinion.

Hey Yuffi, thanks for the reply.

I would 100% agree that WvW is kind of a sandbox or playground to test out builds. I can’t say that that would go away with an amulet system. Can you elaborate more on why it would stifle creativity? To me the creativity you’re describing only comes from the min/maxing of sustain stats.

amulets dont allow you to put 2 pieces of celestial into your soldier build or mix 2 assassin into your berserk for that extra crit chance. amulet system assumes full set of half half sets. an amulet system that allows you to use a different piece of gear in each slot is called the current system. the current system is why i have 145 bag slots and 3 sets of gear so i can switch to condi or zerker if i need to but run soldier as my baseline. I wouldnt lose much on my ZvZ builds but i run wonky kittening builds in roaming so that people dont chose meta counters they have practiced when they encounter me.

As a roamer I like ascended gear so I can put infusions in for the +% damage to guard/lords/supervisors. It really helps when you want to solo flip a camp quickly and gtfo.

you know i never actually considered using those because frankly camps are easy as kitten to nuke while i need every stat i can to duel against some of those guys who would show up while im in the ring.

honestly a good team has back up commanders if my commanders pin goes down i have a hot key ready to tap squad leave then squad create hot keys back to back so that tag isnt gone for more than a second.

it certainly lacks purpose atm tho honestly i cant see what it could be used as. i suppose a viewing room to watch skirmishes your team is involved in would be fun probably of an asura design. perhaps a room with cameras from all your owned towers keeps and camps your team could use as surveillance. would need a source of payment so that isnt free.

or just the ability to place a camera over the head of all commanders so that you can see what the commanders can see.

the balance to the fact that condis can be cleared to remove their damage after only one tick is the fact that they blow straight thru armor. which is naturally why all the heavy armor classes have the best condi clears while the cloth classes have some just not as much. /s

Bug? Retaliation destroying siege

If this is caused by Rune of the Guardian then it is an unintended consequence of Anet making condition damage affect siege.

It has to be unintended because it does not require the Guardian to be able to hit the siege.

If it’s unintended then it’s a bug or an exploit.

exactly and i WOULD NOT suggest using ruin of the guardian until then because anet has a history of lashing out at people who use exploits like this even if they did so unintentionally

there is a wiser solution perhaps anet could enable a chain of succession within squads. where people who have been promoted to “backup leader” and when pin goes down the one closest to him with that position gets auto tagged

if im on a tanky build and my commander goes down i hit those squad leave squad create hot keys so fast you think pin simply teleported 20 meters to his left.

Shredder Gyro is terrible. Replace it with either Elixir B, C, or Elixir Gun. These are like better than shredder gyro even if it had kitten cooldown.

Take Iron Blooded; HGH isn’t really helping you much, if at all. You can easily maintain a few boons on your own— in group fights, that’s a lot of damage reduction.

Take Kinetic Battery; no point in overkilling on endurance— endurance bonuses don’t stack and tools already gives you so much. Same goes for invigorating speed. If you’re building a build around toolbelt skills, then you want this trait. Being able to double cast super speed, the reflect dome, or toss elixir b can and will change fights for the whole group.

Get some Marauder/zerker weapons.

Elixir X is alright for trolling in huge fights due to the toss ability, but not in a build like this. In fights less than a dozen, all you really do is put a giant “kick me” sign on yourself. Stealth Gyro provides tons more utility, and when you’re taking Final Salvo, it’s a mistake not to take it.

I don’t really think it’s possible to fight any kind of non-zerg fight as a “bruiser” without condi-removal; without inventions, you have to take either healing turret or adaptive armor. With the popularity of epidemic, even in larger fights going in anything in front with no condi removal I think it’s downright irresponsible. But since final salvo is so crucial, I think medic gyro has to go.

  • Some Condi Removal/resilence
  • Lots of damage reduction
  • Durability runes = help the group
  • Superspeed/swiftness heals you
  • Spam the Bypass Coating as needed.
  • Counter-stealth/stealth/ninja stomp/run away
  • Bring a rev friend and be happy.

For a more balanced build, with more purity of purpose /gag, take inventions instead of tools and take medical dispersion field. Inventions offers a little condi clear which means medic gyro can be a thing.

unless i was roaming and trying to take camps why would i ever want medical turret over medical kit? the CD on that condi clear and summoning turret is far too large.

as for the trait change of replacing might with stability to create heal on speed thats a personal taste thing. both traits are amazing but with the final salvo trait being taken its foolish to not take the extra might. if i was going to go with the healing trait i would go all in on the bunker aspect and take adaptive armor then reconsider my utility skills.

if i wanted a more balanced build i would go for this. it gains range via mortar abuse and some more love built into bombs, it could deal with more condi damage but then again i use condi more as a way to pressure enemies than a way to kill them too many kitten guardians to rely on condi damage.

go out the back… or side … or other side or from the base spawn which also has 3 exits. honestly its one thing to get ganked on your way back to a fight but how do you get spawn camped? you know the shortest way back to smc isnt the only way to smc right?

Would be nice to encourage people to play support builds, they go so unappreciated atm

the only benefit i get for spamming revenant tablet is the fact that my team doesnt get wiped i dont get a single bag or scrap of exp if i dont also occasionally tag something with a hammer skill its kind of bullkitten that i can be the most critical member to a team yet get rewarded the least.

you could removethe tactivators and simply add them as a dialog option to the upgrade npc so that people who dont know what they do wont hit them out of curiosity. that would eliminate over half of the abuse

Npcs can be killed which would make them unusable.

make that one singular npc non-combat and immune to damage……. pretty kitten simple if you ask me. the tactic of killing siege vendors has been dead for ages anyway since people just carry stacks of 100 around

That could bring up a bunch of other issues, regarding targeting, aggro messing with capture (invuln yaks for example), and players fighting around the npc to avoid damage.

Also having an interactable object rather then a dialogue option is much faster, which means if there is an enemy blob in the area, you don’t want to be standing there waiting for a dialogue window to pop up and reading the options before you choose.

most of those issues you mentioned are classified as bugs. as for taking time to activate i would rather that then wait 15 minutes for the tactivator becuase another new player wanted to know what the tactivators all did.

Keep in mind that Mallyx as a whole was bandaid changed a few weeks before release of the expansion and the current version was meant to be a temporary one. That’s the reason for many inconsistencies, lacks of synergy and in gameplay.

anet has some serious lack of progression any news what they are working so hard on since hot that they have ignored class tweaks ever since? the only thing i could justify ignoring classes is if they were working on more elite specs

i already do mail commanders i appreciate small tips 10-50 silver if i was in their team for a long period of time.

but a system like this would just get 20 tags per map fighting over players.

Healers should get both bags and exp for for kills made by allies that kill enemies likely at a reduced rate. some examples of ways to do it are as such

Placing a boon on an ally grants you a 10% chance per boon you apply to an ally up to 50% to gain the exp and loot bag from kills made by buffed allies

Healing an ally (outside of regen) grants a 50% chance to get credit for their kills within 3 seconds.

Make the skills of Weapons good, so that the cost is justified. Or get rid of them.

The expensive skills are the good skills in part because of their lower cooldown. Drop the hammer is an example of a skill that would probably have double the recharge on any other class.

i disagree look at engineer hammer skills Cooldowns are still really short and are super strong probably one of the strongest weapons in game outside of 5v5 pvp of course. they have huge base damage plus toughness—→ power trait paired with utility on each and every skill from vuln stacking to blocking to projectile reflection to might stacking its an amazingly powerful weapon and the cooldowns arent much higher than revenant.

your not wrong they added the pathing because people used it as grappling hook as one would expect but the actual placement shouldnt be that big of a deal if i want to place it on a wall i should be allowed to do so.

perhaps owning guild of structures could have a personal ban list of players not allowed to use tactivators while tactivators are on public? this would obviously be set at guild level not structure level so it carries over

i see a lot of discussion for PVP value but personally i prefer WvW builds and i want to torment zergs a second round of elite specs could help this game a lot revenant could get one that focuses on bows that do torment and chill and a legend that goes for poison and bleeds. would grant access to a greater range of conditions while also granting ranged condition application without wasted weapon slots and legend.
