Why arenanet removed all consumables and sieges from Obsidian Sanctum?
There was so much fun! I spent a lot of time there with my friends. The only motivation to get the best armor was this zone, so I can kill people there more easily.
I played every day, because in Obsidian Sanctum was a lot of fun, but since arenanet “fixed” this place I and many of my friends gradually stopped to play Guild Wars 2.
Dunno about consumables, but the siege was pure cancer, especially in the beast arena. especially arrowcarts that can fire through the kittening roof.
and yes, it did affect wubwub, cause you have to get the supply somewhere.
if you can only have fun by griefing other ppl with siege, then you and your friends are not a loss for this game at all.

why geomancy with only 200 conditon damage?
and youre missing a sigil on dagger/whorn
technoblable from metrica
if theres one thing we really dont need more of it’s asuran technobabble and asuran plot devices pulled out of the writers kitten s
The idea of gaining an Aura as a skill w/ greatsword seems foreign to me.
i read that as ‘gaining an Asura as a skill’ the first couple of time and was very confused.
Elite Skill: Dark Pact
Elite Corruption skill. For 5s, your weapon skills have no cool-down but every skill use applies 5 stax of vulnerability to self for 5s. Consumes all stored Life force.
you might need a new name for that. dark pact is already a thing. also, why vulnerability? i’d prefer bleeding, cause thats more similar to HP sacrifice.
“Soul Barbs”: Consume all Life force. Apply a debuff to target for 1s per 10% life-force spent. Deal X dmg to target foe whenever a unique condition or boon is applied to target.
Good one. How exactly do you intend ‘whenever a unique condition or boon is applied’ to work? does that mean that if a target is already bleeding, further bleed stacks wont trigger it? or that a single bleed-inflicting attack only triggers it once, no matter if it applies one or three bleedstacks?
Maybee you should of elected him as captian for cheaper keys :P
Playing as the human gods fighting abbadon would of been pretty awesome too good job with that.
Or maybe: having to witness how abaddons fall is ruined by horrible writing and kittening scarlet
Will engineers finally be able to get rid of our hobo sacks? (AKA kit backpacks covering back items)
this.
also:
-will we get cosmetics for profession specific things, like kits, summons, banners etc.?
-will anet finally make pve/dungeons that encourage other specs/stats than kittening full zerker glasscannon? as in: content you just cant survive as a group of 5 glass cannons and requires some sort of defensive stats?
-will you bring some kittening consistency to your dozens of currencies and what you can buy with it? the vendors for ascended trinkets are still missing a lot of combinations, karma is almost useless etc.
-will we just once get some armor that is actually made for charr instead of awfully stretched human armor? (armor that is actually goodlooking, especially leggings and shoes)

Hooray for norn mesmers!
Many people would gladly change the “Thief” name to something quite cheesier I’m afraid.
So our specialisation will be ‘Elite Shadow ninja assassin’?
Well, the thief is a reworked assassin class from GW1. I’d say “Shadow”, “Assassin”, and “Sniper” all might make solid Specialization names.
So ‘Shadow Assassin Sniper of Elite Ninjas’ then?
im getting flashbacks of the typical gw1 kitten names
(edited by RashanDale.3609)

Oh yeah, I vote for bringing the Crenellated Sword back!
thats not a sword. thats a saw.
My thief was using the ’Whisper’s secret sword’ for a long time now. Still unrealistic but at least not a big huge chunk of metal. Switched to Bonetti’s now, since it became so cheap.
The Krytan weapons also look really good and back in the days they were one of the very few decent looking swords.
Im still using both the normal and the greatsword version of them.
Sadly, there are alot of pictures from kekai kotaki with amazing items, that are nowhere to be found ingame. It’s mostly the charr armor i’m missing.
On a side note
-Wells that last a couple seconds longer and would follow you, unless you trait them to be targetable – the trait would say “wells can be targeted, but are stationary”
you know, wells should at least keep SOME properties of a typical well. and an aura that you carry around with yourself isnt a kittening well anymore.
While I certainly would not complain about gaining the ability to use two swords, what actually makes more sense for thieves is single-wielding a dagger or a sword.
also, maces.
now i want that too!
also thumbs up for the mace.
so am I the only one that hopes that they will fix The necromancer in this expansion. I’m so fed up with being bottom of the barrel In pve.
What do you want to be fixed? Or what do you think need to be fixed?
I want a good power weapon tha t cleaves but i heard that we getting great sword so hurray. Second I want I good team oriented utility. most of the others classes have one. Ele has auras. Condition removal for guardian. rangers have their spirits. mesmer have their portal plus their endless reflects which makes them really useful. Also fix our life siphon and minion A I. It makes me feel bad when I take out my minion.
was it confimred that greatsword is going to be a power weapon?
i mean, we already have power melee, condition melee is kinda rare in the game and condition greatsword would also be kind of unique.
so am I the only one that hopes that they will fix The necromancer in this expansion. I’m so fed up with being bottom of the barrel In pve.
you still have hope? you must be new to the game and anet
If you want spammable minions there are still better ways to implement and gate their use than on-death.
The good old ‘summon minions with life force’-suggestion comes to mind.
rise? not really. the vast majority of roamers has always been thieves. at least to me it always seemed to be that way.
it's a shame that we still only have one single skill for it.WTB better Torment access as Necro.
Seriously….
at least one more trait and one more skill should be there.
As for the skills itself i like Life Blast’s heavy traitability, and would like to see the other skills having such as well.
Sadly the basikittenraited version could be a bit better. and some of the life blast traits are kinda underwhelming. like reaper’s might or healing life blast
(edited by RashanDale.3609)
So I was just throwing out ideas. Also, Do note that I didn’t say that minions that use corpses would replace the old minions now. And minions now are useless during boss fights so I don’t really see your point.
Yes, because the boss design is mostly kitten. But at least you CAN summon them, and with some fixes even successfully, i guess.
If they need corpses? not so much, unless they add trash to most bossfights.
Minions were not consistently good in the first game. Just because a skill isn’t good 100% of the time doesn’t mean it can’t be fun to use or in the game. Look at epidemic. Its a really powerful skill that has no use in a boss fight who doesn’t have any support form minions/underlings. Or Doom against bosses who are immune to Crowed control. Or Dhuumfire against destroyers. Or well of darkness against dredge. Or marks against objects. Or conditions against objects. or… I think you get the point
you got a point there. i was looking at it mainly from an WvW perspective.
My personal wishlist is for Rock Dogs, Raptors
This, maybe another hyena variant, wurms and colocals(maybe some other, smaller gryphons too) and im happy.

Necros and Rangers have the trait that improves damage by 50%. I think the Thief trait should be hybridized to improve damage by a smaller amount, or there should be a new trait improving damage.
Necros with a trait for improved poison damage? definitely not, im sure about that.
Btt: Thieves have a big collection of venoms already, actual poison is supposed to be rangers specialty. If anyone needs more poison, then thats rangers first.
say you were a charr cub at a fahrar, on one hand everyone is so proud of the warmachines your society built, on the other no one trusts or like spellcasters too much, even if you were gifted would you rather get your hands of that nice rifle that is a charr great achievement or learn some stupid magic that your instructor doesn’t even like?
if i suck at shooting a rifle, but am very talented at making things bleed and run away with magic, then i’d rather go for necromancy.
and as i said, i dont think it’s true that ‘no one trusts or like spellcasters too much’. i remember the elementalist-NPC in the personal charr story complaining about some occasional trust issues, but that’s pretty much it
The Necro trait increases Poison damage by 50%.
Potent Poison should increase duration and damage 33%.
No, rangers have that trait. and that’s a grandmaster (not that it’s worth the slot tho)
having duration/dmg increased by 33% would be too strong in comparison.
Yes.
Very amusing. And what about the rest of the quote?
what about it?
that didnt have to do anything with the question about what a thief is to me
I disagree. LB is high range single target burst. Beside the animation, the gameplay is like a sniper rifle.
It was just a joke
Why everyone thinks that if we’d get a rifle, it would be a direct dmg oriented weapon set? It could be a weapon with skills like scatter shot that applies bleeds, hilt hit that applies confusion etc.
When you give a sneaky dude a rifle, at least i think of long range, slow rate of fire, high damage. Which fits direct damage burst more than condition.
Charr haven’t abandoned magic and the ash legion does favor Necromancers over other casters. Although i can’t tell you why, I might have to look that up.
I guess Elementalists are just too flashy for sneaky Ash Legion-stuff. Why they dont also favor Mesmers however, this i dont know.
the only one that in my opinion, lore wise, doesn’t fit too much is charr, while charr themselves can be very adept magic users the past few centuries of lore turned their society towards metal and gunpowder and they are in a civil war with the fire magic using faction of their society making them more likely to be engineers and warriors than necromancers (and especially elementalists)
nah, there are lots of Charr with magic potential and they would be stupid not to use that. Charr dont care much about how they win, as long as they win. And that includes the use of magic.
There’s some prejudice when it comes to casters and fire elementalists especially, but nothing more.

Orders Would be awesome. Minions that actually use corpses.
I hope it never comes to this. It surely would make more sense but it’s very hard to make corpse-using abilities that are consistently good; similar to on-death-traits.
In GW1 it worked relatively well most of the time because you got plenty of corpses. but if there was a tough bossfight or enemies without corpses and you ran out of minions, you became almost completely useless.
I’d rather not be forced to run around and grind neutrals to get minions up before i can engage the actual enemy.
Curses as well. Although I can’t say how they’d work. I’d imagine that a Curse would be an AoE field that’d stalk people much like those trolls in Silverwastes do with their bug swarms. Hmmm. If I think of more I’ll let you know.
Basically, curses are skills with a duration, that stay on an enemy and deal damage over time or have a conditional effect.
A lot of them have been turned into conditions, ‘simple’ AoEs or illusions. Other still ‘sit’ on an enemy, but arent conditions:
-Signet of Vampirism
-Impale
So i guess, if we get more curse-like abilities, they’ll probably be like that or AoEs, but with subtler effects than most AoEs. But considering how much kittens already whine about conditions and how theres no counter to them, i doubt that Anet introduces more curse-like abilities.
Also, Bindingrituals are fitting and possible but may be too close to ranger’s spirit.
I thought of another name. Cultist. Might work actually.
unlikely. you need a cult to have cultists
I think it is more likely to be along the lines of Reaver but if I had to throw out an original idea? (I think it’s original anyway)
Dragon Age got Reavers.
but it’s one of the more probable candidates, imo. Along with Reaper. But there are already Reapers of Grenth and gods like grenth are a human thing.
Hexblade would be my personal favourite and would fit the necro well, but i never heard of it outside of DnD.
Maybe just ‘Hexer’ is an option?
(edited by RashanDale.3609)
two years from now and we will have greatsword thieves, greatsword eles and greatsword engies too!
i wouldve preferred hammer aswell. or torch.
The specializations will essentially be enhancements to the class. While you will lose access to some of the base class’ mechanics, by the time they have enough specializations to even worry about the base profession being neglected, there will be so many options that I doubt anyone would stick with the base profession.
Did they say anything about more specs or are you just pulling this out of your kitten
Considering Anets glacial pace, it may very well stay at 1 specialisation+default nec for a very long time.
I agree with bone king, and hope that SOMEDAY theyll remember actually fixing the kittening standard necro. it’s also likely that the new spec is going to have most of the issues the standard necro has. depends on how well the PvE content is made.
On a side note p/d has next to no chasing power seeing how shadow strike is restricted to making distance, not closing it and no land speed (in my eyes it is the second worst set for mobility after p/p).
Hey, it got that 1s immobilise and a whole THREE SECONDS of cripple on dancing dagger ;-)
I enjoy regular plain old necro- and I want it to be fixed for pve and not left behind in the dust!
but necro is ALREADY left behind and not fixed at all. just hope it doesnt get even worse
wasnt there a thread about this already? >_>
no idea what i should use. most greatswords are big, kittening ugly chunks that just look awful. or theyre not necro-y enough.
edit: the ascalon greatsword maybe. it’s somewhat normal in size and at least has that spectral glow at night.
(edited by RashanDale.3609)
But there is already a sniper spec in the game (LB ranger) so it would be a little bit redundant.
But thats not a sniper, thats a machine gun spec. ^^
I love the idea of rifle thieves, but a 1200 range burst weapon combined with stealth and thiefs insane mobility just sounds so broken. They really have to be careful with its skills
(edited by RashanDale.3609)
it would be preferable to have stuff like Blood is power or corrosive be made useful before we get new things. but anyway:
i hope for more corruption/blood magic/sacrifice spells in general. skills that are more extreme than what we have now; way more self-hurting but also more powerful.
and just something that is worth using in normal pve besides swalk and 2 wells.

I think siphoning, regen and other heals should work through deathshroud, but at reduced effectiveness. Either that, or that it would “heal” your life force pool. It’s such a shame how the Blood Magic traits really don’t synergise with our class mechanic at all.
Siphoning and regen should definitely not be reduced. Theyre bad enough as of right now.
When it comes to other source of healing, especially other people…well, that’s debatable. Easiest way to find out would be to try it and just pedal back if it’s too strong. BUt that would require anet to balance the game more frequently than three times a year.
Other than the healing-issue, my biggest gripe is probably Life Blast.
It’s a bit too slow imo and needs heavy traiting. By default, it’s just a mediocre attack to pass the time.
Life Blast should also apply one bleed at least, so it isnt THAT useless for condi builds.
ANd finally, make it a projectile finisher already. It behaves like a projectile in every other way so i dont understand why it isnt.
Dark Path: It would be cool if this gets split up like flanking strike. First part is the current projectile, which chills and marks the target. Second part is an instant teleport, that bleeds and chills the target again.
Tainted Shackles: I think it would be better if it immobilises if the target tries to leave the 600 range instead of how it works now (similar to pucks dream coil in DotA 2), so it is a better tool to keep enemies near you.
edit:
The different amounts of life force you start with should also have a little less variance, in my opinion. Doesnt have to be a set number; i’d like to see something like this:
-if LF is less than 20%, it slowly generates out of combat until it’s at 20%
-if it’s more than 80%, it slowly degenerates until it’s down to 80%
(edited by RashanDale.3609)
I dont like rat midgets and humans are usually kinda boring.
Since i already have a lot of sylvari and charr, it’s probably going to be norn. or human, if i manage to make one that fits to the class.
First of all, i dont get the whole duel-vs-random-pvp discussion here. Duels happen in the newly added arena, random pvp encounters in the jumping puzzle, dont they?
I also dont think the added arena is the reason why the jumping puzzle is dead.
Rewards are relevant because it’s a snowball effect.
Lots of reward-monkeys going to chest -> lots of
true PvPersgankers trying to hunt them -> lots of actual PvPers hunting the gankers. You take away the bottom tier, and the rest collapses.
Ragnar is right. if you take away the carrot (or if the carrot’s too small), then a lot of people just wont go there.
Badges from achievement chests are on of the issues. And as if that wasnt enough, now there arent even daily and monthly achievements for jumping puzzles anymore.
In addition to that, the pvp in the jumping puzzle was, at least for me, rarely how you described it. For the first few weeks it’s been a lot of fun, a lot of random fights, as people were still figuring out how to get through it.
After that most of the time it werent random encounters between players who want to get through the JP, but just a whole group of kittens camping at the top of the arena (often with arrow carts). And not only was that location the hardest part of the puzzle, but also the best chokepoint by far.
That had nothing to do with challenge, it was just boring and annoying.
If you want to restore what the OS was shortly after release, i think there needs to be a new JP, similar to it.
One that is rewarding, with some sort of incentive to get to the chest.
It also needs to be challenging. The OS hasnt been challenging for a long time anymore. That you could just get ported through most of it also kinda sucked.
Ganking people who were just trying to get to a chest, attacking people from behind whilst they chat to their mates, etc isn’t pvp.
If they chat and dont expect pvp in a pvp zone, then it’s their own kittening fault. doesnt mean that it isnt pvp.
They wouldn’t make current necro a specialization, because you cannot use one specialization’s abilities if you aren’t that specialization. Meaning you’d be locked from the class. They very specifically said that only Druids could use the staff, not all rangers.
The only way that I see specialization being just one is if it forced you into using new stuff somehow, meaning there would be a reason to not specialize. Otherwise its just an upgrade, and a lot of the stuff that they have said is meaningless.
I think calling the default necro, that we have right now, a ‘specialisation’ and then adding another one that gives you new skills but also locks you out of some of the current ones seems to be the most likely thing to happen.
it also requires the least amount of effort.
Let’s hope this GS is going to be a melee condition weapon. those are kinda rare right now. Still wouldve preferred a hammer tho, fits necro better and melee-necro with GS might be too similar to the Revenant, in my opinion.
I’d be bit of a let down to me, especially since I remember people on reddit mentioning that Arenanet hired an AI guy for Heart of Thorns.
who wrote the AI until now then? an intern?
i’d love to see that too.
but it’s just easier for them to chug out new stuff than fixing such a big mechanic for the entire game
what are youe ven talking about? welding torch jsut a torch? are you talking about environmental weapons? or weapons for classes?
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Welding_Torch
It took me like 5 seconds to just search ‘Welding torch’ on the wiki. Why is that too difficult to do for you?
Thief= basketball?
Wtf? Basketball players are 7 ft tall, can u tell me how they can be sneaky and not get caught if they try to steal something. lol
Lol why do I feel like there may be an implied racial joke xD
Is it bad that i was thinking that too?
It’s also weird because wasn’t the whole point of a Necro to be so insanely tanky?
well, so?
a point of necro also was ‘to be the class you CANNOT get away from’. and how did that turn out?
what the necro was supposed to be like doesnt seem to mean much.
(edited by RashanDale.3609)
these changes are intended to come after anet decided to fix heal and death shroud functionally otherwise it won’t solve anything
vampiric 9 second cooldown
siphon health when you hit a foe
life siphon damage: 1000
life siphon healing: 1000
I think thats an awful idea. The beauty of Lifesteal is that it scales with number of opponents. The more people you hit, the more you heal. And thats something necromancer really lacks: defense against multiple opponents. So at least the cooldown should be separate for each target.
vampiric ritual 15 second cd
siphon health when you cast a well
life siphon damage 200
life siphon healing 200
duration 5 second
how is this supposed to work? you drop a well, leech 200 life once over 5 seconds and then it’s on cooldown for 15 seconds? or do you then leech 200 life each second for 5 seconds?
Also, same as above, i prefer lifesteal to scale with the number of opponents.
other thing that would be nice to see changes on
ritual of life
add increase revive speed 10%merge quickening thirst with dagger mastery or change
reasonable stuff, cant say anything against that. even tho 10% revive speed wont help much. if you dont take the trait already, that little bonus wont change that.
blood to power
changed to increase damage to bleeding foes 10%
the current blood to power is just awful and this would definitely be an improvement. but i would rather get an interesting grandmaster minor (related to lifesteal) instead of boring, unoriginal ‘+X% damage if Y’ which are found everywhere. it also is too similar to Curse25.
(edited by RashanDale.3609)
At large, i would keep staff as it is.
Give Mark of Blood its 3rd bleedstack back and increase the direct damage-scaling, so that it becomes more useful for power necs.
And give putrid mark the cleanse on allies back.
thats all i ask for.
hmmm perhaps because it is a [trait] that causes the [shout] “shake it off!” to be activated when one condition is applied onto the warrior, and the [trait] lung capacity only reduces recharge time of [shouts] by 20% ? ? ?
so … this means …
[trait] lung capacity is working as intended, reducing recharge time of [shouts] for grape justice! shake it off! on my mark! fear me![trait] lung capacity will not reduce the recharge time of another [trait] shrug it off by 20% since [trait] shrug if off is a [trait] and not a [shout]
is that clear?
it’s pretty clear, yes.
the problem is that the game becomes inconsistent about that. [trait]last gasp of necromancers for example is affected by both [trait]spectral mastery and [trait]spectral attunement.
not that i complain about that, but i think either all such traits should work like that or none.
So far the "Home Portal Stones are nothing but a WASTE of GEMS !! Gee I can run around in my “Home Area” and NOTHING else, which is a totally MORONIC IDEA !!
If my character was able to purchase a house/apartment/ etc. it would be worth buying one, BUT just to teleport to an area that you CANNOT DO ANYTHING is a WASTE of Gems to purchase the Stones !!!! Is there going to be an update where characters can buy a “Home” or how about REFUNDING the kitten purchase price of the Stones and getting rid of the USELESS items, since they seem to provide NO PURPOSE !!!!
The way you talk/write immediately makes me want to disagree with you, no matter the subject.
back to topic:
is this portal stone character bound or does every char on your account get one?
is it an actual item that clogs up your inventory or does it just add a travel option somewhere in the HUD?
(edited by RashanDale.3609)
Phlunt? Taimi is the annoying, petulant, cheap pet character.
I agree. Phlunt isnt more annoying than any other rat. And at least he showed Taimi where her kittening place is.
Taimi is far more annoying.
