Yeah, this thing looks pretty kittening disgusting.
Well Of Precognition
They only previewed one single well and that alone sounds really overpowered.
But hey, im sure theyre not going to overdo it. Surely the long cooldown (which can be countered with the new class mechanic) will balance it. /sarcasm.
Not only that, but so far i had the hope that the new specialisations werent just outright superior to normal lines (despite the name ‘Elite-specialisation’). This really seems to not be the case.
I’m sure we will get access to skills from another profession also, no need to worry. This seems to be the entire point of specializations anyways.
I dont want other classes’ skills. I want necro-style skills/traits that are actually good. To FINALLY get things necro was supposed have. Like good boon rip for example. Or awesome wells. But no, it seems like the only way we get awesome necro skills is when anet decides to give them to a different class.
(edited by RashanDale.3609)
Okay, I don’t care about turret nerf, it is whatever, but if people like you can’t understand that if you killed the rocket turret then turret engies were screwed then you are bad.
3 people? lel.
Oh wow. it’s like you didnt even read the posts/conversation you’re quoting there.
These new changes have too many “bellow health treshold” kind of traits in my opinion. Devs can do better.
still way better than ‘on death’. especially Spiteful renewal looks way better than parasitic bond.
(edited by RashanDale.3609)
5. Vampiric Ritual- Allies can now lifesteal while inside the Wells. Synergizes well with Well of Darkness + Chilling darkness(Chill on blind) trait.
I dont see the synergy there.
Worst changes out of any class, IMO. Especially the forced minion traits. Why are we going back to forcing players to use minion traits as minor traits? It took us like 2 years to get away from that.
If I’m taking Unholy Sanctuary, why would I want protection on minions that I’m not using? Why would I want minions to siphon health when I’m not using minions?
Basic balance 101.
Are you kittening kittened? You get a normal effect for your necro with those minor traits. That it also affects minions is just a bonus. Seriously, this is not that hard to understand.
It’s nowhere close to the old minion-only minors.
The weird thing is, you do not have to be a brilliant game designer to fix the necromancer in GW2. All it took to fix the mesmer in GW1, was changing Panic. This instantly made it possible for the mesmer to be viable in dungeons, because now the mesmer finally had an aoe nuke skill. Yet it took them SIX YEARS to make that one change.
It wasnt just Panic. Actually, Panic isnt even used that much. They overbuffed a lot more mesmer skills to ridiculous levels, like wandering eye, ineptitude, mistrust.
Other than that, i agree. A few changes would go a long way to make necros way more viable, yet they cant be kitten d to do that.

I’m not saying this is a good idea, but just a cool sounding one.
Add a trait that makes chill do damage.
Frostbite…
I had something like this in mind. but unlike terror/fear, it would deal direct damage whenever chill is applied, similar to halting strike.
would need an internal cooldown tho, so plague and wod wont become too ridiculous.
Those two don’t grant reflection.
Options are good.
WELL NO kitten SHERLOCK
my point is: instead of throwing more spectral traits at the game, i would prefer it if one of the two that already exist are changed to provide reflect.
What two?
two traits for spectral skills
As far as skill changes and finishers, I’m really surprised nobody suggested making Necrotic Grasp a 100% finisher yet.
thats definitely been suggested numerous times already. i just didnt feel like repeating it again.
let say it only give 4-6 stack of 15-20 second might instead of 10 stack of 12 second might, it also doesnt do any damage whatsoever to the foe, while we are at it we can increase the duration of the bleed to 15 second too.
Considering how elementalists and others are allowed to get ridiculous might stacks with very little effort, i think it could easily be 5 stacks for allies, 10 stacks for yourself and an increased self bleed.
(edited by RashanDale.3609)
We could add a trait to make spectral skills reflect. I feel like that’d be interesting.
we could also just use one of the two that already exist.
Spectral Wall is already great as is. I’d rather see something like Corrosive Cloud destroy projectiles.
i’d prefer to have projectile destruction on corrosive cloud aswell, since spectral wall already has some good effects, while corrosive cloud doesnt have a lot going on.
but im not sure if projectile destruction would actually help necromancers. wouldnt dungeon runners (and people who do the vinewrath on midlane) still prefer reflects cause of the damage?
spectral wall could get the reflect with spectral attunement tho, that would give people a reason to use the trait. if that happens, it needs some life force related addition, i think. like 2% life force for every reflected projectile or something.

I’d sell my house to buy this skin
ugly, oversized greatsword skins is pretty much the last thing we need more of.
However i think dark pact should be left as it is. Its fine. A cooldown reduction would be nice but it doesnt really need it.
maybe it’s fine, but, compared to other skills, it really doesnt do a whole lot. 3 seconds immobilise, 600 range and really long cooldown.
While magnetic grasp for example has higher range, shorter cooldown, shorter cast time, is also a gap closer, a projectile finisher and a leap finisher. Oh, and it’s also unblockable
Im not asking for dark pact to become as overstuffed as magnetic grasp, but a higher range and an additional effect would be nice.
I still dont think Enfeebling blood should be a blast finisher. it just doesnt look like one. And i dont like trying to fix things by just slapping blast finishers on everything (like they did with elementalist).
(edited by RashanDale.3609)
My issue is with lack of a 100% certain way to get a fractal skin. Cause that’s what i would deem worthy to put my time into that.
I agree. if there was a certain way to get the fractal sword without any RNG bullkitten, i’d start doing fractals right now.
we already have a fractal currency, they could just add more usage to it… more skins, infusions etc, so we don’t need to farm until it drop, but until it drop OR until we have enough currency
they havent even added all the new stat combinations of the rings yet. (pristine) fractal relics is just such a kitten currency. thrown into the game and then forgotten about a few weeks later.
No. theyre gone. And i really really hope they stay gone.
if we ever get a new race it should be more original than generic small humans.
i’d rather they retcon krait and let us play one of those. if theyd start giving a kitten about beast races and stop with the awful armor stretching, that is.
That’s it guys, we’re looking at the new and improved ANet response time. I was hoping the sub 24 hour bug fix wasn’t a one time thing, and it seems like they are much more prepared to actually address power issues quickly.
arent you a bit quick to have hope again?
thats been only 2 tiny changes.
1.step up the balancing. tiny changes at this glacial pace is just pathetic
2.fix necro already
not sure about no.3., maybe
3.nerf guardian
uhm, guys, i really think this is just a parody of this moron and his thread:
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/pvp/Necromancer-rework-ideas
Could this be a breakaway from berserker only meta?
I sure hope so
we would only trade the zerker meta for a condi-meta or a zerker/condi-meta. still no kittening variety.
If you’re trying to give someone in condi gear a physical damage skill, you can’t make it scale on power, otherwise they’ll still hit like a wet tissue.
why do you say that as if high base damage and scaling are mutually exclusive?
Really, the only way to fix it is to make it conditional. Do damage, gain LF, but also if target has less than X condis gain extra life force, if target has X or more do extra damage. Simples. And it would make sense to make the bonus damage a flat amount and not have it scale with power, so it would actually be useful for conditionmancers without letting powermancers 1-shot people!
Letting it scale with both many conditions and few conditions just makes the skill incredibly spammy.
basically no matter in what state the enemy is, just throw feast on him/her and you get something useful, either damage or LF.
Also, it should scale at least a little bit, so that carrion necromancers get some use out of it too.
So far i like rising dusks idea with the lifesteal the most.
(edited by RashanDale.3609)
It’s an interesting idea, but having a complete bar of 10 skills as your class mechanic is a bit much.
Also, if those skills are always the same, no matter the build/utilities/weapons, all kinds of necro builds would feel very same-y.
And giving the necro a lot of things other classes have to use utility slots for ‘for free’ on these skills sounds kinda lame.
why am i not surprised at all?
get your kitten together, anet.
If I find any other skills that should, I’ll update this.
-Vingam
Why is Life Blast always ignored? It behaves like a projectile, can be reflected, yet still no projectile finisher.
And since it’s supposed to be something special, a class mechanic, and is just so kittening slow, 100% projectile finisher would be appropiate.
Same thing with dark path.
Also, spoj is right: at this point pretty much every aspect of necro and its shortcomings has already been discussed multiple times. Since this game is so stagnant, theres no point to do it again.
Skill #3 on Wand.
You have a Power-based skill on a Condition-based weapon.
If the intention is for this skill to be some form of burst, shouldn’t the damage be buffed?
It definitely should. I really like the idea of the skill, mixing some direct damage that is tied to your conditions into your setup, maybe as some sort of finisher. You load something up with conditions then use this to do some good burst.
But it needs higher base damage (and maybe higher scaling aswell) for that, so that it does reasonable damage even with rabid or carrion gear.
Actually, damage increase per condition and LF could be buffed aswell. To something like 8%% LF per condition and 10% damage, but with a higher cooldown.
(edited by RashanDale.3609)
What skins do you think will go well with your Necromancer? Post a pic’ and explain, please.
Sunless would look pretty good on a necromancer, as might cobalt and ascalon catacombs greatsword.
Will probably just use the Felblade until i can decide
Not likely to happen given the bar will be re-purposed with the Heart of Thrones expansion to show ‘Mastery’ level, and not experience gains.
i dont need to see that either.
agree with OP. any option to remove some of all this clutter on the screen would be great
kitten is there anything they didnt break with this update?
anet really needs to start testing this kitten before throwing it in the game.
It’s bugged. Please emergency fix!
sure. in like half a year.
I hope not. Kinda tired of greatsword, especially for cloth.
funny thing: with ele, light armor would be the armor class with most greatsword availability.
@topic: Please no, anything but more kittening greatswords please
I did giggle when i saw that. x)
Surprised they didnt stealth fix them. They usually dont admit to such major bugs if they can help it.
maybe they just needed something to make the patchnotes look bigger.
“Look guys, we’re actually doing something, look!”
As of today it provides 1 stack of 3-second Stability on entering Death Shroud.
Not even mentioned in the patch notes.
yup. this wouldve been a perfect time to buff this trait a bit.
but at least we got all those awesome downed state changes, huh? Yaaaaaay
(edited by RashanDale.3609)
Btw, there is already a thread for Necro Spec name speculation.
No need to keep spamming this Death Knight crap.
Can you please, like, not?
Can I not what?
I stopped there. This is Guild Wars 2, not Goat Simulator.
My hero needs to look like kitten in armour, not like sheep in field.
Thank you for understanding.
If you didnt even bother to read more than the first sentence, why even respond? Why not just shut the kitten up instead?
I like the charrs’ posture. It’s fresh, it’s something unique and a little bit more realistic. Why would you even play a beast race if a generic human figure with a furry head is what you really want?
You should pay TESO a visit. Khajiit and Argonians look just as generic and boring as you want charr to be.
ANet’s daily class algorithm has a pretty sick sense of humor. How many Engi days have we had in the past week? Fo’real……
It’s not just Engi, even tho it certainly feels like Guard/Engi is there every other day.
If i counted right, durin the next month therell be:
Guard 11
Engi 10
Thief 9
Ele 9
Warrior 7
Ranger 5
Mesmer 4
Necro 3
maybe it’s just their favourite classes? :P
(edited by RashanDale.3609)
Wee Vern?
Wü Vern?
Dragon?
ill probably stick to those three, just to annoy people
Coolest one is Mjölnir imo.
entropy and the ascended hammer are also pretty good, depending on the colour.
but since i barely use my warrior with a hammer, she only got the Icebreaker ^^
I dont understand the point of this thread.
You simply assume some garbage on your own and then whine about it?
The revenant is NOT a kittening undead. Just someone who was absent for quite a while, busy in the mists.
The goal of this change is to make the boon non-binary
What kind of reason is that? Why do you want to make it non-binary? why is that a good thing?
and to increase the benefit of using stability-granting abilities at the most opportune time in order to absorb the most control skills possible.
uhm, thats how it already worked. If it was your concern that players didnt really have to time it correctly, why didnt you just decrease the duration then?
To which we say: Your corruptions and boon removals will clear the boon completely, unless otherwise noted.
Uh-oh, this doesnt sound good If it was your concern that you didnt have to time stability correctly, why didnt you decrease the duration then?
edit: nvm, for reasons unknown i didnt consider stability stacking from multiple sources
This is completely unrelated, but have you ever thought about giving stunbreaks some very short stability aswell? like 1 stack for 2 seconds, so that youre not stunned again immediately after?
(edited by RashanDale.3609)
and what exactly would be the point for doing that? the combat system was designed so that player skill > passive defense.
if a good player can avoid taking damage by being skilled enough and game understanding/knowledge, then thats good design.
The point would be to get some kittening variety.
As long as zerker is the highest DPS option, it will be top choice for PvE. And since the entire idea of ‘berserker’ is a glass cannon, I don’t think it will ever not have the highest damage output in general.
when we come to a point where a party of full zerker just cant stay alive and it becomes more viable to invest a bit into defensive stats and healing power, then other stat setups than 5 full zerkers will be the highest damage output.
The easiest way to start with that is by increasing a mob’s sustained damage and number of attacks. so you just cant get by with only dodges and stuff.

to me its because they don’t cut you when hit (well i guess a spiked mace might be ok ) to me necromancers use blood to make their spells work so anything that doesn’t make it readily available to infect or corrupt doesn’t make much sense to me feel free to disagree of course
Fair enough. That makes a surprising amount of sense; never thought about it that way.
Thanks!
How can you know what the weapon you don’t want may do? And since you cannot know, why do you assume not to want it?
Casters are exceptions, but the other classes use the weapons how theyre intended to be used.
A Guardian wont suddenly grab a longbow and use it exclusively to smack people in melee combat. Or cast heal spells on allies. He would shoot with it.

necro getting maces or hammers just doesn’t make any sense at all
getting sword main hand would be cool though
why does this not make sense? Necros have always been the more brutal of the casters. If axes fit necros, hammers and maces fit too.
Leave the elegant stuff to the fancy mesmers.
-snip-
Weird. I saw the very same discussion just two days ago. generally i agree with what you said, with some exceptions.
Just a few things:
1. I dont think reliable, active procs are automatically bad when they dont change the way you use their triggers. As long as they make the gameplay of your build really feel different.
The caltrops-dodge of thieves (Uncatchable) for example. Usually you wont suddenly burn dodges just because you have that skill, but the effect is noticeable (im not saying anything about how strong or weak the trait is). Noticeable enough that, in my opinion, this trait is fine designwise.
2. The ‘X% chance on crit to apply Y seconds of condition Z on critical hit’. Theyre not active at all or noticeable. But theyre a staple of a lot of classes/condition trees and I like them because they present a small for condition specs: you can go for dire/carrion/whatever and increase your tankiness/direct damage or you can go for crit chance for more condition damage.
These traits are usually in a place that you get them anyway when you build for conditions, so there isnt really much of a choice involved either.
So, as long as these are int he spots of adept or master minor, i dont mind those passive and not-gameplay-changing traits all that much.
If the condition-issue gets fixed however, i wouldnt mind it if Anet removes them all and gives chars a chance to apply bleed on crit by default.
3.About your colour-coded pictures:
Why do you suddenly call all active procs passive procs aswell?
‘Determined resolution’ is painted as ‘bad’, when it’s actually kittening awful. it’s an inferior bark skin and the percentage is so small that you wont notice it at all. All those “+5/10% damage/whatever”-traits are the first things i would remove.
‘Shrouding mists’: In terms of design, this is a good trait. while the damage-percentage is still too small to be noticed, the 25% healing is good. This would definitely change your playstyle and energy-spending habits.
‘Roiling mists’ on the other hand isnt ‘cool stuff’, it’s another, bad passive effect, 10% crit chance are hardly noticeable and this wont change your behaviour at all.
Which is kind of confusing, considering you want more ‘active’ traits that change your playstyle and dont like passive passives.

Omg, these last posts…
Can’t you guys see what those Revenants are doing to us, the Necro-community? It’s trying to splinter us! Don’t let this happen! Forget about Glint or Shiro! It’s important that we stay focused on our new enemy!
You mean the Mallyx Revenants we’ll pop like balloons? :p
Really, I don’t see anything in the reveal that will give Necros trouble against Revenants. Overall poor condition removal and a lack of stunbreakers is pretty harsh to play with.
So, fighting Revenants, I’m not concerned about in the slightest. Justifying your party slot when they could have brought a Revenant is a different story.
We’ve still only seen 2 of the legends and 3/5 traitlines. What exactly makes you so sure that there wont be any more condi hate on revenants?

Rather have offhand sword, EVEN if that’s only two skills.
Count again. New offhand for thief means new dual wield skills aswell.
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Dual_skill
A new offhand would give thief 5 new skills in total.
Staff ranger. I dislike the fact that ArenaNet immediately thinks everybody’s Ranger is a hippy who spends their time practising nature magic, and methodically planning the best way to violate plants. I won’t even specialize my Ranger, because I dislike the theme of the druid so much and it’s staff.
Guild Wars ranger have always had some nature magic mixed into their skillset.
Some people like to design characters outside of the cookie cutter generic stereotypical version of each profession.
Youre apparently not one of those people. Cause i dont see staff as generic and stereotypical for a ranger at all, if i compare it to other games, where it’s often just Archer+Pet.

(assassins of ancient times used katana’s with a two handed grip as well so that would make sense thematically)
Assassins using big, twohanded weapons? You really sure about that? Oo
I highly doubt that was ever the case.
also, one skin doesnt make an entire weapon type reasonable.
how does rifle not fit the theme of the thief and how do you know about everyone’s minds?

i’d love to have it back. along with the old borderlands (they could at least change one of the three borderlands to it).
The Capricorn is now an airship, it hovers there and the water is removed completely. Add a seawall of some description if need be (I don’t remember what was in the “out to sea” direction of the map) and maybe make the seabed slopes down to the middle cap point less steep.
wouldnt mind it being turned into an air-map either, maybe with gliders and updrafts.
2) it wasn’t HIS scream/power. it was just unleashed dwayna energy (most likely corrupted by abaddon) that he absorbed from emperor when he assassinated him (the energy was given to the emperor at the Harvest Ceremony and you can see the whole process on gw factions trailer)
It definitely was HIS scream. it wasnt the emperor or dwayna screaming, it was Shiro. doesnt matter where he got the power from.
and absorbing the power from the emperor does make it HIS power, at least in my book.
