Those match ups arent that bad. You can still win if you are better…although sure its a disadvantage.

What will be bad is any rabid/settlers build (so almost the only viable ranger, necro and engi builds) vs diamond skin ele. Then you literally do have 0 chance. Even a rank 5 ele will destroy you. Everyone good at the game told anet not to put in more bs like diamond skin, but anet dont care. They just listen to baddies

i feel like engineer has better options to burst down that critical amount of hp even with rabid and ranger always has his pet at least and dodge+settlers rangers shouldnt dps anyway (trap ranger is really meh against it though) – necro on the other hand doesnt have that (unless you get elite and its not even that good) – best chance vs AR is a lucky burn proc into fear right before 25%

So diamond skin might not be thaaaat much of an issue for engineer depending on how much hp + burst ele will be able to stack

But overall i agree – flat immunity is not good game design and if you have little options to adjust it can be very frustrating. (again with ele its really not that much hp and eles will have to counterheal a lot depending on what stats they will actually be able to get with it – we’ll see)

Also i really dont feel that there is much room to outplay your opponent in these matchups (again unless you go out of your way to counter them to begin with) Everyone is invited to play me on whatever he thinks is actually balanced even though i dont play these classes lot i am very likely to win anyway.

This is something that has been bothering me a lot lately.
Some matchups are just ridicolously broken and even if you play very well, as long as the other person has the right build he will beat you.

For me in particular those are:

Any rabid amulett / condition burst build (not sure about carrion ranger with spirit rezz)

vs

necromancer(in particular 30/20/0/0/20 with staff + scepter dagger+plague signet)

Its a completely broken matchup – the necromancer literally just has to wait for either burn procs into instant fear or till he gets hit with enemy condition to reflect them and cause huge spikes. In addition to that consume conditions is a full condi cleanse on pretty low cd + shroudform gives the necro access to a very noticably bigger healthpool which is very good against condi with fixed damage. Id even go so far as to say that focusing a necromancer with condition pressure in a teamfight is detrimental to your team unless you know EXACTLY that all his reflects are on cd.

Against engineer(and other classes as well) you can also add signet of spite. Once you get hit by that its impossible to cleanse ANY damage condition (because of cleanse priority and lack of mass cleanses on engineer(elixir C is still dumb unless u really want to hardcouner with AR)) until spite pretty much ran out so all the bleed stacks and burn procs and poison are secure

On the other hand fotm Hambow warrior

vs

Necromancer

Is completely broken for the warrior with his abundance of CC and the lack of dodges on necro. + all the cleanses (F1 on very low cd + cleansing ire) and the direct damage warrior puts out + his stances that pretty much give him 20 second+ immunity (+lyssa) against fear which is just horrendous for terror necro.

As far as i have heard Mesmer vs Thief would be another extremely imbalanced matchup favoring the thief with his massive mobility and damage output against a serker light armor class. Also its really easy for the thief to avoid shatters especially with sword mainhand. I tried it once against a good mesmer and i literally just had to stick on him and autoattack dodge rolling on occasion. But i dont play neither thief or mesmer very much so i really wouldnt know.

The issue i have with these imbalanced matchups is that it forces the game into build wars 2. You bring 2 necros? ok i log on warrior.

This is an issue that affects all PvP (and WvW shudder) content. So please dont jsut give the generic “we will fix class balance in soloq” response. (Actually i think that forcing class balance on teams allows for exploiting by logging on certain classes.

Hardcounters cause the game to take less and less skill and depend more and more on setups. Please rework massive 1v1 class imbalances. Even if the game is being balanced around 5v5 + nodes.

Feel free to add other matchups which are extremely one sided and explain why but use tournament play as a basis. (Turret Engi is pretty good in ANY 1v1 but thats not the point)

For example, there was always a huge problem with AFKs in queue because there was no check after the queue popped. So what they added was a neat little popup that says “your game is ready. Accept? Y/n” AFKs are kicked from the queue if they don’t respond within 30 seconds.

Yea there should really be a ready check before the game starts….

A second one! – NO better yet – one that actually DOES something.

PLEASE ANET ADD MORE WAITING TIME! Its so much fun already – wait 5 mins for pop wait 2 mins for start – play approximately the same amount of time.

Better have an additional ready check before the actual ready check.

no necro no engi no ele

2 stance + duration + cleansing ire is imba against necros

1st serker stance for complete immune 2nd balanced for fear immune
hit f1 for condi cleanse and use lyssa elite when needed

20 seconds pretty much invincible vs necro (25 with lyssa)

.. so yea i think the stance duration is one of the issues.

But then again theres a lot of situations where it would work out differently. Having balanced stance on even shorter cd sure sounds like a buff to me.

Having berserker stance on shorter cd would also buff it to be more of an adrenaline pump again – which seems somewhat scary to me. Maybe reduce the duration to 5 sec on 45 sek cd? that would be more like a nerf.

Make Cannon dodgeable.

If cannon was dodgeable it would be borderline useless imo.

The main issue with the map is the availability of instant kills. Especially stealth knockback/pull from stealth is extremely op.

On the other hand i really like using non ordinairy builds on this map.

A minor change that i could see going well with people is to create a big Platform below the edges + blue glass floor thingies. So basically you would still be able to kick people off the edge or through the floor to buy a lot of time to cap. But instead of dieing, the guy who got knocked would just fall on a platform below.

On this platform there would have to be some way to get back up but it should require some time. You should still be able to die by falling when you get knocked off the edge of this lowest platform though

^This would also keep alive the idea of the map to encourage CC heavy play.

atually i think it would have helped a lot if you had specified a bunker build in opening post which u think is op as clearly people in here are talking about different builds individually.

I dont really care about AR – i guess it doesnt create good gameplay so you might as well nerf it or remove it for something else (good kit refinement hinthint)

the hardest counter to any condi heavy setup is not AR anyway but just multiple necros with condi reflect stacking – its unbeatable with a condition heavy setup

srsly if u think its extremely good just try it vs top teams if they are smart they can
a) kill you with 2 ppl reasonably fast (as long as one of them is condi – just like you counter bunker guard with condi as well..) or b) know how to counter using certain classes / builds

In a min-maxing world, sure.
But most fights aren’t more than 1v1s or 2v2s or not close enough that it matters (condi CDs don’t tend to be all that long) so the leniency on just blindly spamming condis is VERY high.

so just blindly spamming my 8 sek cd burn bomb is bad gameplay and needs a nerf but the 8 sek cd hammer F1 which is aoe + condi cleanse + stun is ok?

ok bad example we all know how op warri is and that its getting a nerf

other classes have strong skills on low cd as well though especially thief with no cooldown on strong spamable skills (but very squishy in return so yea). Ele burst might be scary next patch with fresh air trait and is only avoidable by random doge and its very low cd as well. Necro god of condi has fear for burst which is overall on a reasonably high cooldown with the death shroud 3 standing out because its instant and again very hard to avoid except for random dodge. (and war being op – just sayin..)

Mesmer imo the only class with a legit power build that kinda lacks in spam but they have illusions which last for a while in smaller fights to kinda make up for it (+bleed on clone crit)

Overall if there really is an issue with a certain skill being too strong it should be looked at individually and not as kitten kitten conditions op nerf plx

also with almost all conditions you get the chance to avoid the damage – twice

only exception being on crit procs which are indeed not creating good gameplay because they are unavoidable – they are also getting more and more important when damage on actual skills is reduced (like bleed reduction on necro weapons)(same thing with fire / lightning sigil tough i think? not sure – unavoidable dmg guys get it here)

OP Post sounds like drunken rambling to me – most of it barely makes sense.

Hes kinda right about necros lack of attack animation (which btw. is entirely not related to conditions themselves) and their 6 second (hi tooltip) burn proc i guess but barely anything he says makes any sense at all. (Also necro kinda needs this to compensate for being slow – best long range class atm imo – but staff is getting nerfed anyway )

I just picked a few..

-There is never a bad time to use Pin Down.
-There can be plenty of bad times to use Hundred Blades.

Ofc there is wtf? plenty of times – when opponent is dodgeing/avoiding when hes out of range? when you are in a 3v1 and shouldnt waste the cooldown?

missing pin down means no guaranteed F1 which is pretty kitten good as combo

with houndred blades i guess because it isnt a ranged skill you cant just always cast it but thats an issue of range vs melee so wtf?

As for conditions
Whether an enemy is at 5% health or 100% health, lay on the conditions, it doesn’t matter if you give an enemy with full health 10 stacks of bleeding or an enemy with low health 10 seconds of burning.
There is no punishment. Burn as much a possible, bleed as much as possible, poison as often as you can, spam that confusion, hit with torment on recharge. It’s not for damage, it’s for the times you couldn’t damage.

OfC you want to do as much damage as possible on a full hp person as possible so you use all your options

Not saying your suggestions are bad, but the concepts seems entirely too asuran to me, when engineer technology is supposed to be based on charr.

To sum up some of my previous complaints, there is a lot of Charr technology involved with Engineers as a whole, but no representation from the Asura. As an Asuran Engineer, I have a problem with that. Thus I have created the idea of “Golemtech”, the fusion of Engineer & Golemancy, for use by innovative and intelligent Engineers, Tyria over!

what you encountered might have been the bug where someone BARELY full caps a node and someone gets on right after

in this case it is possible that the audio will play( red team has taken the ….) and the points will start ticking for the team but the node will still appear as uncapped.

no – engi at top is barely viable

bunker engi gets destroyed by 2 decent burst players and brings no team value to achieve even that

condi engi gets hard countered by every braindead necro and warrior player

offensive power either deals no competetive damage or is as glasscannon as serker ele without the escapes / boons.

There are a few more hardcounters to the class depending on builds but overall its never an ez win unless you drop supply crate (which is just an unreasonable thing to do in 1v1)

Dumb thread – i can ask some kitten to play 100 games on my account and then get top spot and still sit there and never play – wether you have 100 games and dont play or have 10 and dont play makes no effin difference.

you can have perma swiftness and vigor on alll builds for 20 trait points and those are pretty much mandatory because engineeer lacks other escapes (still no weapon swap – no BS utilitys pls..)

thief builds were or are (not sure) able to maintain a LOAD of vigor + the endurance regen trait which has already been nerfed i think

perma vigor on engineer will be nerfed in the next patch – and perma swiftness is pretty much the requirement at the moment to get perma vigor – most other classes have reasonable ways to reliably increase movement speed as well.

You can also get runes that give 25% movement speed.

I`d like to point out that other classes can get an even better big amount of boons by using runes of Lyssa! (like war or thief) which is not something that is viable on engi. Runes of Lyssa provide an additional full cleanse + stability + other boons

there is some regen on engi builds especially when supply crate is dropped and you never destroy healing turret but unless you go tanky its most likely not going to be permanent

Actually having that many boons is a real issue vs fotm warriors because its 12% more damage for quite some time with destruction of the empowered

Condi/Phant mesmer or variations thereof is one of the stronger 1v1 builds

if the condi mesm brings an abundance of stealth theres not much you can do imo but he wont be able to hold node as well

Other than that mesmers are still pretty weak to condis themselves

also supply drop is a free win in every 1v1

The problem is they are still not really rewarding efforts that contribute the most to the win. The most common top stats (captures and kills) are often acquired by zerging and multi-capping uncontested points. This also leads to the highest “personal score”, which really doesn’t seem relevant in the new system, but ofc people still aim for it. The system still needs alot of revision…

I do appreciate rezzers though.

I dont see how someone capping an empty node is bad. And it definitely contributes to the win. I also feel like most kills should be rewarded. Sooo mayn people in hotjoin spec for some kittened soldiers ammy build that simply does nothing.

Besides its not like players are rewarded for playing seriously right now. (5 points for kill on neutral node WTF ANET? srslyx who thought that was a good idea? WHY? WHAT????)

I just tried leeching – 200 points for winning / 125(top score on team 135 xDDD) for losing for doing nothing. Thats actually worse than skyhammer glory farm.

At least with skyhammer glory farm the only affected people were the idiots who wasted time of their life grinding for imaginairy points which dont even mean something in the game.

Now with leechers hotjoin might get really kittened.

Worst of all this new system PUNISHES the people who didnt farm skyhammer before… very unhappy with that change

that is just stupid : i go to hot join play less than 1 minute couse the game was almost over and i get 130 glory at the end (i was like 7th with 35 glory at score bord) , second situation :i play whole game im second and got 230 points we lost the game 500-440 and i got 130 glory …….??

what is the point of this system couse i dont understand , just go the the end of all match play 1 minute and gain 130 glory ? couse if u get 130 glory in 1 minute what is the point of playing whole games :/ another glory farming idea ?

and why u give boost for wining if there is no matchmaking even simple one by ranks ?

TL:DR Trying hard is no longer rewarded. You now get glory points for doing literally nothing – LEECHERS WELCOME

i think none of you played TERA where all dungeons are in insanely small spaces which kittens the camera up horribly and people ask you to tank mobs with your back against a wall which causes you to entirely lose sight – roflmao

Why would we not have permanent vigor? Infused precision + invigorating speed with any decent crit chance is perma vigor. Which sure as heck beats the button management of having to swap in then out of a kit every 5 sec. Its much easier, much more intuitive to game play, and much much more intelligent to use the combination I mentioned over depending on speedy kits and kitten kit swap management system to keep vigor up.

The nerf is specifically intended for making you choose between out of combat mobility and offensive perma vigor as far as i understand it

Infused Precision plus Invigorating Speed does not equal permanent vigor unless you have a very high crit chance and increased boon duration.

An engineer with 30% crit chance has a chance of 15% to trigger swiftness, but only if Infused Precision is off cooldown. After four attacks the chance to not trigger swiftness is 52%, after 10 attacks it is still 19.7%.
Let’s assume this engineer has 30% boon duration, this leaves a window of 1.5 seconds to trigger swiftness, otherwise vigor will expire. Now let us assume this engineer somehow manages to land 10 attacks in 1.5 seconds, one out of five times he will still not get swiftness/vigor.

It appears your attempting to suggest a rune set as a solution to a condition removal issue. That raises two issues in itself. For one, its based on the use of an elite skill, which all have extended cool downs. Elites are not intended to be used as condition removal. Secondly, were are discussing the condition removal issue in terms of the profession as a wgole and its limitations anywhere. When you bring sigils and runes into the discussion, you have to remember that every profession can use them.

A professions ability to accomplish a necessary should not be linked to a rune or sigil.

Then take elixir c? The condi removal from it’s toolbelt ALONE makes it worth taking imo. The utility itself is amazing. I just don’t because I use Fumigate for group condi removal.

Personally i will pick elixir C once we get a 2nd weapon option and a weapon swap – until then its too kittening expensive to pick and the toolbelt is too bad as i have said multiple times

@ elixir R – using the throw for condi remove is 99% of the time just EXTREMELY HORRIBLE TERRIBAD play -

personally i dont even think mesmers aoe boon / condi remove per tick aoe thingy is good (actually i think its a joke because again i can spam condis faster than that thing removes them) so im sure as hell not going to use a matchwinning 130 second cooldown ability to cleanse some condis in a fight we might lose anyway.

2nd edit: automated response is trash unless you run a really cheesy build to counter your opponents full condi setup / a specific condi player of the enemy team. Most of the time you wont even have anything from the condi immune because the condis stacked until that point will just destroy you (unless you bring elixir C as well which makes the build even more cheesy anti condi BS)

i have literally made it to top 200 on 3 accounts every time with a starting win loss ratio of almost 100% wins

Why would we not have permanent vigor? Infused precision + invigorating speed with any decent crit chance is perma vigor. Which sure as heck beats the button management of having to swap in then out of a kit every 5 sec. Its much easier, much more intuitive to game play, and much much more intelligent to use the combination I mentioned over depending on speedy kits and kitten kit swap management system to keep vigor up.

The nerf is specifically intended for making you choose between out of combat mobility and offensive perma vigor as far as i understand it

Transmute will be about as good as the other “remove a condition every ten seconds” sigils/traits. The boon gain is something, and always getting the condition removed immediately is something. As well as always being immune to the first condition tossed on you in a fight.

Imo its not as good as the current – 1st condition removed in the fight ? yay .. so i just apply a random pistol shot first to proc the 1 sec bleed block from transmute..

and even worse you will be able to tell the approximate time for the proc

The engineer mortar elite skill nr.3 (launch elixir) heals in an aoe but doesnt scale with healing power as the gw2 wiki entry suggests – therefore i assume its a bug which was correctly implemented at some point.

Tested in heart of the mists vs svanir/chieftain using clerics and berserker amulett both result in 370 healing

Dear Soloque masters; if you’re gonna rush far point lose 1v1 while your team loses at mid 4v3 or even worse win 1v1 get full cap and stay there and then spam team chat with why mid/close is being lost?
Tell me so I can Afk the match and add you to friends so I can check when you’re in a match to que.

dm arena would be really nice 2v2 or 3v3

2v2 could work with elites

3v3 elite skills would need to be adjusted

only issue i can think of with arena style pvp
