better access to stability? mist form, armor of earth x2, earth attunement switch if traited, arcane shield + tornado are pretty much the most useful stability utilities in the game. the only profession that comes with more stabi is the warrior.

guard has more than anything other than warrior and traited for 2s of stability when parties demand zerker cute. arcane shield is a block not a stability kittens in 0.1 seconds is enough to get you knocked down in pve thats a thing and it happens. tornado would be nice except right stability is wanted for running portions and you dont want to actually hit enemies because it slows you down can you NOT hit enemies with tornado? armor or earth alright ill give you that but x2? think again gaining stability doesnt stand you back up if your already down so even if you took that trait which again zerker zerker zerker if your under half health your gonna be dead before the knockdown is over. so really yah mistform and one armor of earth if you give up not one but two of your utility for it. your parties must love you so much

you dont read very well do you? this isnt about roamers this is about ZvZ and if you dont know the difference between the hammer trains of JQ and the tactical/suppression units of DR then please dont waste my time with your comments.

i disagree i play both and in pug parties my ele gets rolled because they have no idea to keep running when i drop a stunfield behind them or they do something stupid and expect the ele to heal quickly. not to mention WvW ele requires a good front line while a necro can be the front line and still deal the same damage as ele just on less targets at a time. plus necro has better access to stability and you know that second health bar is always nice

competitively they would be a little over the top since doing so would make it so they could be up at all times. this brings in the boons conditions and effects they all have being permanently available. for example a 2 second stun on elite air ele with a 15 second CD or the cripple/chill removal with swiftness buff on the lesser air ele. or the gain might on lesser fire ele would give ele way too much access to game changer conditions

solo pve ele is probably more fun because you have access to more skills and if you get good at it things become very efficient very early while necro kinda need to be 80 to get their full effectiveness going for them.

ELE
early: simple spam staff or scepter skills. keep water attunement on ready for easy heals
mid: start playing with daggers and start getting aggressive
late:your pretty set into either a condition master or aggressive face melting likely condition since its pve but things die when you look at them funny

Early: your axe is your friend and death shroud is your wife you have a tendancy to kill things because you can
Mid: your starting to play with utilities mainly wells or minions depending on your build you can be bursty if you feel the desire to and your not afraid of pulling a few too many
Late: your locked in to tanky nothing can hurt me minion master melt before my superior bleeds scepter/staff condimancer or bow before my axe dagger and wells ferocity mancer any way you look at it your killing champions a little faster than you should and you strike fear into the hearts of the undead everywhere. even in full zerk gear your still unusually tanky and your not 100% sure its fair but what do you care your a mother kittenin master or death who doesnt die raises the dead and makes their enemies well dead

im not too concerned in many scenarios it doesnt even matter. DR is a very low population server and we got promoted to silver and are currently winning our matchup. This is attributed to our superior commanders in voice chat and players switching to classes and builds the team asks for. I dont even remember what it is like to run without waterfields or stability. Tonight our 13 man team and 20 man team faced off against a 100+ player swarm of HoD guess who danced in SM lords room? not going to tell you it can all be overcome by skill because it cant. but 4-5 really good players and a commander that knows how to position his manpower can do some fun runs.

kitten hadnt noticed they added a icd into blinding that wipes over half the builds effectiveness now i gotta rebuild my mez before i need her for WvW again -_- and for the record rampagers gear survives just fine on a mez if your smarter than the average zerg mind player. i have never needed toughness or vitality to survive in any silver league matchup on any class only warriors and idiots need those stats outside of gold league.

Now this build is not intended for roamers and its not intended for facing off against the hammer trains of gold league lets put that out of the way now we all know it doesnt work in those scenarios.

This build is built around my experience on Devonas Rest. It combines excessive Torment and confusion with multiple blinds. The reasoning behind it is simple there are several ways to control a fight one of them is thru crowd control, which is found on focus 4 and gs 5 use those heavily and consider using them in combination with each other hint hint wink wink. The second method is damage. Thus torment confusion and the power/precision found in gear while wielding the GS. The third is suppression which is why we have blinds focus 4/5 gs 5 and nullfields effect.

The playstyle is pretty simple you start the conflict by rushing enemies using your utilities from the left to right making sure to drop the entrance portal somewhere the enemies you are rushing straight thru will run over, then you use blink to get directly behind them to drop the exit portal. naturally a few players will take that portal not even knowing where it goes because idiots are idiots. but now the fun begins. focus 4 in the middle of the enemy then focus 4 again to pull them together gs 4 for a quick hit on all of them then gs5 for pushing them onto your advancing ally line. Pick an unfortunate fool close by stand in his face and gs2. now gs 3 whatever strikes your fancy and use gs1 as filler until your weapon swap cd ends. focus 5 a pesky ranger scepter 2 a warrior what have you the enemy should be in disarray by now and you can start picking people off. make sure to use swiftness from focus 4 and blink to catch up to runners if you want your bags.

eh i believe it vs a thief ill deal 12k with axe 2 on my necro reliably, in special scenarios i can see long range shot dealing 8k damage pretty easily. why are we whining about this tho? Warriors are still a playable class in this game after all

learn to kite bro i run 3 wells and am always the last one standing i win by pure offense im a 100% assassin gear with zerker access (only because assassin doesnt have an acc set) and with that im rolling 20k hp before vit buff from guard def traits. and im ticking wells for 5k and i deal plenty of weakness blind and chill to reduce the out going damage on the “instawin club” learn to play bro just stop whining and learn to play warriors are my kitten

Yes, you apply 14k damage over 14 seconds. You calculated it wrong, it’s 14k total if moving, not 21k.

torment deals more damage to those that ARE moving so its 14k if they stop and view the scenary. and that is just one instance of torment we have aoe torment on shatter. in addition to confusion on shatter and glamours. tho tbh im still not a fan of condi builds i simply made this because someone didnt believe torment could ever deal significant damage.

under 25 kill stacks and 25 stacks of might

again easy as hell to accomplish in a zerg

25 kill stacks is literally 5 kills you can get that by dropping a single nullfield in the middle of the field and 25 stacks of might is not 100% sustained in small zergs but a few guardians stacking might will get you there and there are always a few guardians stacking might.

Awesome, depicting Necromancer as a decent class

First of all you don’t get 20k Hps unless you get Vitality on your gear; then you show again Death Shroud as an impressive ability giving more hps, when, effectively it is just strong in 1v1 with full Life Force and scales horribly in large fights, because the damage done will tear it apart in seconds.

Also, 5 bone minions mention from Lichform are the best part, they’re really scary…

first of all 12k hp does not get ripped to pieces if you dont pretend your 1200 toughness necro is a front line you play mid lines right behind the warriors and guardians ans stay at axe range for the first impact of the fight. and when your down to killing all the good players after the bad ones have been roflstomped yes 5 bone minions will live long enough to kill someone i usually use them to target a thief and mesmer since they automatically focus attack whoever you attacked last so you can direct their damage with lich form auto attack which with a good zerker build hits for over 5k.

funny joke dude. although i’m glad people are finally starting to realize a counter to uber conditions. the strange thing about power necros is that, like thief, (most of)their dps is single target. wells are the exception and so is lich form. i get focused so hard in wvw that my effectiveness is brought down to zero in a matter of seconds. (yay hammer trains while being a dagger necro) if zergs are having problems dealing with enemy necros i suggest they learn to use the real broken class more effectively: warrior.

might i suggest you first drop all your wells in the moment of impact with the enemy zerg and then use axe skills instead of thinking your a heavy armor class and going straight in for the dagger kill during the highest spike in damage in the entire fight? my dagger necro gets plenty of dagger kills. and for the record i use axe/dagger dagger/focus

This is probably the absolute most damage you will ever see out of torment I made it because someone told me torment is not and never will be a useful condition.

So basically, they’re still useless? Elementalists and Necros already have the wall suppression covered and they work in open field too. Wall sieges are a very small part. A lot of the fighting is defending offensive siege or trying to push into a keep against another force.

not really most necro only have real range on their staff and honestly a great necro doesnt run with staff. i feel if mortars became self firing and engi got a kit to place additional turrets at range we could see more use from them more range and penetrating arrows from rangers would make them more usefull in tower fights.

I feel thief requires an effective bunker build with cleave options. and ranger needs just longer range and make all their bow skills penetrating. engineer however needs a total rework. engineer mortar should be self firing. their shield should have a ward on it and they should have turret kit. one that drops high health low damage turrets with specific effect. engineers should be the defensive line that provides cripple weakness and blind on the front lines. while ranger should be the long range artillery that can shoot straight to the rear lines or hit everything on the front line with easy or at the very least be the only class that is effective firing up/down from walls

The goal is a simple concept with many obstacles and has yet to be truly accomplished by anyone. The plan is to create a single community that has presence in not only guild wars 2 but also every other game. Let us be realistic we play games for fun and when we get bored with a game we leave it and when we do we leave all of the friends we have made never again knowing if any of them happen to be in the same game as you. Now that you are part of elites that is a thing of the past because as each member leaves the game they will cause a ripple and start Elites Community in the game they switch to they will inform me of this and I will provide them with their own channels in our voice server which for now is a free raidcall. Soon as the community grows I will build a personal mumble server for the guild. Each game will have its server and contact information available on this website and in addition each guild will have its own space in our forums but we will all be a channel switch away in our voice chat we will all be a click away in the web page chat room. All members will be accessible thru google+ we have a community page there where you may add your favorite players from the community to your personal circles.

As a member of Elites you are now part of my grand plan however I do not know what role you will fulfill in this plan. Are you the player who simply plays with us or are you perhaps one of the guild leaders who forges the path into a new game. or are you one of the officers whom i trust with running the communities resources or maybe your an officer to the guild leaders.

With the mention of Devonas Rest that will be the server our guild in GW2 represents and assists. Since this guild is cross server and cross game even we must provide certain conditions all WvW communications will be done in the DR Team speak I personally will run both chat clients to keep both forms of communication open. Only players in DR will be given access to the DR team speak. Gold donated to the guild will be be utilized to assist players who desire to transfer to assist us in making DR a more effective WvW server.

Where do you see those statements and actions? It does not look like that.

I actually do play necro as a main in WvW my ele is actually my dungeon class and my guardian is my upcoming zerg support class for when the zerg doesnt have enough front line players. i tried TREM classes every single one of them i tweaked around with them in the mists to see if there was ANY survivable damage or tank focused builds the problem with them is they are all skirmish and evasion based which means nothing when the ground is one giant red circle a thief can be in stealth all he likes but if he thinks he is going to do anything more than pick off someone from the very back of the enemy ranks then get merced because he went to the back alone he is fooling himself. if an engi thinks he is going to start dropping turrets within range of the enemy he is crazy those things will get blown up before they even finish deploying.

Necromancer these monsters on the field have two primary build preferences condition or power condition builds focus on dealing excessive amounts of bleed with some weakness/fumble and cripple and blinds to debilitate the enemy to reduce their outgoing damage to support the tanks while dealing significant damage themselves. this build is usually countered by a decent warrior. power build necromancer are often known as “well bombers” a very honest metaphor in my opinion they usually run with trait to make wells use ground targeting well of corruption well of suffering and well of darkness (with chill on blind) the combination of these three wells deals an average of 3k per tick per target (up to 5 targets per tick per well) but the real power of these wells is one of them puts both blindness and chill on each target hit another strips the warriors and guardians of their boons (easily the most powerful part of their builds) and stacks conditions on those warriors and guardians based on the boons removed and the other simply deals impressive damage enough to force anyone who stepped in it to spend their heal or endurance to dodge out of the well. while this is all pretty impressive and incredibly destructive let us not forget bombers are heavily armored slow moving behemoths to that end we have death shroud giving the already 20k+ necro healthbar another 12k along with a few more offensive skills to keep the necromancer dealing sufficient damage while he waits for his wells to come off cooldown for another bombing run. if the necromancer does not feel threatened after finishing his bombing run he will usually use either plague or lich form to dish out conditions or raw damage based on that characters power/condition damage ratio. the chaos of plague is substantial while the damage of lich form is just cruel 5 bone minions will follow and attack whoever you use your lich form auto attack on which can and will crit for 5k because of the stat bonuses you obtain while in lich form. you can burn a thief in a single lich form auto attack if you have already summoned your bone minions. All of this aside the weapon skills on necromancer are not powerful compared to those of the other units of GWEN but still outshine TREM by a small margin.

Now then the question stands with 8 classes why are only 4 of them ZvZ useful? I understand warrior being the most powerful it happens balance issues happen and sure i understand thief being worthless its kinda the class is build for 1v1 whats it going to really do in 10v10 but why hate on Rangers? what is war without a bowman? What is war without engineers? And mesmer is so unique it has unstoppable potential as a strategic class. lets see more effective glamours or some true chaos storm.

These four classes have utter control over the battlefield in WvW. Other classes have minor niches they are welcome to fill but outsider of roamers and support roles Thief Ranger Engineer and Mesmer or TREM for short.

TREM Classes are useful in roaming still but when it comes to team play they are lacking. however each class has one or two builds where they can be of useful support for example Venom thief spirit ranger or heal mantra/glamour mesmers.

GWEN however has their roaming builds and their support builds while they are also capable of performing ZvZ damage or damage sponging. GWEN classes have high survivability and high front end damage, I will explain reasoning for each Class below.

Guardians are heavy armored and are equipped with two survival class mechanics and one damage centered class mechanic, these mechanics are labeled virtues and while they are minor they are sufficiently effective at keeping a guardian alive and dealing significant damage in every potential build. In addition to this guardians have a “ward” on both their hammer and their staff to provide area denial in team fights which a single ward will split the enemy zerg into those with and those without stability to instantly separate the enemy zergs heavy and tank focused players from their damage focused players.

Warriors every weapon a warrior wields is a beating stick let us not dodge around that bush. their survivability in zergs is astonishing thanks to their unrivaled condition removal and their surprising mobility for a heavy class. the adrenaline class feature provides very effective utility/damage spikes based on your weapon used but is ultimately not as defensive as those on the guardian.

Elementalist these guys are easy enough to kill but they have two significant options they can go either dagger/dagger and build a little more survival into their baseline stats or they can go full zerker and go staff either one will deal significant damage in a flashy aoe style that only the next class on the list can hold a candle to. The class mechanic on elementalist is the most powerful it opens up 4 skill bars based on your weapon instead of one. this allows dagger/dagger players to have an unlimited amount of sustainable aoe dps, while it allows the staff players to have access to a “ward” a “stun circle” one large radius team regen one small radius team burst heal and one auto attack aoe heal (team heal via auto attack is only available via the guardian elite support book) a push a team swiftness a projectile reflect and an escape. not to mention the most impressive selection of combo fields in the game.

Just play both and see what you like. One thing I’d say is light armor on the human-like species is awesome if you want to dress provocatively.

anyway i had to say that first but otherwise he is right they are the games two classes that are completely unlike any other class if you add ele they are the triforce specialization.

necro tanky aoe damage in either raw damage or condi dependent on build great at team play in WvW and decent in pve tho mild failure at running portions is a possibility

Thief WvW roamer and party walking stealth stick dont attempt to enter the fray you can and will get spiked from something you never saw coming. however in the mists it is the best isolation class you will find that ele that is wrecking your team and that ele will be dead before it can reach its break stun.

Ele team support kings of all game modes. second best heals in the game behind guardian most crowd control in the entire game running 4 ele weapons will give your team enough burst dps to drop a boss in 10 seconds

for the sake of being a team player and helping you out ill list the rest of the classes as well

guardian best heals in the game the support book is flat out OP also the most balanced class useful in all situations in pve it has tanky stats yet it has swiftness for the group as well it has minimal crowd control but in WvW it is the team speed stick and the last man standing at the end when your team gets wiped in pvp its always welcome because it gives the team several buffs at regular intervals along with its great healing

warrior the undeniable GM favorite the only class you never fear a nerf on you hit like a truck and are almost as armored as the guardian yet with the exception of banners all of your skills are pretty damage focused you have very high burst almost on par with a thief tho your ability to stay on your target is less than that of a thief in WvW you are in the front lines with the guardians however instead of being support your job is to drop banners and drop bodies in pve you are the zerker you go in with a massive 4k Attack power and cut the bosses throat out in pvp you usually run hammer/bow abusing knockdowns and ranged attacks when an enemy attempts to kite you.

mesmer class most similar to a thief its second best condition class in the game and best team tactics class in WvW we are talking time warp to improve team dps stealth and portals for the stomping and clones to present a target to the enemy that isnt even there. in pve you are steady dps and great at assisting new players the most solo capable class when it comes to your team getting wiped in pvp you do really well in low tiers but when things start to enter the meta tier you arent welcome in the slightest

ranger well balanced class usefull in all game modes like the warrior except the gm’s dont love you so your more balanced with the rest of the classes you have nothing you excel in but also nothing that will utterly destroy you in WvW you can roam you can zerg in pve you are either raw or condi damage and either ranged or melee in pvp your a counter weight you troll the warriors with slows and immobilizes while you pot shot the ele to keep them out of the fight

engi you are everything and nothing flame engi are welcome in wvw and certain pvp matches and a few pve fights bomb engi are welcome in wvw grenade engi are wvw and pve pistol/rifle engi are pvp turret engi are amazing roamers in WvW and decent cap holders in pvp and all of these builds are semi stackable with each other engi is a class you have to try for yourself then wonder why the gm’s dont give them a little more raw damage or condition potential

went back and tested it and it isnt working the way it did back when i ran venom support it used to only pick from skills currently on CD so i switched it out to the reduced RC on venoms which is more reliable even if i cant use them immediately after combat starts i only have about 12 seconds from after the last poison to when i can start the first poison again which is still pretty effective and this way i can keep them rotating more efficiently during long fights

if you wanna be a necro that tags everything and supports his zerg why not go well bomber? necro have this beautiful ability to carpet bomb the battlefield every 40 seconds with massive damage boon corruption blindness and chill it forces the enemy zerg to break its formation and gives your team a headstart in the team fight on the otherhand you blow all your CD at the start and you have no utilities in your special so if your not a kitten good necro you will drop like a rock but you know it works for me

It is a full blown team support thief probably the most support you could get out of any class with the arguable exception of the reflect guard. I want to know if this works on the larger servers during WvW because I already know it shreds the field when fighting zergs under 50 people.

The base play style of this build is to party up 4 necro/dd ele to spread the venoms quickly, jump in with basilisk venom then 2 seconds later drop your heal venom then drop the rest of the venom at 2-3 second intervals to make use out of the heals you are giving and not blow 20 stacks of might when guards are giving 12 stacks already. once all 5 venoms are on cooldown you use steal to reset them and you do the cycle again. you spend the time from then thru the finish of your cooldown spamming “tags” so you can get some credit for the kills you helped earn. or singling out specific players to abuse with S/D even tho your damage will be low you can keep them under weakness cripple and immobilize.

The alternative play stlye for small groups vs small zergs is to give your party all 5 venoms right before combat starts then open combat with a steal and reapply venoms immediatly to create a burst big enough to instantly overwhelm the enemy. (dont try this with pugs that dont know what venoms do)

So who is willing to test this in their servers for me? Also any suggestions to tweak the build are welcome

Take this build and party up with the 4 best aoe bombers in your guild preferably necro or dagger ele go in using a poison about every 2-3 seconds to make sure they get to get full use out of the heal then once all 5 poisons are on CD you use steal to reset CD and use poisons again feel free to find and ctrl+T people you recognize are tearing up the field because you will be insanely tanky on this build.

YOU personally will do almost no damage you need to rely on using the poisons you gave yourself and your shortbow skills to tag people so you can get some credit for carrying your guild to victory

^ is actually an interesting build its got the bunker and the nuke going and it seems more effective in roaming and pvp than regular WvW but at the same time thats good because we dont have many roamer builds available

Well for the sake of trying it i will post this here as well

Elites community on Devonast rest recruiting all players of all levels for WvW you must be on devonast rest to join due to the WvW nature of the guild. We take all classes use the servers team speak in combination with our own private raidcall to allow optimal communication. I will have map tracking available for all members to sign up for so that you can always have every guild member marked on the map for you. PVE players are allowed in the guild but must be repping or donating superior siege to contribute to our war upgrades and our ability to take raids more often. Our goal as a guild will be to increase the range of coverage that DR has so in the nature of that goal we will not have a specific timezone we will recruit and operate around the clock.

Oh I just remembered, instead of corrosive pioson cloud you can go spectral wal and pick up the terror trait. Drop it right when two factions clash and you tag a lot op people, while also giving your allies protection.

Uhm what? Don’t think you’ve played much wvw. Right when 2 groups collide is when everyone will have stability up. Spectral wall is actually useful if you save it and when the tail is trying to regroup on their commander and you fear them off to be picked off.

this is a good point and is actually important never forget about what happens right before collision a lot of teams stack which is why corrupt boon skills are absolutely devastating

Its not how high it hits. Its how long it takes to hit that high. 15k over 3 seconds is bad. Especially when warrior can hit 50k with a 3 second channel that cleaves. Other classes have similar skills aswell.

50k is twice that of a HIGH hp player and i dont believe i have EVER been one shotted in pvp so lets think of things in real apples to apples terms and stop Q_Qing about things warriors can/cannot do axe 2 deals 12k pvp damage unbuffed easy that is huge spike damage even tho it takes almost 3 seconds to finish very few classes other than thief can boast that kind of single target single skill damage.

honestly i feel like we should focus less on the stealing of siege and more the destruction of it for example its really only rams that get left infront of every objective how about if there is not an active door that the ram can deal damage to the ram gets destroyed automatically and all players not in combat can destroy an enemy siege with simply a 5 second channel?
